LifeofDream: Say wat ever you want,I know were am from,my both parents are from ogori, ogori is older than Yoruba and not of Yoruba roots. My comment about Akoko stock,is tru,I also said here, that ogori has inputs from Akoko stock, I still stand on it,especially of Akoko-edo, even many Akoko ondo lay claim to Benin and not to IFE. Many ogori do not know their origins and they assume because many have Yoruba surnames they are of Yoruba roots. |

forgiveness: No evidence of any Yoruba conquering,ogori-magongo language is neither yoruboid nor edoid, its a unique language and culture. Ogori also has a history of crossing the river Niger and staying in idomaland for close to 200 years, all these point to the fact that the ogori, had a culture and history far from Yoruba. Our history did not start 500 years ago |

forgiveness: I never said so,ogori was previously placed under kabba province by the colonialist. However,Yoruba was used to propagate Christianity in Akoko-edo,ogori zone as it was a neutral language, some sort of lingua franca like English due to the fact that the zone comprising of numerous small villages which spoke different Languages. Ogori was the first village in the whole Akoko-ondo, Akoko-edo zone to establish a primary school, the Anglican agents and the church propagated Yoruba language in the school and church. infact ogori were the ones who then preached and propagated Christianity to all that zone using Yoruba language. |

forgiveness: For Ogori though it doesn't have any history of following oramiyan though, infact the reason stated for OGORI leaving IFE was banishment due to failure to fulfil sacrifices or discontentment by a so called prince. There's no story of this prince in ile-ife, there's no story of this so called banishment in ile-ife The story is concocted |

forgiveness: You people are talking about articles, am talking as a confirmed indigene from both parents and having read authentic books, written by even a former king,he never acknowledged Yoruba, only association with Yoruba he mentioned in that book was that ogori might have some indirect connection with Yoruba, the key word is indirect. Which family did the so called akinbiyi come from in IFE?, which was his clan in IFE? etc. The online articles are gotten from a historically discredited book by Gideon eyika. It was written in 2003, so it was mostly widely available and people copied from it to post it online. The authentic history written through painstaking research by a most reverred king in ogori was written in the 60s and is not available to most people. You are just relying on online articles and basing all your arguments on copy and paste online articles |

Iamgrey5: It's a lie, majority of ogori that speak Yoruba are the older generation, from the 80s Yoruba stopped being thought in schools younger generation do not speak except they lived in yorubaland. It is discredited by indigenes in traditional discussions, however they are some articles on it,you can search online for it. You also forget that ogori was previously under kabba province right |

Politics / Re: Top 7 Largest Ethnicities In The North Central by babasolution: 11:39am On Apr 11 |
Iamgrey5: Yoruba language was used by the Anglican Church in the Akoko-edo zone, ogori and ebira. Both my folks are from ogori, they too acknowledge learning Yoruba from schools ,go to ogori today,no one born n bred there can speak Yoruba except they learn it,ask any ogori older gen person they'll tell you,no one speaks Yoruba naturally in ogori. It's not even a second language, but online it's stated that it's a second language in ogori, this is a misconception of outsiders about ogori |

Iamgrey5: You the one lieing, The older generation were taught Yoruba through the Anglican mission which established Christianity and education in ogori, their mode of communication for church activities was Yoruba. This is factual Till today, the Anglican Church in ogori conducts it's service in Yoruba. They were they agents of yorubanization in ogori and magongo Again, you are the one lieing You are insulting me for no reason You are emotive |
Politics / Re: Top 7 Largest Ethnicities In The North Central by babasolution: 11:21am On Apr 11 |
Iamgrey5: Ogori is not an hybrid of ebira and Yoruba,OGORI doesn't have any Yoruba association, as an indigene I can tell you this,no ogori person can naturally speak Yoruba unless they learn it,the older generation were taught Yoruba in schools. Ogori doesn't historically worship Yoruba gods, they have very minimal Yoruba culture, but plenty Benin related culture. Yoruba naming convention started after ogori fled to ijebu owo during the Nupe wars and also during colonial times. Ogori historically married many ebira women, this explains the ebira influence in ogori otherwise ogori has no relationship with ebira. No family in ogori can trace it's origin in any part of Yoruba land, not even their Yoruba neighbours in okun or Akoko. The ENI clan particularly recalls it's time in Benin. There are ogoloko swords in ogori thought to emerge from Benin Ogori crown is of Benin mould,it has been confirmed as recently as 1979. |

Iamgrey5: This history tale from this website is gotten from the book written by Gideon eyika called the people and culture of ogori,it has been discredited as not factual. The authentic history is the one written by the late ologori GB Akerejola( history of ogori) and the one written by Baba. Oshiedu ( historical facts on ogori) quoted here which also as some disputed facts pertaining to the formation of the language,it has been proven that ogori language is not ena,it is not a mixture but an aborigine language. The adventurous prince issue of ogori called akinbiyi as been discredited. There was no akinyibi. It is a concocted tale to legitimise ogori royalty during the colonial times.unFortunately people like this website run with it and mislead people like you. |
Politics / Re: Top 7 Largest Ethnicities In The North Central by babasolution: 10:01am On Apr 11 |
Iamgrey5: According to history books written by a late king and another prominent historian from the community, they admitted that they can't decipher the exact origins of ogori-magongo. However, history records that they were once in Benin due to some ancient swords of Benin make that ogori possesses and the ogori crown which is confirmed to be of Benin make, but ogori was probably in Benin as visitors and didn't originate from there. Some clans also recall presence in the owo,Akoko zone as passersby probably on the journey from benin before finally settling in their current location Some clans recall presence in as far as idomaland crossing the river Niger from the east end into ajaokuta and okpella axis, then to the northern Edo axis before settling in their current abode. Note: that the okpella which isn't too far from ogori have in their history that they met an aborigine group called okwo in the lands they currently are. Ogori actually call themselves okwo.so it probably might have been the same group. Some narratives also state IFE origins but it's highly disputed and as been refuted by many historians within the community. Some clans also state that they are autochonos and didn't migrate from anywere, the language highly supports this view. In summary ,ogori seems to have a very ancient history, forming from an autochonos/aborigine group and later migrants from close by mainly from Benin and the Akoko zone. Note: ogori arrived and had formed way before the ebira coming to that zone Founding members include onu, adubane, oso, and ENI,however the name ogori is a corruption of the name of an ancestor called igoli, while mangogo is the corruption of the name of another ancestor called unagogo |
