This is not strange to me, i feel very sorry for women with such husbands. My sister only sees her passport at immigration whenever they are going on holiday and the husband collects all inc hers and the kids once they have passed immg. She has no idea where they are kept in the house. Hmmmmmmmmmm There are so many reasons to thank God if one has been blessed with a real man as a husband, this is one of such reasons. Let her go for the interview and explain herself, im sure they understand such and unlike in our culture they dont believe her husband has to rule her life. |
Loads of thanks to you all, you've been quite helpful and i have been able to get useful info which has actually helped me in my plans. Thanks again and again. Bless you all. |
Bossman:Will do, thanks a mill. jay bee:It |
OgidiBoy:Thanks, that actually scared me. I am no longer upset that my ticket was not issued due to issue with my card, i've had to cancel the booking to sort things with my bank. Now i am thinking of somewhere else. Will you recommend any please? Save enough and loads of fun for kids. Thanks a mill. |
I hope this is not the crash that happened years ago or is there another Mark Aku? |
When our country is rid of lies here and there going for visa interview will be like going for a chat with a friend. As you have been rightly advised just be yourself and make your intention clear. Give enough evidence that you wish to return home that is the ultimate. All the best. |
Thanks all, i appreciate all your contributions. Want to make the holiday exciting for them at the same time mind the fact that i am alone with 2 little kids in a country like US. I am checking out all the links provided and taking all of the contributions on board. Thanks. |
thanks a mill bossman i dnt knw anyone there just booked that because i got a reasonable tkt. Wl try to google n see anyway. Thanks. |
I am taking a 2 weeks holiday in US with my 2 kids in August. I have booked our flight to Houston because the ticket is a bit reasonable. I am wondering if people who live there can advise of places that would be of interest to my 7 yr old boys and if there are other states not too far that we could also visit that wont cost us much to fly to and back to our base for our return. |
Desperate Nigerian man sneaks into Delta Airline plane’s tyre compartment with the aim to be smuggled into the US, but arrives Atlanta as mangled dead body By CHIOMA IGBOKWE Saturday, April 17, 2010 The family of a Nigerian, who wanted to play James Bond and perhaps, shock the world with his plan, is currently gnashing its teeth, as the venture has ended in tragedy. Saturday Sun gathered that a young Nigerian, Mr. Emeka Okechukwu Okeke, recently wanted to do the impossible by smuggling himself into the United States, but ended up arriving not only in body bag but also as mangled body. Impeachable sources at the Murtala Muhammed International, Lagos, revealed that Okeke had beaten all security at the airport, traced his way to the tarmac and sneaked into the tyre compartment of a Delta Airline’s plane scheduled to depart for Atlanta, United States. It was gathered that the plane had departed Lagos, without Okeke being detected, and safely arrived Atlanta. Ground staff of the airline, in the United States, were said to have discovered pieces of flesh and blood smear on one of the tyres of the plane and raised an alarm. A check on the plane revealed the mangled body of Okeke in one of the tyre compartments of the aircraft. The check also revealed a bag and a mobile phone on what remained of the body of the young man. Saturday Sun gathered that shocked officials of Delta Airlines, in the US, had put on the mobile phone and scrolled through the numbers. To find out the identity of the man, they were said to have called the last number dialed and made inquiries. The man, who received the call, was said to have revealed that the owner of the phone had travelled to the United States. Delta Airlines officials in the United States had transferred the case to Nigeria, where it was discovered that Okeke, who is married, had confided in some of his friends and relatives that he was travelling to the United States on the night he sneaked into the tyre compartment of the aircraft. His family has been contacted and its members have identified the corpse of Okeke. According to our source, Okeke is from Anambra and had tried unsuccessfully for years to get a visa to America. Owing to desperation, he decided to embark on the risky venture, which eventually claimed his life. Although, he told his family that he was travelling to US, he never revealed that he was going to sneak into the tyre compartment of the aircraft. According to our source, Okeke colluded with airport officials to gain access to the tarmac, before finding his way to the plane in the dark. He was said to have wrapped himself in a blanket, not knowing that the aircraft tyres would get to where he was and kill him. Meanwhile, Delta Airline staffers, who guarded the plane at the airport on the day the incident happened, have been arrested by the police, to explain how Okeke sneaked into the tyre compartment of the plane. Saturday Sun gathered that Delta Airline has a security policy, whereby its plane at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, is guarded from the time it arrives Nigeria, in the afternoon, till when it departs with passengers in the night. With such security arrangement, the airline is, therefore, shocked that somebody could have access to the plane undetected and embarked on a suicide mission, which has caused the airline a scandal. The