Forty-one students of Lead City University, Ibadan, bagged first class honours at the university’s convocation held on Thursday.

Tribune staffs, Mrs Oyin Olatunji, Mr Wole Efunnuga and Mr Wale Ojo-Lanre were among the total of 838 graduates, which comprised 768
undergraduates and 70 postgraduate students.

As disclosed by Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Kabiru Adeyemo, Ogunsanya Oluwatomisin of the Department of Psychology, with
a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.96 and Azeez Raheem, of the department of Accounting, with a CGPA of 4.86 emerged best graduating students.

Further, in his address, Adeyemo tasked the graduates to shun corruption, nepotism, fraud and other vices but be hardworking, charitable and render selfless service to humanity.

He especially urged them to portray the values of self-reliance, honesty, excellence, self-competence, and self-dependence.

The roll call of academics included Chancellor of the university, Professor Gabriel Ogunmola; Chairman, Governing Council, Professor Jide Owoeye; and Chairman, Board of Trustees, Emeritus Professor J. B. Aladekomo.

Meanwhile, the event also saw Chief of Staff to the Delta State Governor, Mr Tam Brisibe receive the university’s honorary doctorate degree of Science (Governance and Public Administration).

Brisibe, who delivered the convocation’s keynote address, urged Nigerians to shun their typical knack to point out the ills in the society, but see themselves as part of the problem and solution.

He decried the loyalty of many Nigerians to their ethnic group and religion, calling on Nigerians to consider the interests of the nation first before their ethnic or religious leanings.

To the graduating students, Brisibe called for perseverance amid the vicissitudes of the society that they were bound to face.

He, therefore, urged them not to be discouraged but be resolved to commit themselves to the development of the nation.

A revolutionary new spinal implant has enabled wheelchair-bound men, with a spinal-cord injury, to walk again, a report says.

According to a new research, whose results published in the journal Nature on Wednesday, the paraplegic men regained control of his leg muscles after they were implanted with electrical stimulators that could help compensate for the damage to his spinal cords.

The research, conducted by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL), said the procedure consisted of targeted electrical stimulation of the spinal cord, combined with intense physical rehabilitation, which leads to activating the spinal cord via an electrical pulse.

“We have observed neurological recovery in our three participants which has never been seen before,” Lead researcher professor Gregoire Courtine, adding that the new technique works by reconnecting communication pathways between the legs and the brain, which have been damaged by a spinal injury.

“We stimulated the spinal cord the same way the brain would do naturally. This synergy enabled the paralyzed person to make a hip flexion and swing movement,” he added.

There was commotion in a U.S. hospital after two men who each believed they were responsible for a woman’s pregnancy showed up for the birth of the baby, but hospital staff refused to let them both stay.

In a video going viral online, the expectant mother is seen lying on a bed, preparing for delivery while the two potential fathers sat in a corner.

The Hospital staff soon opens the door for a security man who asked that one of the men leaves because according to the hospital rule only the expectant mother and one person is allowed to be in the room with hospital staff during delivery.

Both men refused to leave and said they wanted to stay to see whose child it is.

“Look, this is the thing, sir, we don’t know if I’m the father or he’s the father so we both cannot go… We aren’t bothering nobody,” one of the men said.

The woman also didn’t want them to leave and kept asking employees, “what’s the problem?”. She was told it was the rule of the hospital but she refused to listen.

As tension heightened, one of the men told hospital staff:

“Let’s calm down so we can see who the baby looks like.”

Well, the hospital staff wasn’t having it as she packed her things and left the woman and both potential fathers.

Cool FM OAP, Daddy Freeze who seems to be taking a swipe at the Catholic Church in his new Instagram post, claimed that the essence of Mary or Christ can never be transferred into statue.

The leader of Free the Sheeple movement who shared a video of statue of Mary being washed away by a flood, described the worship of Mary and Christ’s statue as idolatry. Daddy Freeze wrote;
