Politics / Jubilation As Non-igbos In Enugu Endorse Ugwuanyi For Second Term by Babygiwa(f): 5:32pm On Oct 10, 2018
Visibly excited non-Igbo residents in Enugu State, representing different ethnic communities of diverse socio-cultural, political and religious background across the country, under the auspices of United Inter-Community Forum, on Wednesday, converged on the Government House, Enugu, in their large numbers and unanimously endorsed Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for a second term in office.

The jubilant non-indigenes, who disclosed that the forum’s prime objective was to foster unity in diversity to promote good governance through leadership integrity and commitment to excellence, stated that the decision was because of the governor’s “selfless, resounding, impeccable, excellent and outstanding leadership qualities”, which they said have engendered peace and good governance in the state. They added that Gov. Ugwuanyi has maintained a “high degree of disciplined leadership integrity” that promotes peaceful co-existence and national unity.

Noting that “this is the first time in history, United Inter-Community Forum was coming out publicly to support a serving governor”, the forum, which announced Gov. Ugwuanyi as its grand patron, disclosed that his administration has made frantic efforts in securing lives and property of the people of the state“ as well as the various communities resident in Enugu State”.

Presenting their heartfelt stance, the President General of the forum, Comrade Andrew Tyonongo, said they were highly impressed that Enugu is being rated as one of the most peaceful and secure states in the country, adding that the governor’s introduction and equipping of Enugu State Security/ Neighbourhood Watch groups, in collaboration with the security agencies, have gone a long way to ameliorate extreme security challenges in the state.

On education, the group expressed delight at the governor’s “excellent commitment, dedication and efforts in the area” through his “pragmatic policy of massive mobilization, renovation and rehabilitation of public primary, secondary and tertiary schools across the state, making them convenient, safe and friendly for learning”.

They told the governor that his “innovations in this sector particularly, have brought life into public educational system in Enugu State, consequently redeeming and regaining its pride of place in the educational system”.

The forum also commended Gov. Ugwuanyi for his administration’s special attention in the provision of basic infrastructure, especially in the rural areas, pointing out that the policy framework of the “one community, one project programme with multi-million naira mobilization” has made all the communities in the state chief drivers of infrastructural developments based on their priorities.

The non-igbo residents maintained that their endorsement of the governor’s re-election was also based on his commitment to the welfare of the state’s workers, particularly the regular payment of their salaries and retirees’ pensions.

They further stated that Ugwuanyi is “the only governor who pays workers the 13thmonth salary”, disclosing that “Enugu State workers are happy and proud of you because salaries and pensions are paid when due”.

The body equally applauded Gov. Ugwuanyi for the various empowerment schemes of his administration aimed at alleviating the sufferings of the masses, especially the traders, youths and underprivileged, revealing that through his human resource development and capacity building initiatives, 2000 youths were gainfully employed to clean up the state.

“Your Excellency, conscious of your broad-minded stewardship and leadership capacities as clearly acknowledged above and many too numerous to mention because of constraint of time, the entire body of United Inter-Community Forum, Enugu State Chapter, is here to give her support to you and also to advocate, mobilize, consult and intensify campaigns for your continuity as the best option in the forthcoming gubernatorial election come 2019.

“This forum is very much aware of your esteemed love and respect for traditional and religious institutions, as well as your constant intervention and advocacy for peaceful co-existence among communities in the state”, they further stated.

Responding, Gov. Ugwuanyi, who welcomed members of the forum to the Government House, thanked them for their solidarity, goodwill, support, and the endorsement, noting that the honour shows that the efforts of his administration to improve the living standard of the people are being appreciated.

He therefore, reassured them of his administration’s commitment to the wellbeing of every resident of the state, irrespective of state of origin, religion or ethnicity.

Politics / 2019: The Peoples’ Valid Trust In Ugwuanyi by Babygiwa(f): 9:19am On Oct 10, 2018
In what could be described as a revalidation of their earlier endorsement of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State for a second term in office, the state’s workers and youths had while felicitating with the governor on Nigeria’s 58th Independence Anniversary, reiterated their firm support for his re-election, declaring that they were solidly behind him.

