Politics › Re: We Must Stop Buhari Before He Sends Us To Jail – Ex-senator, Zwingina by Baawaa(m): 5:48pm On Feb 24, 2015
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate for Adamawa South Senatorial District, Silas Zwingina, has claimed that the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Muhammadu Buhari, intends to send public office holders to jail if he emerges president.
Mr. Zwingina, therefore, urged his party members to work hard to ensure that Mr. Buhari fails in his bid to become president.
Speaking in Yola, the Adamawa state capital, Mr. Zwingina said “we have to stop Buhari and his plan to build more prisons to jail politicians.
“You know Buhari, he will send us to jail for between 200 to 300 years and it is the lucky ones among us that will get 50 years.
“As you know, there is no way you will hold office in Nigeria and go scot free if the authorities want to get you.
“Buhari is determined to send people to jail and even APC governors are not comfortable with him and that’s why many of them are not following his campaign team,” Mr. Zwingina alleged.
Buhari will not have time for jailing ex politicians, the fact is that corruptions will be reduce.

The cordon and search in Baga has revealed some terrorists disguising as women. The searches are also yielding more discoveries of arms especially bombs hidden in various locations, especially Baga town. Apart from those captured in the course of fighting, many arrests of terrorists hiding in the town are being made and troops are still busy interrogating the suspects.

Meanwhile, in furtherance of the mission to clear terrorists from all their enclaves by the military, the Nigerian Air Force has stepped up its air bombardment of identified targets in Gwoza, Bama and Sambisa forest, preparatory to other phases of the mission. The air strikes have been highly successful as they achieved the aims, hitting vital targets with required precision.

Terrorists are now in disarray as they scamper to escape from the impact of air bombardment of their locations in the forest.

Having successfully liberated Baga where the terrorists have been marauding, the troops’ attention has now been focused on consolidation of the security of the area to pave way for return of citizens.

Politics › Your Time Is Up, Get Ready To Go Home —tinubu To Jonathan by Baawaa(op): 7:08pm On Feb 23, 2015
The national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has advised the presidential candidate of the PDP, Goodluck Jonathan to return home as the nation has provided enough shoes for him to wear in his village in Bayelsa State.

It would be recalled that President Jonathan had during his campaign in 2011 claimed that due to his very poor background, his parents could not afford to buy him shoes as a child.

Speaking in Ibadan, Oyo State on Thursday, Tinubu urged the President to return to Otuoke since he had got enough shoes.

In his words: “Go and collect your PVCs to enable you vote PDP out. It is your possession. Don’t let poll robbers rob us again. Jonathan has ruined our economy. He came and said he did not have shoes. We have bought shoes, shirts and ties for him now. Enough is enough.

“For six years, he gave us excuses that there is no money; it is time for him to go. And again, we have somebody here whose tenure has witnessed an unprecedented development in the history of Oyo State. Ajimobi has performed very well.

“So on the day of the elections, get to the polling centres early enough, vote and record the voter card number, and wait till they count your votes. With your support, we shall send PDP packing."

He said APC government would develop sectors of the economy to help Nigerians realise their potentials.

Politics › PDP Is Seriously Afraid Over The Coming Elections – Falana by Baawaa(op): 6:24pm On Feb 23, 2015
Respected lawyer and human rights activist, Femi Falana has observed that the PDP may have developed cold feet over the possible outcome of the coming elections thus prompting shift in the poll.

Falana who addressed the press under the aegis of Nigerians United for Democracy said all suggestions and considerations leading to the postponement of the election were illegal.

He warned therefore that if government decides to inaugurate an interim administration or causes any further shift of the election, it will be massively resisted.

According to him, the National Security Adviser and the Service Chiefs have no constitutional powers to advice or make input with regard to the conduct of the election.

He said the constitution under section 153 established the National Security Council (NSC) to be chaired by the president, adding that the body is the constitutionally recognised body to advice the president on security issues. “As far as we are concerned the postponement of the elections at the instance of service chiefs cannot be justified in law. It was a plot to undermine the democratic process and prevent Nigerians from exercising their rights of franchise.” Falana declared.

He said that there is no conviction that after fighting Boko Haram unsuccessfully for six years the authority will use six weeks to wipe out the group.

Falana said that under section 215 of the constitution, the police is the only authority empowered to conduct internal security while the armed forces under section 217 of the constitution has the responsibility to secure the territorial integrity of the nation.

“There is no place in the law where it is indicated that the armed forces should be used to conduct election,” he insisted, adding that if for any reason the president requires military intervention to maintain peace, he will forward a formal request to the parliament whose duty is to grant such request.
