Hausa are not tribe but ethnicity and mixed with everything around them for over 2500 years. But when it comes to Nigeria, you cannot distinguish Hausa from Fulani . In Agadez or Zinder Niger, you cannot distinguished Hausa from Tuareg, they all mixed to the point you cannot tell who is who unless you are from there or live there .

What matter is Hausa culture that overtaken every small culture around it. In Nigeria Hausa cultural than it's ethnicity.
Apart Nigerians, the Rest of the world thinks that Boko Haram are Hausa, but in reality, Boko Haram are Kanuri people not Hausa at all, even thought they speak Hausa and use Hausa to promote their hatred they are not Hausa ethnically.

African Americans are ethnically related to Africans, but culturally related to Europeans than Africans.
Fulani only keep their phonetype when they are nomadic, but once settled in cities, they tend to mix with hosted the population. That's how humans migration works for over 100,000 years.

Hausa is a Chadic language which is an offshoot of Afro-Asiatic languages family.
Chadic branch of Afro-Asiatic has 195 languages or 60% of total of 380 Afro-Asiatic languages are Chadic. The Chadic branch is in fact the oldest and the most diverse of all Afro-Asiatic languages.

Remember:
Chadic branch of Afro-Asiatic is over 5500 years old, while Hausa is about 2800 ~3000 years old.

You have no idea what you are talking about, Nigeria with it massive population of 185 million , is the most popular country in Africa (the China of Africa) ,and Hausa speakers in Nigeria alone stand over 50% of the population. Hausa is spoken in over 15 countries in Africa . The Hausa speakers (1st and 2nd speakers) in Nigeria alone are more than Swahili speakers in Kenya, Tanzania, Congo and Rwanda combined. By the way, Hausa is more beautiful sound than Bantu Kishiwahili ( Kishiwahili is 65% of Arabic loan words not proper Bantu) . I would rather learn to speak Somali, Amharic or Oromo which are very related to Hausa as second language than Kishiwahili if I really want to sound phonetically more Arabic than Bantu.

I am Hausa from republic of Niger ,living in United states for over 8 years. I've met lot of Nigerians,and none of them believed me when I said I am Hausa.
They said my accent doesn't sound west African.

In my apartment complex ( Indianapolis) ,there are some Yoruba next door,and they never knew that my wife and I are Hausa til they heard us speaking Hausa . One guy was like
" are you Hausa ?",and I said yes ,we are Hausa from Zinder- Niger ...lol
They confused us with Sudanese or Somalis,because of the way my wife dressed and our accent.
There are lot of Hausa in United states,you have to go to mosque to meet them,and if you ever doubted seeing one,you might confuse him/her to Sudanese,unless you ask his/her nationality.
