Lawrence Abrokwa, the husband of comedienne, broadcaster and actress Afia Schwarznegger, has been granted bail by an Accra Circuit Court on Monday.

This is after Lawrence, who is also an actor and comedian, pleaded not guilty to two counts of domestic violence, threat of harm, publication of obscene material and assault.

According to MYJoy News, the bail was granted after the plaintiff's lawyer, Maurice Ampaw made the application before the court.

Recall, Mr Abrokwa, was arrested on August 30, 2017, when an official complaint of an alleged assault was received from the actress, known in private life as Valentina Nana Agyeiwaa.



The police suspecting that Abrokwa was the source of the leaked video, arrested and arraigned him before a court.

The former minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has reacted to the reported Nnamdi Kanu house arrest after the Nigerian army reportedly surrounded his house in Umuahia, Abia state.

Recall, Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor had yesterday cried out to the public over concerns about the IPOB leader’s safety, claiming his client has been placed under house arrest by the Nigerian army.

Kanu’s counsel, also claimed soldiers allegedly invaded the IPOB leader’s country home in Umuahia

Now, the former minister, who took to his Facebook page condemned the action of president Muhammadu Buhari vowing to hold him responsible should anything happen to Kanu..

He wrote;

The behaviour of the military against a defenceless and unarmed civilian population in Abia state is reprehensible.

What has Nnamdi Kanu or indeed the Igbo people done to warrant this primitive show of barbarism and force? We are on the brink of a total breakdown of law and order and a prolonged and bloody armed conflict.

I urge restraint on all sides and I call on President Muhammadu Buhari to withdraw the army from the east and leave Nnamdi Kanu alone.

Terrorising your own people with soldiers is not the act of a courageous man but rather the act of a tyrant, a coward and a bully.

We call on the international community to bear witness to what is unfolding in Nigeria and we will hold Buhari responsible and accountable in the event of any loss of life.

The Walt Disney company is donating $2.5 million to Hurricane Irma relief efforts throughout Florida and the Caribbean.

The donation will go to the American Red Cross, UNICEF and Save the Children, among other nonprofits, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.

Disney Chairman and CEO Robert Iger said in a statement;

“As millions of people now face the daunting challenge of putting their lives and communities back together in the wake of these historic hurricanes, they need our help,” 

“We’re donating $2.5 million to support relief and recovery efforts in response to Hurricane Irma.

This is in addition to nearly $16 million we raised after Hurricane Harvey to help ensure storm victims have the support needed to recover and rebuild.”

The company also said it would match dollar for dollar employees' donations to relief and recovery organizations.

The Walt Disney Company also raised nearly $16 million to aid those affected by Hurricane Harvey, which swept through the Gulf of Mexico last month, devastating communities across southeast Texas and Louisiana.

Nigerian singer, Kingsley Okonkwo, aka Kcee, has addressed his beef with Malaysian based Nigerian big boy Ray Hushpuppi..

The Limpopo singer, who rarely gives video interviews, in his interview with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu surfaced, talked about some of the drama he has recently been embroiled in, including his beef with Hushpuppi.

According to Kcee, he threatened to report Hushpuppi to the EFCC following the Gucci lover’s series of clashes with other celebrities.

The embattled lawmaker representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Dino Melaye, has described the ruling by a Federal High Court Abuja which failed to grant his application to stop his recall from the Senate as appealable.

Melaye, in his reaction to the ruling on Monday, alleged that Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, Independent National Electoral Commission, top Federal Government officials, and top security officers were behind his travails.

He said;

“My great people of Kogi West Senatorial District of Kogi state, in the face of obvious persecution and appealable judgement of the Federal High Court Abuja today, let not your heart be troubled.

Lies will never overtake or conquer truth.

“The presence of the Kogi State Attonery General and Commissioner for Justice in court today over a matter that Kogi State is not joined as a party shows the clear collaborative efforts of INEC and Kogi State Government.

However, these combined efforts of Governor Yahaya Bello, INEC, top Federal Government officials and top security agents to harangue and stampede me out of the Senate against the will of Kogi West constituents will fail woefully.

He who is with me from above is greather than all of them put together.

“I will not stop speaking truth to authority. Kogi State Government must pay workers’ salaries and pay pensioners. We cannot all sleep facing one side of the bed. We shall overcome this temporary Shenanigan in the long run.

President Muhammadu Buhari’s childhood classmate and former senator, Abba Alli, has declared that the president should run for a second term in 2019 in order to fully sanitise the political system..

Alli made this comments in reaction to the calls by some politicians that the President should not contest in the 2019 general election, or that he should even resign as a result of ill-health.

