[quote author=touch_me_hard]The experts agree: anyone can take a course in C++, but it’s not going to land you the job. The most in-demand jobs for the new year might be rooted in the booming computer industry, but it’s not only technical and programming chops that prospective hires should be showcasing. “The most sought-after skill-sets for recruiters are becoming less and less about proficiency in specific processes and coding languages,” says Rich Milgram, CEO of career network Beyond, “And more about how you think systems through and work within the context of the team. Learning a technology is the easy part. Having the mindset to apply it, having the mindset and logic to process it, being thorough and detail-oriented while doing so, these are the critical skills.” Here, the 10 most critical job skills to parlay in your job search for 2013: No. 1 Critical Thinking (found in 9 out of the 10 most in-demand jobs) Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. AjanleKoko: Studying engineering will not automatically make you creative. Also, you can be creative without ever studying engineering.''Automatically'' Of course not! Creativity is all about a matter of INTEREST! I am a DJ (though on break). U will be surprised with what I do, but nobody taught me. Interest brings about creativity. Its not all about studying a course, or doing somethings cos people do them, but matter of INTEREST! Thats what we should always preach to our kids.....ur Dad should have allowed you do what would have made you happier! |
AjanleKoko: Fully agree. Those disciplines do very little beyond putting you in a box, and giving you an overbloated sense of self-worth.I feel you pains though, but THAT doesn't mean that it kills creativity from childhood. Does it mean that Physics is not suffering from the same syndrome? Besides, Engineering is termed as a synonym for creativity! Who is Ravi? |

I knew somepeople are gonna make funny comments about the OP. Yeah, it COULD be cracking up joke when Naija factors are being put into consideration. But. the issue of long-leg, who-know-who, séx-for-job and d likes are can actually get u the job. However, these acts of getting jobs have been so overrated over the years. The op has just spelt out what can retain you in the company. Many half baked are being laid off today cos they have none of those characteristics. Long leg or no long leg, if u wanna get that job at any cost, and u wanna retain it, get acquainted with those 10 points and make them your life-style! |
