Technology MarketHow Digital Economy Has Reimagined The MSME Sector by austusnobet(op): 10:56am On Jun 29, 2021
The MSME sector is the backbone of Nigeria's economy. Studies by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) show that approximately 96% of Nigerian businesses are MSMEs, compared to 53% in the US and 65% in Europe. Of this number, about 99.87% of MSMEs in Nigeria are micro-enterprises. With a total number of about 17.4 million, SMEs contribute about half (48%) of the entire GDP in Nigeria.
Thanks to digital technology, it is worth noting that ecommerce platforms like https://quickqart.com/have so far played a key role in boosting and accelerating MSMEs in the past couple of months. A significant number of MSMEs are riding on the Quickqart platform to reach millions of customers in Nigeria and across Africa. Today, these MSMEs are raking in more revenue compared to the past.
The fact is, there is a link between technology adoption and the MSME sector growth with some stating that MSMEs who were early adopters of the technology have increased their annual revenue 15% faster than their competitors. This is what the vendors on Quickqart are currently enjoying. This article explores the five leading ways in which technology will encourage growth in the MSME sector.

Creating a digital business

Thinking through and executing a digital business model requires a fundamental shift in strategy because it is completely different from offline business. In this case, you either bring out a new offering or take the existing offering to market in newer ways. This means being able to explore technologies such as the Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence to make the customer experience seamless. The option for digital technology in MSMEs is numerous. It only requires very strong business understanding to be able to analyze what the ecosystem looks like, have a very strong understanding of the customer and their insatiable expectations to be able to devise an appropriate strategy to create the digital business that meets their needs.

Social impact

You can’t afford to operate your business as if it exists in a vacuum any longer. The rise of social media networks such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram mean your customers are simply a click away and now users can connect without regard to the geographical obstacle, financial background, or even social status. Indeed, in the past, there were very limited avenues for customers to raise their queries but now as a business, you are likely to incur an unfavourable rant or a bad review on Facebook. This is why as a business, you should not compromise on standards because what goes on on the Internet stays on the Internet. This means that if you earn a bad reputation, it’s going to stick with you. It is for this reason that businesses large and small worry about their digital footprint and a good number of organisations have experts who are on the lookout for potential “bad press” and are out making the rounds trying to be proactive.

Increased interest in and need for security

Businesses of all sizes need to be increasingly aware of the need for enhanced security. The rise in cyber-crime has also led to an increase in interest in protecting data, training employees and incorporating IT into every aspect of the business. At the very least, an organization needs to be committed to protecting data with backups, integrating patches and updates regularly and training all employees to spot the signs of trouble.

Connectivity

Digital technology has also increased the ease with which we can all stay in touch, interact and engage. Whether it’s having your coworkers and employees available via text/video chat at a moment’s notice, or being able to send targeted promotional email blasts to pre-qualified customers when they’re shopping at nearby businesses, the rise of mobile technology has blended almost seamlessly with communication software to create a web of real-time information.

Improved access to information and data

Digital Technology has made it easier than ever to research and find data without leaving the office. Enhanced access to data gives your business the ability to offer your customer service team not only a way to connect with customers but also a way to instantly access complete customer history. In addition to this, you can provide a better user experience for anyone who interacts with your brand.
Irrespective of how big or small a business enterprise is, application of digital technology offers numerous benefits including those that facilitate the smooth running of business operations. These benefits are sometimes tangible while other times; they are intangible. The bottom line is that business applications play a significant role in increasing profitability for businesses while generating the results that customers need.

PoliticsEzeemo Signs Social Contract With Anambra People by austusnobet(op): 4:44pm On Oct 29, 2017
The Progressive People’s Alliance, PPA witnessed a mammoth crowd as they held officially flagged off their campaign over the weekend at All Saints Cathedral, Onitsha, during which the National Working Committee of the party led by her National Chairman, Chief Peter Ameh performed the ceremonial handing over of the party’s flag to Mr Godwin Chukwunenye Ezeemo and his deputy, 38 year old Hon. Stanley Nkwokah and Ezeemo stunned everyone by signing a social contract with the people.