In an interview with Punch, Ali maintained that the President was full of life when his childhood classmates of 1953 paid him a visit in his hometown, Daura, during the Sallah holidays.

He said;

“President Buhari is hale and hearty; let me first clear that impression on his health,” 

“Those urging him to resign on health grounds have forgotten that God is the creator of mankind and he has the final say on when one will die.

“I have seen an old man in Katsina here who was in coma for four months, yet the old man thereafter lived for another eight years before he eventually died.

“I have also seen a situation where a man was seen today in good health and died the following day not as a result of accident but normal natural death.

“President Buhari should go for a second term in office. He has started a good job which is acknowledged both within the country and globally. And it is better he contests again for a second term in office so that he can finish the good job he has started.”

Alli maintained that there is scarcely any politician in the country today who compares to Buhari in terms of sincerity and love for the people.

He described the President as a man who is;

“not out to accumulate wealth but to put Nigeria in its appropriate place in the comity of nations”.

“Based on my experience in politics and with my age, I am saying it with all seriousness that I have not seen anybody among the current crop of politicians in the country who has a good intention like President Buhari,” 

“Many of them have amassed enormous wealth meant to take care of their people. Many are still stealing blindly.

“President Buhari stands out among the current political class in Nigeria. I will rather encourage him to go for a second term so that there will be sanity in the political sphere.”

Minister of Women Affairs, Aisha Jummai Alhassan (Mama Taraba) has denied, in strong terms, reports in several media (not Olisa.tv) in which she supposedly linked Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El Rufai to the kidnap of the Chibok girls and threatened to expose him.

In a statement made available to pressmen by the minister’s Special Assistant on New Media, Suleiman Dantsoho, the minister described the statements credited to her as another ploy by mischief makers to tarnish her hard-earned reputation.

The minister wondered why she would make such a claim when she isn’t in possession of any security report and warned that further attempt to cause strife between herself and her APC colleagues would be futile.

The statement reads in part:

“The current APC Government under President Buhari inherited series of problems from the past administration, the kidnap of the Chibok Girls by the dreaded Boko Haram happens to be one of them and President Buhari and our military has been able to rescue some of them and checked Boko Haram’s excesses.

Senator Jummai is not in possession of any security report and therefore will never have made the statement allegedly made by her against the person of Governor El Rufai.

“Boko Haram kidnapped many others, including women and children apart from Chibok Girls. And this government has been able to rescue most of them. The plot to cause bad blood between Senator Jummai And Her APC Colleagues will continue to hit brick wall.”

There have been reports making the rounds that Senator Alhassan threatened to expose Gov El Rufai for his complicity in the kidnap of the Chibok Girls. In one such report, the minister was quoted to have said:

“There are lot of things Nigerians needs to know about the planning and execution of Chibok girls’ kidnapping because those behind it will be unmasked very soon. The intention was very obvious, to defame and blackmail PDP and Jonathan out of power.”

The reports also claim that Senator Alhassan made the threat in angry reaction to a comment attributed to Gov El Rufai in which he claimed that President Buhari was warned not to appoint Senator Alhassan as minister.

Lawrence Abrokwah, the husband of TV host Valentina Nana Agyeiwaa, popularly known as Afia Schwarzenegger, has finally given his version of the story following the leakage of his wife’s amorous affair with another man.

Recall, the comedienne was reportedly caught red-handed by her husband engaging in a sexual act with another man, and he recorded the episode on video.

Since the story broke on Wednesday, there have been numerous videos and pictures of Afia almost naked when she was caught by her husband.

In a separate video she is heard begging her husband to forgive her after he threatened to disfigure her face with acid for cheating on him with another man.

The case eventually ended up in court, with both Afia and Abrokwah reporting to court on Friday to give their reports.

Now, her husband, has now broken his silence on the issue and has opened up on his own version of the story.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Kofi TV, which was streamed live on Facebook, Abrokwah admitted to personally recording the video but said he knew nothing about its leakage.

According to him, despite everything that had happened, he could never do something as disgraceful as that to his wife.

Abrokwah said;

“Yes, I did record my wife but I will never do such a thing as putting her video in social media,”

”Who can prove that I put the leaked video of my wife on my Facebook page? No, I don’t know anything about the leaked video.

“Yes I recorded the video which Afia has a copy, and I also sent a copy to Afia’s father and the police also has a copy so how can I leak it? No.”

He then revealed that Afia is a cheat but he still loves her though he cannot be with her anymore. Mr. Abrokwah however apologized to his ex girlfriend who he believes was better off than Afia.

Meanwhile, he is expected to face the court Monday, 11 September over leakage of the nude video.

The University of Nigeria, Nsukka, has postponed its 2017 post-UTME screening exam earlier scheduled to start on Monday September 11.

