I have to commend the OP for this thread. It's not easy for both men and women but as a woman, fidelity in a man is a very admirable trait. I hope you inspire others whose excuse is that it cannot be done. |
it's hard to be with someone who doesn't know how to apologise but me sef i'm always saying sorry which means i'm always doing plenty bad things. to each his own. i think her husband is very mature and it works for her. equality aside for one moment, find the one you can manage like that, not subscribe to what may not work for you. if i hear someone else say SUBMISSION one more time. i might scream. we all can't be the same and that's not the worst thing in the world. |
Does it bother anyone that a lot of evangelism today is focused on personal prosperity, whether financially or healthwise. From personal experience I have seen the kindest people stricken down with illness. Even without being told we can see he works in mysterious ways. Every sunday churches are full, I choose not to join the fray, I merely observe. Why are we having all these problems in this country? What exactly are the multitudes of Nigerian christians praying for? Someone please tell me? |
Something like that. They are all pals, its the devil that tries to convince us they are enemies. The same devil that tries to convince us we should be enemies because of different beliefs that hurts no one. We can't all be the same but we are also similar. As I get older I'm begginning to appreciate the different things different religions have to offer. The Amish are known for isolating themselves and practise shunning of the ones they love yet they practice the true spirit of brotherhood, dedicate their lives to service, muslims practise polygamy which I'm completely against, the women have to cover their heads, yet they pray numerous times a day, it takes true dedication to do that, they also share meals together, feed the poor and practise abstinence for unmarried people. Now the Christians have redemption through Jesus Christ, we believe there is no sin that can not be forgiven once it is confessed, it makes us free in a way, gives us a sense of entitlement. We know when we stray we can always come back like the prodigal son, it also means we always flaunt the rules as we take them for granted. In a way we are like spoilt children but it makes us more accepting of others and their flaws. My point is there is a lot of good and bad in every religion. We should try to focus on the good and not miss out on the lessons we are meant to learn from each other. PastorOluT: So what does ur fresh gospel says? Jesus, mohamed, Buddha, etc are pals n would eventually sweep all their faithful followers to Heaven right? |
I get you. I'm certainly not trying to underestimate the importance of Jesus Christ and his teachings, I'm saying for me it sounds funny that everyone else who is not christian so doesn't believe in Jesus christ will not have a place in heaven. How do you convince a devout muslim to accept Christ, the same way no one can convince you to accept the doctrine of Mohammed. Who is right and who is wrong? No one is wrong. We all serve one God. ayoku777: You are right there. If you believe Jesus is not the ONLY way, then you might as well not believe He is the way. Such a person is practising moralism not christianity. |
So you choose to exclude me because I do not share all your beliefs. Pastor Olu right, this is one of the things I talked about. Its not an exclusive, invitation can be rescinded club. I choose to identify as christian based on my upbringing, it could have gone either way. I don't have to defend my faith to you. Neither do you have the right to say I shouldn't call myself christian. PastorOluT: Obviously u aren't a xtian, so maybe u should try found another word to qualify urself. |
Its hard to know exactly what Jesus said since whether we like it or not, it all heresay. However when we get caught up in certain details, it becomes problematic. You believe this because that is what you were taught. Nothing wrong with that but bear in mind people of other religions were taught something else. Maybe I'm open minded cos I come from a family of christians and Muslims. I have had discussions with Hare Krishna monks, these people are not aliens, they are just like you and I. You can choose to hold on to what you have been taught , I choose not to hold on to anything that says if you are not Christian you are going to hell. I choose to hold on to the positive aspects of christianity and not the negative aspect that seeks to exclude. I will always question the legitimacy of certain words of the Bible, after all it was written by men. We make it so easy for the devil to use our beliefs against us. So no, I do not believe Jesus is the only way, the only way is to love your neighbour as yourself. [quote authorgh i agree with u to some extent, u tend to move towards universalism which is unscriptural n unchristlike. Though Jesus lived n walked with the poor n everyone, he definitely made everyone know that salvation is tru Him alone n not just being nice n a good person irrespective of what u believe.