The enthusiastic workers and youths, who spoke separately through the state chairmen of Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) and National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Comrade Igbokwe Chukwuma Igbokwe and Comrade Paschal Ugwu, respectively, said the decision was based on their conviction that the governor has continued to entrench good governance, cater to their welfare and promote peaceful co-existence and national unity among residents of the state and beyond.

They described Gov. Ugwuanyi as a God-fearing, peace-loving, visionary, hardworking, unassuming, pragmatic and high-performing leader, whose style of governance is uncommon and remarkable in the annals of the state.

While labour applauded the governor’s giant developmental strides and his prompt payment of salaries on the 23rd of every month, “whether it falls on a Saturday or Sunday”, the youth stated that “our youth-friendly governor has actually delivered on his promises to the youth in particular and the people of the state in general”.

Reaffirming their valid trust in Gov. Ugwuanyi, the future leaders largely made up of students, reiterated that “with our 60% voting strength of the youth out of the number of eligible voters in Enugu State, we firmly re-assure you that your re-election is 100% guaranteed by God’s grace”.
They added that “youths in Enugu State are celebrating good governance and the peaceful atmosphere in the state, made possible through His Excellency’s sound vision and humble disposition”.
On the part of the workers, they maintained that Ugwuanyi “is a governor who has made workers’ welfare his first priority”, disclosing that “he paid June and July salaries even when FAAC did not sit for two months”, which they noted “is not obtainable anywhere”.
According to them, “we are supporting his second term bid, and every other endeavor beyond his 2nd term, we will always stand by him. We have never had it so good before. For the first time we are having a governor who has a listening ear. He has compassion for workers and carries labour along in taking decisions that affect them.
“So, we are delighted to say that in the three and half years of Ugwuanyi’s administration, the labour has fared very, very well in Enugu State. The workers are happy”.

It is therefore, noteworthy that the reassurance from the workers and youths, which came on the eve of the colourful and hitch-free governorship primary election of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State, was a morale booster to Gov. Ugwuanyi, whose emergence as the party’s flag bearer made history, being the first governor of the state to contest in the gubernatorial primary election of a political party as a sole aspirant.

The outcome of the primary election was a revalidation of the earlier endorsements by every organ of the party in the state, which consequently culminated in the gale of endorsements from virtually all spheres of the society, including leaders of religious and traditional institutions as well as opposition political parties.
The overwhelming support accorded the governor by his party men and women during the primaries, was also a confirmation of the confidence they repose in him as a great achiever who has made peace, good governance and participatory democracy the hallmark of his administration.
One remarkable aspect of the just concluded PDP primaries in Enugu State is that this was the first time the people (party members) were allowed to elect those who will fly the party’s flags in all the elective positions at the general election. Kudos must therefore go to Gov. Ugwuanyi for deepening the tentacles of internal democracy in the party.
Prior to the said primary election, the ward chairmen of the PDP from Enugu West Senatorial Zone, during their solidarity visit to the governor at the Government House to reaffirm their support for his re-election, applauded him for entrenching participatory democracy in the state. They said that the governor’s leadership style has rejuvenated the party’s organs at the grassroots, according them their rightful place in the scheme of things as “proud ward leaders”.
They therefore aligned themselves with the eight years rotational agreement among the three senatorial districts of the state for the office of the governor, stressing that all hands must be on deck to ensure that the governor completes the remaining four-year tenure of the Enugu North Senatorial Zone for the position to rotate to the next zone.

Addressing delegates at the primaries, Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, expressed delight that it was the first time in the past 21 years of his active participation in politics, that the PDP would be having a sole aspirant as well as a non-contentious governorship primary election.
He therefore commended Gov. Ugwuanyi for holding the forte for the party and state, saying: "Today we have not only a governor who has performed very well, he has also entrenched peace in Enugu State".
Declaring Gov. Ugwuanyi as the party's governorship candidate after polling 2,782 valid votes out of total votes cast of 2,859, by the delegates, the Chairman of the 5-man State Electoral Committee that conducted the primaries, Senator Ambuno Zik, commended the peaceful atmosphere in the state, describing the governor as “a humble, indefatigable and amiable” leader, who is so much loved by his people.
His words: “I have to say from my heart that this great man is humble, this great man is indefatigable, and this great man is amiable. Talking about humility, honestly he is somebody who is humble and if you meet him, you meet humility. He has the fear of God and let him continue in that path.
“Talking about being indefatigable, this man is an achiever. I never knew he was a silent achiever until I came to Enugu. They say action speaks louder than voice. He is developing every part of the state and that is why I said he is indefatigable.

