Inter-Member Transfer now Possible on NASD Market 19 September 2014 We recognise that Investors may wish to migrate their portfolio from one Participating Institution to another. Before now the process was quite cumbersome We have streamlined this process (with the support of the CSCS) to allow for easy transfer of holdings between institutions. Investors who wish to switch positions between brokers should visit the CSCS website , : Download Inter-member form from CSCS website Fill the form and append the signatures of the Target House, Resident House and Investor Attach all possible required documents to the completed form. These include: Investor's account statement, Investor's consent letter, Letter of indemnity from the Target house etc. Submit the completed form at CSCS office (12th Floor, Stock Exchange House, 2/4 Customs Street Marina, Lagos, Nigeria). We expect that a transfer from one Participating Institution to another should not take more than 24hrs. |
Dexterax: Contact Avantajj, a portfolio manager, on this forum. How quaint |
chainy: Guyz am trying to build a portfolio. I have a few stocks presently. Pls advise on who can manage my small portfolio. ThanksNo no I am not a portfolio manager just an investor with a burgeoning portfolio. I would advocate u try understanding the nigerian stock market and managing your own portfolio and then add to your knowledge, advices from trusted stockbrokers or from forums such as this one. If u choose not to, u may speak with your stockbroker regarding this. Some stockbrokers do manage funds for their clients u know? Although getting a stockbroker or "professional" to manage for I can hinder the growth of your portfolio. Most times these so called managers dump unwanted stocks in your portfolio and with good reason too. For example a well informed manager could have dumped OANDO (a good stock as claimed by many) in your portfolio just after the announcement that the cop deal had been closed. When the closure of the deal was announced in the early hours of the morning, upon market resumption the price jumped about 9%. A well informed manager may know to sell and pass the stock onto u at the day's highest price say 28.07. From this point it's downhill for the stock, due to investor fears about the company's debt, etc. meanwhile u hold on because 1. U are afraid to sell and make a loss or 2. U think u do have a very good stock and it's price might appreciate " any moment from now". So while u contemplate all this your broker has gingerly invested the funds in another stock say, 7up. Later on when OANDO is at the lowest possible price and good to go the manager by this time would have increased his principle. He then buys OANDO at this low price say 20. All in all the manager's portfolio shows tremendous growth while yours has been basically stagnant all this time. But he will claim he has managed wisely for you. And really why not did he not buy for you OANDO?? But the thing u must always remember is why u started a portfolio in the first place. It was to grow your net worth and the versatile investor as opposed to the inflexible investor surely grows it and at a faster pace. |
passwelle: Not with margin accounts. However, If I sell enough volume of a stock sub market price, I may induce panic sales (herd mentality) and then return to take positions.Shorting only by institutional investors. They keep theirs borrow from mutual funds. Then sell them (your herd mentality now comes into play) they buy them at considerably reduced price and return them to mutual funds, mutual funds benefit from the renting out of the stocks and institutional investors benefit by turning a profit |
Dexterax: JAMB Question. So you have or do not have in your portfolio OANDO stock? This is if u do actually have a portfolio!! |
passwelle: I agree it doesnt always work. In your example though I am sure the MD most certainly did not lose out. He was was probably a disciple of Albert H.This example is similar; my broker was privy to inform, I got to know but unlike the big boys I did not jump out. Because I followed the thinking that it might not work. "How dare OANDO reverse from 36 at the stage where the minister has signed it is simply impossible." |
Dexterax: I don't care about your lame intentions at this point.Must admit you are a funny guy but What does all this mean exactly? "The cowboys will soon show you what it means to have oxygen tanks dumped on your asss" |
[quote author=passwelle]I do not think anyone percieves themselves as superman. In such an unregulated market as ours, NO ONE can be a superman really not even the longterm investors. Its more to do with understanding who the man or men behind the vision is and lastly the business. Which brings us to the definition of the word Cowboy (or men behind the vision). Dexterax defined this best and i paraphrase "they occupy the top echelon of management of flamboyant companies and there is always a disconnect between their words, their actions and press releases. However they always value their own interest over those of the other investors. For example the import of the disparity btw boe and bpd is that boe describes the amount of energy that is equivalent to the amount of energy found in a barrel of crude oil. The price 50k bpd will fetch you is not necessarily equal to the proceeds of selling 50k boe In saner climes a distinction is put on the terminology employed in press releases from Oil and Gas companies when they report this. No wonder I am yet to see OER which is listed on the TSX announce the increase to 62k bpd ![]() (I had done my calculations using 20 instead of 16, not paying attn to the last rally that based it's initial point at 12)/quote] Exactly like I said I regret not selling high to buy lower. And increase my principal only to reinvest in OANDO only this time around with almost twice as many shares. Why is this causing so much hullabaloo? |
