TravelRe: Why Does Everybody In Nigeria Want To Travel Out? by ayomifull(f): 12:20pm On Feb 16, 2011
Travelling out of one's country is not peculiar to Nigerians only, everyone want better lives and will be willing to get it whenever they feel they can. I live in Ireland and with the current economic crash in Ireland Irish citizens emmigrate in their hundreds every month.

pls i want to travel for a medical conference in rome in april 2011. what type of visa should i apply for. business or tourist. what is the minimium amount oof money that should be in my bank account.
It doesnt sound to me like you are going for a medical conference. Let me just borrow you my 2cent if you are thinking of going to that country to 'hustle' forget it. It is sickening to think that some Nigerians will leave Nigeria to go to a place like Rome/Italy. I just returned from Italy/Rome on Saturday and i still cant get over what those places look like. Be warned one is better off in a Nigerian village farming.
TravelRe: Nigerians In Ireland, how are you Coping With The Recession And The Eu Bailout? by ayomifull(f): 8:33pm On Jan 09, 2011
I am a Nigerian living in Ireland and i must say the ship is sinking really deep and the speed at which it is is not surprising considering how the country rewards people for being utterly useless, lazy and unproductive.
4 years ago wen i was to start work i visited citizen infor center just to know my rights and get any advise that may be useful to me and to my amazement the person i consulted with asked me how i tot i was goin to cope with a full time job on my own with 2 kids as i was goin to be completely on my own, pay house rent, childminding, feeding, medical etc but for my courage and determination i probably would hv gone back home and keep my certs under my pillow. Even friends asked me same questions and some saw me as an  but i must say its 4 years now and i have never regretted it for once if anything i am much better in all aspect than most of dem. 'The shoes im wearing i bought them with MY OWN money' and no one at the 'gate' ask me why i travelled to wherever wen coming back to the country from holidays, ive never been refused visa to any country and i live quite comfortably with my kids.

I understand they have their reasons for their generous social welfare system but its been terribly abused by both indegenes and lots of us previledged to live in the country from our various countries. I still dont understand why they didnt simply give us (foreigners) work permit instead of residence permit that has made loads of us completely useless and unfocused. Its so sad and its a shame that people left their countries far far away only to come and depend on govt all their lives.

Well, about coping i feel sorry for some hard working guys who are facing serious difficulties at this very time its quite disheartening. Ppl are loosing their jobs on daily basis and those of us lucky enough to still have our jobs wake up daily wondering  if the jobs are still there. People are having their mortgages reppossed and having to join the ever increasing dole queue, something you dont ever wish for.

Those who hv their ways are packing their bags now, more than half of my dr friends already 'landed' in Canada and loads are in the process and this is not just applicable to foreigners even the citizens. Four of my colleagues who are Irish recently left for Canada some are on it. To be realistic the economic situation in Ireland now is better left for imagination and from all indications there is no recovery in sight for now but well who knows just maybe but with the banking crisis and death of construction industry (the cause of the whole mess) the possibility of the end of this situation is not in sight.

CareerRe: Mba Abroad Or Stick With Current Banking Job? by ayomifull(f): 7:50pm On Aug 25, 2010
with this ''FULLY FUNDED SCHOLARSHIP THAT COVERS BOTH TUITION AND LIVING COSTS!'' i see no reason why she should not jump at that. The industry infact the whole economy may look hopeless as it is now but it willl pay her better in future. Life itself is a risk, like what happens if the bank she works with now run out of business and she has nothing special to compete elsewhere? He who is afraid of risk may not move as far as he actually can.

My friend's brother took the risk sometimes ago even paid his tuition himself and all that he got a better job shortly before he completed the course he was interviewed over the phone from USA and got a fantastic post in the bank's Nigerian branch.

All the best.

^^^^actually, that wasnt a joke. depending on how the Dollar fluctuate would mean the difference between more or less money to spend. i dont know where you live but the € has lost a big chunk lately and European spenders will feel the difference.
for the last 1yr+, going to the US to shop with Euros felt like having a year long sale but now that the € is back to normal, the bonanza is over.
Thanks i understand but i am not going purposely to shop but to see what those places look like just an opportunity to buy a few things. I wasnt satisfied with seeing only Texas and i dont really have flexible time as i have to take time off work in advance so cant really go just anytime.
Thanks a mill.

Travelista:
Someone already beat me to it: Black Friday is the best! I've seen people push the elderly to get a $3 coffee maker, so be careful. And try and avoid Wal-Mart: they have terrible business practices but some of their clientele leaves somethings to be desired, especially when there are deep bargains up for grabs (and Wal-Mart has those in spades). Also, you just missed Tax-Free Weekend in Texas; it's a great time to buy clothes, electronics and certain types of furniture. Good luck next time and I'm glad you enjoyed Texas!
poor me! why didnt you tell me while i was there grin

We enjoyed it so much we didnt want to leave. The kind of residential buildings there, with den, children play area, large living rooms and all that. My kids didnt want to come back unfurtunately they dont have 'paper' lol
Nice place we will sure be there again in the nearest future.

CareerThree Quarters Of Employers 'require 2:1 Degree' by ayomifull(op): 7:17pm On Jul 06, 2010
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/education/10506798.stm

This is happening in UK now i wonder what is happening in Nigeria in this regard. Any hope for 'people like us'?

According to one of the respondents

James, Welwyn Garden City, England

It's bad for graduates in the UK but it's even worse for international students. It is next to impossible to find a job after spending close to £50,000 on a degree - there's always a problem with getting a job with a post study work visa. I am ashamed to say that I was fooled into coming to England to progress in life and like many other educated people I am fleeing this country for better opportunities.

I wonder what effect this will have on foreigners especially when, according to that report, about two thirds of students achieve either a first class degree or a 2:1 and an average of 69 people are now chasing each graduate job.

thanks, 500,000naira that is just mine and my husband has 6000pounds in his uk
account but i have not been out of Nigeria before but he has a post study
visa for uk. so advise if u can.
Why not apply for UK visa then? Im pretty sure 500k is not enough to convince them and if you make the mistake of using your husband's uk account its going to be a no no because they will conclude you are going to join your husband thr Ireland. All the best.

FamilyRe: I feel A bit depressed by ayomifull(f): 8:03pm On Jun 11, 2010
There is nothing i am going to say that has not been said. You are a very strong lady and has achieved a lot, keep being strong and you shall smile at the end of it all

One thing i will add though is this

You said you are not married yet? ? ? ? ? ? Please please and please if there is a reason, just one reason, why you think the marriage is going to be hell for you please opt out. It is better to opt out a minute to giving your vows than a minute after giving it.
I know what i am talking about and will say the same thing to anyone any day. If you have any reason to doubt your happiness with someone please dont be with them.
Even when you are in love and all that there are up and downs there no matter how yummy it is how much more when the home is hell?
Think about it and search your mind very well before getting in fully. We dont want to start preaching to you in nearest future to stay married because of the kids.

God's peace be with you.

While i wont really be happy about it i will definitely go that route or what do they expect to tell the child when he or she grows up and start asking questions? Abortion is frowned at but in sickening situations as this it is to me the best option.

A 2 years olf kid and even a 6 years old bathing self is nonsense.
God bless you.
I am very angry with the lady who is not ready for her responsibility and feel sorry for the innocent kids brought to the world by such parents. I only allow my 6 yr old to do that once a week and that's on saturdays.