|
We are considered one of the most religious countries in the world. Its quite amusing looking at the absurdity surrounding the getting saved business. Yes, I said business cos that's exactly what it is. A very lucrative one at that. I consider myself a christian and as a christian I respect other religions. I don't care if you are Hindu or Hare krishna, and the fact that 200 years ago, I probably would have been burnt at the stake for heresy and blasphemy doesn't escape me. Religion has always been a sensitive subject and used as an excuse for many atrocities. A friend of mine recently seemed shocked when I mentioned that Christians have been known to kill people based on their lack of sufficient faith. So pointing fingers at our muslim brothers is kind of hypocritical. That aside, I can't help but notice the era of the Pastors. The self proclaimed messengers of God, the cult leaders, the gateway to false enlightenment and special access to God. I fear for my soul and the souls of my people because Our God is a jealous God. You have handed over so much power to mortals like you with no spiritual and moral authority to guide you. You have become dumb and cannot state your case directly to the one who made you. You hand over money without being charitable to the ones who need it the most. Last year, I met a personal assistant to a Pastor from Christ Embassy. They were lodged at Hilton because he came to collect Visa. You can certainly guess how much that costs because he was not even in a standard room. If I remember correctly, Jesus was not staying in the finest establishments in town. Apparently its like we decided Jesus was not ambitious enough, why else would he live so simply. Do we fully understand what it means to love and fear God? To love our neighbours? It has nothing to do with wearing your sunday best and sitting in church for hours. Are you blind to the million ways you can praise God in your everyday life without even uttering a prayer of singing a hymn? Certain facts every christian should know. 1. The very word Christian means you follow Christ and hs teachings, christlike in thoughts and actions, eager to be of assistance to your fellow man. In other words, what would Jesus do. 2. You are christian based on your location of birth and the belief system of your parents. So if you were born in India, 95 percent chance you would be serving a female deity with 3 heads or a cow. 3. There is a reson why there are different religions and its not for us to be right or fight but for us to learn from the positive aspects of different religions. 4. Remember the story of the Pharisees? A church on every corner sounds a little familiar. 5. A church on every corner is not interested in your salvation but serves as collection point for cash. 6. Your Pastor does not have a special unlisted phone number to communicate with God. 7. Christianity is not a special club for weekly meetings but a way of life. 8. Prayer and fasting will not solve all your problems. 9. Its not meant to be complicated or require deliverance as the only demon that is affecting you, is you. God has made it easy for you, complication is the most effective tool used to get you to open your wallet. 10. Open your eyes, ask questions. It is acceptable to crave deeper meaning of any doctrine. Your creator that gave you a brain requires that you use it. 11. If you fear your faith will waver when you read stuff like this post or read dissenting opinions, watch films that question the facts of the bible, then faith you do not have. I believe inn God not because the bible tells me to but because of logic. My faith never waivers no matter what I'm exposed to. So my fellow followers of Christ, what are you doing with these middle men that decided to retail salvation? Is your faith not enough to get you by. If not then it certainly isn't enough to save you? Someone just said Jesus will save you but I fear Jesus has left the church building. There are so many places where you can find him and it will cost you nothing. All you need is to show love and he will always be there. For those of you drinking the kool aid, stop wasting your money, go find something christ like to do. Imagine how many hungry children would be fed, educated and taken proper care of health wise, with the money used to purchase private jets, pay for luxurious hotels. Sowing a seed by helping those in actual need is the highest form of gratitude you can show God. Do this rather than sowing a seed in church to pay for a Pastor's lifestyle that you can't even afford. |
God bless you OP. |