Avantajj: Bought @ 20 and gleefully watched it get to 36(broker called and advised to sell. I refused. My target was 47 and I was close to bagging another one. (I had done my calculations using 20 instead of 16, not paying attn to the last rally that based it's initial point at 12). Was I greedy? Of course not! Why should I sell at 36 and watch everyone else sell at a higher price? I mean 'go to nsempa and read what they are writing there' I said to my broker; 'OANDO will get to 50', 'no oh I perceive 60', 'OANDO will reach 100 once the cop deal is closed. We are waiting at 100'.All I intended here was to show the inner thinking and workings of a fellow investor. Apologies for making some people unhappy by coming out to "confess". Because one does not follow another's slippery nature and style of pretending to know it all, or hiding what they are doing/did (all possibly bogged down with failure or might I say insurance) does not mean you can or should make derogatory remarks. Have u any real investments or you just whiling away time? |
No 'peeps' I actually expected teeth opening and no comment #sillyboys |
Avantajj: How silly are some peoples conclusions! Perceive themselves to be superman (never making errors, really?) or just no guys or balls to tell the truth. Just jive around using the word cowboy ( which means what exactly) because they have little to nothing invested.*No guts |

4dchairman: 9You misunderstand me, I am staying the course, just that selling at 36 and later buying at say 20 would have been much more rewarding |
4dchairman: I hope you're right,I'm Kneck deep in the stock .Bought @ 20 and gleefully watched it get to 36(broker called and advised to sell. I refused. SKYQUEST: Deal all, I want to make short to medium term entries into any 10 of the following picks at the entry price indicated, make una please advise me biko!:On your list there are only three I have paid attn to. Skye bank - it might fall further but I have begun buying (I never bought before now because of the TA that it wasn't ready to rally) I am expecting it to rally in about 3-4 wks I abandoned fidelity because the eventually rally will be short CCNN should be for later. TRANSCORP is advisable, yes it will definitely rally. I bought @ 3.60 around the time mercylicious said she bought. This was before all that noise. You might like to add Wema for your short term goal. We expect a rally in a month. Yes don't be shy to contradict Naysayers target 100% for this one. My Trading risks are high. ie I bought MRS and CONOIL @ 42 and 49 when nobody mentioned them but were consumed by OANDO and later transcorp and eterna. I expect their matters to end by oct ending. I also bought neimeth about 2wks ago @ range 1 to 1.06. I invested lesser funds than I did with MRS and CONOIL because of low trading volumes. So I can leave it easily. Buy early buy low. Have a personal reason why u are buying that stock. All the stocks I have bought have good FA. Eterna is also a good one and I missed the short rally because again like mercylicious I was waiting @ 3. I am still waiting never jumped and bought because of the hype. I have a conviction it will begin rally end of oct. @ 3. We will see. It cant be dead on target of course but we will see. But always think of buying LOW. This has been 70% of my portfolio's strength. |
ihedioramma: What is the name of the stock and why?Actually the why has been given it is name u seek. It is FOrte oil. Buy at range 160-180 ( that's if it comes down, and if it does then we are definitely on schedule for another rally) before October. Thank goodness for FO. At least I can boast of truly making money this year! |
Dexterax: If it's any comfort to the superstitious, I've got a picture of the Wall Street Charging Bull as my screensaver for the week...I truly doubt that the bear will succumb to the bull this week! |
Buy this Stock! This stock is an icon of impossible achievement. Grace under the Bear pressure. NSE crash endured. ‘High-priced stock’ crowned. And ROI records broken. It doesn’t just make PROFIT, it makes history. |
I wonder, why is BusinessDay the only news medium reporting negative news about Conoil? Dexterax: Dear sir/madam,Prophet? Kind of what I was thinking. However I really admire myjoys strength and willingness to confront uncertainty head on, definitely the right person to bring the much needed encouragement during times of distress and hardship. But this is where it stops |
bigass: Myjoy08. Its unfortunate you see my golden advice as insult. Many things you said about Oando haven't come to pass this however doesn't mean you dont have privileged info. So if i were you I wont be going into arguments about Oando. In essence dont give yourself unnecessary pressure by saying much about Oando. Meaning you've said all you need to say about Oando.Think your observation is quite true regarding this fellow. But u have to agree that before the end of the year OANDO, transcorp, eterna, etc might actually appreciate significantly in price. |
sky2891: what if FO is after ETERNA and not Oando? |
The thought also crossed my mind that if truly FO is negotiating for acquisition then maybe it might not be OANDO but another coy. It could actually be the old flame MRS(chevron) |
Stock picks with strong upside potential for now Wema NAHCO Livestock MRS Market bound to recover sept15. A good number of stocks on NSE have strong upside. My other favorite picks Transcorp Skye Unity bank FO Eterna CCNN and OANDO |
Neimeth - guess the rally has gradually started. Wema - is good for the picking at the moment. No? Bought some at N0.98. Buying at range N0.95 to N0.98 |
Good morning everyone. I know Neimeth is not liquid but I was just wondering if it is time to buy say @ N1.05 for a N2.20 target price in say, one month |
