Soyinka has angered the children of anger again. They would have loved Soyinka to castigate Buhari over nothing. Wailing wailers, always wailing.... |
When I was reading this story, I was telling myself that this girl would get the bashing of her life. You don't expose yourself on nairaland, you can only end up regretting it. |
[quote author=authority2006 post=36883412]Goodluck Jonathan gave one of the most shameful and ridiculous excuses of any person who ever occupied the exalted office of President when he claimed ignorance of the serious malfeasances that went on during his administration. That was passing the buck taken to a new low. Certainly, any leader who claims ignorance of the torrents of putrefying and sordid corruption stories that flowed under and through his presidency is only being clever by half. Surprised? How could Jonathan claim he was “hearing for the first time” about some of these scandals? Wasn’t it at the peak of some of these scandals he announced to a stunned world that “stealing is not corruption”? Goodluck Jonathan gave one of the most shameful and ridiculous excuses of any person who ever occupied the exalted office of President when he claimed ignorance of the serious malfeasances that went on during his administration. But he was not short of advice. Those of us who are little fries wrote about it. Big pens like Wole Soyinka wrote about it. Big guns like OBJ fired off a few rounds. But rather than heed advice, GEJ doubled-down and continued to bask in the delusion of ephemeral grandeur, acting as if he would be President for life. He buried his head in the sand like the proverbial ostrich and pretended that all was well. Rather than listen, he sent his attack dogs after everybody who had anything deemed unsavory to say. Reuben Abati even boasted once that his boss’ opponents underrated him at their own perils; that GEJ knew how to “wrong foot” them at every turn. They forgot they were dealing with the real “big boys” of Nigeria. GEJ forgot that they actually “let” him be President and they could “take” the presidency from him if they chose to do so. No sooner had he become President than he started behaving as if (and indeed his wife said it publicly many times that) it was now the turn of “his people” to do whatever pleased them with the nation’s resources. Talk about the child who was tasting soup for the first time and messed up his clothes in the process. Now, he is making nocturnal visits to the new powers-that-be, looking for salvation and claiming he did not smell the rot in his government. Those who backed IBB and his fellow travelers in overthrowing Buhari in 1985 knew that the Buhari/Idiagbon anti-corruption freight train was coming through their lives. But they didn’t reckon with Nemesis. They didn’t reckon with the likelihood that Buhari would return, albeit through the ballot box, some 30 years later, to continue where they had stopped him. When a person tries to accomplish a mission two, three or four times, you have to believe in his doggedness and you have to take him seriously. Many people (me included) who criticized Buhari for not having picked his Ministers by now have been shut up by the apparent success of this anti-corruption crusade. Let the house mice go forth and announce to the bush mice; that there is a new Sherriff in town. His name is General Muhammadu Buhari. And Stealing is now Corruption. Like Satanoids like fake Peace Committee, enemies of progress. Ride on Mr President. |
Former military head of state Lieutenant General Abdulsalam Abubakar (rtd) and other members of the National Peace Committee for the 2015 general elections were rattled by the stubborn posture and utterance of President Muhammadu Buhari during a meeting with him earlier today. Mr. Abubakar had led members of the so-called Peace Committee in yet another mission to plead with Mr. Buhari not to probe the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan. However, several participants at today’s meeting told SaharaReporters that the president remained obstinate and made no secret of his determination to proceed with the probe. SaharaReporters learnt that today’s meeting was a stepped up version of previous failed attempts to sway Mr. Buhari from his determination to probe acts of corruption by officials of Mr. Jonathan’s administration. SaharaReporters had revealed that former Commonwealth Secretary General Emeka Anyaoku visited President Buhari to press the case for letting bygone be bygone shortly before the latter’s departure for an official visit to the US. Our sources had disclosed that Mr. Anyaoku had undertaken his mission to the president at the behest of Mr. Jonathan. During Mr. Buhari’s US visit, American officials handed him dossiers that detailed billion dollar thefts perpetrated by key officials of the Jonathan administration. Members of Mr. Buhari’s delegation during his US trip disclosed that the extent of the looting left the Nigerian president angry, and strengthened his determination to unearth the widespread embezzlement of Nigeria’s funds. Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State, who was on the presidential delegation at a meeting with US Attorney General Loretta Lynch, later told Nigerians that US officials revealed that one of Mr. Jonathan’s ministers, whom he did not name, stole as much as $6 billion. Even though Mr. Oshiomhole did not disclose the name of the concerned minister, checks by SaharaReporters revealed that the rapacious former minister is Diezani Alison-Madueke who held the portfolio of Petroleum for most of Mr. Jonathan’s tenure. Ms. Alison-Madueke is currently in London. ... ............... Link: http://saharareporters.com/2015/08/11/corruption-probe-peace-committee-shocked-meeting-president-buhari |
