Dr Segun Oni of the Peoples Democratic Party has been declared the winner of the re run Governorship elections in Ekiti state.

The Peoples Democratic Party is leading the run Governorship elections in Ekiti state, South West Nigeria; and its candidate Dr Segun Oni may be soon be declared winner.

Reports from the collation centres which broadcasted live on the local television station shows that the PDP led the Action Congress by an overwhelming 16,068 votes, after results of all the 63 wards in the 10 local governments were collated.

The Peoples Democratic Party speaking through its Publicity Secretary has expressed lack of confidence in the neutrality of the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Ekiti state, Mrs Ayooka Adebayo to round up the conduct of  the re run Governorship elections in Ekiti state.

This is a result of her withdrawn letter of resignation in which she inferred that there was an attempt to interfere with the rule of law in the middle of the elections

Should the 74 year old woman be allowed to finish the work she started or another Resident Electoral Commissioner should be redeployed to replace her?

“It is with heavy heart that I am writing to inform you of my resignation as the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Ekiti State.


“In accordance with the rule of law, the ongoing election in Ekiti state was suppose (sic) to be the election that will enhance the image of INEC, electoral process in our dear country Nigeria and the whole black race.

Unfortunately, the circumstances changed in the middle of the process; therefore, my conscience as a Christian cannot allow me to further participate in this process.
