TV/MoviesWe Loved Half Of A Yellow Sun But Where Is Kainene by ayex2013(op): 10:11am On Oct 19, 2014
Now that the half of a yellow sun madness is dying down, there are a few issues we do need to address.

First of all, thank you Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie for this incredible story, we love it and it was well received.

Thank you Odenigbo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) for your incredible performance in that lead role and how you managed to get the house help pregnant in place of your wife. You are a real African man. Ku ishe.

https://www.ngtrends.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/video-kush-lets-live-together-ft-1764x700.jpg

Thank you Olanna (Thandie Newton) for staying with your man in the middle of trials and tribulations, a war, death and poverty. Dare I say all these indomie generation girls will never ever do it. You are a great example they will never ever follow.

Thank you Ugwu (John Boyega) for teaching us never to eat your palm oil infested fried rice. You are a terrible cook but that's okay you were an excellent man and a great servant to Odenigbo through all the ups and downs.

Thank you Richard (Joseph Mawle) for sleeping with your African wifes sister. In a normal world Kainene should have poisoned you for this, but it is a movie so we don't know why she chose to act like an oyinbo woman and let you live. Don't ever try such nonsense again.

Thank you Ms. Adebayo (Genevieve Nnaji) for flirting with Odenigbo, getting our hopes up only to leave him high and dry so he could go and impregnate the maid. We are very angry with you for this but that's fine. It was only a movie. We forgive you partially.

Thank you Mama (Onyeka Onwenu) for reminding us how evil African mothers can be until they finally regain their senses. You also managed to show us how stubborn African women are when you stayed back and died in your husbands house. It was a very foolish decision but this is how African women behave 90% of the time. We are not surprised, just incredibly impressed by how well you played the role.
And Finally...

Kainene (Anika Noni Rose), thank you for showing us the smart ones are the ones profiting from every situation they can, double trading with both sides of a war and staying rich and well provided for. We still think you should have poisoned Richard but maybe you can still do it if they find you before they make part 2 (Every successful Nigerian movie must have part 2). We are sad you are still missing after all these years. You should have listened and just stayed back when you were told the journey was a dangerous one. Kainene where in the world are you? We miss you. Come back soon. We still have hope that you are very much alive. So that you can narrate your ordeal for us and we can make part 2.

This is a single poetic take on the movie half of a Yellow Sun by one inspired writer. It is completely intended to sound fictitious and comedic. Hope you had a good laugh. I know I certainly did. We all loved half of a yellow sun but please, where is Kainene.

Fashion3 Fashion Blunders Of The 21st Century by ayex2013(op): 7:12am On Sep 22, 2014
These is mostly talking about Men’s Fashion, If we decided to start listing out fashion blunders from women we will need to make that list climb till 3000. There are however something any man should not be caught dead doing and by doing we mean wearing…

https://www.ngtrends.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/fashion-mistakes-men-make-1764x700.jpg

1. Carrot Jeans

I think this ones were either invented because the manufacturer ran out of material and did ot want to come clean or someone high up in the fashion industry was bored to bits, asides how ridiculous they make you look, the only fashion statement this is making bends all the way towards immaturity. And whats more, they never look good on anyone. Probably because of the always ridiculous choice of shoes. If you were wearing this before you need to stop embarrassing yourself.

2. Oversized Shirts

This one is plenty common among men of the Black American decent. The shirts are obviously too big but they buy them and wear them anyways… I dunno maybe they are expecting to gain a ridiculous amount of weight or they are just trying to save money on clothing for when they get bigger. Whatever the reason is, its not cool, ad very honestly it makes you look homeless wearing over-sized clothing up and down. Stop it!

3. Pairing Socks With Sandals

This is by far the most common, I see geeks do this all the time, I have definitely seen Mark Zuckerberg do this but that still does not make it ok. You can not-under any circumstance-pair socks with sandals. It is ridiculous, funny and most of all unacceptable. What more, most of the people who commit this blunder usually do so wearing shorts of 3 quarters. God help us.

Go forth and commit these blunders no more.

There are so many TV shows on TV now its hard to keep up, Most TV networks have anywhere from 10 to 30 big name shows running year in year out. Many get canceled and many stay on to succeed. But the shows we are about to list here are mostly all concluded, this shows weren’t only successful but also made everyone gather in proper time to see every new episode. They are captivating, real and enjoyable.