Handing over the flag, Chief Ameh described Ezeemo as “a man of integrity and an embodiment of honesty and humility who has distinguished himself as an astute business man and administrator and therefore the ideal candidate for governorship in a great state like Anambra”.
Appreciating the “emotions, enthusiasm and excitement”expressed by the teeming crowd of supporters, Ezeemo opined that the electorates’ sacrificing their time to be part of the flag off was evidence that they are resolved to see a better Anambra State.
He shared his disgust at the “reckless abandon with which previous governments and event he present have been misusing their power to lord it over the people and siphon public funds” and promised that his emergence is a coup de grace for irresponsible governance.
In his words, “I know that our people have been lied to for so long and that is why you find it difficult convincing some people who have seen my antecedents but are still doubting the genuineness of my purpose.

This is why I have chosen to sign a social contract with you women, youths, traders, commuter drivers and all other groups that make up Anambra people today so that you can hold me accountable if I default from accomplishing any of my promises within the timeline I have slated to actualise them if I emerge your governor.”
He then read out the social contracts which consist of definite actions he would take to address infrastructural, policy and social justice issues that militate against the smooth and optimum functioning of the various groups of people in the state, signed them and asked for a representative of the various demographics to sign on their column.

Generally it is believed that women who lose their husbands, particularly when the men in question are considered too young to die, are responsible for their husbands’ ill fate, as such the woman is subjected to some dehumanising rituals.

Sometimes she is denied access to her husband’s belongings in the belief that the poor woman must have had a hand in the death of her husband because she had her eyes on his property.

Justice Mohammed Yunusa of the Federal High Court Lagos has ordered the re-opening of a bank account containing fifty eight million, five hundred thousand naira (N58, 500,000) suspected to be proceeds of drugs frozen by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

The account was frozen with the consent of the Attorney General through the Solicitor General in accordance with the NDLEA Act.

EducationNigeria Education System Can Compete With British's - UK Resident by austusnobet(op): 1:51pm On Jun 21, 2013
Kehinde Kukoyi and his wife, Abayomi Kukoyi, who reside and work in England decided to bring their daughter to Nigeria to study because they want her to gain the moral culture and Nigerian upbringing.
According to Mr. Kukoyi, "A lot of Nigerian children's morals are well misplaced over there in the UK and we felt it will be wise for our daughter to have the moral and cultural background we had."
Mr Kukoyi disclosed this during the 2012 graduation ceremony of Corona Secondary School, Agbara where Titilope Kukoyi, his daughter, won an award as one of the best students in the school.
On the reason for the mass drift of Nigerians to England, he noted that it is a mind thing based on history saying, Nigerians tend to believe that UK has the best education.
"One thing you will get in UK is only the education , but in Nigeria, you will get an English culture and in addition, the culture aspect of where you came from.
"We need to emphasise to Nigerians that no matter what, home is the best. It is where we should all be, you can live in any country, but you should not forget where you are from, students should not forget their values. In Nigeria, we add value to education.
"Having spent 37 years in theUK, by allowing our daughter come to Nigeria for her secondary education, indicated that we wanted to through her, showcase the type of talent that schools in Nigeria can produce in the UK. That is what I am encouraging Nigerian parents in the Diaspora to do. Instead of shipping your children over there, please bring them back to Nigeria, teach them our culture, do not allow them to think that it is all about foreign country.''