“Talking about being amiable, this very man is a magnet when you come near him. He is like a magnet attracting people and you cannot help but like him. That is why I say he is amiable. You have a great governor. From what I saw, I have no doubt in my mind that he is going to achieve more in his next 4 years. His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Gburugburu) your people like you”.
From the foregoing, it is an indisputable fact that Gov. Ugwuanyi is the most cherished and celebrated governor of Enugu State. He has maintained a close relationship with the people, both the lowly and the highly placed, ensuring that they are constantly rewarded with good governance as the true heroes of democracy.
This milestone ideology is in keeping with his vision to “deploy government services to create fair and equal opportunity for every willing citizen to make a living and create wealth, educate our children, and enjoy life in a peaceful and secure environment”.
It is also targeted at alleviating the suffering of the masses, especially in the rural areas, where the majority of the people live, to ensure that long neglected communities are remembered accordingly.
Consequently, Gov. Ugwuanyi despite the nation’s economic challenges and the state’s lean resources, has left his footprints in the sands of hitherto neglected communities, such as Amurri, Ngenevu, Iva Valley, Ogbaku, Eha Amufu, Abakpa Nike, Emene, Nsukka, and Ngwo (Milliken Hill), among others, to the amazement of the dwellers, through his administration’s time-honoured grassroots development interventions.

His numerous landmark achievements and sterling performance across the three senatorial districts depict his strength of leadership and rewarding experience towards improving the living standard of the people, in line with his social contract with them.
On economic indices, the governor has taken innovative and far reaching measures that have strategically engendered sustainable growth in the state’s resources for continuous provision of the development needs of the people, in a prudent and transparent manner.

As a pacesetter, his administration’s initiation of a monthly, cherished N50,000 empowerment scheme for genuine traders in the state irrespective of state of origin, religion or ethnicity, won through open lottery across the 54 designated markets, has profusely brought great fortunes to their various businesses – a feat which other governments in the country have continued to emulate.

The peoples’ governor also deserves commendations for the ‘one community one project’ programme , which earmarked N10 million each for the 458 autonomous communities in the state to enable them execute priority projects of their choice, among other sundry interventions aimed at empowering the people, especially the women, youths and the underprivileged, to improve their living standard.

A few days ago, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, while in Enugu for the state’s edition of the National Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Clinic, commended Gov. Ugwuanyi for his administration’s unceasing cooperation with the federal government in the advancement of the set objectives of the empowerment programme in the state and beyond.

Prof Osinbajo, who said he was “extremely delighted” with the “kindness and warm reception” the state government has always accorded him whenever he visited Enugu State, also applauded the governor for “the very great steps” his administration has taken in the growth and development of the MSME programme.
The Vice President added that Gov. Ugwuanyi’s administration “is doing very well for the MSME” and in advancing the interest of small entrepreneurs, stressing that “the governor deserves a warm applause for the great works he has been doing”.
The above narrative - the tip of the iceberg of Gov. Ugwunayi’s remarkable achievements - gave rise to the wide range of endorsements for the governor’s re-election as well as the peoples’ valid trust in him to continue to lead the state to greatness beyond 2019.

It is therefore expected of the people of Enugu State to continue to encourage and support the visionary leadership in the state for them to enjoy more democracy dividends in a peaceful and secure atmosphere as “the true heroes of democracy”

Enugu State is truly in the hands of God!

sad

Sahara Reporters, an Online news Agency, has been caught in yet another lie. The US based news agency had reported that there were no sightings of Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki’s campaign posters at the venue of the People's Democratic Party's convention (PDP) holding on Saturday 6th October, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Twitter users immediately called them out on their lie by posting pictures of several Saraki campaign posters. They went ahead to include mobile-led trucks that had been sighted around the city of Port Harcourt blaring Saraki’s campaign songs.

