Good morning my people,

Please I have a question regarding this submitting visa application within the UK vs outside the UK ooo.

My current visa expires 30th August and my new course (PhD) starts 1st week of October. Please see the attachment ( https://www.ukcisa.org.uk/Information--Advice/Visas-and-Immigration/Making-a-Tier-4-General-application-in-UK ) and advise me on how it affects my case.

Also, if i have to travel to Naija to apply- what is the definition of that 'to apply'? Can I start the application from the UK and travel home when appointment is near or EVERYTHING has to be done in Nigeria(including starting the application)

Thank you all as you respond.

Though on a serious note..this is not new, 2yrs ago when i visited Nigeria one immigration officer begged me for money while i was leaving Nigeria i told him that i have no cash left and he wrote his number and name at the back of my boarding pass for me to send him 'something' when i get to the UK. They go open with their begging now grin

@Moana,

Aside the drama with the immigration officer as earlier narrated, I didn't encounter any hitch. The immigration officer at the UK border only cross checked my passport and visa, requested my CAS and I also gave him the extension letter for documentation. The only question he asked me was the name of my previous study ( I think he asked in order to ensure the academic progression is obeyed). In my case, I did pure Biological Sciences during my 1st masters and now going for a management course to compliment my scientific knowledge ( this was exactly what I said during my visa interview).

For interview purpose, it will be nice to mention a fascinating thing about the town your school is located especially things that relate to your study. I added that Sheffield Hallam interests me due to the varieties of plant species, about 5000 species, available at Sheffield Botanical Gardens and that I look forward to rendering my expertise as well as learning. I also said I've checked through the profile of the instructors and noticed they are world renowned individuals and have 21st century knowledge of Research.

Wewww.... that was a lot right! Shebi, that's what they want to hear na!

PS: Pls remember never to panic, be on top of the game.
Hopefully, it would be helpful to someone.Goodluck

The rate at which the Nigerian officers at the airport beg is becoming very disturbing......they were all requesting tips life & direct! I have never experienced such level of 'beggy beggy' before since all my trips to the UK.

Will you believe one officer was so pained that she dey use style curse herself and not me sad This was what happened ooo: She saw like 100 pounds in my bag ( not knowing even me had to beg my brov and aunty before the thing reach grin), she insisted I give her out of it, that some people even give them more than that. As I refused, she said in yoruba " Ti e ba fe pade alaanu, e drop nkan funmi ooo ( If you wan meet helper, drop sth for me ooo). I said haba....wetin i do you na? After all the drama, she said on top of her voice, '' Check that your money is complete ooo, before you will come back saying your money is missing!!! '' And I said thank you. Lol

Chai......Buhari, this recession must stop oooo. Abeg!

Thanks.

So, I can do the paper registration on the 25th day and when its 28th day, I can then submit online or what??

Kindly explain better, cause I don't know what you meant '' I should wait until the 28th day''

Is there anything for me to do before the 28th day, to get it started??

Sorry for the questions anyway...
I am happy to answer any question because I strongly believe the help I got here that boosted my application outcome.

Personally, I would not advise you submit online until the statement of account is 28 days old. This is what I mean by the 28 days thingy. However, @Justwise said you can and I believe he knows better than us, he must have had cases similar to this that turned out successful.

You can go ahead to draft your application while counting the days plus try to write sth convincing on that last page- I wrote that 'my family has always been law abiding and this time won't be different'

Who knows what will sound appealing to the officer.

I hope this makes it clearer. I believe you will come back here and share your success stories! Goodluck buddy!!

Whatamidoinghere:

My question is, for example counting the 28days.

And the time left is so close to resumption and the only option is to apply early, just to be on a safe side. Suppose today is the 25th day, is it possible for me to apply today, and print out the bank statement on the 28th day?? And remember it's Super Priority Visa, which I heard it takes 2-3days

OR

If for example today is the 28th day, is it possible to print out the bank statement and apply for the visa today or must it be after the 28 days??

Justwise, I'm just confused and I need to clear this off my mind... Please, don't be upset with my questions, just need to be on a safe side.

I definitely understand your worries as I felt exactly this way when i was in that fix. I think the ECO would not be considering the condition of the statement alone. If you have every other thing in place and the required amount is intact( I dunno if they check), then he/she won't have any reason to refuse the application.

However, I would advise to at least wait until the 28th day before submitting online. What I did was to carry out a transaction on that 28th day so as to reflect that it was already 28 days, you can then print the statement any other day before physical submission at the centre.

I will advise that we should only do this when there's no other option.

PS: This is totally based on my experience

I can understand that especially when you have no other option.

Glad it turns out fine for you.

How about the passport issue? The embassy accepted it?

How did you managed to make the visa payment?

@Justwise, thanks.

As regards the passport, I had to wait until the new one was issued following @Bourne007 response to my questions then (Thanks very much @Bourne007).

I eventually paid using my UK card which means I had to change naira to pound at black market rate.

Sorry i did not overlook your post.

1. Printing it out on the 23rd will not add up to 28days.

2. You need a passport that has at least 6months validity left on it

3. I don't know about that but if you have dollar account you can use that.

Thanks @Justwise, I can understand. I actually submitted online on that 23rd but printed the statement out on 28th. It was a difficult decision for me but, I thank God I had a positive result.

@justwise @OlowoB and other members, I'm not sure you guys remember my case. I was the one that lost my scholarship cos I cud not save enough for maintenance. Now I do and I will be travelling with my partner.