Speaking in the same vein, Titi's mother said, "I have been in the UK for 37 years while Titi was born in England, she did her primary school in England but when it was time to do her secondary school, we made the informed choice of bringing her back home to study at Corona School in Nigeria.
She described Titi as a gifted child who is very intelligent for her age. "She will be proceeding to Westminster for her A levels, she will like to be a management consultant."
On her part, Titilope said, "Attending Corona was just a step in making me a better person." She advised students who are currently abroad to come back and help change the country. "The country needs our help especially our generation."
Meanwhile, Justice Adebiyi Bukola, the guest speaker who congratulated the graduands for their successful completion of their study said that for some of them, it has not been easy to conquer, pointing out that hard work, their teachers and school community are factors that encouraged them to succeed.
She noted that their graduation is not the end of success but a move to the next stage of life adding, "you will meet different challenges that you have to conquer." According to her, the kind of challenges students face after secondary school may be more tasking, urging them to be focused, determined and hardworking to be able to overcome the challenges that they will meet.
Adebiyi said, "Most values you have imbibed as students will be required each time you are faced with a challenge adding, "the values include integrity, high moral standard and hard work."
Explaining the steps to success, she maintained that students must have faith, fear of God in everything they do, strength of character, patience, perseverance and honesty.
"Remember, your attitude to the challenges you meet on your way will determine your altitude. Whatever situation you find yourself in, be bold, be confident and be outspoken," she said.
According to her, success is not only about financial rewards especially in the country we live in today where corruption is so high.
Justice Adebiyi who tasked the students not to get caught in vices, charged them to remember their identity, background and the sleepless nights they have put in to get to their present stage.
Career5 Ways To Increase Your Value In The Work Place by austusnobet(op): 11:21am On Jun 20, 2013
Adding value is one of the best ways to keep your job in these turbulent economic times. Think like a boss; put yourself in the position of your employer or the leader of your organization.
What qualities would you look out for in employees whom you would advance within your management structure? In today’s intricate economy, it is not enough to do the bare minimum anymore; you have to go over and above in order to keep your job and progress up the corporate ladder. In other words, you have to make conscious effort and go beyond the boundaries, think and do things outside the box, break out from regular routines. The way you are viewed will not only impact your success at your present workplace, but it will also affect recommendations and references (referrals). Become that leader you want to see, be the asset that organizations will always seek after.
Communicating with people is an opportunity not only to transfer information, but also to build relationships. Your work place is just an apparent medium of communication.
With all the forms of electronic communication available today, our conversations are becoming more and more impersonal. You will find that if you have a good relationship with the people who you work with (and for), you will be far more likely to get chosen for a leadership role. Learn the difference between e-communication and real communication. Go beyond the sphere of text messaging and e-mails. You create more value when you interact with people physically.

Expand Your Responsibilities

Don’t ever take for granted the fact that you can surpass you regular goals and targets. As an organization, or as an employee, simply doing a little more than what is expected will go a long way in the general perception of your performance, which automatically increases your value to the organization. Going along with the concept of over-delivering, it’s important to gradually expand your responsibilities. Volunteering to take on some of that additional work will position you as a team player.

Master your craft

This is a very important aspect of increasing your value. Becoming an expert at something that is important to the organization will make you an invaluable resource. Participate in industry events, increase you skills, do whatever you can to position yourself within your company and your industry. It will make your company, and in turn, you, look very good which is an additional also to your personal value and that of your organization.

Strive for excellence in your work

Romance7 Good Reasons NOT To Send Your Nude Photos To Anyone by austusnobet(op): 6:20am On Jun 19, 2013
There are so many reasons not to send nude pictures to anyone, but with nearly everyone having a cell phone, Facebook, Twitter, email and Instant Messaging, it’s all too easy to give in and snap a picture. Whether it’s for your boyfriend or a random flirty stranger online, girls of all ages are talked into exposing themselves for the camera every day. It’s become incredibly common place and the trend needs to stop. Some women think that sending a naughty picture to their boyfriend will tempt him into some fun later on in the day, but there are other ways to get their attention! Please read these reasons not to send nude pictures and make sure that if you give a little strip tease you do it in person, not via camera.

1. SCREEN SHOT
One of the reasons not to send nude pictures even on apps that supposedly erase what you send moments after it is received is that most people know how to take a screen shot with their phone. SnapChat is an app that allows you to send a private message or picture to a recipient and then deletes it in a matter of seconds so that no one else can read it or see the pictures. In theory this is pretty awesome, but all it takes is a quick screen shot of that nude photo you send to that guy you’re trying to get with and now that picture is permanent. It can be posted online, texted back and forth between friends… you never know where it will end up.
2. SEXTINGPICS.COM
There are websites, such as sextingpics.com, that allow guys to post pictures sent to them in private sexting conversations. Those photos that you sent in the heat of the moment because you thought they would snag your guy for good… they could be online right now. And if you are thinking the likelihood of anyone you know finding them is pretty slim, think again. Sextingpics.com allows you to search through the pictures by area code, so if anyone in your town browses through those pictures, yours could pop up!

