APC is a political joke. ![]() |
The All Progressives Congress has asked the Federal High Court, Abuja, to declare the seats of Ekiti six lawmakers vacant, for defecting to the Peoples Democratic Party. According to a copy of the originating summons obtained by our correspondent on Friday, the party prayed the court to order a bye-election to fill their seats in accordance with the 1999 Constitution. The affected members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly are the factional Speaker, Mr. Dele Olugbemi; Israel Olowo, Alex Ade Ojo, Adeyinka Adeloye, Mrs. Adunni Olayinka and Ayoka Fatumbi. They are joined with the PDP and the Independent National Electoral Commissioner as defendants in the action brought through Originating Summons by the Plaintiff’s counsel, Dr. Olatunji Abayomi. The lawmakers who won their seats on the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeria which later merged with other political parties to form the APC, defected on October 16 at the inauguration of Governor Ayodele Fayose in Ado-Ekiti. The plaintiff asked the court to determine, *Whether upon proper construction of the provisions of Section 109(1) (g) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as amended, the defendants being persons whose elections to the House of Assembly was sponsored by the ACN, now the APC, can continue to retain their seats in the said House having become members of another political party, the Peoples Democratic Party since October 16, 2014 before the expiration of the period for which the House was elected. *Whether the first to sixth defendants can validly pass or participate in making any legislative decision in the House of Assembly upon their defection from October 16, 2014 from the plaintiff, the APC to the seventh defendant (PDP) having regard to S. 109(1) (g) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as amended. *Whether it is proper and necessary and in compliance with democratic rights and interest of their constituency for the eight defendant to conduct an election to fill the seats presently occupied by the first to sixth defendants, upon their defection from the plaintiff to the seventh defendant (the PDP).” http://www.punchng.com/news/ekiti-apc-asks-court-to-sack-pro-fayose-defectors |

The day Utomi wins an election in any village in Nigeria, I will start taking him serious. |
A Yoruba socio-cultural group, Oodua Development Initiative, has berated former President Olusegun Obasanjo for describing President Goodluck Jonathan’s performance as below average. The patron of the group, Mr. Yinka Odumakin, said Obasanjo mismanaged Nigeria during his over 10 non-consecutive years in office. Odumakin said under Obasanjo, Nigeria was adjudged the most corrupt country in the world by Amnesty International. He also maintained that most of the problems the Jonathan administration was grappling with cropped up during the Obasanjo administration. He, therefore, warned the former President to keep quiet as he had no moral high ground to evaluate Jonathan’s performance. He said, “We believe the evaluation is the continuation of a vendetta against Jonathan. When he reported that Jonathan’s performance was below average. It is important to let Nigeria know that there is no patriot in the country that will not admit that Nigeria is facing challenges. “But Obasanjo cannot be the conscience of the nation, he cannot be the man to be pointing fingers at others when we know his scorecards. He was a military leader for three years and a democratically elected President for eight years. “We all know that it was under Obasanjo that Nigeria was voted the most corrupt country on earth. We had the Siemen scandal, the Haliburton scandal, the National Identity Card scandal. So, Obasanjo must explain to Nigerians how a man who came out of prison with N20, 000 is now a very rich man with universities and libraries.” Odumakin maintained that Obasanjo was not a democratic leader, adding that during Obasanjo’s administration, governors were dubiously removed including former governors Joshua Dariye of Plateau and Rashidi Ladoja of Oyo State. He said it was under Obasanjo’s that the Odi massacre occurred in Bayelsa State where hundreds were killed. In the area of insecurity, he said, “Have you forgotten that the seed of Boko Haram was sown during the time of Obasanjo when some governors started to introduce Sharia rule and Obasanjo looked the other way?” http://www.punchng.com/news/obasanjo-not-justified-to-criticise-jonathan-group |

