Blackteeth: It's better i be a poor man in the south than be a rich man in the north. My map of Nigeria starts from the southern shores of Rivers, lagos, bayelsa and delta states and ends at the northern borders of kwara, kogi, FCT and benue states. Anywhere beyond is a game reserve for wild life. My friend Adebowale left south for north in mid 90s, he was into oil business and within a short time he got very rich financially and became our 'oga' he got married fast and had 2 kids. In 2000 he came down south for one of our friend's wedding, he went back after the wedding and alas! that was the last time we saw him he was killed in one of the usual unrests. We were not as rich as Debo but today we still have our lives and we have moved far from where we were then. so yes what are people doing in the north risking their lives? If a little kid in the one village in Abeokuta should tear a page of the quran several lives must be lost in the north. Though the country is not for them alone but i wont risk fighting my life fighting for one Nigeria. Ok if people decide to put their lives at risk by staying up north, that's ok i dont have much problem with them but students should not be posted there to post, they dont want to go there so simple dont post them there. I wonder what parents are doing folding their arms and allowing their kids go serve in the north and why are students still accepting to despite the no of lives that has been lost there c'mon people lets rise up and demand corpers serve in their state of origin or let them scrap the scheme |

Sagamite: My advice:
Get to a police or army barracks and stay their.
If you cannot, drop your pride, get some basic utilities and go and camp in a bush. Take a machete or other weapon with you. When things settle, come out.
You are lucky it is only you you have to mainly worry about. No wife and kids to protect. really? and that will save one person from attack from say 4 or 5 idiots? |

kodewrita: Anywhere outside the south and its off. that kid will simply go for masters and keep trying until he gets posted somewhere sensible. In the meantime he'll be making money from investments I will have made on his behalf. No K state or B state or nothern posting for my kids.
God willing we will find a way to scrap this program. same here and when are people going to rise up and challenge this scheme considering the no of lives that has been lost to it? |

Abali1: Let the scheme be scrapped or Corp members posted to their home states to serve. How many more corp members have to die before the govt does something. I support 100% why are non Northern still allowing their children to serve in the north for crying out loud? Cant people protest to either scrap the scheme or let them serve in their own states or of their choice? |
Politics › Re: To All Of You In Suport Of Gej, Buhari Or Any Candidate. by ayomifull(f): 10:35pm On Apr 19, 2011 |
However peaceful the north becomes now or in the future i will never allow my child to serve anywhere in the north as a matter of fact my kids either serve in a yoruba speaking state or not at all. I have tried hard enough to get news of those innocent kids killed in Jos out of my memory but still cant, i can never make such sacrifice.
Can we not protest to change this scheme? If it has to be done it has to be in one's state of origin or of choice? I will be willing to join that protest i cant understand why at least a family has to gnash their teeth every year all in the name of serving a father's land. |

ifyalways: Using a gun to kill a mosquito.
If I were around, this order might make me decide to stay indoors. not might here it actually will make me to stay indoors. It is very scary to allow such in a country like ours where killing is not a big deal. What about missed targets and accidental discharge? Imagine the pandemonium if people just hear a gun shot even from afar |

Jarus: Jingles sponsored by this thread is now on Wazobia FM Lagos, Wazobia FM PH and Cool FM Lagos.
As for Splash FM, Ibadan, I have paid them 120,000 for 6 slots, 2 per day for three days. They said in compliant with the NBC directive, they will not be able to air any political jingle, ours inclusive, Friday and Saturday, and to my surprise on Sunday too. I said no wahala, tehy said it will start on Monday. So expect our jingle on air on Splash FM Ibadan from Monday next week.
Our Yoruba version is also ready, it was played for me and very nice, but I rejected it because they did not describe CPC logo in Yoruba in it. I said, that in fact, was the reason we are doing this advert and we cannot afford not to have our logo described in Yoruba in an ad we will playing in a state like Osun & Oyo where majority of the voters are market women that may not identify 'C', 'P', 'C. I told them since most of these women know umbrella and broom, we need to imprint our logo into their mind too. I'm sure they know Buhari and most can even identify his face, but it's logo that will be on ballot paper. I was a little uneasy with them, and said despite the fact that the ad is very good, the absence of logo decription was inexcusable, so I ordered them to edit it for us describing the logo 'asia t'oni gege laarin'(flag with a pen across).
I have also paid 84,000 for OSBC to air the jingle for us, 2 per day for 4 days. You are the best! God bless your soul. |

