Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested a suspected impersonator posing as the former Executive Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Ibrahim Lamorde. The suspect, Promise Tochi Nwalozie was arrested in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, in a sting operation that yielded the arrest of six other internet fraudsters. One of the fraudsters, Onukagba Uche Prosper, is a youth corps member serving in the Tai Local Government Area of Rivers State. Nwalozie was using the identity of Lamorde to send scam mails to foreigners, mostly Europeans and Americans and in the process extorted sizeable amount of foreign currencies from them. His weapon of fraudulent interaction with his victims was a fake electronic copy of the identity card of the former EFCC's boss. Besides, he was also posing as Barrister Peter Jackson, a spurious lawyer working with the National Judicial Council, NJC in Nigeria. As a lawyer, he was defrauding his victims by assuring them that he would help in the recovery of money lost to different Nigerian cyber fraudsters. To do this, Jackson was collecting various sums of money as service charges from his victims. Some of his victims are: Betty. G. E, an American and Georgina M, an Australian. In addition to all these, Nwalozie had multifarious electronic scam documents in various folders in his e-mail box, ostensibly for the payment of a spurious N12,500,000.00( Twelve Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira only) to one Robert Giese, an American, by the "Office of the Presidency, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Abuja". To further deceive Giese, he swore to a fictitious " Affidavit Of Claim of Federal High Court of Nigeria" deposed to by a fake Justice Ibrahim Auta, OFR, on behalf of Giese. The "Affidavit" was signed by a former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Bello Adoke. To achieve his fraudulent schemes, he had several e-mail addresses such as: sirpeterjackson@gmail.com,promisenwalozie@gmail.com, bigenoughforcare@gmail.com among others. Aside Prosper, (youth corps member), five other internet scammers were arrested in the sting operation and they are: Onuoha Akachukwu Danhessy; Ohaji Ujunwa Raymond, a.k.a Francis Ray Emar; Henry Onyebuchi Ogbonna; Eboh Emeka Emmanuel and Nwaorgu Chidi Precious. Prosper was involved in online dating scam, also known as romance scam. Through the scam, he defrauded unsuspecting foreign widows, mostly from Europe and America. His scam identity was Mark Fest, a United States soldier serving in Bulgaria. To perfect his fraudulent schemes, he secured a " business relationship" with one of the arrested fraudsters, Onuoha Akachukwu Danhessy, his cousin. Danhessy was serving as an intermediary between him and one H. Macaulay, a Nigerian undergraduate at the Medical University, Varna, Bulgaria who was assisting him to collect and send proceeds of their criminality to Nigeria, through Western Union and Money Gram money . All the three victims of Prosper are Philippinos: Ivy P. S, ( $2,000); Mel R.( 800 Pound Sterling) and Lolita T. Danhessy has other ingenious schemes to his credit. In his romance scam, he had reportedly raked in a total sum of $50,000( Fifty Thousand United States Dollar) from Maria J. Al, an American that he promised to marry. Ohaji Ujunwa Raymond a.k.a Francis Ray Emar is another suspected impersonator who was sending scam e-mails to his victims in Europe and America in the name of Abubakar Malami (SAN), Attorney General and Minister of Justice and Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, Minister of Finance. One of his victims, Georgina M, an Australian, lost $1,500( One Thousand, Five Hundred Dollars) to him. Other suspected scammers are Henry Onyebuchi Ogbonna, a member of a syndicate serving as a cashier to his group members, Eboh Emeka Emmanuel, another romance scammer that duped a Dubai- based Philippino: E. F. Aquino of N500,000( Five Hundred Thousand Naira only) and Nwaorgu Chidi Precious, another accessory to romance scam and cashier to Nwalozie. All the suspects are in EFCC custody and would be charged to court soon. Source: http://www.lindaikejisblog.com/2016/08/photo-efcc-arrests-corp-member-fake.html?m=1 Cc: lalasticlala

The EFCC, has arrested one Chike Nnaemeka, alias Dr. Justified Isioma Nnaemeka Emerald, for conspiracy and obtaining money under false pretence to the tune of about N6.7million. Nnaemeka, who claimed to be a gynaecologist, allegedly collected the money, under different requests, from his victim, Ani Nkechi Joy, an employee of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, after she was introduced to him by one of her classmates at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State. Following their meeting, the suspect, who also claimed to be an orphan and a lone Prince of Ihekpe Kingdom in Ogwuashi-Uku, Delta State, was joined in a traditional wedding with the victim on June 6, 2015. In her petition, the complainant said: ‘‘During the wedding preparation, Justified brought up so many stories bordering on cultural issues that I or anyone from my family is not supposed to visit his home town until after my marriage. He also said that the tradition of his place as a lone Prince demands that I sponsor every financial aspect of the traditional marriage, but that he would refund me to the last one Naira I spent.” However, the complainant became ensnared in the suspect’s web of lies when he claimed to have properties that both Zenith Bank Plc and Diamond Bank Plc were purportedly interested in. The suspect was said to have shown the complainant some documents to the properties, while also requesting her to provide some money to enable him complete the process. Unsuspectingly, the complainant allegedly transferred some amounts