Hello
We also had a baby at del sol el paso on 31st dec

1. Rodolofo send only email of zero balance sheet. Will it be ok for future visa or poe

2. Saira at del sol said that after 2 weeks she will send itemized bill. Although we paid only 2200 usd at del sol. Is she going to send something more. How was your experience

3. Passport appointment on 9th jan.
Can dummy ticket will work. Showing return on 15th jan
Do we need baby photographs.
What should we write in ds-11 form for social security.

4. Anything we need to take from del sol or east side medical center before we leave usa.
Is post natal check up and baby check up on 14 dec we can skip?

Somandla:
Correct, baby born Saturday, Birth certificate was out Wednesday, I went to pick up Thursday and got passport pics, Friday morning went to process passport and requested to have it same day, got it in the afternoon, so everything before the baby was even 7days.

The only thing that was mailed to my relatives was the SSN envelope, which they got 16days after my birth, so very quick

How much time it takes to get birth certificate and passport in new jerssy
As per flier minimum cost is 4000+2000+750=6750

But you told the total cost u paid is 5000

NBako:

Epidural should be under anaesthesia fees I guess .
I didn’t use that service. But everything is listed on the flyer.

You might get cheaper in other states I guess . But this was good for me as it was straight forward and no Hidden charges

Well on the flyerthe cost looks 4000 usd plus 2000 usd for dr plus 750 for the baby... doesnt inlude epidural and induction... pls correct me
NBako:

Are you just talking about hospital for birthing ? Cos there’s a different fee for The gynaecologist that’s your Dr you see B4 and after delivery , totally different from the hospital.
I used a Dr in NJ his fees was about 2k and my birthing was 5k .. I posted about them earlier.

Just to add on my father in law is willing to write anything on affidavit for the sake of consent. Pls advise what should I write it from him that can save me. Or
going and reverse the insurance is the only option.
Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by baauh: 11:53pm On Feb 07, 2015
Sorry for coming back on this forum.

My father in law agrees on giving me affidavit that he used some insurance to pay the delivery charges. He is not willing to tell insurance name. Looks like some public insurance. he will write also that I have nothing to do with this whole procedure and he should be liable for this.

will this affidavit help me for my future visas?
actually he starts talking with me again when I denied consent for passport. I asked him this affidavit as demand for the consent.

I got full details too, the hospital was katz women hospital North shore-long Island Jewish Health System New York.
He says that he will try to reverse insurance if I am willing to pay the amount. so far he didn't tell me the amount. But he is quoting rough figure of 15-20 thousand USD. it was normal delivery. Is that really true charges. Can that hospital disclose the actual charges to me.

What you people suggest should I rely on affidavit or should I go an pay off the hefty bills. That will be really burden.
Pls advise should I consult any attorney.

Just want to share text from US embassy upon my enquiry of bringing baby without US passport. I am thinking hard to share my exact truthful story with them.
"
Your child shall be national and citizen of the United States at birth if he was born in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof. Section 215 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1185) states that “Except as otherwise provided by the President and subject to such limitations and exceptions as the President may authorize and prescribe, it shall be unlawful for any citizen of the United States to depart from or enter, or attempt to depart from or enter, the United States unless he bears a valid United States passport.”

Therefore, your son should be in possession of a valid US passport to travel outside the U.S.

Thank you,

The hospital was Northshore LIJ New York. I have birth certificate too bearing me as father name. she send me on whatsapp before this fuss.
I checked the hospital website they don't share any information or any other thing without the patient consent.
I guess the bill of this hospital on new York must be very very high.
My wife & father in law is not sharing the insurance company name.
I want to try towards hospital since I have the birth certificate copy to get any records. will they help. Also any idea about the cost of this hospital. My wife had normal delivery.

Amother4life:

I will tell you one more time my brother.... If you indeed told the consular officer about paying $10k when you did not to get that visa...DO NOT USE IT. Tell your wife to send you a scanned copy of any document she has that will shade more light on this insurance matter.
(she can snap a few pages and send through whatsapp)Anyone telling you to go ahead and travel with this visa doesn't realize the full implications. Use that ticket money towards paying down your child's hospital debt.
If your wife decides to go the DS5525 route instead of providing the insurance documents then she will have to swear an affidavit stating the reason why your consent cannot be gotten. Do you even know the name of your baby? The hospital your wife delivered in etc? This is the time to begin digging yourself out of the mess and not get entangled in more mess. Do not travel with that visa! You will have many more opportunities to travel but in the meantime do this the right way. Do not burn the bridge for others intentionally. I will not say anymore on this topic. Back to preggy n poe gist Jare..My 4cents.

I am not a troll. neither I have that much time to behave like troll. My circumstances make me behaving like this. My in-laws really hurt me.

I have read US passport website that if I don't give consent ( Form 3053). they can still use form DS-5525 to claim that father is not reachable. Is that easy to use DS-5525.
If they are able to use form DS-5525 will she be declared as single mother. Any idea on implications on DS-5525.

@Kizluv

She is not single officially. On paper she is still married. how can she still get passport without my consent. If she can get passport without my consent, whats the purpose of this step by US government.
I want to give consent, but I just want them to talk with me properly and inform me what wrong doing they did properly so that we can rectify.