Issues like these makes me want to go into politics. Who are the next generation of lawmakers? Its us. I'm not a bleeding heart and the kinds of things some People do to weild power is unpalatable to me. However we can't all just sit by and allow incompetent people make decisions that affect us on so many levels. I also agree that in a way we have been governing ourselves for a long time, still its hard to make changes when your hands are tied by those unwilling to lift a finger to do what they were elected to do in the fiirst place. Its so obvious what the problem is as far as Lagos is concerned. Its not rocket science yet these problems go unsolved. Time will tell I guess, what's gonna come out of the railway and ferry project. In the meantime, even if you are completely uninterested in doing something for your country, do it for yourself. I often wonder if its a case of Lagosians not noticing the horrid conditions or have they become masochists by embracing it. |
Visited Lagos recently after staying away for over a year. Used to live there, packed up and left when it suddenly became too noisy, chaos everywhere. A new pair of eyes and I finally see it for what it really is. One thing is for sure, Lagos is not as fast as it thinks itself to be. The residents are fast, upwordly mobile, ambition drives them in order to escape the chaos, but they don't. Chaos all around them so the buy bigger cars to navigate the unsightly side streets, bigger generators to provide electricity, poisoning the air and causing noise pollution. Expensive houses in gated estates for security reasons. Once they leave their houses, all bets are off. It is essential to be vigilant in Lagos as there are always those just waitinng to relieve innocent people of either their lives or their cash. One thing struck me, Fashola constructed quite an impressive road, bridges and toll gates. I also noticed new hotels, and so forth. I drove past this impressive restaurant on Victoria Island, right opposite was a ramshackle. Saka Tinubu is an eyesore. Suruulere has Cinema, shop rite and reconstruction of Adeniran Ogunsanya and Bode Thomas. Taking a trip to the side streets, nothing has changed. There are many things wronng with this country and Lagos is a great representation of the state of our affairs here. Window dressing being touted as progress in an over populated city. Why are there so many vehicles, it astounds me. Isn't it time they all got on a bus, a train, ferry maybe? Everyday they wake up and go through traffic everydAy. Got so used to chaos, they can't imagine any other kind of life. Some measure of success ensure you are stuck in traffic in a very comfortable car, meanwhile time is awasting. Seeing how industrious Lagosians are, imagine how much more innovative they would become if only they had more time, more electricity, if they had a good measure of safety. We always blame the government, but isn't it high time citizens took more responsibility? Why not tar the side streets leading to your home. A collective effort can go a long way. What about coporate social responsibility, shop rite is making a killing in surulere, how are they giving back to the community that is making some guys in South Africa shit loads of money. Lagos is two faced, there is not clear boundary between the rich and poor, every where you go, both classes share the same location. Maybe not in equal percentages but they co exist. So wHat happens when the poor are constantly observing wealth, they want to take a part of t by force. In Lagos, everyone is taking, very few are giving. The environment became so unbearable, some people will do anything to cope. The thing is every single person suffers some hardship that does not discriminate. I cannot begin to offer solutions, all I can say is Lagosians, look around you. Do you like what you see? Is your home a castle, do you drive the most exotic cars and your driver, maid and gateman cannot afford to send his children to school? Do you empower any young person? Do you help people in distress. Do you drive by your pot holed street in your german machine, when to make the road vehicle friendly requires simply sitting down with the neighbourhood to fix the problem. Isn't all man for himself short sghted when you do not realise it is especially in your interest to lift up those around you. Dem say Lagos no go spoil but e don spoil since, the perfume cannot mask the stench that greets visitors when they arrive. I keep asking " how can people live like this" the answer I get is that they are waiting on God, even Fashola. The government might be responsible for a good number of things but Lagosians are understimating their resourcefulness. Life is tough enough as it is without adding unnecessary inconvenience. E don spoil, na una spoil am, but na una go still fit fix am. Do what you can to contribute positively to your environment and those not as fortunate as you. |
Yup it is. I have seen first hand what bleaching can do to a woman's beauty. Another. Reason is for guys to let women know that most times, skin color is not part of the equation. Also whether we like it or not, it comes across as hatred of your own race when a woman decides to bleach her skin. Its like telling oyinbos that black Is somethng that should be hidden, put out of sight quote author=rozzay]Is dis a reason to open a thread. Haba!
