As hilarious it may seem, bandits in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna state are now demanding for cooked food as ransom for kidnapped victims.

The bandits were learnt to have retrieved from attacking communities following the state government ban of weekly markets, this in part of measures put in place to tackle insecurity in the state.

As disclosed by one of the youth leaders in the community, Babaginda Yaro, the bandits operating in some of the villages in the community only demand for cooked food whenever victims are abducted.

Prominent PDP chieftain, Raymond Dokpesi, has declared support for former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, to emerge Nigeria's next president in 2023.

According to the Africa Independent Television (AIT) broadcasting station founder, no southern candidate can win the 2023 presidential election.

Dokpesi made the assertion known during a media interview on Saturday, October 9.

"There is no candidate from the southeast, even I dare say there is no candidate from the south that you put in the north today that will be able to win. It is going to be a humongous challenge," he said when asked if he was supporting the call or not for his party to present a presidential candidate from the South-East in 2023.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has banned Nigerians below the age of 18 years from registering and owning a Subscriber Identification Module (SIM).

This was contained in a draft copy of the modified registration of Telephone Subscribers Regulations published on the commission's website.

The Commission limited subscribers to only incude Nigerians above 18 years.

President of the Republic of Burundi, Evariste Ndayishimiye, has decided to sack all married government officials in the country with illegal relationships outside their marriage.

This was announced by the country's Minister of Internal Security, Gervais Ndirakobuka. According to the Minister, it is the next step in a long-running government campaign to 'moralise society'.

According to the new directive, any married government official keeping illegal relationships or having concubines, commonly known as 'side chics' faces the sack.

A young Nigerian girl identified as Onyiyechi, has become an internet sensation after being spotted on the streets of Lagos and transformed into a model.

The stunning teen with natural brown hair and eyes, was discovered by Nigerian female celebrity Toyin Lawani's photographer husband, Segun Wealth, when driving in a Lagos neighborhood.

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested popular Nigerian comedian, Ogunleye Babatunde, popularly known as Oluwadorlaz, for advertising and endorsing a ponzi scheme company "RackSterli" which has allegedly defrauded many Nigerians.

The Nigerian House of Representatives has clarified that there is no plan to scrap the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme for eligible Nigerian graduates.

This was affrmed by the Chairman House of Reps Committee on Youth, Yemi Adaramodu, in Abuja, at the official unveiling of nine books on NYSC and Maiden NYSC Film in commemoration of the 48th anniversary of the scheme.

According to Adaramodu, the NYSC scheme is the most successful Nigerian programme for promoting and fostering Nigeria's unity.

Tragedy occured at the Nigerian Police Headquarters in Lagos on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 when the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, paid his first official visit to the Lagos State Police Command.

Prior to the IGP’s visit to the Headquarters, he had paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Governor of Lagos state, Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu, as well as the paramount ruler of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, the Oba of Lagos.

About 2:20 p.m during the delivering of speech by the IGP, there occurred a rainstorm which made the canopy under which the IGP was sheded nearly fell on him.

The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has on Thursday, June 3, announced the increasement of the monthly allowance of corp members serving in the state from N5,000 to N15,000.

Gimba Yau Kumo, son-in-law of President Muhammadu Buhari, has been declared wanted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences (ICPC) over an alleged $65million fraud.

In a released statement by the agency Spokesperson, Azuka Ogugua, it was gathered that Kumo who was the former managing director of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, was declared wanted alongside Bola Ogunsola and Tarry Rufus over alleged "diversion" and "misapropriation" of national housing funds.