1. Breaking Bad

Many might argue this one started out a bit slow… I have had many friends tell me they couldn’t endure past the first few episodes of the first season. But I promise you this 5 season money maker is one of the best things to ever happen to TV. Walter White & Jesse Pinkman will forever be legends! So buckle down and take some time out to see this show. You might learn a lot.

2. Make It Or Break It

This show will inspire every kid to be the best they can and always go for it. If you have Siblings or kids anywhere from ages 10 to 18 you should let them see this show. The story and the mood surrounding the acting makes this for me one of the best TV shows till date. Definitely worth your time. This one ended many years back too.

3. Game Of Thrones

This one isn’t quite over yet, in fact we almost have no idea how many more books George R.R. Martin will be writing but the TV rendition is the more than successful 4 seasons of Game Of Thrones. No spoilers in case you are one of the many who are yet to see this show.

4. Suits

The season for finale was just aired a few days ago, and boy was it golden. This show is for intellectuals, people who want to see behind the scenes and figure out what makes the biggest players in business and law tick. It’s also for the ladies who want to Swoon Over how perfect Gabriel Macht is. It’s only 10 episodes per season so find some time to see it. New season coming in the summer.

5. Da’Vincis Demons

This is supposed to be a rendition of the life and story of young Leonardo Da’Vinci as it pertainsto his home city of Florence and the family who control the city “The Medicis”. Every episode of this one is pleasant surprise and the stories will have you cringing for more. Only 2 seasons concluded so far and more coming real soon.

CelebritiesRegina Askia Writes On Domestic Violence Against Women by ayex2013(op): 10:20am On Sep 14, 2014
Former Nollywood star Regina Askia Williams took to her Facebook wall to express her thoughts on domestic violence and how it can be avoided. In the piece, she addressed the notion by some women who believe a man beats a woman out of love. She says any violent act in a relationship is the shadow image of fear and that the best thing to do is to deal with the root cause of the fear. Find her incisive post after the cut…

Domestic Violence
What the heck is that? Folks this is only for mature minds and not a forum for ridicule, small talk nor look good ops. This is a serious issue. We all know when conflict arises, and there is an inability to settle amicably, more often than not violence ensues. Why? One party feels he/she needs to be heard and the other party is just not trying to hear it, voices are raised, words turn salty, things are thrown around including punches, regrettably.

Now if you are at the receiving end of those “salty words” or the landing pad for those flying objects and punches you feel a variety of emotions. First you feel small, then emotionally hurt, then physical degradation, the physical being the most dangerous of them all. You can get over words if you work at it, therapy can get you over wounded emotions, but how do you get over scars and post traumatic reenactments of fleeting moments when death said hello. How do you reconcile when you hear stories of those in that same situation who actually passed on. The person at the launch end of the punch also feels fleeting gratification that frustrating moments of torture from a mouthy ‘bi*ch” are over…but wait….she/he is not moving. Damn, I didn’t even hit her so hard. Waves of panic and terror take turns. Frantic efforts at reviving the fallen may be successful or not. Then comes bitter regret and the “I am so sorry” which too often also comes with “It is too late”. Note that sometimes there is absolutely no remorse, “We hear remarks like “Look what you made me do” or “Bit*ch asked for it”. Snoop Dog sings “If a bit*ch gets an attitude, pop it like its hot” yeah.

The question now is why do we feel the need to physically strike out at another when we feel we must impose our way of thought or action on them. What is that need to have others conform or get hurt? Now if we hurt them enough to get them to fall in line, have we secured true change or secured an act as a means of self-protection by our victims? In this case who is fooling who? As we reflect on these please consider your partners in relationships, your spouses and yes your children. Being raised African I often got the switch as did we all when we stepped out of line or when we chose to do business with the devil as in lying or stealing. Those were the big ones. Of course I turned out a well-rounded, well-adjusted individual I hope. But then how did this teach me to deal with frustrating situations? You got it right, the switch and if you were “bigger” than me, my mouth. Oh dear, you don’t want to be at the other end of my mouth. I don’t curse, I only tell the crystal truth with brutal delivery and at less than appropriate moments. Some would call them fighting words, starting sh*t or asking for it. Same reaction applies with violent spouses and relationships. In frustrating moments we attack each other with whatever arsenal at our disposal. Like animals the physically stronger survives. But we are more than animals, we are thinking reasoning people. So why do we react the way we do?
It is clearly time for a journey into self. What if at the moment of escalation like voices getting raised, we stop and walk away, or decide to leave it for another minute. What if at the moment you feel like raising your hand you imagine it was landing on your own face? What about writing your frustrations down on paper and discussing it with each other. We need to realize that violence begets violence. We especially African and African Americans need to find other ways for conflict resolution. With our children, we must talk and reason with them and follow up with modelling the required behavior and rewarding it when met. I really used to wonder why some parents would stand by and let their kids act out in the store, jack knifing and rolling all over the floor, because kid wants some toy whereas they could give one good slap on the butt and that nonsense is over. Now I know they let the child pull all his /her tricks while they stand firm on “No dear, you can’t have yet another Robocop”. Our children learn what we teach. I remember also (though sadly) when my kids acted up on outings and when we were driving home and I was all silent, my daughter would start asking “Mommy are you my friend” because she knew she was going to get a spanking for acting up.

