am in a hot mess. pls help.about six or seven years ago, my friend and her boyfriend started dating. Funke and Ade dated briefly in school. Fast forward to last year, Ade and Funke met in Canada and they both reconciled. This is after they separated in Uni about two years ago mind you o. The next thing we knew their wedding invitation cards reached us before you know they have a baby. This is early this year this happend. They were in Canada all along.

In April, Funke and her husband came back to Nigeria from Canada. They moved in somewhere on the island in Lagos here. I didn’t want to pay them a visit but Funke would always pressure me to.
I finally got to visit June and that is when my predicament started.

New White House chief of staff John Kelly was so upset with how President Donald Trump handled the firing of FBI Director James Comey that Kelly called Comey afterward and said he was considering resigning, according to two sources familiar with a conversation between Kelly and Comey.

Both sources cautioned that it was unclear how serious Kelly, then the secretary of homeland security, was about resigning himself.

"John was angry and hurt by what he saw and the way (Comey) was treated," one of the sources said.

Comey learned of his dismissal on May 9 from televisions tuned to the news as he was addressing the workforce at the FBI office in Los Angeles, law enforcement sources said at the time. Comey made a joke about it to lighten the mood and called his office to get confirmation.

Comey, who took Kelly's call while traveling back from Los Angeles to Washington, responded to Kelly by telling him not to resign, one of the sources said.

The sources said Comey and Kelly are not close friends but that they had a professional relationship and a deep mutual respect for each other.

To pass the Nigerian Peace Corps Bill, senators received kickbacks in form of job slots and cash reward from the promoters of the proposed paramilitary organisation, PREMIUM TIMES reports.

Scores of senators received at least seven employment slots each to back the bill, which was passed to, amongst other things, create the Nigerian Peace Corps as the country’s newest law enforcement agency.

Earlier today, the investigative newspaper PREMIUM TIMES is reporting that several senators have received slots and cash from the advocates of a proposed paramilitary government organization. Some of the lawmakers considered key to the passage of the law got as much as 500 slots, their findings show.

Other senators received cash rewards for their acquiescence, multiple senators, including those who benefited, allegedly told PREMIUM TIMES.

With the evolution of the world and modernization, it is somewhat hard to completely categorize one’s self underneath the blanket of ‘introvert’ completely, as a lot of things have changed over the course of the years.

Today, with the introduction of technology and social media, a lot of aspects have bent to modernization. It is not uncommon to come across introverts who are loud on social media, screaming out their opinions on social media, while maintaining their cool personality in person.

“You and Jide [i.e., OMOKORE] had some of the most support that we could possibly give. At a time when we’re not doing anything else, we stuck our necks out regarding the SAA and we supported it. [INAUDIBLE] How the two of you have ruined it is incredulous and incredible to all of us,” she said.

Mr. Bola Tinubu, the national of the All Progressives Party (APC), is also in business partnership with Mr. Wale Tinubu. A petition by two of Oando’s shareholders triggered SEC’s investigation of the oil firm.

Both petitioners have filed at least four lawsuits against Oando following a wrecked business move in which the firm acquired oil infrastructure from CONOCO Phillips in Nigeria. The questionable deal cost Oando $1.5 billion. Mr. Volpi reportedly gave Oando’s Wale Tinubu the sum of $900 million to effect the deal. In addition, Mr. Mangal reportedly contributed $250 million while former Vice President Atiku Abubakar contributed $50 million to the purchase which proved a disastrous investment for Oando. The petitioners are alleging mismanagement and ownership fraud on the part of the company’s operators.

A source at SEC said the commission’s investigators had so far found evidence that Oando had “been cooking its books for the past six years, creating the impression that it was making a profit when in fact the company was swimming in debts and overburdened by mismanagement.”

Mr. Wale Tinubu is believed to be neck deep in Oando’s financial and investment crisis. Our SEC source stated that Mr. Tinubu’s stake in the company fell to a minuscule one percent after he secured funds from Mr. Volpi, former VP Atiku, and Mr. Mangal. Our source added that former Governor Tinubu apparently counted on using his political influence with the Muhammadu Buhari administration to re-inject life into Oando, “but that hasn’t happened.”

