My perfect scenerio is that there would have been 100% resource control by the north, all oil sales will go to only northern states,all government owned oil agencies ,ministries and companies will be headed by only northerners with only junior staff positions occupied by people from the south,most private oil companies will be foreign owned mostly by Arabs,Lebanese and a few whites,the north elites will be ultrarich,but they will still be massive number of extreme poor northerners.The north will own a select powerful military that they will use to covet the land of the south despite their own riches,They only will rule the country continually,they will never share power with the south,and they will seek to lure or use violence to coerce the south into islam.The south will have no interest in the oil and will grind their way to a relatively middle income region,the south will defend their land ,there will be a civil war and Nigeria would have broken up since the 80s or 90s.

You need to stand on the road one day and count the huge number of trucks conveying food stuffs from Northern states to the Southern part of Nigeria.

So, Agriculture is one area I know the North has added value to Nigeria. However, Buhari should have done better to deepen the opportunities in the Agricultural sector, especially for his Northern brothers instead of chasing dry oil in the Gongola basin.

You failed to realise that the most useless region in Nigeria is the South West, and the least useless is South East.

The North is useful in agriculture. They produce majority of the agric products consumed in Nigeria. Food sufficiency is very important in an economy.

The South South is useful with Oil and Gas in high volume which is the major source of income for Nigeria.

But what can you say of the West and East?

You stylishly mentioned sea coast and cocoa to make the West relevant but forgot that the sea port there was constructed by the federation with money earned from the whole of the federation, it is not wines by South West. Cocoa is 90% extinct.

Southeast is not that completely useless like the South West. The East has high concentration of gas. Both are source of good revenue for the country.

So the most usesless region in Nigeria is South West.

I challenge anyone to mention one value of the north to Nigeria,just one value the north brings.No one should mention food,as every region is capable of producing all its food.The south provides the sea coast,oil and gas,cocoa,sesame seed(middlebelt), palm oil,entertainment, sport etc.Who can mention one value of the north to Nigeria.Why do they feel so important, if not that the southern leaders are fools.
