Kpibeojo: Congratulations
Timeline
Mar 31 - I cancelled my previous booking
Apr 1st (0:05) - resubmitted for Category B
Same first week of April - requested for a new admission letter from school since I deregistered the previous semester due to lack of concentration from online studies and woeful exam (p:s I don't like bad records)
Second week of April - got new admission letter for winter 2021
April to September - I kept hoping for appointment
September 15 - Enrollment for new semester started, but I ignored
October 8 - Miracle happened I received mail from the embassy for appointment
October 9 - I cancelled my vacation trip to Tanzania because I won't be back on the appointment date given by the consulate (devil wanted to double cross me but God no gree)
October 9 - I sent mail to school I wanted to pay for enrollment because I sincerely gave up on the quest. The school told me deadline was October 14
October 10 - I sent money
October 14 - Money hasn't been confirmed (see devils at work)
October 14 - I started sending mail and copied both necessary and unnecessary people from my school. Ema je ki owo jona meaning don't let my money burn.
October 15 - I was given a favourable response that the deadline won't affect me since I told them I have made the payment (yet my mind wasn't at rest)
October 18/20 - Enrollment letter was issued
Nov 5 - Appointment date (something unusual happened; The interviewer told me my block account wasn't fully funded)
Ahhhhhhhhhhh I felt like crying. Although I funded 10600 euros which was more than the stipulated amount because I had a premonition of something like this. Yet I was given a shocker...let me explain what happened!
After registering my fintiba account in 2019 (so you now know I have been on this for 2 years) the embassy initial started with 8600+ euros then moved it up to 9600+ then again 10233 I guess. My fintiba block account read 10233 as the blocking contract which I wasn't even aware it has increased to 10382 euros (if I am correct)
After the interview the BO told me to quickly make the necessary changes within 7 days (she didn't believe I funded fully)... On leaving the Consulate I switched my phone on and started browsing to confirm where the error was, I made the required changes to the blocking contract and immediately sent a mail to the consulate explaining what happened.
Note: I won't talk about my issue with Mr Paulinus...That man ehn!!!
Nov 16 - The embassy sent a mail I should forward my updated blocking contract which I did almost immediately
Another round of silent days I kept calling once every two weeks
December 16 - Approval Mail came and request to send my passport and travel insurance. I forwarded it same day through FedEx
No response again ahhhhhhhhh this people
December 23 - Got a call while eating amala from a courier man, I initially thought it was jumia ....lol but when he said from Ger....man I stood up immediately.
I received my Visa and my original documents
December 27 - I left Nigeria via Lufthansa (I don't want to hear say lockdown hook me for Naija)
December 28 - I arrived Deutschland
All Glory To God
Although it took two years but it eventually worth the wait.
In addition: while looking for alternatives I got: 2 Admissions in US (One with Tuition Waiver) 4 Admissions in UK Sat for IELTS within one week of preparation ( Scores 7.5)
Can somebody shout hallelujah!!! Congratulations brother. Please I would like to know if anyone has gotten appointment date and is going for studienkolleg |

Harry4cas: Please where did you do your German Classes? Someone recently told me Goethe Institute has moved from Yaba to Lagos Island. He even mentioned they now do only virtual classes (I don't really like virtual language class) so I'd like to know if this is true. Yes that’s actually true. VI, onifowoshe street precisely. I hope I got the pronunciation right. Yeah I also would have preferred in person classes but I did mine online from A1 to B1. |

nameundisclosed: Well, I'm not so sure about the process for visa, going for studienkolleg, but if you can, apply to some schools that could give you conditional admission, so it makes more sense. Thank you so much for your reply. The problem is I can only re apply next year March but there is a possibility I might get an appointment this December since I applied since April. So please what then do I do in this situation ? |

Duisburg: Go for your interview as far as you have your block account. Quickly get a language school admission. It doesn't take more than two to three days. Thanks a lot for your reply but that would mean that I would be getting a language course visa instead of a student visa right? Because Studienkolleg is still under student visa type because after the Studeinkolleg exam” FSP “ you get admission directly into University without having to come back. From what little I read, with language course visa you will have to come back but with Studienkolleg you apply to your choice of University afterwards. So please how do I go about it? |

nameundisclosed: What are you exactly going for, and what exactly is your situation? I am going for studentkolleg, I applied March and got an acceptance that was based on the invitation to write the studienkolleg entrance exam that was scheduled for August 3rd. Somehow along the line, I didn’t get that invitation because they said” the spaces were full” but I personally believe it was because they knew the visa situation here in Nigeria. I currently have my B1 Goethe certificate and they even evaluated my WAEC. This is the reason I decided to ask questions in order to find out what exactly to do because I can only make a new application in March for the Summer semester. So I would like to know what I should do incase I get an appointment date this December and what is the likelihood that happening? |

EMMA8888: No Sir... It's 128... Rather. The very best! Good day everyone. I have the same reference number with you starting from 1288... but I’m going for studienkolleg. I was not admitted the cause they said the spaces were less than the applicants. Now I am thinking of which studienkolleg I can apply to incase I get an invitation this December just like you. I applied for an appointment on the 10th of April |

Hello everyone! Please I'm new here. So for formal introduction, I am Austin a Nigerian living in Nigeria. I am currently at the B1 level in German language. I learnt it through the Goethe online course and took the exam last month. I plan to attend a Studienkolleg in Germany before getting into uni. I have applied to a studienkolleg already. I have been reading through your insightful experiences and I decided to apply early for my German category B visa for my classes I hope to begin in October 2021. I booked appointment and filled a short form diplo.de after which they sent a no- reply email stating: ""Your registration to apply for a long term visa (more than 90 days) for students of the category B has been successful"" with a reference number and that in ""Approximately 4 to 6 weeks prior to your appointment to apply for a visa you will receive a e-mail with the exact date of your appointment"" Since April I have been waiting and I'm really confused and restless. Please is there something that I have missed? Is there a new process for the 2021 category B visa application? I am eagerly waiting for a response |