This was made known by its Registrar, Chris Igbokwe, in a statement on Saturday in Nsukka.

The registrar said a new date would be made known to the general public.

The statement said;

“This is to inform the general public that 2017 post-UTME screening exam earlier scheduled to start on Monday September 11 and end Saturday September 16 has been postponed,”

“An updated timetable for the rescheduled Post-UTME screening tests will be published later.

“Please visit UNN Website regularly for update.”

Mr. Igbokwe said registration for the post-UTME exam was ongoing.

He urged candidates who made UNN their first choice and scored 200 and above that had been experiencing difficulties in generating invoice in their online registration to continue to try.

“For all enquiries, send an email to: customerservices.ict@unn.edu,” he said.

According to The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the postponement of the UNN 2017 screening exam might not be unconnected with the ongoing Academic staff Union of universities (ASUU)’s strike.

The proposed nationwide strike by non-academic staff of Nigeria universities (NASU) that would kick-off on September 11 also contributed to the development.

Her dad who then carried on with the chat, shared screenshots of the quite disturbing thread for an eleven year old.

The Imo state police command yesterday paraded five suspected abductors and killers of a priest, Cyriacus Onunkwo, in the state.

One of the suspects was however identified as police officer.

Recall, the clergyman was abducted on Friday, September 1st in Orlu and his body was later discovered along the road in Omuma on Saturday, September 2nd.

Now, one of the suspects that was paraded has confessed to killing the priest but said the clergyman was killed in error.

The 28-year-old man, identified as Mr. Izuchukwu Okafor, popularly known as small, from Ukwukwa village in Azia of Anambra state, Thursday, said that him and other of his gang members did not plan to murder Reverend. Father Cyriacus Onunkwo.

Okafor claimed that he was second in command and that a policeman, Ex Corporal, Jude Madu, organized the operation.

Speaking to Vanguard, he said;

“I don’t know he will die. We covered the nose of the catholic priest that was why died. We saw him on the road and we did not know he was a Reverend Father and we kidnapped him.

I was not the owner of the vehicle used in kidnapping the Catholic priest.

“I was not the person who led the gang, it was a policeman. When we got to the junction, he asked us to stop in the front of the Catholic priest Toyota Corrola, and he asked the priest to come down and that he was under arrest.

“I want to tell you that it was Jude Madu that requested that I should get a car and that we were going to somewhere. He did not tell me where we were going.”

Barely 2 weeks after BBC's Pidgin language website was launched, it has gone viral after publishing a version of the story for its Central and West African readers.

The dialect is spoken in Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea.

The nightmare Tinder date story, where a girl attempted to dispose of her excrement after blocking a toilet at student Liam Smyth's house, was published on the website yesterday.
After failing to rid of the faeces, the woman panicked and threw it out the window, leading to her attempting to grab it after it became lodged between two windows.

With the help of Mr Smyth, she tried to climb between the gap to pick it up but got stuck, meaning he had to call the fire service to set her free.

On the BBC's Pidgin website, the story says:

'The woman wey dey learn gymnastics, just start to waka with Bristol student, Liam Smith, for di first time, when she take fear troway di poo-poo comot for window.

In comparison, the English version says;

Drama started when the rapper shared the photo of his second son, Davian, who he said is resuming at Hunter College for a programme.

Tragedy struck in the early hours of Monday in Benin City, as a couple Imafidon Ototie and his wife were found dead in an apartment in Ototie Street, Behind Ekae Primary School, Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area.

According to ITV Benin's Amenze Obarisiagbon, the deceased died after inhaling fume from the power generator kept on the corridor beside their room.

Daughter of the deceased wailing over the sudden death of her father and Step-Mother.

Their eldest daughter, Blessing, said she had warned her late parents to always put off the generator at night.

According to eyewitness the eldest son of the deceased, who noticed that his father, stepmother and younger brother have not woken up from sleep, with the door of their room still locked called for help. They said when neighbors forced the door open, the couple were found dead, while one of his sons survived.

Bright said he raised alarm when he returned home on Monday morning and discovered that his parents were yet to get up from the bed.

He said:

“I HAVE WARNED THEM TO PUT OFF THE GENERATOR BUT THEY DIDN’T LISTEN TO ME. .

IT IS LIKE A SPIRIT TOLD ME TO LEAVE THE HOUSE AND I LEFT. I CAME BACK AND SAW THE DOOR LOCKED SO I RAISED ALARM.”

Some relatives and residents who said the dead couple switched on the power generator before going to bed, advised Benin City residents to desist from using power generator indoors as exhaust fumes are dangerous.

The survivor is receiving treatment in a nearby hospital.
