Which election?,1979 election was won by Shagari with over 5million votes,Awolowo came second with 3million votes and Azikwe came third with over 2million.

Both Obafemi Awolowo and Nnamdi Azikwe contested the 1979 presidential election with Philip Umeadi and Ishaya Audu respectively,both Christians as running mates.
Muslims didn't cause any uproar then especially in the Southwest where majority were Muslims,and they voted massively for Awolowo.
Anybody that didn't see anything wrong with the choices of both Awolowo and Azikwe then and are criticizing Tinubu's choice now is a pure hypocrite.