If suppose my child is not able to get passport, he can still get later on from the consulate if all issues are resolved later on.

Sorry for keeping thread flooded with my queries. I shall stop soon to enquire once I got a complete guideline.

Thanks for your valuable suggestions. I am thinking hard to reconcile or not just for the child sake. but so far my in laws highly incorporative. they are not even telling my the insurance company name. That making me more doubtful. Just asking for the consent form. I hope there is not alternative of consent otherwise they might not contact me. Even I drop message to my father in law to clear the bills by cash he is not replying to me.
I am just counting on time what they will decide.

@ Buuaah;Your situation isn't so bad. It can still be corrected..
Firstly, Travel to whichever state that your wife is, get all the details of her medical bills, seek expert opinion as regards the insurance. If eventually you need to pay back, develop a payment plan to offset the bills. if your inlaws are willing to assist on this, pls swallow your pride and show appreciation.
Secondly,The issue between you and your wife can be sorted out. After clearing all the medical issue, take your wife for a weekend and try iron out your differences. You guyz need to make some sacrifices. Remember whatever you guyz decide will affect the innocent child positively or negatively. And if u cannot resolve it amongst yourself, pls seek counselling. But please leave both in-laws out of it.
I wish you and your family the very best this new month. all the best.
Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by baauh: 12:25am On Feb 02, 2015
Now my questions...
1. who bought her flight ticket? you or your father in law?
I bought the ticket.
2. when she was going, did you give her the 5k USD you had earlier budgeted?
At that time my father in law say you don't have to give anything I will bear everything. Just send her, in angry tone.

3. why did you tell VO that you sponsored with 10k? I have a feeling he had seen it on the system that your wife used insurance. just couldn't deny you because you claim yo want to go see your baby. They respect family ties a lot.

At that time I wasn't aware that they used insurance. I just came to know2 days back when they asked for consent letter.

4. The 10k USD you claimed, do you have it? if yes why not send it to your wife to make the payment and if your father in law that insisted that his daughter to have baby in US can help out with the balance, all well and good and if not set up payment plan to suit your income(have heard people on the forum say its possible) after all the Americana baby will bear your name. yeah it might be difficult cos you still need to keep the family running but I bet you, chicken in out of this by denying your wife and baby is not the solution.

I can but I don't know because of this bad happenings me and my wife are going to stay together again or not. her father lied a lot with me and put so much pressure. I applied for visa just to see my child. Never know that I can be put in this trouble.

Gracydee:
@ Bauuh, your stories are kinda disjointed.
1. you were asking for cheap hospitals in NJ because you had a budget of 5kUSD.
2. you were asking if you could bring your baby home with naija passport after collecting BC and apply for passport in your home country
3. Next, you say your wife had baby in NY with insurance, you are not aware and you went ahead to lie to the VO that you sponsored with 10th USD.
4. Then, you are suddenly not in good terms with your wife and your father in law forced you to let her go. And to cap it all, you are already talking about disclaimer, separation..........Not too good.

Now my questions...
1. who bought her flight ticket? you or your father in law?
2. when she was going, did you give her the 5k USD you had earlier budgeted?
3. why did you tell VO that you sponsored with 10k? I have a feeling he had seen it on the system that your wife used insurance. just couldn't deny you because you claim yo want to go see your baby. They respect family ties a lot.
4. The 10k USD you claimed, do you have it? if yes why not send it to your wife to make the payment and if your father in law that insisted that his daughter to have baby in US can help out with the balance, all well and good and if not set up payment plan to suit your income(have heard people on the forum say its possible) after all the Americana baby will bear your name. yeah it might be difficult cos you still need to keep the family running but I bet you, chicken in out of this by denying your wife and baby is not the solution.

my 2 cents ooh.........abeg apologies for long post,

If I don't go on this visa can that jeopordise my chances of getting US visa again as I have hear if you don't go on visit visa in allotted time they don't issue visit visa again.
If that's true I will not use this visa.

and I swear upon god I am telling truth and seeking help. Its not like I am wasting your valuable time or gaining sympathies. Please don't taunt me as anyone can be put in such situation unintentionally.

I have hear if you don't go to USA on visit visa, they will never issue you visit visa again. Is that true. I have plan not to use this visa if its true.
She is really my wife, but we were not on good terms on this delivery matter.
To be honest I have asked my in laws family to pay by cash, they acknowledge, but in the end eund up by insurance, which I was kept ignorant unless I asked for receipts.

Amother4life:

Your post is now reeked of desperation. If you like divorce the lady(if she really is your wife), withhold consent letter etc. These acts cannot exonerate you from the fact that you lied to a consular officer during your interview. Unless of course you can proof that your wife (who was in U.S) mysteriously appeared at the visa interview with a gun to your head and asked you to lie... Gather up money and send to your "wife" to remedy the situation.
As for your ability to enter the U.S in future ...there is a 30% chance it may happen. But DO NOT use the visa you currently have under any circumstance . just my 2cents

Please I don't want to ruin this valuable thread by my bad experience. I am very worried that's why asking all possibilities

My in laws did delivery in very expensive hospital of New York.
Me and my wife were not on good terms. My father in law
forced me to let her go for delivery. They kept me ignorant. however I always asked them to pay by cash. Which they didn't I just come across the situation now when they asked for the consent and in return I asked for the receipts.

