Its a shame that our regulators gives licences/permits/certificates and afterwards NO MONITORING. Impunity in this country is over the board, we are becoming very lazy as a prople.

Everyone now has become expert in Aviation. Most information on the age of aircrafts are incomplete or not updated. I will advise we get current info on the aircraft age at www.airfleets.net . The age of an aircraft is not the problem but more on the maintenance program being followed strictly and regulators ensuring this is the case. Many of the foreign airlines that operate into Nigeria comes with very old aircrafts that are well maintained.

For me to help Nigeria Aviation to grow and reduce/eliminate this challenges, I will recommend that NO single individual should be allowed to own an airline that is doing commercial passenger service. My reason is that if we have a board of shareholders it will create sanity and funds will be available to do business. There is money in aviation but one owning it creates too much problems as he takes irrational decision. He can move out funds with no recourse to anyone and starve the company of funds. The first step is to have a policy on the ownership structure of airline as was done in banking to bring in sanity.

We can only do things right in this country to expect progress. We are becoming too religious and that is a problem. Our governors will tell us to pray for the state while they are busy looting. Prayer without work does not help any one and our religious leaders need to change their approach and tell people to start using hardwork to earn a living not expecting miracles to be rich; sha they end up stealing.

My DSTV decoder trips off and start scanning immediately, this happens in intervals of 5 - 10 minutes.

Please what is the likely solution?

There is no fraud in all of this, we need to understand how airlines that operate mixed fares do.

The airline industry operates on the principle of advance payment.

This enables the airline to have money in hand to provide the service; most of the services provided have no credit facility.

In order to encourage the public to book and pay in advance, the airline release difference fares; the earlier you buy the cheaper ticket you get.

So if you want a cheaper ticket you have to book and pay early.

If you book a ticket, you are giving a time limit to pay for this and if you default, booking is cancelled; you may not get that amount when you rebook as it may have been exhausted. The agent at the desk only sales what is available; ticketing agent does not fix the fares, it is controlled from remote.

There are a number of seats for each fare class.

Also note that, if the flight is busy and people are asking for these seats the airline have the right to cancel the unpaid bookings even before the time limit for payment.

They cant be waiting for you with no guarantee that you will pay. If you book a seat in an airline, try to pay ASAP if you realy desire to travel and on the rate you got.

I hope this clears the doubt and allegations; this is the principle all major carriers of the world operates.