We may be tempted to say that’s different from domestic violence, but violence is violence no matter the form. The sad thing about violence is that it’s cyclical, you will keep being violent, salty or “keep asking for it” unless you make a conscious effort to change the way you react in frustrating situations. If your spouse has hit you once, he will do it again. He will kneel with tears and a tremulous voice and beg your forgiveness, he will apologize, with flowers, shoes (leboutins , you know it), candle lit dinners and the sweetest (kiss and make up) loving. Aah yes!! for better or for worse. Stupid world people keep trying to break you up, you figure. In fact both of you will call up all those nosy pokers and warn them to mind their business and stay out of your relationship. For a while you will exchange secret smiles which will become quick unsmiling glances with silences you cannot explain, tension builds, arguments over silly stuff like why this cup is sitting on the side table and not in sink and an explosive argument over yet another mundane like a missed call. Then the flying objects and the blows come down. Who you going to call? You warned everybody to stay away and he knows because he made sure you have no relationships a mile outside of you and him. You are in a choke hold, all is quiet, his face is an inch from yours contorted in anger and vehemence, but all you hear is a ringing in your ears, you feel your body slacking and did you just fart? Damn.

Unless we make a conscious effort to deal with frustration differently we will continue to be violent, teach violence and experience violence in our families and society.

I have heard some flawed thinking from my African sisters; he beats me because he loves me. How come he does not let you beat him because you love him or don’t you? We cannot blame being violent with someone on “they made me do it”. No one can tell you how to control yourself or how to react to situations except you. Only you have the power to change you. Some men think it’s a power thing to slap someone into conforming but wise folks know that VIOLENCE IS THE SHADOW IMAGE OF FEAR. What are you so afraid of? The manly thing to do would be to really face that fear and deal with it rather than choose the cowardly way of beating up on a weaker person. A man incontinent with rage is as embarrassing as one incontinent of his bowels. (We could forgive bowel incontinence because it may be a medical condition). Now for those of us, who really have an out of control problem with rage, GET HELP now. We don’t want to see you on the six “o’clock news as having hurt somebody. For those women in abusive relationships get help or get out. We also don’t want to see you on the news as dead or as having shot somebody. Having said that, don’t expect an overnight change to a condition that took a life time to breed. The condition of violence and rage requires painstaking deconstruction during which there may be relapses. Some people recover while others take a while, but you should not wait around to find out.

There are a myriad of services for women and men in violent situations. There are also so many schools of thought on those services being targeted at destroying the black family unit, denying black kids a home, encouraging divorce among black folks and the further debasing of the black male(pointing them towards jail) and female (driving them to prostitution). Again, personal responsibility comes into play. Only you can choose the direction where your life leads. Just remember those things will happen with worse consequences when YOU are dead and your kids taken to foster homes. The above reasons are the poorest excuse to stay in a situation or relationship where your life is in danger. A strong black family needs men and women with their heads screwed on right. Get help if you need help.

My next post will focus us learning to handle frustration. I would also appreciate comments from those brave ones among you who have been to anger management classes. I would also appreciate comments on this black footballer who struck his fiancée and knocked her out cold and the one who put the switch on his son and is now facing child abuse charges. We must find another way other than violence.

The Lamborghini roadster is an Italian masterpiece with a 750-hp engine. It has a 6.5-liter capacity, and with its powerful 12-cylinder engine, it can go from 0-62 mph in 2.9 seconds. This beauty is worth every dollar. The Veneno is lightweight and it makes extensive use of carbon fibre-reinforced polymer. For this baby that has a top speed of 221 mph, the starting price is $4.5 million. Not bad, eh? There’s only going to be nine copies of the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster in 2014.