This occurrence has left the public wondering why a supposedly credible news source would become so subjective to the extent of giving out false reports.

Recall that Dr. Bukola Saraki in no distant past, won a libel case against the publisher of the popular online news medium.

... Appeals for caution, patience from motorists

The Enugu State Government has appealed further to motorists to exercise patience and caution while driving, following the on going repairs of potholes in urban and intercity roads in the state.

A statement by the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Greg Nnaji, explained that the Ministry has for the past four weeks commenced aggressive maintenance of roads in the state, which has resulted to cutting and removal of failed sections, and subsequent stabilization with soil cement treated base/stone base materials before the final stage of priming and pavement with hot rolled asphalt.

Engr. Nnaji added that once the cutting of identified potholes is done, it would take about three days for the entire process to be completed for the desired result to be achieved.

Politics / APC NWC Panel Declares Abiodun Winner Of Ogun Governorship Primaries by Babygiwa(f): 5:37am On Oct 04, 2018
The Muhammad Ndabawa-led electoral committee sent to Ogun State by the National Working Committee(NWC) of the All Progressives Congress(APC) on Wednesday evening declared Prince Dapo Abiodun winner of the Direct governorship primary of Ogun APC for the 2019 gubernatorial election.

Declaring the result of the governorship primary election conducted on Wednesday throughout the 236 wards across the 20 Local Governments Area of Ogun State, the Chairman of the Committee, Muhammad Ndabawa, said Prince Abiodun polled 102, 305 votes to emerge winner.
Ndabawa added that other contestants – Jimi Lawal scored 51, 153 votes while Abimbola Ashiru polled 29, 764 votes.

Other contestants, Senator Gbenga Kaka got 17,771 votes and Abayomi Hunye 9,110 votes while Adekunle Akinlade scored 23, 443 votes

The electoral chairman for the state however noted that the declaration of Prince Dapo Abiodun winner of the primary and governorship candidate of APC in Ogun state for 2019 governorship election, is “subject to ratification by the National Working Committee” of the party.

Fielding questions from reporters regarding the primary earlier conducted by Committees set up by the Ogun state APC and subsequent declaration of Abdukabir Adekunle Akinlade winner and gubernatorial candidate by the state Chairman, Chief Derin Adebiyi, Ndabawa said he was ” not aware of such primary.”

He added that the Committee he led, is the “authentic body constituted by the NWC” to conduct and supervise governorship primary in the state in line with the party guidelines and constitution.

The announcement of Abiodun, an oil magnate and real estate operator from Iperu town in Ogun East Senatorial district of the state, came barely six hours after Akinlade was also declared winner in a primary conducted on Tuesday, allegedly, without the Committee from Abuja playing a part in it.

The state chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Chief Derin Adebiyi, had on Wednesday afternoon declared Governor Ibikunle Amosun’s man, Hon. Abdulkabir Adekunle Akinlade, as the winner of the purported governorship primary, allegedly, conducted by the governor’s caucus of the party.

Adekunle Akinlade, current member of House of Representatives (Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency, polled 190,987 votes to emerge winner in the controversial direct primary conducted on Tuesday.

Other contestants – Jimi Lawal came in a distant second position with 5,046 votes while Dapo Abiodun garnered 3,648 votes followed by Abimbola Ashiru with 898 votes, Senator Gbenga Kaka with 833 votes and Abayomi Hunye with 208 votes.

Declaring Akinlade the winner on Wednesday at the APC State Secretariat on Abiola Way, Abeokuta, Adebiyi said Akinlade polled the highest number of valid votes in the primaries.

The state party chairman added that the primary was conducted throughout the 236 wards in Ogun by Local Government and ward election committees constituted by the state chapter of the party “in compliance with the constitution of our party and the guidelines released by the National Working Committee (NWC) All Progressives Congress.”

Adebiyi told reporters that he elected to announce the result and declared the winner instead of leaving it to be done by the Muhammad Ndabawa-led electoral committee, saying the committee was heavily compromised.

Adebiyi said: “the Committee was here and they were emphatic, after cancelling the exercise twice, the the election would hold yesterday, this is after we’ve submitted names of local committee and venues in obedience to the guideline.

