A former Bayelsa State Governor, Timipre Sylva, has carpeted President Goodluck Jonathan on his handling of security in Nigeria. Sylva described Jonathan’s approach to security issues as poor, embarrassing and partisan, according to a statement by his Media Adviser, Mr. Duofie Buokoribo. The former governor, who is also one of the leaders of the All Progressives Congress, condemned the bloody attack on the convoy of the APC National Leader and a former Head of State, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) He described the assassination attempt on Buhari as “a spineless assault on the voice of conscience in Nigeria by bigoted terrorists and their political sponsors seeking evil attention.” He noted that Nigerians by their traditions and religions, were naturally a peaceful people. Sylva said persons promoting “this campaign of death and destruction” would surely be punished by God and men. He insisted that Nigerians were frustrated by the way the Jonathan-led Federal Government was handling the menace of insurgency. Source: www.punchng.com/news/sylva-scores-jonathan-low-on-security/

Manuel Pellegrini hailed his City new boys after the Blues defeated Sporting Kansas 4-1 in their first US tour match. Youngster Bruno Zuculini, whose move to City is still to be ratified by the Premier League, scored a cracking early goal, while another young prospect Kelechi Iheanacho was also on target. More experienced duo goalkeeper Willy Caballero and midfielder Fernando got valuable game time in what was a satisfying opener for the boss. Pellegrini told MEN Sport in Kansas: "We have new players. Willy Caballero is good keeper and I know him. "Zuculini is a young player who has come from Argentina and Fernando has more experience in Europe with Porto. "Both of them had very good performances. "Finally, Kelechi is just 17 years old and he’s a very important player for us in the future. "He demonstrated today what he can do in the future. It depends on the way he takes this profession, but I think he’s a good talent." Pellegrini also said that more player are arriving after the World Cup but they will need to get up to speed first. He added: "Five more players have arrived – Joe Hart, Milner, Edin Dzeko, but they have just started working so they will not be considered for the next two games. Maybe for the last game against Olympiacos but not before because they have to do their pre-season." http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/manchester-city-fc-pre-season-tour-7496807

jaso1: If you are not a fool, you should have smell rat from president statement that he thank God to have save Buhari live. A security conscious person would have make more sincere and security statement that will show the world that he is innocent of the bombing. He thank God to have save Buhari! what happen to other innocent souls that lost? Does it even fit in to the president to keep condemning all attack without serious approach that will see the end of BH? Have you asked yourself what your president need $1b for? Do you even bother why indicted BH sponsors have not been arrested and prosecuted? You are a big fool!Musiwa?? ![]() |

I read on this forum some days ago that one of the reasons PDP created Boko Haram (that's if they actually did) is for them to carry out acts like this (eliminate political threats) and hide under the cloak of Boko Haram. I think I'm beginning to understand better. All those claiming Buhari acted this up...I don't see any reason why Buhari would just act such a scene that was 100% life threatening to him. No be Nollywood be this O wey you go die wake up later ![]() |

The bodies of the first victims of the Malaysian Airlines MH17 tragedy have been returned to the Netherlands, honoured in a moment of silence by Dutch soldiers, dignitaries and grieving family members. Two military aircraft, one from the Netherlands carrying 16 bodies and the other from Australia carrying 24, touched down around 3:50 p.m. CEST at the Eindhoven Air Base, where the flights were met by Dutch King Willem-Alexander, Queen Maxima, Prime Minister Mark Rutte and other government officials. Hundreds of relatives were also there. Of the 298 people killed when the Boeing 777 was downed in Eastern Ukraine last Thursday, 193 were Dutch. Wellwishers laid flowers on a growing pile and signed a condolence book at the airport as the first plane made its descent. Flags from every country the victims hailed from — including Canada's, for 24-year-old Andrei Anghel — flew at half-mast on the tarmac. It’s unclear if Anghel, from Ajax, Ont., was on one of the planes. Anghel's sister, Lexi, told CBC News her family is still devastated by the loss and isn't planning to travel to the Netherlands at this time. Dutch soldiers dressed in dark blue uniforms marched into place and saluted before taking the caskets off the planes and loading them into hearses. Dutch King Willem-Alexander, Queen Maxima, Prime Minister Mark Rutte were on hand. King Willem-Alexander clasped his wife's hand as the couple grimly watched teams carry the coffins slowly from the planes to a fleet of waiting hearses. Almost the only sound was of boots marching across the ground and flags flapping in the wind. The CBC’s Tom Parry, reporting from the Eindhoven, said the bodies would be moved to Hilversum military base, about 100 kilometres away, where forensics teams will begin identifying them. Dutch officials have warned grieving family members that it could take months before the bodies are identified. "If I have to wait five months for identification, I can do it," said Silene Fredriksz-Hoogzand, whose son, Bryce, and his girlfriend Daisy Oehlers died in the crash. "Waiting while the bodies were in the field and in the train was a nightmare." http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/malaysia-airlines-flight-mh17-victims-bodies-arrive-in-the-netherlands-1.2715147