police at the airport command are currently battling to find out how security was breached at the airport that day. An airport official, who pleaded for anonymity, told Saturday Sun, that many people had been smuggled out of the country by sneaking into aircraft. The source said: “That route is for people who have guts and all efforts to leave Nigeria have failed. The man has bad luck; it is not his destiny to leave Nigeria. Maybe he did not follow the instructions given to him on how to survive under there. This is not the first time people are sneaking out of Nigeria through that means. Sometime last year a woman travelled through that means and arrived safely. “If this man arrived safely, we would not be talking about this. He was careless with his life. Now innocent staff of the airline are going to suffer for his mistake. Those who guarded the plane that night were arrested.” The racket at the airport The question being asked by people is, how possible is it that somebody would gain access to the tarmac undetected, considering the tight security in the airport? Our source explained that such illegal movement is being coordinated by a syndicate at the airport, which also works with airlines’ workers. It was gathered that people who need such services pay as much as N800,000. They tutored on how to survive in the aircraft compartment. For one, it was learnt that they are given blankets and winter clothes with which they would keep warn while the plane is in flight across the Atlantic. In the country of destination, the illegal immigrants are received by agents in the syndicate, who smuggle them into the country. Our source blamed the level of corruption at the airport on poor working condition, alleging that some of staff are paid N30, 000 monthly. “In this present day, how can one survive with such an amount of money? We have to survive; that is why there can never be a cure for the level of corruption at the airport. There is nothing like absolute security; the people at the helm of affairs smuggle things into the plane also, despite their fat allowance,” an airport worker said. When contacted, officials of Delta airlines refused to comment. However, a policeman at the airport command confirmed the incident and said investigation was going on. Sorry i dont have the link, got it in an email. |
otawa:I went to Dubai with my husband and kids, that was a family holiday but we do take personal holidays. We have no prob with it absolutely ![]() |
I have a colleague who is so stressed and ‘sick’ and need to take some time off to rest. She is not willing to take time off because according to her she won’t even be able to take the rest she need at some as the kids won’t let her be plus she still has to do the usual house chores. I then advised her to take an holiday somewhere like Northern Ireland and relax for like 3 nights, she laughed it off saying I should not even think of it as her husband will never allow such. I do take holidays alone, my husband takes holiday alone and then we also do take holiday together with the kids so it was kind of funny to me that a man will not allow such. She is a very hard working and responsible lady and me think she deserves some private time to relax her head. Is it really not proper please? |
I think of it once in a while but for my experience while at home i wont ever even try it if i am not there 24/7 to monitor any biz myself. While i was home i tried a buz with my trusted blood sister and i bit my fingers. Not giving up i tried another with a trusted cousin, same story and then finally with a trusted friend and again same story. I was still in Nigeria just that i was in full time employment and had to partnet because i had no time imagine what it would be if i was to be this far away. What i do now is i look out for fixed term offers from banks and i quickly put my money in, once it matures i put it back in savings and look for another juicy offer. My mind is at peace and my capital is intact even though the return is not always that much. I just made about 1,560 on 20k invested in a 20 months fixed term. It isnt much but i am cool with it, i cant afford to waste the money im making inside this kinda weather. Think very well b4 venturing into a buz you are not on ground to monitor. Good luck. |
This is all about money believe me, news will get to where it should about this and the 'fresident' will 'approve' some bags to be circulated and then the noise dies down. I know them, watch out. |
Not sure what to think with this issue, i trust my husby but i am also well prepared for any kinda news never say never. |
If i was to answer this b4 i had kids i would say yes to my mum not my mother inlaw but now i will answer yes to both. |
I dont get it. So she goes out with you all the time so as to prevent you from having any contact whatsoever with the opposite sex? Is that supposed to be mean insecurity or lack of any trust whatsoever? All the best as you close your eyes to anything in skirt o |
MRbrownJAY:seconded in the kind of situation described above |
I understand the kind of joy the reconciliation would have brought you guys BUT you owe much respect, love and loyalty to your grandparents. If those people gave you out as kids to other relatives to use as slaves and today you are of no use to yourself he might not consider coming back. (Jesus Christ! How can one neglect ones children when they need them most only to come back when someone else has ‘’cooked’’ them deliciously?) Apologise to your grannies that you didn’t inform them earlier, your dad should actually have gone to them first before reconciling with you guys. Look for a way of reconciling them all and ask for their forgiveness. Things like these makes me sick. |