“Yesterday morning, they still agreed that the primary would hold and we mobilised to our different wards but we waited endlessly as the phone numbers or committee members were switched off and electoral materials not available.

“Up till now, we don’t know the whereabouts of the committee and we’ve not seen them at the party’s Secretariat. They’ve been heavily and highly compromised.

“The guideline is straight and unambiguous, its open secret ballot which is option A4 but they said they brought ballot papers from Abuja, in a direct primary? To do what?”
The party chairman noted that the Election Committee from the National headquarters of the party in Abuja directed that the governorship primaries should be held on 2nd October 2018 which prompted the closure of all primary and secondary schools by the state government for the exercise.

According to him, “the governorship primaries were conducted and monitored by the relevant agencies.”

Aside speculation that the NWC members received money from the governor and that Osinbajo had been rewarded with expanse of land to favor Ambode, the members of the party claimed that the two governors were the back bone of the incumbent and that their plans were to manipulate the process.

A reliable source from the state chapter of the APC confirmed to The Guild that the working committee who arrived Lagos yesterday as delegation to observe direct primaries on Tuesday, visited Ambode and that they were gifted money but that he could not confirmed the amount.

He disclosed that a coasted buss conveyed the money to the party’s secretariat and thereafter moved to unknown destination where members of the committee could disburse the fund.

He hinted that argument ensued between the state party chairman and the member of the committee on mode of the primary election a day ahead of the exercise.

The source specifically stated that the committee had plan before arriving Lagos and that they had taking instructions from Oshiomole, who may had directed the delegation to rig the election in favor of Ambode.

Meanwhile, a broadcast message received through a social media platformed, indicted VP, NWC members and Oshiomole to be working for Ambode against will of Lagos chapter of APC members and that they had all received material values in return.

Another source who pleaded not to be mentioned disclosed that he was aware of Osinbajo landed gift received from Ambode and the VP cannot deny not had gotten such gift from the embattled governor.

He expressed surprise on the action of the VP and that his move against Tinubu could end their relationship, just has Ambode had reigned that of his own.

When the Guild put call through to office of the VP for clarity on the allegation, a close associate who works in the office disassociated Osinbajo from such conduct and that his boss could never be party to a system that would cause damage on democracy of the nation.

He noted that the linking of the VP to the bribery allegation was an attempt to bring down Osinbajo after successful three years in government.

“Those who plan the landed gift allegation against my boss were only doing that to bring him down and their aim is to destroy relationship between him and Tinubu”.

The Whats-App Message: Earlier today, we got reports that the National Working Committee (NWC) established by the APC national body to oversee and supervise the Primaries process in Lagos State visted GOV. AKINWUNMI AMBODE at the state house and they were enriched with the sum of 50 MILLION NAIRA.
That’s a body that ought to work discreetly independent.

Lagos APC links Osinbajo, Oshiomole, others to Ambode’s landed property, N50M bribery

By NewsDesk,

A faction of Lagos chapter of All Progressive Congress (APC) has alleged that Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, National Chairman, APC, Adams Oshiomole, members of National Working Committee (NWC) and host of others hands were not clean in their interventions to have crisis rocking the state APC after incumbent Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, second term projection was rejected by the leaders and members of the party.

The listed people were also accused of been induced with expanse of land and N50 million in order to ensure Ambode have the party’s ticket during the state governorship direct primary election which would be holding on Tuesday.

That’s a body that ought to work discreetly independent.

As we all know, the primaries was shifted again today due to inadequate preparation and to make sure party membership cards are properly distributed across the state to members of the party.

Now the Question is: That Money they received today was for what?

As we said earlier, it’s a body that has been furnished with the needful and expected to work not in favor of any candidates
, their entitlements are to come from the Party National body.

But instead, the members of the committee have received what they are not entitled to from one of the aspirants. Now how do we get a free and fair election?

The Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has lobbied for the return ticket for Ambode but the state stakeholders have refused and decided to let a primary decide the fate of the candidate.

In addition, we also heard that the Party’s National chairman, Adams Oshiomole, alongside Governor of Ogun state, Ibikunle Amosun, and the newly elected Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, are the brains behind the planned manipulation and they are trying to make things go in favor of Ambode.

