NOUN PRISON INMATE EMERGES BEST POST-GRADUATE STUDENT OF OPEN UNIVERSITY

Chukwununso Nomeh who was convicted and sentenced in 2010 graduated from the National Open University with 3.80.

Chukwunonso Nomeh, an inmate of the Enugu Maximum Prison has reportedly emerged as the best post-graduate student at Special Study Centres of the National Open University, NOUN.

The spokesperson of the Nigeria Prison Service in Enugu State,  Chukwuemeka Mondayannounced Nomeh's academic achievement in a statement issued on Friday, January 12.

Monday said Nomeh who was convicted and sentenced in 2010, gained admission into the open university for Masters in Business Administration (MBA) programme.

The spokesperson added that the inmate graduated with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.80 from the university.

In 2014, Chukwuemeka Monday recalled that an inmate of the same Enugu Maximum Prison,Theophilus Adeniyi emerged the overall best graduating students while in prison, adding that the inmate is now pursuing his Ph.D. program

Other inmates advised to enrol in NOUN

The Controller of the Prison, Ndubuisi Ogbodo, therefore, urged the inmates to enrol in the National Open University and embrace the transformation agenda of the Controller General, Ja’afaru Ahmed.

Ogbodo also called on Nigerians to accept ex-convicts as responsible and reformed members of the society.

HUGE INVESTMENT IN EDUCATION KEY TO SUSTAINABLE DEVT, SAYS NOUN VC

By Mohammed Aminu in Sokoto

The Vice-Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Abdullah Uba Adamu, Tuesday said huge investment in education is key to sustainable development in the country.

Adamu made the remark at a workshop organised by NOUN in conjunction with the Sokoto State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in Sokoto.

He posited that Nigeria is in dire need of accelerated development which could be achieved only in investing huge resources in education.

According to him, education is dynamic and training and retraining of teachers is necessary to produce qualitative teachers.

Adamu, who spoke through the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic of NOUN, Prof. Joy Esiri, noted that teachers are the hallmark of education for it to achieve the desired goals.

EXCLUSIVE : NEW GRADUATION LIST IS OUT

By Repota Atlarge
Investigations by Repota Atlarge reveal that a new graduation list has been made available to different study centers yesternight. According to our findings, the list has been solely made available to the Administrative or Information and Communication Technology (ICT) departments of different study centers.
Pending on when the school authority decides to publish it, students can liaise with the ICT officers of their study center to check their names on the list.
In an interview with Repota Atlarge this morning, a student confirmed these findings by testifying of having found her name on the graduation list yesternight.
According to the student who craved anonymity, '' Around 10pm last night, the ICT officer of my department called me that a new graduation list is out. He also helped me check for my name and glory be to God, it was on the list ''.
Speaking on whether the list has been published in his study center, he replied : '' No it hasn't. I think it's available and accessible to only the ICT officers of different study centers pending on when they decide to publish it. However, students can liaise with them to help check for their names ''.