|
Everyone woman has one thing they truly hate about their bodies... For me I hate my thighs, wish I was taller but I have big boobs and a pretty face but no on Whatever makes you beautiful, try to enhance it and someone will appreciate it. Its funny how some babes find it unbelievable that great skin doesn't come in a bottle or tube, I always get the " which cream are you using" remark. I'm not saying people aren't entitled to their preferences, I'm saying the mad rush for women to become lighter is ridiculous. If there is a shortage of toasters, it is not because of skin colour. If you are bleaching, IT WILL BACKFIRE, two things you should never mess with, surgically altering your face for cosmetic reasons and the second being trying to alter your natural complexion. These things most times cannot be undone. In the event they backfire, it is not something you can hide, the disastrous results will be open for all to see. Your natural skin colour is not and can never be a flaw. I can brag about my natural medium dark skin because it looks great. No ceremony involved, just a good moisturizer. Making sure I wipe off my make up as soon as I get home, spend a lot of time make up free. Included plenty of fruits and veggies as soon as I turned 30. I hardly drink water but its advisable to drink a lot of it. I spend as little time as possible in the sun. guys compliment my skin all the time. I never had any reason to believe My skin tone was somehow inferior The only skin I consider to be inferior is one which was abused and not taken proper care of. Light skinned women are wanted by many, darker skinned women are also wanted by many guys.for the women with healthy looking skin, light, medium to dark, these are the women wanted by all men. |
I understand what you mean. Growing up I have seen first hand whAt a forced pregnancy can do to a child. I was lucky enough to have a stable home with mum and dad but a lot of people I knew had to be subjected to absent fathers. I don't advise any woman to consciously bring a child into this world, knowing the child is unwanted by the father. Maybe I'm vain but my blood line is important to me, I'm not gonna create a child with just anyone. I'm a proud feminist and I'm gonna give an illustration to women.. Imagine you are dating someone, not sure he is a suitable partner, you fall pregnant, you decide you do not want to have his baby because you realise you really do not want to be tied to him for the rest of your life. He says no, he wants the baby by force, he locks you up in a room for the duration of your pregnacy until you put to bed. Try to imagine how horrifying this scenarrio could be. Truth is, there is no difference for a man having an unwanted child. You will be imprisoning him for 18 years of hard labour, taking care of a child he never wanted in the first place. In the old days, people got married, babies were protected. Now, child support protects them. This protection should never and can never go away. Reason why we have birth control to also protect the two consenting adults. Men will not be absolved of their responsibilities if they father children.it goes against nature and is therefore immoral. It cases to be about mum and dad the moment that child is born and everything that happened beforehand becomes irrelevant. Let's make sensible choices on behalf of our unborn children. Making sure the child will be loved, cherished and cared for is a good way to start. SangoCrusader: Hi @Alutacontinua. |
Its the oldest trick in the book. Some women fall pregnant to trap a man into marriage or gain financially. Society in general will look down on a man who doesn't take responsibility for his child. Personally I think having a child with someone is a big comittment and should not be taken lightly. A man is not merely a sperm donor, I find it distateful for a woman to happen to have a child for some random guy, not even sure if he will make a good dad. No man can force a child on me, neither will. I Ever force a child on a man. In this matter, I think its unfair that men do not get a choice. Once the child is born its a different matter. I'm gonna appeal to women to stop having babies that men do not want. Its selfish and manipulative and unfair to the children. Why have unprotected sex with a man if he cannot picture you as the mother of his kids. Doesn't every child deserve a father that will show them unconditional love without hesitation? OP, once a child is born, all bets are off. A man has no choice but to take responsibility, so prevention is better and should a man choose to be careless with contraception, be careless with a woman you trust and love deeply. |
