From that moment, Bobby had no moment of boredom once his parents stepped out of the house. Sefinatou provided the void that needed to be filled. It was a surprise how time moved so fast and his suspension was over.

The day Bobby resumed at the school, Mr. Johnson called him to his office. Bobby met Helen there.

"Now, listen to me and listen good," Mr. Johnson began. "Robert, I forbid you and Helen from having any relationship. You are here to learn, so stick to learning.

Bobby, I am warning you, I want you to steer clear of Helen. Thank God in a couple of months, you will be through with your programme."

Bobby listened in silence. Notably, he and Helen avoided looking at each other.

"Do I make myself clear?" Mr. Johnson thundered.

"Yes, yes, sir."


From then on, Helen snubbed him. He tried to explain his demeanor and apologize but she asked him to stay off. He moved on with his life.

Some weeks later, he was passing by the school cafeteria when he saw Mrs. Princess Johnson. She was supervising in the cafeteria, standing at the entry, and he had to walk right by her.

She stared at him as he approached. He tried a look of being nonchalant on his face and she showed no betrayal of emotion.

“Why, Mister Bobby Alashe,” she said in a mocking tone. He was surprised she knew his full name.

“How’s the professional video recorder, today?”

His heart sank as he realized she knew what had happened between Helen and him.

“I didn’t mean to cause any harm,” he mumbled.

“How kind of you,” she said.

“I’m sorry about Helen,” he said.

“Well, you paid the price, so no hard feelings, I suppose,” she replied.

She dropped her eyes to the front of his trousers as she said that. It was like she was teasing him! Then she gave him a little smile and turned to survey the lunch room. A bit awkward, Bobby got his meal and sat down. From where he was sitting, he kept glancing at her and, one time, he saw her looking at him. Then she looked away, like nothing had happened. In his mind, he could feel how hot Princess remained. He still had his fantasies about her.

For the remaining time that Bobby stayed at Dovey College, he was a 'good' boy. He soon forgot his dream about Helen.

He wrote his UTME, was able to meet the cut off marks required for his course and got admitted into Unlag to study Mass Communication.

His father would have preferred him to go to a private university, but Bobby didn't like the particular university his father wanted. He told his father he preferred Unilag.

Bobby thought Mr. Johnson was most likely glad to get rid of him. Well, life went on. Helen too must have gained admission. Bobby settled down for the new phase of life.

He was able to get Toyota Corolla car from his father. He also rented a room self-contain at Abule Egba as he said he could not stay at the overcrowded residential hall.
Bobby thought his dealings with Bayo Johnson and Princess, his wife, were over. He was very wrong, as things turned out.

It was a warm day in June and academic activities were well underway. Bobby was nineteen and his classes in the university didn’t look like they’d be that hard.

He’d finished up his morning classes and had just filled up his car at a petrol station in Sabo, Yaba.