I will appreciate any advice coming from you all in order to have a successful visa application process. I started counting my 28days from 25th November. I have my CAS already.
My questions
1) Can I print the statement out on the 23rd Dec.( Pls note that my resumption date is 11th Jan 2017)

2) My partner has applied to renew his passport since a month ago at Ikoyi but they kept saying 'no booklet yet' . Can we go ahead and apply using his old passport which will expire in April 2017 while we wait for the new one?

3) Is black market the only way to pay for the visa fees & health surcharge or can you suggest any other means.

Every comment will be appreciated. MrsF, Mrs Daniel, Fizzle, Umarw, everyone!

PS: The guide and support you all give to one another on this forum is incomparable. Una too much!

Yippee grin

Compliment of the season good people.

I want seek the house's opinion on this: My appointment is for 29th Dec. Is it possible I get my visa before 16th Jan, the last day on my extension letter I'm expected to resume at the school (no money to pay priority ooo grin).

- Also, I will like to connect with nairanlanders currently studying at Sheffield Hallam Uni.

Thank you for your comment. Does that mean I can use my normal master card(GTB) to pay? I thought there's a limit of $100? Your response will be appreciated.
Bourne007:
1) Depending on when you are applying. The rule is it shouldn't be more than 31 days before your application but it's advisable to print 3-5 days before.

2) Passport has to be valid for 6 months minimum

3) A debit/credit card is required to pay online. Not sure what you mean by paying via Black Market

spikesC:

Was the maintenance complete the day you deposited it into the account?
You can't just forfeit the scholarship, you can actually defer.

@spikesC, many thanks for the concern. The major prob i have is the inability to save up the stipulated amount. I actually deferred from January, 2016 to September, 2016 (only the admission was deferred though, i got the scholarship this July). So, i think the school may be skeptical about my ability to meet up the requirement by January, 2017. They've not replied my mail though.

Thanks once again.

So sorry. Maybe you should inform your school about this.

Thank you mcstar, I did. They said they can surely defer the admission but might not be able to guarantee the scholarship. However, they will see how they can preserve the scholarship due to my extenuating circumstances.

I am sincerely happy for everyone who has gotten hid/her visa and I pray that all the awaitings* will come here to share their good news soon!

However, I am a bit depressed that I won't be able to travel this September as I wasn't able to save the required 28days maintenance deposit due to this crazy forex palaver. This means the TB test is a waste and my half-tuition fee scholarship will be forfeited. I am not happy! sad cry

(sorry for the nagging, guys).

Bourne007:
1) You both have valid travel passports so you good to apply for your visas. Once in UK, you will be issued a Residence permit card and you can always renew your passports at the naija embassy

2) Using your aunt's statement is a no no. If you have read previous comments about maintenance requirements, it clearly states that statements used must be in the main applicant's name or parents/legal guardian (with proof)

Cheers

I really appreciate your response. Thanks

Hello House,
Please help me answer the ffg questions;

1) I will be travelling to the UK in Sept with my partner for study purpose( I am the main applicant). My passport expires Dec 2016 while that of my partner won't expire until April, 2017. My question is- Do we have to renew his own alongside mine before visa will be issued?

2) A friend told me we may not have to submit a statement for my maintenance if my Aunt who has been living in the UK for more than 10 yrs could write a letter indicating she would cater for my maintenance. Pls, is this possible? How else can one go about this?
N.B: I had a 50% tuition fee scholarship. BTW we would like to connect with guys going to/ living in Sheffield.

Thanks.

Thanks for replying..and 21 days, that's the standard. i get why people say tp VI is slower than Ikeja, it took 8 days after your visa was issued while Ikeja applicants get to pick up a day after. guess that explains the 18k.

Did you wait for the teleperformance site to get updated or you just went there to pick up?

To be honest, I ran out of patience on the 19th June and I wanted to go to VI to find out if not for @Justwise that calm my nerves! grin

hi when did u apply when did u get your passport back? Just trying to see if paying 18k at Ikeja is worth it seeing as it takes 5 working days.

I applied June 3rd, I got the passport back on 22nd June. The passports had been stamped since 12th June ( I waited 20 long days, anxiety almost consumed me angry ). If Ikeja is faster, it might worth paying the 18k.

Goodluck!

Hello House,

I went to pick up my visa n my baby's today and guess what? We were granted visa! Thanks to evry1 that dropped comments on this thread. They were all helpful, God bless you all!

what I (believe) did to have a successful application?

I read through all the posts on this thread*- from 2011-till date; highlighted why some visas were granted and why some were not. Then I noted comments from all the Nairalanders esp. Justwise, Omo tier 1, Vicjustice etc. Then, I applied, even though I still made some mistakes but I guess they were overlooked by ECO( I learnt that word frm this forum , I still dont know the full meaning but I know it is synonymous to "Grant or refuse that Visa"wink.

My advise to guys that are about to ask questions on UK visa applications esp. visit visa; Pls read through the previous comments on this thread, most (if not all) of the questions have been answered IN DETAILS.

I hope this makes sense to the house. Goodluck to those that are about to submit applications and those awaiting response!

Hello Guys, I must say kudos to everyone in the forum for all the good jobs.

I applied for a short visit visa to the UK and got a response from Sheffield on the 12th June that a decision have been made, and I should wait 3-5 days for collection. Today is the 4th day(working days), and nothing has been updated on the Teleperformance website( I submitted at VI). Someone suggested I go there by noon tomorrow.

Please can sm1 save my life b4 anxiety go kill me ooo!
Thanks.