The fallacy of power of incumbency is what they are trying to showcase, and the will of people must definitely prevail as the ideology of democracy unfolds.

It’s quite unfortunate or most preferably sardonic that the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, straight fact, was not doing this in vain.

The VP received expanse of land at Eti Osa local government of Lagos state.

Also some factions of the party are really going to the extreme to make things work in their favor, forgetting the fact that the will of the party has to be represented and protected by all members.

We really hope that the electioneering process of tomorrow wouldn’t end in peril.

Politics / BREAKING NEWS: Imohimi Edgal To Step Down As Lagos’ CP by Babygiwa(f): 5:04am On Oct 02, 2018
lipsrsealed

A quick intervention on state of security in Lagos has been applied by Nigerian Police Force, which was confirmed to had issued a confidential directive, asking Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Imohimi Edgal, to step down from his current officer with immediate effect, while his area commander take charge of affairs of the command, under supervision of Assistance Inspector General of Police, overseeing Zone 2.

The step down directive, though not yet in public, must have connection with All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship primary election which is about take place on Tuesday after it was shifted three times consecutively on no explained reasons.

It would recalled that The Guild reported on Sunday that Edgal’s transfer was on the way and that the rational behind the action would definitely be as result of no confidence expression by the party members, against the CP.

However, a source from the police headquarter who spoke to The Guild through phone disclosed that the CP had been informed to step down as Lagos commissioner of police and that the decision must have been as a result of several reports indicting Edgal.

He added that the directive had also been forward to group of senior officer in the police but that the CP destination was not yet known.

The source hinted that Edgal may have to report to Abuja first for instruction before resuming else where but that the CP too did not know yet know his faith on the development.

Besides, a senior police officer who confided in The Guild stated that the CP’s transfer was expected since APC primaries was due and Edgal has relationship with the state incumbent Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, whose second term agenda was rejected.

More detail soon…

Politics / Speaker Taraba Assembly, Imposes In-law In Gashaka, Kurmi & Sarduana Reps Race by Babygiwa(f): 10:05pm On Oct 01, 2018
People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Taraba State is engulfed in a fresh crisis of electoral injustice, manipulation, bribery and forgery according to documents obtained by journalists involving the Gashaka, Kurmi and Sardauna Federal Constiuency Unit of Taraba State.

Investigations reveal an executive recklessness and manipulation orchestrated by the Speaker, Taraba State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abel Peter Diah, seconded by the PDP national Chairman, Prince Uche Seconds, and supported by The Governor of Taraba State, Arc. Darius Ishaku.

The speaker is leading a hydra-headed electoral-junta to superintend the people’s will ahead of the primary elections in the state by imposing his In-Law ( the brother of the Speaker’s Wife), David Fouh on PDP members in the state with wanton intimidation, threats to life, witch-hunting, and political brigandage on other the aspirants.

The National Assembly Screening Committee in Taraba State, Headed by Barr. Yakubu Abdullahi and Barr. Edwin Agbu as Secretary, with three others as members, had on the 20th of September 2018 at the State party Secretariat indicted the imposed aspirant Mr. David Fouh. From the document available to us, the panel stated this “Again, only one aspirant was disqualified to contest in the Party’s Federal House of Representatives’ Primary Election. The name of the aspirant is David Abel Fuoh. He was disqualified because the Screening Panel was not satisfied with the genuineness of his letter of resignation presented during the screening."

Mr. Fouh, before joining the House of Reps race was the Bursar of The Taraba State Polytechnic which he is accused of not resigning properly alongside other unclear concerns surrounding his credentials before vying for a political office as a civil servant, an offense that contravenes the Clause 6 of the Party’s Brief of the Screening Panel, which makes it mandatory for anyone who has resigned from their civil service jobs or political appointment to tender an evidence to that effect. Fuoh was said to have been grilled for hours without being able to provide the necessary evidence, which led to his disqualification from the exercise. A similar offence affected one of the aspirants for the Senatorial aspect of the screening, Mrs. Lios Emmanuel who is alleging intimidation and victimization because The Speaker along with the Governor in connivance with the PDP Chairman has gone ahead to clear Fuoh to contest in the race against the report of the Yakubu Panel.

