Politics / Re: Jonathan Demands N2trn Election Funds Refund, Audit by ayox2003: 7:10am On Apr 19, 2015
2trn? I'm not surprised.

It was said that during the six postponed weeks to the elections, GEJ was doling out $50m every single day. That's 10bn every single day!

Had he won the elections, he wouldn't have called for an audit. Thank goodness he lost!

Travel / Re: Xenophobia: View Of A Nigerian Living In SA by ayox2003: 8:12am On Apr 16, 2015
Thank you OP.

There's a psychological term called Availability Bias.

Availability Bias: Availability Bias is when a minor, rare, uncommon occurrence is publicized numerous times to make people believe it happens frequently. An example is how lottery companies advertise those who win the ultimate prize money, making people believe that they could be one of the winners. The 'advert' makes people play lotteries as much as they can. In the end, research has shown that 90% of lottery players never get to win at all while 5% wins just once or twice.

Calling SA a Xenophobic country is like calling Nigeria a human ritualist nation or saying India is a rapist country (Fact check: you're more likely to be raped in America than in India) or believing US is a racist country because cops shoot Blacks (Fact check: A black man is the president of the US).

That you hear of an occurrence in the news every other day doesn't make it the truth of the situation on ground. Mind you, most people with the Xenophobic chorus have never even been to the country.

Long story short: Xenophobia is just another availability bias swallowed by Africans hook, line and sinker.

Politics / Re: S/africa Starts Of With Buhari On Clean Slate, To Return $15m Arms Money by ayox2003: 7:22am On Apr 11, 2015
Since we became the largest economy, SA has enviously "fretted" against us, even to the extent of taking it out on Nigerians living there.

But now that Buhari is in place - the New King, they now know that Oga na Master. Naija is now the king of Africa!

The money returned is a sign of respect because Buhari hasn't even asked for it. wink

This was exactly what the current president of China did when he assumed office.

One of the reasons I voted for Buhari apart from his sterling integrity, was his anti-corruption stance. The likes of Deziani and Marilyn Ogar that have fed fat-rotund-bloated on our money and now romancing with Abdusalam to beg Buhari should be prosecuted, and the money refunded into the treasury.

I dont concur with Buhari not probing GEJs administration. I'm sure if an audit is carried out and he gets to see the gargantuan amount that had been looted, he would change his mind.

Family / Re: Stimulating Creativity And Critical Thinking In Kids. by ayox2003: 5:05am On Feb 25, 2015
>
Its 5am and here thinking of how best I can answer your question without surfing "Ways to foster critical thinking & creativity among kids"...Without mentioning reading, solving puzzles, maths problems and so on.

Anyway, one of the patterns I have found that works very well is asking questions, frequently? You're cooking a special dish, you could ask which is better: Cooking at home or eating out at their favourite restaurant? If they give an answer, counter it and let the debate begin. Always ask WHY? For instance, Why did you choose eating out? Why don't you think I should prepare this meal at home? If they can't come up with ideas, you can chip in words like "Is it because I dont add ice-cream to it here at home?". Why stimulates the brain to come up with reasons.

I suggest that this starts within their area of interest. Then the circle grows larger till you realize that they can come up with points and prepare for any of your questions. Also make it fun so they don't get bored with your questions.

Second, give them tasks. As little as arranging their beds, cleaning the dining table, mopping the kitchen floor, they get to use more of their hands and this means they're actually doing stuffs. If at first it takes them, lets say, 15 mins to lay their beds, and then you notice its takes less time to do the same, ask them how they were able to do it in such short time and you'd get to hear how they creatively started holding the helm of the bedspread and then take the pillow and then....creative/innovative ways of doing things has set in, but it comes first off by DOING. So always give them tasks to do.

I suggest you start with tasks that not stressful and cumbersome. Watch how they improve on it, ask how they did, suggest better ways of doing it if you don't see any improvement, then you can add new tasks.

Reading out loud: If they've already started, then you're they're fine. Reading out loud, probably every weekend boosts their confidence, sparks creativity (let them actually bark like a dog and mew like a cat when they read those lines to you. Hahahahaha.). Tell them to act it out. Poems and rhymes, with a little writing - write 5 sentences about how you spent your day, your best friend, why you like the dog etc etc. Oh I finally talked about reading books.. . embarassed Can't help it.

Easy to brand any one that opposes ur idea "cheapstake, bought" etc.

Let me ask u, do u just switch lane blindly simply bc ur lane is bumpy without looking ahead to know if d lane u intend switching to has a broken down truck packed there? U just switch blindly to waste ur life?

