One thing is money management, another is risk management.

Money management has a basic rule, which is: dont stake more that 5% on any trade. Thats just it. We no need to dey preach about this.

Risk Management basically means how do I want to trade based on the 5% I'm willing to lose? Do you understand the difference now? Take for instance, I have a $1000 account and 5% of the account is $50. Now you have made up your mind that its 50pips (which is 0.1 lotsize, the same as $1 per pip) you wanna use as your stop-loss. Risk management comes into play when you now say, should I use all the 50pip stop-loss on EURUSD sell or I should use 25pips on EURUSD sell and the other 25pips on AUDJPY buy or should I use just 35pips since there's a major resistance before my 50pips (price)? Risk management entails looking at the risk (stop-loss) and making the decision on how best to manage it. I'm not saying we should split our risks, I'm just using it as an example o.

Lol, I'm not lecturing, just want us to have a fruitful discussion about psychology and trade management. For newbies to also learn from these things, afterall this thread should not be all about alerts and charts, it should be all-encompassing.

Elewedu, I have no doubt in my mind that u'd be a successful trader! What a mentality you have! You have spoken well. Since you started the BOM thread with us, your patience and discipline has been a shining light. All I can say is that you should keep it up. Keep learning, infact I cant stress this enough! You know life has a way of getting at us. For instance, on his way to work, a man was hit by a truck and lost his spinal cord. He became almost useless but now, he's a successful trader because trading is the only job that he could do without moving his legs. So please keep learning, even if life acts funny, you already have the skill to combat any financial challenge.

Natruetalk you also have spoken well. For me, emotion used to be a big problem but I over came it. Now, my lot size dont worry me at all, I mean, I dont panic when it hits my stops because I have never risked more than 6%, which is much for a newbie but for me, as a matter of fact, I increase my lot size by one on every thousand made. For instance, with $1000 my lotsize was 0.1 which is $1 per pip, for $2000 it was still $1, it was until $3000 that I started increasing it to 2$, then $4000 was $3 and so on. With that, one can never go wrong, infact with only 50pips perweek after your losses and gains, just multiply 52 weeks by 50 pips, thats 2600pips per year. Thats a great return on investment already. Even if you make a 1000pips in the whole year, you are already a successful trader.

On NZDCAD 4H TF, we wanna look at the AB=CD pattern using rule 2 stated above.

EURCAD: Short at 1.3924, SL: 1.3951, first and final target on the chart.

Based on trendlines alone, price could not break above 2 and the inverted hammer signaled a down move. Drawing a fib from the swing 1 to 2, a resistance which might become support was at the 50 fib. Once its broken, then the target still holds, if not, then this pair would head back to 2 before heading down.

Will be around to monitor this, why didnt place a specified TP.

For AB=CD pattern,

First of all identify the pattern and label it.

Note that it must have four distinct points A, B, C and D.

NOTE THIS: AB=CD pattern has the following rules
1)-----------When AB= 50, CD must be 2.00
2)-----------When AB = 61.8, CD must be 161.8
3)-----------When AB = 70.7, CD must be 141


Please note this! In the chart I posted here, AB was at 70.7 on point C, so CD was also at 141, which obeyed rule 3.

Seems like EURCHF (Daily TF)as broken the triangle 1, 2,3 4, 5, 6 but it also to be heading north. SO its best that one waits till the end of the day to get a clear direction.

If it closes below the support, then we sell.

If it closes well above the triangle, then it will get to 7.

Still holding this trade. Took this trade because of the two harmonic patterns that was found on this pair. A bearish crab (Orange color) and a bearish shark (Deep purple). Its highly recommended that stops are placed above D but I had to put my stops at X to minimize risk. To determine the TP of any harmonic pattern, draw the fib from A to D a potential target. Red lines indicates potential targets.

natruetalk: My experience on last week trade and lesson learned

I end last week positively but yet learn some lesson from my trade.

Firstly lession:-
On EUR/NZD i took a risk on the pair entered emotionally simply because the north move was on straight 4days with good pips upward. sighted a not cleared enough mini-resistance i ignored some other aspect i suppose to considered & entered the trade with 80pips SL with the hope of catching some pips before it resume back her north journey, babysitted the trade because i understood it was a risk trade.
bad side of it i closed the trade with negative 25pips
good side of it, i didn't deceive myself by fighting right with the market then i save myself 55pips.

Second Lession-
After a good analysis of chart on Crude oil with my master last Thursday, we conclude the commodity has higher probability of moving north. i entered the trade but oil did not initially made up her mind. emotionally closed the trade with small positive pips, entered again close with positive pips after some hours then made up my mind to closed the day on oil for total of +92.
open my chart on friday noticed the oil still strong on the upward move. this time i made up my mind to join the train with 100pips SL then close my chart to come back 3pm to avoid emotional trade this time.
came back to open my chart at 2.45pm met the trade with 55pips red. i said to myself 3pm might be disaster for the pair then closed my trade with 60pips negative 5 minute later. behold my people the candle close at 3pm 3pip below the closed 60pips red and the new candle open by 3pm was a longest on north move with 200pips left me behind with the stress of identifying the good tradingsetup with my boss while those we took the trade together smilling with over 300pips from thursday and still on the trade.

What did i do wrong?
to me nothing, i follow my MM style. what if the trade goes other way ? trade is like that atleast i planned to save my capital. though i missed that move but another one will come.