3. SOCIAL MEDIA
Everyone thinks the relationship they’re in is going to last, but the harsh truth is that most relationships, when they end, don’t end on the best of terms. Things can get nasty and complicated. If your ex gets mad or vindictive enough, those nudie pics you sent him two years ago that he saved could do some damage to your reputation. You don’t want all of your friends, his friends or the general public seeing you naked. It is way too easy to forward a photo to anyone and everyone using social media or text messaging.

CelebritiesWizkid & His Many Cars, The Story Behind by austusnobet(op): 10:03am On Jun 12, 2013
Wizkid has acquired more than four cars in the last 2 years of his remarkable career.
Recently, Wizkid added a N14.6million Porsche Panamera S luxurious automobile to his fleet of cars. This, he made public when he posted photos of the car on picture sharing website, Instagram with the caption, ‘My new baby’.
Our first knowledge of his car purchase was in 2011-a black Honda Accord i-VTEC which was later snatched by robbers in March of that same year. Soon afterwards in September, the youngster quickly took delivery of a N6million blue Volkswagen convertible.
In July of the following year, his exploits at the 2012 Headies Awards saw him taking home the award for the ‘Next Rated’ category which included a prize of an automobile; a 2012 model Hyundai Sonata. It has become the belief of most entertainers that owning exotic cars actually ups their status in the eyes of their fans and possibly increasing their worth with brands that would likely hire their services or affiliate with them.

Like the title of his debut album ‘Superstar’, Wizkid has risen steadily to become one of Nigeria’s richest entertainers, grossing between N3million to N6million per show, depending on the details.

RomanceWhat Do Men And Women Want From Each Other? by austusnobet(op): 10:20pm On Jun 09, 2013
I had the good fortune to celebrate a wedding anniversary and birthday last weekend. The former was a quarter of a century and twelve moons as a dear friend so beautifully put it in a card and the latter was five decades and a half. While the numbers are a little unnerving, they are certainly something to be very proud of.
What is even more significant to me is that I can still remember the emotions I felt on the day I got married and comparing it to how I feel today about my spouse, the only difference is in the depth, quality and understanding, all of which are much richer, heightened and of a superior quality. I find this indeed something to celebrate. People tend to ask couples who have been married for long periods what their secrets are. I always find it an odd question because by virtue of the word secret, that would suggest it is not something you want to share. Besides, one couple’s successful ingredients may not work for another couple.
We were further blessed to have our wonderful children, close family and dear friends share this happy time with us. As the evening wore on and we got more relaxed and happier (if you know what I mean), the conversations also got more interesting and polarised. There were different camps, some spoke about politics and the state of the nation. While others held dialogue about family life and the difficulties in making ends meet. The camp I belonged (which I considered the most interesting), entered into that murky, complex discourse about how men and women relate.
The two most important questions asked relating to the dynamics between the genders are what do men want from women and what do women want from men? It’s one thing to know the answer and make a decision how to respond to it, however it’s a whole different ball game as it’s mostly the case not to have a clue!
When we strip away all the confusion and complexities of 21st century living where gender roles are not so defined, sometimes tipping the balance to the point of non recognition, there have been and will continue to be some basic primordial impulses and needs between the sexes.
Women primarily want a strong man to protect them, to provide strong genes to father their offspring. Men want a woman with child bearing hips to produce their babies and they want their women to be a mother to the children and to them.

Fast forward to modern day living where we would all agree the story and attitudes are somewhat different. Although some argue that the intentions and needs are really still the same and that is why relations are in so much chaos because coupled are trying to go against the grain and are fighting their basic nature. I am being somewhat of a coward here and putting all cases of the argument in this article, trying not to pitch my tent on any particular side (I will probably fail in this attempt).
Women now appear to be demanding a whole new set of conditions, which focus on economics, sexual fulfilment or liberation, equality, excitement, risks. Therein lies a lot of the upsets observed in relationships today. On the other hand, men appear to have lost the plot and don’t seem to have a clue to what exactly they want or seem to feel they have endless options, as a result they seem unable to focus on maintaining a stable home.