Calculia: you can now run along to your boko haram god. |
Calculia:Jesus Christ, I am not your brother. Damn the day, we ever become brothers. |
Calculia:You have no interest, just another internet maggot. You see delta state and you activate I am anioma moniker. |
Calculia:Do you have a point here? |
If both groups refuse to resolve their silly problem, there are enough places in delta with abundant gas and a deep water port can be constructed there too. Sapele, is a great example. This project must be kept in Delta State. |
egift:Moments like this, make me mad with Jonathan and I wish Obj was President. Maggots like you need to be sought out by the security service and the skin on your body removed as you watch alive. Keep up your madness, that bomb you people are making will explode in Nigeria. We shall all find out how fast you can run. |
idumuose:You have said it all. |
When this fire APC is gathering sticks and petrol to set off starts burning, I hope you people have enough water to put it out. Why are you people so criminal minded. ![]() |
This thread is dead already. APC lies are dying more quicker, than you people can create new ones. ![]() |
Datolee bless you for your patience with some of these soulless creatures here. They are born to lie and that's all they can do. |
The cry babies are still at it, you people must turn your tears into blood, for Nigerians to take you parasites serious. |
Mogidi:You read my mind, Just imagine what an Obj appointed IGP, would have done to Tambuwal and the house members 2 days ago. Nobody, I mean nobody in Nigeria would say a word. The same maggots running around on this forums and newspaper complaining today, would all be deaf and dumb. |
I will always be an Obj supporter, for having the presence of mind, by stopping Atiku from ever becoming President of this Country I just hope he keeps quiet and understands Nigeria has left his likes/kind behind. He had 12 years of our 53 years since independence to write his name in Gold, unfortunately Baba Iyabo failed. From agriculture to infrastructure, no President/head of state compares to Goodluck. That is the simple truth. |

The scenarios, this pictures depict are already unavoidable come 2015. Some fundamental issues need to be settled in Nigeria once and for all. ![]() |

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/8068862.stm Government Tompolo, a Nigerian militant leader currently on the run from a military offensive, is one of the most important figures in the swamps of the oil-rich Niger Delta. What happens to Mr Tompolo in the next few weeks may determine not only the future of the conflict in the Delta but possibly Nigeria's prospects for long-term stability and prosperity. Even when not on the run, he is a shadowy figure outside the Delta creeks where he lives. A small and softly spoken man, many journalists who have met him have not realised they were in the company of the commander of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (Mend) until they were introduced. His real name is Chief Government Ekpemupolo, and he comes from a well-connected family of Ijaw descent from Okorenkoko in south-western Delta State. His brother George is the head of the local government there, and one of his former aides is a commissioner for waterway security in the Delta State government. Warri war Mr Tompolo came to prominence during the five-year war between the Ijaw and Itsekiri people which ended in 2002. Militants carry money around in the boots of their cars, because they can't bank it Niger Delta journalist His militia, the Federated Niger Delta Ijaw Communities (FNDIC) fought Itsekiri groups like the Deadly Underdogs on the streets of Warri town and in the creeks around the state for control of government patronage. Before the war, Mr Tompolo was a contractor with oil giant Chevron, supplying them with diesel for their operations on the Escravos creeks. After the conflict Mr Tompolo established himself as the muscle behind the Ijaws dominance of government and oil company contracts. In 2003 Ijaw militia leader Mujahid Dokubo-Asari began fighting the government and kidnapping expatriate oil workers. His Niger Delta People's Volunteer Force talked about giving more benefits to the people of the Niger Delta from the oil business, but really groups like the NDPVF were out to get their own share of the money being pulled out of the ground by whatever means they could. The government clamped down on Mr Asari, locking him up for two years. World attention After Mr Asari left the scene, the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (Mend) sprang up, continuing the kidnapping of expats working in the country and sabotaging oil infrastructure. Mend militants Mend came to prominence by kidnapping foreign workers Mr Tompolo is one of five original commanders of Mend, each responsible for a different region of the Niger Delta. He was the commander of "camp five", a collection of concrete buildings built by the constructors of a pipeline that runs to Lagos. Mend took the deserted camp over and until now no-one from the military has tried to attack it, even though everyone knows where it is. When they kidnapped foreign workers, they e-mailed pictures to news desks, instantly giving them the world's attention. But since 2007, kidnapping and sabotage in the western Niger Delta has decreased, as the commanders of Mend settled into comfortable relationships with local government, taking lucrative contracts, extorting money for protection of traffic on the creeks and giving security to oil bunkering syndicates. Money And Mr Tompolo has become rich - although it can have it drawbacks, observers say. He was very quiet, I could hardly hear him, he just told us he was sending some middlemen for the money and that he would protect us in future and that was it Man who paid Mr Tompolo a ransom "Militants carry money around in the boots of their cars, because they can't bank it," says one journalist, who has met Mr Tompolo several times. Stories about militant spending habits are legion. One man who negotiated for months to buy a 15m naira ($102,000, £64,000) property in Warri was gazumped by a militant who paid the owner in cash from a box in the boot of his car. Other journalists who have been with militants in clubs and bars say that they think nothing of spending $2,000 (£1,254) on a bottle of cognac available in other bars for a fraction of the price. But Mr Tompolo told Nigerian journalists he does not drink "for now" and is a church goer, attending the evangelical Eternal Sacred Order of Cherubim and Seraphim. He is married with children, according to an interview with Nigeria's Vanguard newspaper, but does not live with them. Magic Observers say this might have something to do with witchcraft. Mr Tompolo refuses to shake hands with anyone for fear they will drain the magic energy that he has created around him with charms and sacrifices. According to Ijaw rituals dedicated to the war-god Egbesu, contact with women is banned as the "corrupting power" of sex may be the downfall for a warrior, observers say. Mr Tompolo is also said to be very unassuming. One business man who had to negotiate the release of a colleague for 20m naira ($136,000, £86,000) said he was surprised at how calm and softly Mr Tompolo spoke. "He was very quiet, I could hardly hear him, he just told us he was sending some middlemen for the money and that he would protect us in future, and that was it." It remains to be seen if Mr Tompolo can hang on to his government patronage after this attack by the military, but while he is on the run, he still presents a powerful danger to the military. |