of money to the suspect, after being assured that he would refund her. But on December 23, 2015, the suspect allegedly left the house on the pretence that he was going to sign the agreement papers with the respective bank to finalise the transaction. He, however, did not return home until December 29, 2015. According to the complainant, the suspect allegedly claimed that the lawyer to the bank had died and that his lawyer would not allow anyone else to sign the papers, except a legal practitioner. At this stage, the complainant became suspicious and made frantic efforts to inquire about the suspect’s real identity and what he does for a living from some of his acquaintances. Also, the complainant alleged that the suspect stole the sum of $3000 belonging to her boss. When the complainant asked the suspect about the missing money, the suspect allegedly said that the Chief Priest of his village said it was a spirit that stole it. Meanwhile, investigation has revealed that the suspect, who is married to another woman who had three children for him, also lied that his mother passed on some years back. The suspect will soon be charged to court, after investigation is concluded. Source :http://www.lindaikejisblog.com/2016/08/efcc-arrests-doctor-for-n67m-love-scam.html?m=1 |
– The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Oyegun, made some revelations about the true state of Nigeria under President Buhari – He detailed some of the financial impropriety allegedly perpetrated under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration – He warned that the party would no longer fold its arms to watch the PDP and its agents churn out lies against the Buhari government The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Oyegun, on Thursday mocked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying the opposition party lacked the moral right to speak on the state of the nation. According to him, “it is stomach-churning and downright immoral for the ruinous PDP, which has yet to show remorse or exhibit any form of penitence for presiding over the mindless looting of the nation’s treasury, to now put itself up as the saviour of Nigerians.” Oyegun who noted that even among thieves, there must be honour, said Nigerians, who are now bearing the brunt of the economy that was mindlessly mismanaged by the PDP, cannot forget in a hurry that some $15 billion – which is about half of the nation’s foreign reserves at the end of the tenure of the PDP-led federal government – was mismanaged under the guise of the equipping the military, when in reality the funds were largely salted away by PDP fat cats. According to him, Nigerians are not unaware that just before the last general elections, some $2.1 billion was shared out to just a few PDP faithful, either to be used for praying against Boko Haram or for phantom communication purposes, when in reality the soldiers whom the money was meant to equip were dying in droves. He listed other instances of the massive looting of the national till under the PDP to include: 1. The $20 billion in oil proceeds that was never paid into the Federation Account 2. The N33 trillion in national oil revenue that was not accounted for, considering that while the nation earned in excess of N56 trillion over five years under the last Administration, the total budget for those years amounted to about N23 trillion 3. The $47 million that was distributed to a few individuals just to oil the election process before the last polls. He said while indeed it was glaring that the PDP-led administration was profligate and rapacious, nothing prepared Nigerians for the mind-boggling discoveries that have emerged in the past one year, including the fact that just a handful of people could have plundered far more than half of what belonged to a country of over 170 million people. “What is happening now is clear: Just because the farmer has not checkmated the thief, he (thief) has become so emboldened that he is now making a move to even cage the farmer from whom he has been stealing. “How else can one characterize the most annoying statement by the PDP that it is on a mission to rescue Nigeria, the tale of a killer presenting himself as a life saver! “Are these people jokers? Do they think Nigerians do not realize that the stage for today’s tough economic situation was set by the same PDP that is now masquerading as a saviour? “Worse still, is this PDP’s bold face not a ploy to distract the Administration that is on a rescue mission? “Nigeria is currently in ICU (intensive care unit), after it was rescued from PDP. Yet, the same PDP has the audacity to constantly pillory the ‘doctors’ trying to save the ‘patient’,” he said. The Chairman appealed to Nigerians not to succumb to the antics of the PDP but to continue to support the efforts of the present Administration, which is working day and night to ease the impact of the tough economic situation on the citizens. He added: “Yes, we knew the situation was bad, but we never imagined that it was this bad. “Yes, we knew that the vast majority of our national patrimony had been stolen and converted by PDP and their cronies, but we clearly under-estimated the scope of the stealing. “The fact that our country and people survived the PDP and the last administration is perhaps the 8th wonder of the world. “But we have long moved beyond bothering about this mindless party to seeking to bring the nation back to its feet. What we cannot fathom is for the same PDP to now be heckling us and pretending to be the new saviour of Nigerians. “Engaging in a campaign of calumny by claiming that the country’s economy under President Muhammadu Buhari was deteriorating is so unconscionable on the part of the PDP, which frittered away the huge windfall that the nation earned during the years that oil sold for over $100. “Even with the number of PDP operatives and officials who have confessed or admitted their complicity in the looting of the treasury, the party has continued to try to pull the wool over the face of Nigerians. “This shameless distraction must stop forthwith, and here is serving notice that henceforth, the PDP will no longer have a field day in trying to twist facts and present the Buhari administration, which is on an urgent rescue mission, as the villain.” Source: https://www.naij.com/934179-oyegun-makes-shocking-revelation-nigeria-links-pdp.html?source=index_main |

