NYSC / The 7 Stages Of Heartbreak When Your Call-up Letter Comes Out. by babankaduna(m): 6:22pm On Oct 22, 2016
Sometimes, heartbreak means receiving your call-up letter and seeing everything you didn't expect. Let's assume you wanted to serve in Lagos, but they gave you Gombe instead.
1. It's a lie. This is not my call-up letter!
The letter has your name and course of study on it, but never!. You cannot claim it. In fact, you're so sure that you start scrolling through the call-up list to check for the other person bearing your name and surname.
Surprise surprise. You are the only person with that name and surname on the entire list. No one else. All the questions start flooding your mind and you immediately kick into the next gear.
2. WHAT THE HELL?!
Remember when your uncles and aunties collected your call up number? They said they'd help you get posted to the state you wanted because their friend in NYSC works with the person who wakes the Governor up every morning.
You dial them to ask how far, but they just give you response like,
But you didn’t depend on them 100%. After all, the bicycle they promised you since primary school hasn’t even come through.
So you made arrangements with one sure runs guy. He must have an explanation.
But you dial that one’s number and all you hear is "the number you have dialled is switched off".
3. Oh Lord, why me?
At this stage, you know you have entered one chance, so you just let the emotions take over completely.
You start thinking of all the stories you heard of Corpers going missing, or even rumours of villagers eating Corpers that have too much shakara.
4. This is the self-blame phase.
'
You start thinking about all the things you did and didn’t do. You start wondering maybe it didn’t click because the money you gave your runs guy wasn’t mint. Or whether you didn’t scream enough when you were praying about it. But last last,
5. God punish them!
The runs guy for jonzing you. The Government for refusing to scrap NYSC, and everything or everyone you think is responsible for your predicament. Minus yourself of course.
6. I don’t give a damn anymore!
At this point, you stop caring. You don’t care about what anyone has to say, you don’t care about NYSC, about what your family is going to say, or anybody at all. You’re just going to leave everything, go ahead and create a new app and become a billionaire.
Then it strikes you, all the people that have invented important things in the last 100 years had light. But you are still struggling with NEPA.
Hay God!
7. The “God dey” moment has come.
This is when your shoulder drops on this matter, never to rise again.
You now start calling to look for all the people who got posted to that state you hate so much.
And when people start to tease you about it, you just tell them “Na small thing, it didn’t even bother me at all”.
It’s just camp, you tell yourself. Just camp.
Then it dawns on you that the next one year of your life might happen very slowly in a village that might not even have Internet.

NYSC / Discount Cards For Corpers Have Been Launched by babankaduna(m): 1:58pm On Mar 28, 2016
The National Youth Service Corps » , NYSC, has officially launched its Nigerian Students and Youth Corpers’ Discount cards (NS&YCDC) in Abuja this past weekend.
During the event, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara , who attended as a special guest of honour, said the development was cause for celebration.
Consultant to the project, Hon. Bimbo Daramola said:
“The attendance should not be a surprise because with 350,000 partners on board even before the launch, our youths should naturally be excited. The implication being that with this huge partnership at inception with more to follow, the Nigerian youth knows that everywhere he turns for goods and services, there are discount cards available to be enjoyed. They won’t only save some money, they will also be able to get more for the little they have. "
Daramola also assured Nigerians that in two years, the discount cards will have served the 23 million Nigerian youths well.
He added that the initiative was in sync with one of the core programme on his eight point agenda.
“This card is addressing the welfare issue and that is why he is very optimistic that it will add value to the corpers’ lives. Corpers » should be warned not to abuse it by embarking on unnecessary travels because of discount they will get. We all know the situation of our roads, so please don’t abuse it especially on travel ,” he said.
The event was attended by guests from all walks of life including the academia, top government functionaries, diplomat corps, public servants, student bodies and politicians.

Jokes Etc / Rules Of Football When We Were Kids by babankaduna(m): 10:48pm On Feb 07, 2016
* The fat kid was always the goalkeeper; * The owner of the ball decides who plays; * Penalties are awarded only if injured player curses a lot; * The match only ends when everyone gets tired; * No matter how many goals you score, the winner will be determined by the last team to score. * No referee and linesmen. You could run with the ball even behind the goal post; * If you don't participate in repairing the ball, you were given a match ban; * If you are picked last, you are a loser; * The guy who's never picked was to fetch the ball from the tree, when it got stuck, under the car or inside the gutter; * When the owner of the ball gets angry, game over! * You were allowed to change goalkeeper, in case of penalty. * The most skillful player, gets automatic selection.

Jokes Etc / Lady Attracts Hundred Of Suitors With Car, Cash, Marriage Offer In Kano State by babankaduna(m): 5:45am On Jun 18, 2015
A drama played out at the Freedom Radio Kano on
Wednesday when hundreds of teenagers besieged the
station to marry a lady who promised to give a car and
house to anybody who marries her.
The 22-year-old girl, Zainab Abdulmalik had on 'Inda Ranka',
a popular programme of the radio station on Wednesday
disclosed her intention to give the items to anybody who
marries her.
Our correspondent reports that from across the state young
boys thronged the radio station at the Sharada industrial
layout area of the state wearing their best attires.
The girl had requested that all interested young boys who
are between the ages of 17 and 25 should assemble at the
radio station for screening on Wednesday morning.
When our correspondent went to the radio station around
11.am, hundreds of youths were seen slugging it out with
security men of the radio station. While waiting at the
entrance of the station, the boys were seen running after all
female visitors, asking them whether they are Zainab.
The number of interested persons who were mainly
teenagers kept swelling until the lady arrived around 1.pm.
When she arrived, they all pounced on her expressing their
love to her. She was ferried away by security operatives
when the boys swooped on her.
Speaking to our correspondent, one of the boys, Haruna
Usman said he was interested in the lady because of the
offer.
“You know it is not un-Islamic to marry a lady because of
her wealth or knowledge, so I’m here because of the offer. I
have been longing to marry for long but my financial status
has been weighing me down. Nobody will get this
opportunity that will not grab it,” he said.
For his part, Mohammed Mustapha (25) said he decided to
offer himself to her because of the way she was treated by
her ex-boyfriend.
“I’m not a poor man because my business capital is over
N1million but I came to marry because she was jilted by her
lover. If she agrees to marry me, I promise you she will not
regret it,” he said.
In an interview with our correspondent, the girl who hailed
from Osun state said she decided to offer the items because
she was betrayed by her longtime boyfriend.
“I’m a trader at the singer market and I invested about
N5million on my lover but he jilted me after all I have done
for him. It is against this that I went to the radio station to
offer these items to anybody who is willing to marry me. I’m
single and I have never married before,” she said.

Former Governor of Adamawa State, Admiral Murtal Nyako
(retd.), is returning to Nigeria today(Saturday).
Nyako is coming from London and his flight, Lufthansa
Airline, is expected to land in Abuja this evening.
One of his political aides, who spoke with our correspondent

following the installation of Muhammadu Buhari as the

Nyako left the country hurriedly following his impeachment
from office by the state lawmakers.
His impeachment, which he is still contesting in court, came
as a result of the disagreement he had with former

having hands in Boko Haram.
He also wrote a lengthy letter to the former President,

Nyako was among the five governors that defected from the
Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives
Congress.
The former governor was declared wanted by the Economic

financial crimes.