However, grounds for “Appeal” were also constituted with a Committee headed by Hon. Bagudu Joseph as Chairman, Marcus Sarah, as Secretary and Kurda Ibrahim as Member. The committee submitted her report on the 22nd of September 2018 indicating that NO APPEAL whatsoever was brought before the panel for consideration as contained in the document attached.

Forensic inspection also shows that the final report submitted to Wadata Plaza was doctored to favour Fuoh with a monetary inducement to the tune of N20,000, 000 given as bribe according to sources at Wadata Plaza to alter the signatures of the Taraba Screening Committee before final submission to the PDP National Headquarters, Abuja.

The first document of the Screening Committee which was completed and released on the 20th of September shows that Mr. Fuoh was indicted by the panel for his inability to provide necessary clearance of his resignation as Bursar which led to his subsequent disqualification from the reps race.

The second report was submitted by the Screening APPEAL Committee on the 22nd of September 2018, which shows that NONE of the aspirants disqualified, approached the panel for redress or clarification.

The final report submitted to Wadata Plaza on the 23rd of September leaked to this news platform shows that Mr. Fuoh's indictment and disqualification has been removed from the final report, with signatures of the Chairman of the Taraba National Assembly Committee, Barr. Yakubu Abdullahi, forged, along with other members of the committee.

The glaring paper-sleaze indicted only the Senatorial Aspirant, Mrs. Lios Emmanuel who committed a similar offence with David Fuoh who has been fraudulently maneuvered into the Reps race.
Careful inspection of the document available to us shows that the final document contains several irregularities that includes forged signatures which is an offense in Nigeria, liable to jail term. At the 4th page of the 5 page document which the major sleaze took place, the page-margin of the document was out of alignment. It is however now contained in the final report that, “No aspirant was disqualified to contest in the party’s Federal House of Representatives Primary Election”, with sources point accusing fingers at the Speaker of Taraba State House of Assembly who is rigging the husband of his sister into power through the backdoor.

This act has led to tension in the Gashaka, Gurmi and Sardauna Federal Constituency unit with other aspirants threatening court action and mass-exodus from the party if Mr. Fuoh does not remain disqualified.

Further investigation across the communities of the constituency shows that the high-handedness of the Speaker would be upsetting the age long rotation agreement between the three local governments of the constituencies which rotates power amongst itself to maintain harmony.

It is also on record that the incompetence of Fuoh has been a home-story of the people ever since he managed a Micro Finance Bank, the Gembu Community Bank, which was mismanaged, looted and liquidated within 7 months with Fuoh at the helms of management.

Sources within the community also claim he disappeared with savings of his community only to re-emerge years later as Bursar of Federal Polytechnic Taraba.

Politics / Exclusive: Lagos Cp’s Transfer In Transit, APC Working On Exit by Babygiwa(f): 3:28pm On Sep 30, 2018
Body language of most members of Lagos State chapter of All Progressive Congress (APC), before and after a stakeholders meeting at the party’s secretariat yesterday, showed that they were not satisfied over weak level of security and how lives of hundreds of people were exposed to danger during the gathering.

From the moment date of the party’s primary election was made known publicly, members of the APC had continue raising concerns and drawing attention of their leaders to relationship between the state’s incumbent Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode and Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, and how the latter could manipulate and influence security process in favor of the governor, after leaders of the party turned their backs at his second term moves.

The claims were that the if the incumbent governor would not be getting favored on his second term request, his school mate, who is a CP in Lagos, would not deny him of assistance at expense of the party and members of the public.

Of that grounds were their raised concerns that the state was not in safe hand and that Edgal would cause unrecoverable damage if he is not transfer before state the APC’s governorship primaries.

On that insinuation, bulk of calls between the leaders over the night, after the tensed stakeholders’ meeting, centered on the need for immediate transfer or swapping of the CP, on ground of allegation that the Edgal had compromise and that he should no longer be trusted with security of the state.

Undoubtedly, crisis has continue rocking the state chapter of APC over who becomes flag bearer of the party, the fight of which is between Ambode and leaders’ anointed candidate, Babajide Sanwo-olu, in governorship race, ahead of pronounced direct primary slated 1st of October, the process of which was twice shifted due to undisclosed reasons.