EX-President Goodluck Jonathan has again denied allegations that he is sponsoring the Niger Delta Avengers. He added that the allegation was being sponsored by those who were intimidated by his rising profile in Nigeria and abroad. The former President said this in a statement by his spokesman, Mr. Ikechukwu Eze, on Thursday. There had been publications that the Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government had begun probing Jonathan over alleged link to the Niger Delta Avengers. The statement, however, said, “It is sad that the publications wore the cloak of deceit from the same misguided characters that are hell-bent on pulling down the former President despite his clear record of diligent service to his country and long-standing commitment to the good of the society. “There is no doubt that there exists such people who may have scores to settle with the former President, but are now feeling frustrated by the fact that his national and international profiles have continued to rise despite their recourse to endless muck-raking character assassination. Such people will stop at nothing to continue to throw obstacles, albeit futilely, on his path. “We are aware that the same people approached other well-meaning newspapers with the same false information, but they were wise to turn it down on account of its absurdity.” Jonathan advised the media to be professional and do more of investigative reporting instead of making reference to allegations of aggrieved militants. He said no responsible security agency would release such falsehood to the press. The statement added, “From what we know about intelligence gathering, there is no responsible government agency that would rush, as claimed in the newspaper stories, to adopt the accusations of a questionable rebellious organisation as its own findings, without applying the professional processes of rigour and due diligence. “Our media houses should be careful not to make the country a laughing stock by being hoodwinked into passing off the perverted voices of irritant groups as that of our well-respected official and security authorities.” The ex-President said newspapers promoting spurious allegations against him were toying with libel and destroying the image of Nigeria. “Apart from toying with the serious issue of libel, those newspapers lending themselves to be cheaply used by miscreants are also doing gross disservice to our collective good and the image of the country,” he said. The Vice-Chancellor of Babcock University, Prof. Ademola Tayo, said it was necessary for the government to increase investment in the education sector in order to drive national development. The don gave the advice on Thursday when he and a team from the university, visited the corporate headquarters of Punch Nigeria Limited. He said, “We believe that education is a tool for development and that is why there is need for so much investment to be made in the sector to liberate people from ignorance, because ignorance is a disease which has to be stamped out. “This is why, by God’s grace, we at Babcock, have been able to move to territories where others don’t want to, particularly in the area of Medicine, and I’m glad to say that come December 2016, the first set of students will be graduating from the Benjamin Carson School of Medicine in the school, which was named after a Seventh Day Adventist and a renowned retired neurosurgeon, Benjamin Carson. “In fact, he (Carson) is collaborating with us to make sure that we move the School of Medicine to the next level. In there, we have opportunities for students to go abroad for external clinical exposure. Just a couple of days ago, some of them returned from India, where they went for their clinical rotation. Also, four days ago (Sunday), two of our students returned from Mexico where they went to represent the whole of the country in a competition. “This is the same thing in our Faculty of Law. We came first among 45 faculties of Law at the last Bar Examination. All these are possible because we believe so much in excellence and we want to do our best to contribute our quota to high education standards in Nigeria.” However, the don highlighted some factors militating against the development of education in the country and the poor ranking of Nigerian universities globally. He said, “Some of the factors being used to measure a university’s standards in the world include its visibility on the Internet, but we all know that Internet infrastructure in the country is poor. “Power outage is also a factor. These are some of the issues that universities cannot control except the government. So, in a way, some of the factors affecting the performance of universities in the country have to be addressed by the government. “But at Babcock, we don’t want to keep dwelling on these problems, so, we are going for independent power projects and very soon, we will commission it. This will help us to have uninterrupted supply of electricity on our campus. The project is 80 per cent completed. With this, we will be able to use the Internet to drive everything that we do in the university.” Source: http://punchng.com/well-graduate-maiden-medical-doctors-december-babcock-vc/