Sports10 Footballers Who Let Everyone Down by ayex2013(op): 8:07am On Aug 31, 2014
https://www.ngtrends.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/torress-ngtrends-com.jpg

Some footballers just let everyone down, some infact let themselves down so much their coping mechanisms were all but shameful... Checkout our list of 10 Footballers Who Let Everyone Down;

1. Luis Nani (Portugal)

We all know Cristiano Ronaldo's story, how he got signed to united from sporting lisbon and all that... Well Nani's story was similar, United were all set to purchase another winger who would set out to rule the world like the wonder kid they had previously landed from a similar venture. And then nothing for years, in fact many thought he was being watered down by Ronaldo's genius and then Ronaldo left united and still nothing. He was loaned back to Sporting Lisbon a few days ago and calling his return performance a disappointment is an understatement.

2. Fernando Torres (Spain)

Hot utility striker from Atletico moves to Liverpool and becomes a goal scoring sensation... Gets injured and moves to Chelsea for 50 million pounds and all he was doing there was gathering money for his pension plan and his 401k. Then the most embarrassing part is he refused a move away from Stamford bridge stating the remainder of his pay must be paid in full for the years left on his Chelsea contract. Probably because he know what he was earning at chelsea was robbery. Recently got loaned to AC Milan Good look not scoring over there.

3. Ricardo Kaka (Brazil)

As I recall this one was dubbed one of the best players in the world. Madrid had every intention of signing the two best players in the world when the shelled out over 130 million pounds for both players. Ronaldo went on to become an absolute sensation and Kaka went on to fade into obscurity. So terribly Obscure he moved back to AC Milan for free after 2 seasons... That terrible.

4. Bebe (Portugal)

This is by far the foolishest footballer on this list. Man UTD were doing the exact same thing again, signing a supposed to be star winger. And then BEBE was terrible. If he took a penaltyin front on an empty goal post the ball WILL end up in the dressing room. So many people had high hopes for him and then he sucked, to make matters worse he then went of to blame Cristiano Ronaldo's success for his own demise. Whoever scouted him has to have been sacked. Shameful.

5. Anderson (Brazil)

Its funny how this list has so many united players, not sure which team makes the worst signing decisions, Chelsea of Man UTD? This one was all set to be a Paul Scholes replacement. Signed for some 21 millions pounds was it. He had his corn rows looking fly like "I'm here to save your attacking midfield"... He did manage a single competitive goal for united in 3 years. That's all one can say.

The other day mans is strolling through the mall and I see this curved LED TV by Samsung for 30 million naira… No mistakes guys, I call the attendant and asked if there was some kind of error and she did well to hold back her laughter in mockery of my obvious confusion… Then you start to look around and you begin to notice the prices on these things. Samsung needs to be stopped!

I got into the car and was so tired to Drive to one of my friends Drove, on our way back I saw a friend I haven't seen in a while at another club trying to park I stopped to say hi and we entered the second club after a few minutes I decided to leave, right outside the club is a shawarma spot I got some and then I and my friends were headed Home and I was trying to eat my sharwama while my friend drove us home.

That's the Last I could remember. I found myself covered with Airbags and I came out of that car that tumbled and a good Samaritan took us to the Hospital. I am here asking anyone who can Pray or who is about to Pray!! To put me and my friends in Prayers God saved us all. Thank You and Good morning #ubifranklin

Mario Balotelli seems not to know how to stay out of trouble or maybe he just loves trouble that much. This is so not nice. A lot of people, including Italian footballer Mario Balotelli, are having fun at the expense of Uruguayan celebrated footballer Luis Suarez, who was sent home from the World Cup for biting Italian defender Chiellini during a match.

A poster of Suarez with his mouth open was placed at Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro and you can't imagine what people were doing. People are really wicked cos this has been taken too far if you ask me. See the photos after the cut...

G.O.O.D. Music is an American record label founded by rapper and producer Kanye West in 2004. “G.O.O.D.” is an acronym for “Getting Out Our Dreams”. The label is home to recording artists such as West himself, Big Sean, Kid Cudi, Pusha T, Mos Def, Q-Tip, D’banj… Kanye West added a new Naija act on his list yesterday signing young pop superstar Wizkid.