otijah:And how did that affect you and brother Gideon? |
Ayameze2015:You guys are the ones trying so hard to knock your heads off because he didn't pick a fight in his response. Kind of disappointment to you guys.. |
sweatlana:The same way they were slaves to you people from 2011 to 2015. |
Shekau1:SS have constitutional rights to detain anybody as long as security and safety of this nation is concerned. Not this kind of enlightenment, I mean real enlightenment, like when these agencies go beyond their constitutional rights. |
Shekau1:And what was not civil in what the agencies have done so far? I need enlightenment pls. |
babestella:The last time I checked, nobody has been put in prison so far. And do you want Buhari to tell the media what to publish and what not to publish about these thieves? Because I didn't understand you. I hope you are already gainfully employed? If not, the thieves that you are defending here have done great deal of damages to your future as a Nigerian living in Nigeria, you may not know yet. |
estman:You should have presented your father during the presidential election since GEJ had turned out to be a failure. Fuul. |
So touching. Dream comes true. |
A flight attendant with one of the international airlines, Micheal Ray Huerata, has revealed his encounter with an elderly Nigerian man who was traveling out of Nigeria for the first time. Read what the flight attendant wrote below: - "I'd like to share with you the most meaningful experience I've had in my 2+ years of flying. While boarding our flight from Nigeria last night, the man you see in this picture was seated in an aisle seat. As I walked by him, he waived me down and after I approached, he said "I must go to the toilet to relieve myself." I said "Ok, sir, the toilet is right behind you," pointing towards the bathrooms near the back galley. He repeated his request, but this time he was motioning both hands towards his lap and politely said "but I need to go to the toilet, please." I assumed he was just reiterating his need to pee, so I again pointed towards the aft bathroom. He continued to motion towards his lap, but this time he grabbed his seat belt. It hit me; he had placed his seat belt on, but had no idea how to lift the buckle to release the belt! I apologized for not having understood, smiled, and showed him how to release his seatbelt. I shared this story with the crew shortly after and we were all humbled by the experience. But the story doesn't end here. Throughout the 12 hour flight, the man was as nice and generous as could be. He was smiling, enjoying the meals and entertainment, while always offering a genuine "thank you." In the last hour of the flight, he came to the back galley and was just looking around in awe, fascinated by the plane. He and I began to talk... In his decades of living, today was this man's first time in an airplane, his first time seeing a seatbelt, and his first time leaving his small village. As a mathematics and geography teacher, he'd always dreamed of visiting the United States. So he saved money his entire life so that one day he could purchase a flight, a new suit, and a camera. Today was that day, and today I had the distinct honour of being able to serve him on the first leg of that journey. I'm moved to tears that I could be so lucky to meet this man. Of the thousands of passengers I've ever served, of the rich and famous, successful and powerful, frequent travelers and million milers, serving this one man - in coach - was the greatest honour I've had as a flight attendant. Wailers can continue to wail, Amaechi had made the right decision. If you have any evidence against him, go to EFCC. He will definitely be part of Buhari cabinet, nothing you guys can do about it. Buhari doesn't need to impress association of wailers in his fight against corruption. when Amaechi is finally appointed, you guys are free to go on street protests. |
Youpele52:I may not know that of other countries, but in the case of Nigeria, half of that increment has to do with free money. |
naijainfogalery:Wrong analysis, do those birds look like N70 worth to you? |
Goke7:He is literate but still ignorant. |

All the interns who are receiving multiple outstanding stipends at a go, please let us defer our consumption by investing this "bulk money". Not all the interns will be retained by their employers but this stipends can be a stone for us to step up. Buhari administration will surely come up with his own empowerment scheme based on his campaign promise but SUREP will go with Jonathan’s administration. |
kilode100:Liar. Your posts say contrary |
agarawu23:Chai, see finishing! An apt response |
How I wish it is the Federal government of Nigeria that is investing our resources like this, just like that of UAE. |
ritababe:Boring and irritating question. |
onyibajoe:No notification, it is a year programme. I started last year May. |
Even me self don receive my April alert which also happened to be my 12th month alert. I parted with SUREP officially today. |
ugosly:Forward your question to Jona |
babasanti:All these militants you are calling are now paper tigers, they want to enjoy their share of national cake in peace even if it means that they will run to Benin Republic. OYO |
Timbuktou:I don't think living a double life in Nigeria could be that difficult. And the woman is just ready to move into his house, it would be possible for the guy to hide his criminal enterprise. |
"I have fired shots at our targets but nobody was killed". Was he shooting them in the legs or the didn't have bullets? |
I concur. stealing was just too much. Unprecedented. Even if you combine Abacha's, IBB's, Abdusalam's, OBJ's and Yaradua's eras loot together, it is not even up to half of what is missing under this corrupt Otuoke man. |