The loudest section of the Nigerian media are more boko haram than Shekau and company. Unfortunately, they have lost their monopoly of the news business. |
Abuja – President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday in London said that the media was blowing the security situation in the north eastern part of the country out of proportion. This is contained in a statement issued by Dr Reuben Abati, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity. Jonathan said this at the opening of the meeting of Nigeria’s Honorary International Investment Council (HIIC). He said that the impression being created by sections of the media that the situation was worsening was not true. The president told the international community that the Federal Government was working very hard to curtail the ability of Boko Haram to capture and hold any Nigerian territory. He said the Armed Forces and security agencies were making steady gains in recovering areas recently taken by the sect. “We are improving on security. For about a week now there have been no reports of Boko Haram seizing more territory. Rather, we are steadily pushing them back. “The impression being created by sections of the media that the situation is worsening is not true. I can assure you that it will never get worse,’’ he said. The statement stated that Jonathan also seized the opportunity to call for greater support from the National Assembly to curb terrorism, insurgency and insecurity in the country. Jonathan also told members of the council headed by Baroness Lynda Chalker, why he decided to offer himself for re-election in the 2015 general elections. The president was quoted as saying that with four more years in office, he would be able to further consolidate the positive gains of national reforms initiated by his administration. This, according to him, will ensure that the reforms are taken to a point of irreversibility for the good of all Nigerians. “As you already know, I have indicated my willingness to carry on for another four years if I am given the opportunity. “This will enable us to carry forward some of the reforms we have been talking about,’’ he said. The president cited the expansion of transportation infrastructure, improvement of local content in Nigeria’s oil industry, more inclusive economic growth, job creation and national security, among others. According to the statement, all those are on the agenda of the meeting as some of the areas in which his administration still hopes to achieve further improvements. “We cannot move the economy forward without good infrastructure. We have been working very hard in that area. “We have improved our road network significantly. In the next three to four years, we should be able to resurface almost all federal roads in the country and begin new ones. “We are improving our airport terminals and aviation security. Reforms are also ongoing at our ports to drastically reduce the time required for import clearance formalities. “In the rail sector, we may require private sector funds to quicken the pace of development. Our goal is to link all state capitals by rail. “It may not be an objective that can be achieved by a single administration, but we want to lay a solid foundation that others can build on. “We are also promoting the increased of local content in our oil industry because that is the only way in which our people will benefit more from the industry. “With that they will begin to see themselves as true stakeholders who need to protect and help in the development of our oil and gas resources,” Jonathan said. He thanked Chalker and other members of the council for their valuable advice to the Federal Government over the years. “To be successful, leaders must take decisions based on adequate information and sound advice. “Having had the personal benefit of interacting with you all as vice president and president since 2007 has helped me a lot,” the president said. The meeting later went into a closed door session to receive briefings, updates and presentations from relevant ministers and council members, the statement stated.