Guy, apc has not proved they are better alternative simple, d desperation at grabbing power is their greatest undoing

APC has not proven to be a better alternative but would you in your rattled sense compare the combination of General Buhari and Prof Osinbajo with GEJ & Sambo?

Will you compare an Oshiomole with Igbinedion? Ajimobi with Akala? Amosun with Gbenga Daniel?

Heck! You wanna comapare a Fayemi with Fayose?

Omisore would have been governor if he'd won Osun poll with PDP! Really? Are you in another clime?

See, a better alternative is in the moon. Go look for it right there!

Mynd44:

Sure everyone does but why should I be campaigned to vote APC?

Its just like asking why you should vote the Democratic party over the Republican party in the US? Who cares? For the records, more politicians have crossed from the Democrats to GOP and vice-versa than any two party in history.

What a lot of you posters here don't know is that at the birth of democracy, history has shown that a lot of politicians cross - carpet until each party forms an unspoken ideology.

There was the Federalist Party, Jeffersonian Party, National Republican Party, Whig Party - all these won presidential elections way before the formation of the Democrats & GOP that we now have in the US. So if our 16year old democracy can give us 2 strong political parties to choose from, and I've experienced one for those years with little to show for it, why not give the other a try?

I believe alot of you here are cheapstakes, easy to buy, one dime a dozen, that you flip as soon as PDP throws bone at you. So I won't be surprised if the OP becomes the latest mongrel.

>>>> This post is for sane minds <<<<<<

The rot of the Military in any country is the measure of the highest point of corruption.

The Military is known to be disciplined, resolute and firm.

But under this administration, they have been used to:

1) rig elections as in the leaked tape in Ekiti.
2) discredit the opposition as in Buhari's certificate saga
3) enrich the cabal while disarming the gallant soldiers in the war against Boko Haram - monies meant for the procurement of weapons been siphoned while soldiers die on the battlefield just as stated in the letter one of the soldiers wrote to the President
4) And now to threaten democracy by arm twisting INEC to postpone the elections.

Any sane mind, who truly has a thinking cap would've asked why NOW?

However, we will wait; we will walk; we will live and VOTE for a new government. Enough is enough.

A president that asked how much Jim Nwobodo stole, a man who stole 5 million dollars back then, does not deserve a sane man's vote.

Jarus:
In line with my belief that we should not rely on Social Media buzz alone for Buhari victory in the forthcoming election, I decided to contribute my token beyond Social Media.

I decided to focus on the grassroots, with special ettention to my Senatorial District, Kwara South, where a large percentage of real voters are semi-literate people who don't know Facebook.

I have scripted and got produced a jingle, in Yoruba, for Buhari.

It will run on OKIN FM, Offa, Kwara State as follows:

Saturday & Sunday: 11.15 am (During Newspaper review in Yoruba) and 4.15pm during commercial break

Weekdays: 11.15am

The jingle starts running tomorrow. If you live in Kwara state, especially Kwara South, please listen to the jingle.

We must deliver Kwara South to Buhari.

I'm also co-sponsoring a rally in the Offa, the hub of Kwara South, on 31st January.

This is my token contribution to entrenching change.

NB: If you're interested in getting a copy of the jingle, shoot me an email: jarushub@gmail.com. You can use as ringtone, share among friends etc.

Jarus, put it up on Sound Cloud or Tubidy.com where we can download it.

Nice one!

.............

.
.

erm... why are we so focused on 950 deaths and ignoring 53,000?

There are even suggestions that the govt's legacy of improved roads across the country may have led to an INCREASE in fatalities, as cars and trucks speed more on smooth roads.

Could Jonathan's infrastructure transformation be killing more Nigerians than Boko Haram?

Just a little something to make you go...hmmmmm. cool

>
First, where did you freaking get your numbers from? ??.?

Ian Bremmer''s latest death casualty tracker says lives lost to Boko Haram last year alone was 7,711.

Carry out an indepth research before you post on here.

Second, according to the World Health Organisation WHO, 6.6 million kids die before age 5. Does it mean we should not pay attention to Ebola because it had just killed less than 10,000 people? Does it mean that tackling the death of those kids is more of grave concern than the Ebola Virus?

Your reasoning is not only warped but dangerous , bereft of the lamest feedback mechanism.

FYI: For those that have said Boko Haram started killing during the regime of Jonathan, Boko Haram killed more people in 2009, when Yaradua was alive than when Jonathan took power. In fact, 2011 casualties were less than the death toll in 2009 when Yaradua was president. So what gives?

An average joe should put one and two together that Buhari's certificate wouldn't have been an issue now at his fourth run with INEC, even after contesting elections three times in the past.

Kudos to the PDP campaign strategists for fooling a lot of Nigerians as always.