RomanceWhat NOT To Say On A First Date by austusnobet(op): 8:55pm On Jun 08, 2013
Although a lot of ladies get confused about what to say on a first date, consider this advice on what NOT to say on a first (or second or third or fourth or fifth…) date:
1. You remind me of my ex.
2. I can’t stay out too late tonight — the season finale of “Big Brother” is on.
3. Cutco knives are so awesome.
4. I only cry during every movie…and right after sex.
5. I should warn you, my favourite meal is ice-cream.

6. Contraception is not okay. It’s a license to do things in a sexual realm that is counter to how things are supposed to be.
7. I can’t wait to show you my teddy bear collection.

RomanceShine Theory: Why Powerful Women Make The Greatest Friends by austusnobet(op): 11:44am On Jun 07, 2013
Kelly Rowland has done okay for herself since her days with Destiny’s Child. More than okay, really. She’s had a handful of solo hits, is embarking on a short tour this summer, and has just signed on to be a judge on The X Factor. But all of this only looks good until you compare Rowland to her former bandmate Beyoncé — which, apparently, Rowland has been doing for quite awhile. Rowland’s new single, “Dirty Laundry,” is about how she was resentful of Beyoncé’s success in the wake of Destiny’s Child. “When my sister was onstage killin’ it like a motherf*cker,” Rowland sings, “I was enraged, feelin’ it like a motherf*cker.” She recently had an emotional breakdown onstage in D.C. when she performed the song.
Few women are unlucky enough to have their successes measured against Beyoncé’s. But that feeling of resentment rather than joy at the personal and professional achievements of another woman is something most of us can relate to. The economy sucks, and awesome jobs are in short supply. In many industries, women are still perceived to be token hires - — which means that other women can feel like our chief competition. “Who wore it best?” isn’t just a trashy tabloid feature, it’s a dynamic that we apply to the sartorial choices of everyone in our similarly dressed friend group. If we’ve read The Atlantic in the past year or so, we’ve probably become convinced that there is a dearth of eligible men, so we’re all competing for them, too. And with the advent of dating apps like Tinder that allow potential suitors to judge women side-by-side, it’s not only women who are comparing and contrasting their bodies. When we meet other women who seem happier, more successful, and more confident than we are, it’s all too easy to hate them for it. It means there’s less for us.

The music industry is not one where you just keep singing. You need to evaluate everything you do and that is what I have been doing. I dropped the single and waited for a while for my fans to appreciate the song before coming out with a new song. I have since concluded work on a new single titled Gaga. Presently, we are promoting the video which will drop soonest. The Gaga video is a little bit extreme, it is crazy and it insinuates that you should let the music take you to another level. The video is one of the best things you have seen in the industry. It will be dropping in the next two or three weeks and I am sure people will be awed when they see it.
From Shut Up to Gaga, you seem to be an aggressive lady. Why is this?
The Shut Up song was basically about people who were running me down. I wanted to tell them to shut up. It is not as if I was fighting anybody, but I wanted to tell my fans that if you appreciate yourself, people will start appreciating you, and if you love yourself, people will start loving you. When you are working on something a lot of people will come out and say different things about you. Some will say it is a difficult industry and that you can’t make it, but if you believe in yourself you will progress in that field. If you have faith in what you do, you will succeed. For the song, Gaga, it is about music and its ability to take you high. I just wanted to do something different, unique and crazy.

What inspired the song, Gaga?
The inspiration for the song was basically music. I was looking for a song that would make you work without getting tired. If you want to focus on something and you don’t want to be distracted then the song you should listen to is Gaga. I know a lot of people in night clubs, churches and several other places love music and that was why I decided to do the song for them.

Seven years down the line, he has the AY Show which gets good reviews.