And 2 becomes 1 in holy matrimony. I guess as long as half feels good and the other half feels like they've been poisoned, its not that bad. This is what you are implying. How infidelity is good for a husband's self esteem and therefore good for his wife. I'm sure there are better ways to build self esteem that will not be detrimental to the other half. mTomas: It may not be tradition but think about it, As much as men love their wives ( yes I m marrried) a little bit of excitment on the side really does improve the way we feel about our selves as a result we treat our wives better. The reason is simple. We are less irritated because we have sex more. There are seveveral good reasons why women should be more accomodating. If you want to dicuss this further visit my blogg |
Have wives stopped giving their husbands sex?so you are doing it for the wife? Taking one for the team? Interesting. Tell me more about these selfless acts you perform. Most guys do it because they can. Unfortunately its that simple and 50 percent our fault as women. What is culture? Practise over a long period of time, and at a point it becomes acceptable. If you want to get rid of this repugnant and demeaning practise, stop giving permission. Kick him out. If its not something you are comfortable with, why condone it? I'm gonna say something I'm gonna get plenty of grief for. If women were cheating on their husbands even half as much as husbands cheated on their wives. 2 things will happen. Men would no longer marry or men would stop cheating. They will tell you they can't take it emotionally and psychologically, that you can cos God has made you stronger. Its a lie. It affects us women just as bad, we just die inside slowly, unaware of the horrific scars we carry inside us. mTomas: It may not be tradition but think about it, As much as men love their wives ( yes I m marrried) a little bit of excitment on the side really does improve the way we feel about our selves as a result we treat our wives better. All nice and lovely, just have it at the back of your mind, your future wife is doing same. Just advise her not to carry belle outside. Better still. Don't forget to do DNA for your kids. dapsycool: Yes it is! Infact it's compulsory! So if i get married at age 27, i'll have to stick wiv one honeypot till forever, lets say 50 years digging one location! Mineral resources for don finish there self. God forbid! Evil thing. Just advice your man to wear condom. |
Tell them. Person go dey fear to marry now becos some guys no fit siddon one place. I take God beg my sisters, its completely unacceptable for your husband to cheat, cos every time he does it with come chick, you are playing roussian roulette. rachiwise: which type of terrible tradition be that |
Its completely understandable why you have come to this conclusion but my sister o HIV. This is an issue our grandmothers did not have to deal with. In this day and age, we cannot afford to turn a blind eye to indiscretions. Our lifes may depend on it. I'm not yet married but it will horrify you the rates at which men and women are being infected in the matrimonial homes. Its as if single people are even safer cos of fear. amacastel: Am a woman bt lemme air my view 2 be faithful n monogamy is nt in men's blood dt ar polygamous in nature d truth is dis many married women lik me cahse dia hubby out wit nagging, dirtiness, arogancy, not giving dem gud food jst d oda day 1 of ma client's complained 2 me dt his wifedont like kissng him dt his reason of keeping a girl dt kiss him like 2moro neva dy ,most succesfl men ar being seduced by women out dia.somtimes itis nt dia intention 2 cheat bt dy need our prayers I mean d women n wives 2 be on d right track.prayer is d tool 4 holdng ur man 2 monogamy cos itis not in dia blood even d white men ,black red man all ar polygamous in nature |
I'm not a huge fan of Tara, so I was relieved that she's out of the picture. I want to know your thoughts? |
I have to congratulate you. You have succeeded in convincing everyone what a real man you are. Hurling insults, trying to terrorize anyone who stands up for what they believe in. You have single handedly upheld the stereotype rational people are shedding. I almost feel bad for you because you might not know any different but I always try to take something out of every situation I find myself in. Humility is a virtue I aspire to, thank God I'm getting married to a man who it comes naturally to, he will teach me and I will love and respect him for it. Try to take something out of this thread, if not for your sake, then for the sake of the woman you eventually end up with. warrior101: Iro, philomena ni, kin se philosophies. Abunu. Wawa.. shege. If you're TDN nko, make I dey cry? |