Aside Ribadu, Shekarau, Buhari, GEJ and Dele Momodu are there other candidates contesting for presidential post? If there are are they really serious about it or just want the title 'ex presidential candidate'? Someone told me govt gives a certain huge amount of money to all candidates to help with their campaign, if this is right are there some who are contesting just to get the said money and careless about the election? |

The fact that he has a mind of his own and wont be pushed around The fact that he has no godfather who will dictate to him The fact that he is not collecting money from individual who will come around to command him and he will have to do their wish. If he collects money from Mikano Generator MD for example how on earth will he assure there is constant electricity? I just think that of all the candidates he stands out having read about few of them. Something tells me he is the best of them all. |

I have never been interested in any of the presidential aspirants, to me they are all birds of the same feather. I can never be bothered because i believe the country will remain the same or get worst irrespective of who wins. I care less i am not in anyway interested in politics anyway and then . . . . . . . . . .
I read the article on casting the demon out of Bakare and for once i saw hope, wao! this man has got a mind of his own, a man who can not be pushed around, a man who would stand by his own words. This is definitely the man i want to see handle the affairs of my country. This is not about politics or parties this is about integrity and i can see it in this man. I am yoruba, he is Hausa, i am a christian, he is a muslim but anyone with his/her right senses should know that this is about our future and not about race, religion, whatever.
I have not stopped making calls to my families, friends, ex ccolleagues church members back home and to my suprise i have been able to cconvincesome ppl who like me cant be bothered about voting to cast their votes for this man.
I will keep making calls until the d day. If they rig it to favour any weakling well i would confidently say i tried my best. I am loving the feeling of finding my lost hope |

these were actions taken by the PEOPLE in japan. the PEOPLE in japan handled it well. the same way the PEOPLE in nigeria keep blowing each other up no. The nigerian psyche caused nigeria's poverty over time. Japan was once an impoverished 3rd world country. It is not about the govt all the time it is the people, it is not about the country but the people try visiting a Nigerian embassy even in the most developed country and see how 'orderly' we are. |

chatterly: The Article below was in Thisday in June 2006 May lack of information not kill us,meanwhile i will look to confirm te purchase of the other jets by obj
The Presidential Air Fleet yesterday in Abuja took delivery of a new Jet, a Boeing 737-800 business jet for the use of President Olusegun Oba-sanjo.
The new comfort plane designed to achieve maximum comfort for the President who can effectively functions as if he is in his Presidential mansion fully equipped with office and accommodation facilities cost the nation $72 million (N9.3 billion). According to information available on Boeing web site, the annual fixed costs will be $7.9 million (N1.04 billion).
The plane, according to the manufacturers is deigned to take care of the need of "global leaders (who) need to fly farther in comfort, be productive enroute and reach business destinations relaxed and refreshed."
It also has three times the interior space of the competition at a comparable price and a range of more than 6,000 nautical miles, setting new standards in space, comfort, utility and support." The plane, THISDAY gathered can fly 14 hours non-stop meaning that President Obasanjo can travel from Abuja to Washington DC in the United States without any stop over. The plane which has ability to convey about 30 passengers has provision for Presidential office, executive conference area and first class ensuite bedroom.
"The plane ensures that you can maintain personal productivity even when flying 14 hours non-stop. Comfort such as a spacious executive suite with Queen size bed that allow you to get a goodnight's sleep. A dinning area is perfect for conferences or gracious meals, private offices are ideal for serious work or quiet reflection. With all the amenities of home and office, you can meet, eat, sleep and dine in comfort and are sure to arrive at your destination refreshed and ready for the business day," the manufacturer stated.
Boeing information service stated that the BBJ is not hampered by the number of passengers in its ultra-long range performance. Designed to meet modern aviation noise level standards, the Boeing Business Jets has a sound level during take off and approach which has a low impact on nearby communities. There are only about 86 of the Boeing 737-800 business jets flying and the manufacturer make provisions that passengers in the plane get 100 per cent fresh air circulated every 3.75 minutes throughout the BBJ cabin.
Two control zones make it easy for passengers and crew to select perfect temperatures. An optional humidity control system and a fully automatic pressurisation system add to the level of passenger comfort. The low interior noise levels, can work quietly through the flight or get you a good night's sleep,? it stated. Just wondering is this applicable to any of our leaders? |