Please advise me properly how I can get rid of situation where I don't ruin my future chances of visa. shouldn't I write to American embassy here and tell all the wrong stuff did by my in laws and cancel my visa.

kizluv:

Yes, it would affect you BIG TIME, to think that you even considered denying the consent letter is heartbreaking. How do you want to remove yourself? Why do you want to abandon your wife and child, after she carried the baby for 9 months and gave birth? Why do you want to prove that you wer not involved? What do you want her to do? Didnt you also lie to the VO.? Haba, this is sad. cry .You said you planned on paying, why don't you work out a solution/payment plan, like everyone has been advising you to do. Instead of leaning on abandoning them. Or has the money been spent on something else? Hmmm, double wahala for dead body ...
Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by baauh: 9:44pm On Feb 01, 2015
Thanks for your input.

To be honest I wasn't aware that my wife used insurance for delivery until I asked for receipts.

Suppose I got separation later on, will they ask for receipts for my later visas too. can they still block my further visas. Can I prove someway that I wasn't involve in this process.
Can I cancel my current 6 months visa and along with that share my awful story.
Before delivery my plan was always to pay by cash not delivery.

Actually I intend to go for my post graduate studies after 2-3 years will this affect my visa.

lalavita:
@baauh
It seems as though you do not understand the implications of you and your wife's unethical & illegal actions by using Medicaid.

Visa Renewal
As you said, you only got a 6 month single entry visa. This already indicates that there was some questionmark around your app as the standard visa for Nigerians is 2 years multiple.

When you or your wife try to renew your visas (even if your wife tries to use DropBox which you are ineligible for), you will be asked for the receipts of your childbirth costs which you will not be able to produce
At that point, your visa will be REFUSED and your wife's visa will be REFUSED

Medicaid Repayment
It gets harder and harder to repay medicaid as time passes.
If you do not pay back, you will be REFUSED US visa each time you apply and potentially banned

Long term implications
By not paying this money back, your future children will not be able to be born in the USA as both parents will not be able to obtain visas.
As per your present child who is a US citizen, you could miss major milestones in his/her life - e.g Graduation ceremony, wedding, visiting grandchildren etc...

There are many people who made this medicaid mistake in the 90s and are still banned from the USA today.

Good luck.

Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by baauh: 1:49pm On Feb 01, 2015
Thanks a lot for your valuable input.

Suppose I leave this issue and apply for visa later on how come they will come to know that insurance company pay the bill.
will that effect always my chance of any type of visa.
If I apply for visa years later.

lalavita:
The deed has already been done.
Now it is time to repair the damage done. What you are suggesting below is further dishonest behaviour that is going to put you in bigger trouble.

1. Go and meet the financial advisor of the hospital you delivered
2. Tell them that you erroneously accepted Medicaid
3. Tell them you want to pay back the money
4. Keep calling and keep going to their office until they give you an answer
5. Repaying medicaid is challenging but is not impossible, I know 1 or 2 mums on this forum have done it
6. If you cannot afford the full amount, agree a payment plan
7. Ensure you pay back and get receipts

On a side note, I had seen an earlier post by @baauh where he mentioned he had a $5000 budget for birth in NY/NJ which is not a realistic estimate for those states. This thread has so many resources and options which fits various budgets so no need to get oneself in this type of wahala.

Hi Thanks for your input.

For passport my consent in written is required. Can I deny that consent so that I am not being part of this malfunctioning.
Later on for Visa can I make my end safe. To be honest it wasn't my idea too to have this type of insurance.

Amother4life:

Hi,
Your wife did not somehow "manage" to use U.S tax payer insurance for delivery without somebody lying on the relevant forms.
The U.S. government does not offer socialized medical care for foreigners.
The so called "free" healthcare that your wife has enjoyed was arranged for her by an unscrupulous person who knowingly falsified records.
This bill will eventually be paid by U.S tax payers. You have further complicated the whole case by lying to a consular officer under oath during your visa interview to derive immigration benefit which is a material misrepresentation.
The only way to HOPEFULLY remedy this case ( you may still be banned from entering the United States) is to pay off all your bills when you visit your wife and keep the receipts .
Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by baauh: 10:34am On Feb 01, 2015
My wife in New York somehow manage to have delivery using some insurance company in New York USA. My wife was on B2 visa.

After delivery I applied for USA visa and told the reason of seeing my baby. I claimed that I sponsored the delivery of baby by giving 10000 $.
The visa officer gave me only 6 months single entry visa.

He told next time if you are applying for visa you have to prove that you really sponsored.

by having baby through insurance will jeopardize my future visa or is it legal to have baby through insurance.
Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by baauh: 6:08pm On Jan 31, 2015
Is it possible that after getting Baby delivery and getting the Birth certificate, we leave USA on our own country passport.
Then apply for USA passport from the consulate in our home country.
