I am not exhibiting any form of tribalism, but the asslicking and slavish nature of "SOME" Yorubas are one of the reasons we are in this tough situation. I mentioned the Yorubas because they are a MAJOR ethnic group. Benue state is already a conquered region.
In the future, if I tell my grandchildren that I was opportuned to choose between being part of a Biafra Republic or living under the Fulani caliphate? (Note: I not an IPOB, neither do I support the separatist)
Guess what, my grandchildren would smile knowing that I Chose the right decision.

Hello Bro.it happened to me too and i kept going back there for over a month.the fault is not from you its from their stupid machine,if you check very well there are other people who have had the same issues with you and they keep telling them to come back.

I had to go report my case to one of their superior officer that is when they said i should come when the Engineer is around to come and override it with his password Mind you there is only one Engineer in the whole of Lagos.And he comes to their ikoyi office on Monday and fridays .so thats the only two days you can get it done.find out from them when the Engineer would be around,the thing is that they like compiling it so that they can the give the Engineer in batches.

Yea, your finger print is too light to be capture. Its because your hand is too soft. I have done alot of contract jobs involving capturing biometrics.

I have more problems with 2 set of people, those with too soft palms and those who do hard manual labour such as mechanics, bricklayers, carpenters, farmers etc

Next time you go ask them to wipe off the glass of the capture device making sure no previous print is there. If possible take a block of ice place your fingers on ice before the capture but dont wet the fingers. Put a polyethylene bag over you have before placing

Drink lots of water starting from a day to the capture. Drink water till you cant take more. This is to increase turbidity

Make sure you go very early and less busy day. Dont eat with hands. Use a moisturizing cream that has no oil.

Key words cool, dry and hydrated fingers.

Bros, have you tried rubbing d thumb unto your hair when it couldn't get it to capture. It do happened to people I registered for during JAMB,WAEC or NECO registration. Asked him to allow you scrub your fingers one at a time on your head. U can try it with those that have finger scanner first

Ok that could be the cause. Try dab your thumb with mentholated spirit, before the exercise.... that should work.

All you need do is place your finger tightly on a ice block.... I have experienced it before that day I was shocked such could happen to me... It was one of the immigration officer in charge of the capturing that gave the advise.... Another option is to wash the finger thoroughly with lime..... Note it was my fore finger on my right hand the others were able to do the scanning...... Me that all I dey do is wash my clothes no other hard job ever...

I am sorry to hear that.Any of the following can make your finger print or Thumbprint as in the case of passport issuance not to go through when taking your biometrics at the capturing or passport issuance point.

1.Dirty palms.(This mostly affect children)

2.Medication(If an applicant is on any form of medication especially for malaria, it is practically impossible for the finger print/thumbprint to go through.)

3.Hunger/fasting(An applicant who is hungry can not successfully have his/her fingerprints go through.This is because the body metabolism or system must be stable enough to allow his/her biometrics to be taken successfully).

4.Anxiety(This is closely related to number 3 above in terms of the stability of the body.)

5.Third finger issuance (This is just a technical name for a double faced operation. It is because of this, that the Nigerian e-passport was introduced. This means that there are applicants who have had the e-passports before,howbeit,fraudulently.

Some of them also must have thumbprinted for someone in the past and this action would go on to deny them passports in the future except other people take the biometrics on their behalves also.
Therefore, it is in cases like this, that only the THIRD FINGER would go through instead of the THUMB which is the only legitimate finger for passport issuance.The e-passport software discourages multiple passports applications except in event of loss, expiration or change of data.

6.Techical factor.(Just like every man-made machines, the passports issuance machines is also prone to error.However,if the situation persists as in the case of op and other applicants got theirs without hassle, the situation could have been caused by either one or all of the first five factors above.

N/B: children under the age of six would not have their biometrics taken at the point of issuance.

I had the same issue last year when I wanted to register for jamb. I tried everything I could think of, but nothing changes. I later used my feet instead of finger. it a little bit........... you know.

I hope it helps...


1.) Drink lots of water starting the day prior to your fingerprinting appointment and minimize caffeine and alcohol.
2.) Apply oil-free moisturizing lotion to your hands a couple of times the day prior to the appointment and again the morning of the appointment; especially each time after you wash your hands.
3.) Do not swim or have your hands in water (especially salt water) prior to the fingerprinting appointment.
4.) Do not wash your hands or use hand sanitizer immediately prior to your fingerprinting appointment.
5.) Cool your hands before coming in for your fingerprinting appointment, especially on hot humid days.