Anyone has any idea about this please? Will appreciate any useful info. Thanks. |
I read it all, i am short of words. |
Its actually terrible here as well, we have all while Ireland now. I am lucky though as trains and trams that services my area works so i am able to commute to work fine just more expensive because i have a prepaid bus ticket but now has to buy train/tram ticket for same period as buses are off the road in my area. |
Recent researches have shown that ct scans rely on dangerous radiation which is a known carcinogen, even in the relatively small amounts used with most CT's. There is also fear that there are a number of uncertainties involved in predicting cancer with the use of these scanners. This makes me wonder just how safe/unsafe this proposed full body scanners are especially for frequent flyers. |
dablessed have you been there? Please do you mind telling me about it? Im looking at taking holiday in February, my last major holiday in Dubai was da bomb, looking for something similar. Thanks. |
When i took my 4+ yrs old kids to Nigeria 2 years ago i was going to get vaccines for them, i actually got the drugs but when i read the side effects i threw them away. When we got to Lagos i took them to Hospital for same and the doc told me to let them be and just watch out for any sign of ailment. Funny enough i fell sick the next day but these guys who were visiting Nigeria for the first time did not for once fall sick. We caught them once drinking gari with someone who was using 'pure water' i was scared to death but nothing happended. A day before we left we took them for blood test as advised by the dr just in case there is any sign of whatever but the test came clean and none of them has fallen sick until now. I know it cant be same for all kids but then take them to a good hospital for advise as soon as you get home and above all pray, it works fine, pls dont take those prescription if you dont feel like. |

It seems that an article was written to Sister 2 Sister magazine by a Caucasian woman who requested a response from black men. I'm so glad she got what she asked for (and more) !!! Dear Jamie, I'm sorry but I would like to challenge some of your Black male readers. I am a White female who is engaged to a Black male-good-looking, educated and loving. I just don't understand a lot of Black female's attitudes about our relationship. My man decided he wanted me because the pickings amongst Black women were slim to none. As he said they were either too fat, too loud, too mean, too argumentative, too needy, too materialistic or carrying too much excess baggage. Before I became engaged, whenever I went out I was constantly approached by Black men, willing to wine and dine me and give me the world. If Black women are so up in arms about us being with their men, why don't they look at themselves and make some changes.I am tired of the dirty looks I get and snide remarks when we're out in public. I would like to hear from some Black men about why we are so appealing and coveted by them. Bryant Gumbel just left his wife of 26 years for one of us, Charles Barkley, Scottie Pippen, the model Tyson Beckford, Montell Williams, Quincy Jones, James Earl Jones, Harry Belafonte, Sydney Poitier, Kofi Anan, Cuba Gooding Jr., Don Cornelius, Berry Gordy, Billy Blanks, Larry Fishburne, Wesley Snipes, I could go on and on. But, right now, I'm a little angry and that is why I wrote this so hurriedly. Don't be mad with us White women because so many of your men want us. Get your acts together and learn from us and we may lead you to treat your men better. If I'm wrong, Black men, let me know. Disgusted White Girl, Somewhere in VA RESPONSE Dear Jamie: I would like to respond to the letter written by A Disgusted White Girl. Let me start by saying that I am a 28-year old black man. I graduated from one of the most prestigious universities in Atlanta, Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Management. I have a good job at a major corporation and have recently purchased a house. So, I consider myself to be among the ranks of successful black men. I will not use my precious time to slander white people. I just want to set the records straight of why black men date white women. Back in the day, one of the biggest reasons why black men dated white women was because they were considered easy. The black girls in my neighborhood were raised in the church. They were very strict about when they lost their virginity and who they lost it to. Because of our impatience to wait, brothers would look for someone who would give it up easy without too much hassle. So, they turned to the white girls. Nowadays, in my opinion, a lot of brothers date white women because they are docile and easy to control. A lot of black men, because of insecurities, fears, and overall weaknesses, have become intimidated by the strength of our black women. We are afraid that our woman will be more successful than us, make more money than us, drive nicer cars and own bigger houses. Because of this fear, many black men look for a more docile woman. Someone we can control. I have talked to numerous black men and they continuously comment on how easy it is to control and walk over their white women. I just want to set the records straight. I want A Disgusted White Girl to know that not all successful black men date white women. Brothers like Ahmad Rashad, Denzel Washington, Michael Jordan, Morris Chestnut, Will Smith, Blair Underwood, Kenneth 