President Buhari frequently used Mr. Wale Tinubu’s private jet during the 2015 electoral campaign. In addition, the businessman was reportedly liberal with cash donations to the campaign, according to a political source who spoke to our correspondent.

US Department of Justice moves to seize assets from oilmen who allegedly lavished gifts on Diezani Alison-Madueke

Diezani has consistently maintained her innocence and described her tenure as oil minister as the “golden years in the industry”

US prosecutors on Friday moved to seize $144m in assets including a 200-foot yacht and a Manhattan condominium one block from Central Park, calling them the fruits of an international bribery scheme that involved the then-president of Opec.

From 2011 to 2015, two Nigerian oil men, Kolawole Aluko and Olajide Omokore, alledgedly conspired with others to bribe the country’s minister for petroleum resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, in order to win oil production contracts worth $1.5bn, according to a civil forfeiture complaint.

At the time, along with controlling the country’s state-owned oil company, Ms Alison-Madueke, 56, also headed the Vienna-based oil cartel. Nigeria’s federal high court earlier this year charged her with money laundering and she has previously denied any wrongdoing.

After awarding government contracts to shell companies owned by the two men, Ms Alison-Madueke — known as “the madam” or “Madam D” — was rewarded with a “lavish lifestyle”, according to the US Department of Justice.

The justice department action targeted Mr Aluko’s vessel Galactica Star, which its builder bills as the “world’s largest fast displacement yacht”, along with condominium units in Manhattan and real estate in Southern California located just three miles from the Pacific Ocean.

“The United States is not a safe haven for the proceeds of corruption,” said acting assistant attorney-general Kenneth Blanco. “If illicit funds are within the reach of the United States, we will seek to forfeit them and to return them to the victims from whom they were stolen.”

Though known as “a small time trader” who had previously earned around $500,000 annually, in less than three years Mr Aluko purchased more than $87m of US property and the $82m yacht, according to the complaint, filed in US district court in Houston.

According to the complaint, in a conversation with Mr Aluko that prosecutors say Ms Alison-Madueke recorded, she criticised him for his lavish spending. “If you want to hire a yacht, you lease it for two weeks or whatever,” she said. “You don’t go and sink funds into it at this time when Nigerian oil and gas sector is under all kinds of watch.”

The two businessmen allegedly purchased millions of dollars worth of property in and near London for the oil minister and her family and then furnished the homes with furniture, artwork and other luxury items from Houston-area stores that she fancied.

In January 2011, the Nigerian businessmen and unidentified co-conspirators bought a Buckinghamshire home known as “The Falls” for £3.25m. Two months later, as Mr Aluko was meeting with Nigerian oil officials to discuss a contract, he arranged to buy two properties near London’s Regent’s Parks: a £1.7m home at 39 Chester Close and 58 Harley House on the Marylebone Road for £2.8m.

The first property, upgraded with an elevator and new stone flooring and countertops, was intended for the use of Ms Alison-Madueke’s mother and her son, according to the complaint.

The men that month also purchased a £3.7m flat at 83-86 Prince Albert Road for the oil minister.

Ms Alison-Madueke appears to have favoured furniture stores in the Houston area, which she patronised on periodic visits to the US oil industry capital. On a single day in May 2012, Mr Aluko wired $461,500 from a Swiss bank account to one furniture store and spent an additional $262,091 at a second on the oil minister’s behalf, the complaint says.

The case was brought as part of DoJ’s kleptocracy asset recovery initiative.

Mr Aluko and Mr Omokore created two shell companies in the British Virgin Islands — Atlantic Energy Drilling Concepts Nigeria and Atlantic Energy Brass Development — to handle their oil contracts.

Though the companies, which prosecutors say were “unqualified”, failed to fulfil the terms of their deals, they were allowed to produce and sell more than $1.5bn worth of Nigerian crude oil. The pair then created additional shell companies to launder the proceeds through the US, prosecutors said.

Mr Aluko’s last known address was in Porza-Lugano, Switzerland, while Mr Omokore is described as a resident of Lagos.
