The reason the feeling of shame works against success is, it often arouses the fear of failing again and the likelihood of being shamed again. So naturally for many, they choose to avoid a return to where they were humbled and forgo whatever reward that may lie beyond that spot.

I've had the same experience at both secondary and tertiary schools. Defining the experience as 'worrisomr' is the mildest way to put it.

I made a decision years ago, to be a part of my children's educational development. I created a time in my daily schedule, to review their academic activities by asking them as many questions as I could.

How do you cope with an overcautious partner when you are someone who enjoys the excitement of getting much done within a short time?

This is the dilemma of many relationships are going through. One is always playing catch up. And it is not a healthy imbalance because the ‘slow’ partner may give up and may withdraw support at some point, which may inevitably lead to the collapse of the relationship. However, this imbalance is not beyond remedy.

As an active partner, you must always endeavour to think and act at a pace which your partner can cope with. Busyness, the condition of having so many things to do doesn’t equate success and impact. The reason is simple, busyness destroys more than it builds.

Busyness affects the health adversely. It’s difficult to find the time to unwind when you’re busy knocking, in most cases meaningless things, off your to-do-list. You burn out quickly, become vulnerable to anxiety attacks and stress.


Inefficient use of time is also linked to busyness. The habit of busyness makes you build a life around work and work alone.

There’s no time for family and non-work related activities in your daily routine. So naturally, you spend longer hours on projects which you would’ve taken fewer hours to complete if you believed your family was equally important.


The spill over of the inefficient use of time is disharmony between work and life. An unbalanced life is an unfulfilled life. This is because you spend all your time everyday on one area, with no time left to fill needs in other areas of life.


There’s a consequence, your productivity suffers when you’re unable to establish harmony between work and life.

Chaos is an opportunity for an ordinary person to do an extraordinary thing only a genius can do.


A genius steps away from a chaotic situation and tries to find a simple solution that would calm the situation. The solution a genius eventually offers could be given by just anyone.


Regretablly, many of us choose not to do anything about a chaotic situation except complain, blame, resign to fate (but every situation can be changed except death) and become a part of the problem.

Few may put themselves forward and try to bring calmness only withdraw at the slightest opposition and doubts.

A genius can’t be stopped by failures and opinions of pessimists. A genius persists, searches patiently and persistently until they get to the ‘Eureka!” moment.

One who has come to the age of awareness knows that life gives to everyone, both good and bad things.


When you make peace with this reality, then you should learn and know the next thing to do after a bad thing has happened to you.


When a bad thing happens, the next thing to do is to first accept the reality; that something bad has happened but the worst hasn’t happened yet. The worst would happen when you can’t find the way out.


Then search for the right effort and the right place to apply it. Where you don’t know the right thing to do and how to do it, find out from those who know better than you do.


When you have received the right formula, apply it with diligence and devotion. And don’t give up easily or before you overcome, because even with the right formula, success may not come quickly.

All you have is the present, not the past and not the future. You can repossess whatever was lost in the past by focusing on taking advantage of the present opportunities.

And you could use the experience life has given you, to create a better version of what was lost in the past.

For the sake of business sustainability, it’s necessary to have a clear picture of the interrelationships between costs, volume and profit at various levels of business activity. The study of these interrelationships is commonly called break-even analysis.


However, looking at the relationship from the perspective of break-even point may not give a business owner an accurate picture. This is because break-even limits the focus to only the level of activity where neither profit is made nor loss is incurred.


The reality is, the reactions of costs and profits are much more significant at levels of activity outside the break-even point. So, calling the interrelationships “cost volume profit (CVP) analysis” gives a clearer picture and a better understanding.


When should CVP analysis be used to aid business decision making?


CVP analysis is a useful short run decision tool. It’s important for assessing how marginal changes in the levels of activity affect the relationship between costs, output volumes, revenue and profit...

CVP analysis uses the marginal costing principles. What this means is that, CVP is relevant to the extent that existing cost patterns are not likely to change.

Businesses can use CVP analysis to take short run decisions about:
1. Their pricing policies,
2. Their choice of Sales mix,
3. Make or buy,
4. Acceptance or rejection of a special order at a lower than normal price
5. Dropping a product (among a range of products) which is considered to be unprofitable.

But cost behavior is likely to change in the long run in response to changes in methods and technologies. Therefore in the long run, CVP is not a reliable tool for making business decisions when existing cost structures are going to change.