You are right, I'm bored. Also quite new posting on nairaland. Although it was nice hearing what everyone has to say. bukatyne: As in eh! |
For the record this is TDN and I must say you make it so easy. I should go and drink acid and die? You just exhibited your violent philosophies. Why would you wish that on anyone. Seriously. warrior101: Logically it is the woman that has failed. They bore and trained all those men you claim are causing you problems. All fingers should be pointed at women. We know what you people want. You want power. You want to neutralize the order of things, but in doing so you are the ones in control because you are redistributing the rewards (equal rights scam). We shall see where it will end. |
Still confusing. bettermike: Hey hey hey slow down sweetie. Did i ever mention alternate universe any time past? Know what, i'll rephrase: They think those not free are ONLY those imprisoned. Gerrit now?Do you guys watch walking dead? |
Ok guys, its been fun. Let's rendevouz on another thread. Let us know which. Peace and love no matter your convictions. babe1/2: |
bettermike: Dont mind these ill-informed girls proudly spitting junk. They dont know that the concept 'true freedom' is a myth. There is no such thing. They think those not free are those imprisoned. Rubbish. I wont explain jack to those low minds."They think those not free are those imprisoned. Rubbish" I'm a bit confused here, if those not free aren't imprisoned, are you suggesting freedom is for those already free. In which alternate universe? |
I'm glad you brought this up. Devil tempted eve and eve gave adam apple to eat when he should have known better. He was meant to be wiser cos he got there first. Everyone can interprete it as they want but as far as I'm concerned, the sepent went to eve first cos na eve get mind pass. Anyways let's not delve into religion, cos its obvious everything went according to plan in that whole scenario. bettermike: Its no suprise that the devil used the woman (eve) to poison the world. Except for few, their brains are so easy to deceive. |
And I'm proudly one of those women who will choose this operation as is my right. Na me give Adam apple chop? What is your own inside? Why do you care? How does it affect you if a woman chooses that over natural birth. Why does it make her less of a woman to you. Seriously which one of you reported me, cos I couldn't post anymore. Whoever did, not cool bro. bettermike: Is this one saying she's not aware that some women intentional do CS to retain their tight womanliness? |
Thanks for the letter. Sorry I was gone for a while. Couldn't post, don't know why but I'm sure a man is the cause. Lol. In case you don't hear from me again. If you think of the most devastating events in the world it was caused by men. Women are non violent by nature. We don't want to fight you but we don't have a choice. You made us this way. If you don't like it when we are angry, then don't make us angry. warrior101: This is a letter to TDN and all Feminist |
I'm very inspired there are more and more guys out there who learn useful things in this life. Its funny cos the best chefs today are men. Another thing guys don't realise is this. What happens when your wife travels or God forbid she gets taken before her time. What happens to the children when you can't maintain a home. Do you ship them off to relatives? Or do you quickly marry another wife cos you have no clue how to take care of your own kids yourself. A friend of mine lost his mother when he was like 4 years old. They were 2 kids and he told me how his dad took care of them for over 6 years before he finally remarried. So nice one, more grease to your elbow. Knowledge is power. PocketEconomist: That's a wonderful man. One thing i regret is that i didn't learn how to cook at young age. Ny grand mother believes that cooking is for women alone. That men are not supposed to cook at all. I'm currently learning, my culinary skills are still a bit atrocious, as if you eat my food, i can't guarantee your safety |
You are right. TRUE FREEDOM is a myth. Ther's no such thing. Only FREEDOM, which can never be inflated or diminshed. Its either freedom exists or it doesn't. So from where I'm standing you seem to view us womenfolk as living in bondage. Deeply disturbing. bettermike: Dont mind these ill-informed girls proudly spitting junk. They dont know that the concept 'true freedom' is a myth. There is no such thing. They think those not free are those imprisoned. Rubbish. I wont explain jack to those low minds. |