'Babyface' Edmonds, Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Rock and Barack Obama all married strong black women And, to flip the script, there are numerous white men, in and out of the spot light, who openly or secretly desire black women over white women. Ted Danson, Robert DeNiro, and David Bowie to name a few. I just don't want a disgusted white girl to be misinformed. Stop thinking that because you are white that you are some type of goddess. Remember, when black Egyptian Queens like Hatsepshut and Nitorcris were ruling Dynasties and armies of men in Egypt, you were over in the caves of Europe eating raw meat and beating each other over the head with clubs. Read your history! It was the black woman that taught you how to cook and season your food. It was the black woman that taught you how to raise your children. It was black women who were breast feeding and raising your babies during slavery. It is the black woman that had to endure watching their fathers, husbands, and children beaten, killed, and thrown in jail. Black women were born with two strikes against them: being black and being a woman. And, through all this, They still Rise! It is because of the black women's strength, elegance, power, love and beauty that I could never date anyone except my black Queen. It is not just the outer beauty that captivates and draws me to them. It is not the fact that they come in all shapes, sizes, colors and shades that I love them. Their inner beauty is what I find most appealing about black women. Their strong spirit, loving and nurturing souls, their integrity, their ability to overcome great obstacles, their willingness to stand for what they believe in, and their determination to succeed and reach their highest potential while enduring great pain and suffering is why I have fallen in love with black women. I honestly believe that your anger is geared more towards jealousy and envy more so than snotty looks. If this were not so, then why do you continuously go to tanning salons to darken your skin? If you are so proud to be white, then why don't you just be happy with your pale skin? Why do you continue to inject your lips, hips, and breasts with unnatural and dangerous substances so you can look fuller and more voluptuous? I think that your anger is really a result of you wanting to have what the black woman has. BOTTOM LINE: If I were looking for a docile woman, someone I can walk over and control, I would give you a call. But, unfortunately, I am looking for a Virtuous Woman. Someone that can be good wife and mother to my children. Someone who can be my best friend and understands my struggles. I am looking for a soul mate. I am looking for a sister and; unfortunately, you do not and CANNOT fit the bill. No offence taken! none given!! Signed, Black Royalty |
Fhemmmy:In Nigeria? |
Ndeewonu:Honestly i dont know what to say about that. Its sickening and i have had no married woman bold enough to own up to it so i can ask why. |
Fhemmmy:I attend the same church and I can assure you this sickening instance has nothing to do with the pastor. He preaches the word as it should be and it is up to listeners to be doers. How she got the courage to even tell me about it is what I still struggle to understand. The worst is the boyfriend is supposed to be a ‘bro’ too. Either she aborted the preg before or during sex my only worry is if she died trying to do that or if she had used something and she died during the sex my friend would by now have to be a regular visitor to prison to see her husband, its all confusing may be I could talk some sense to him or just overlook it is what im not quite sure of. |
Now this is a hard one for me. I have a friend who has been my friend for so long, her husband is also a very close friend, we are like family members. There is this lady who happens to be my church member and told me a shocking story recently. My friend's husband T had secretely asked this lady out according to her but she refused because of the respect she has for the wife but after a while she gave in to him. She told me how T disturbs her with texts and calls every day until she gave in. She said they both travelled out of town (d date she gave corresponds to when my T claim to have gone for seminar from work). She said that was the first time they were spending time together and they had sex for the night. Now they guy has only called her once after then and unlike before did not send a single text nor called after that once. I could not believe what this lady told me. . . . . she said she knew T would think that he used her but in the real sense she was the one who used him and that if i care i can let him know so he doesnt start thinking he has used her and dumped her. She said she was impregnated by her boyfriend (she's single) who wants her to have the baby but she is not ready and needed to abort it and while thinking of how to get rid of it, it occured to her that being only 4 weeks 'hot' sex can bring it down and so she decided to use him for it and he came in handy. According to her the pregnancy came down the next day. I hear new things everyday and this is one of them, its a crazy world we live in. My problem is should i or not tell him? The only reason i ever considered telling him is to warn him to desist from such because we all respect him and his wife is nice to a fault and should the lady have died while trying to abort with sex he would have been sent to jail while the poor wife will be left in shame for so long. He is a close friend as well as his wife, can i talk to him about it or just let it go and pretend i heard nothing? |