Continuous pressure over the matter was said to had forced the party’s National Leader, Bola Tinubu, to reached out to right quarter at the presidency, on need to have the CP transferred from the state within 24 hours and that Edgal could exist Lagos before the primary election on Monday.

An insider who put call through to The Guild confided in us that Tinubu was aware of how the CP has been frustrating the security system to favor his friend (Ambode) and the state police head’s transfer signal could possibly arrive before Monday.

He disclosed that after the stakeholder meeting yesterday, leaders of the party expressed various displeasure during phone conversations with the national leader, particularly on weak level of security witnessed at the APC’s secretariat.

The source hinted that the CP’s transfer was certain and that signal to that effect was already in transit, while military intervention may also be sought to put away unknown faces of thugs seen during the party’s stakeholders’ meeting.

Outside the national leader’s resident, members of the party, who pleaded not to be mentioned, due to sensitivity of the issue, established that the CP was not yet qualified to head the state’s command but that Ambode ensured he got him the seat, six months away from qualification.

One of them, a leader from Ikeja, lamented that on how the party should not had allowed Edgal to still remain in control of the state’s security when it was aware of implication of such action.

His argument was that the CP has love for money and that Edgal could compromise system to have his way, claiming that the weak security control, witnessed during the meeting in the state, was an evidence to the allegation.

According to the leader, members of the party have been phoning Tinubu on the matter and there is certainty that the CP would be leaving the state anytime soon.

Meanwhile, a source from office of Chairman, Lagos state chapter of APC, Tunde Balogun, stated that the party was not satisfied, particularly the chairman, over level of security witnessed yesterday and that unknown faces and thugs were allowed to take over the party’s secretariat due to inadequate level of police presence.

He claimed that members of the party were of strong conviction that the action of police commissioner was deliberate and that APC do no longer feel safe since Edgal has take side with Ambode, who is his school mate.

He explained that APC’s would be conducting governorship primary in the state on Monday but that members, who would be coming out to exercise their franchise do not feel safe, having witnessed yesterday poor level of security.

“The position of every member of the party are that APC must avoid anything that would lead to bloodshed and with the CP, no one knows what the police command is up to.

“Information reaching the party was that Edgal, Commissioner for Information, Kehinde Bamigbetan and Special Adviser on Community and Communication Affairs to the governor, Hakeem Sulaiman, were at a closed door meeting last night and the members do not know what the plans were”.

“The Party would not allow the police put the state under chaos or in bad light since the security agent job is to protect lives and property”, he added.

From Police Headquarters in Abuja, our source discreetly told us that report on Edgal had reached office of Inspector General of Police and that he was sure the CP would be moved out of the state.

Prior this exclusive, the CP had assured that he would ensure provision of adequate security during the primary election of the party.

Edgal also warned officers under his authority to stay away from partisan, the assurance of which was made after The Guild publication in which Edgal was indicted of possible comprise of security system, while he was stylishly called to order by members of the APC, who perceived that the police boss could dance to Ambode’s request, even when he does not place any.

However, The Guild cannot confirm the authenticity of a report going viral across social media platforms that Ambode would be holding a press conference at Lagos state house by noon, and the subject of the gathering is yet to be defined.

Politics / Makarfi Remains Most Viable Option For The Opposition - Group by Babygiwa(f): 8:01pm On Sep 29, 2018
Makarfi remains most viable option for the Opposition - Group

As the battle for the presidential ticket of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) enters a crucial stage, a political pressure group, Stand for Nigeria (SFN), has urged PDP delegates to elect Ahmed Makarfi as the most viable option to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

SFN in a statement by its coordinator, Chuka Abraham, believes that "Makarfi has the political gravitas, acumen, and carries the political mien that is endearing, appealing and will be invaluable in selling the candidature of a viable opposition ticket to Nigeria."

"How Makarfi was able to navigate the PDP out of troubled waters and repositioned the party to challenge for powers, from a party that was pronounced as dead and no-more-consequential, will remain a true and worthy test of leadership.

"Leadership is everything in solving problems and Makarfi has demonstrated profound leadership; the PDP delegates, leaders and party members are invited to do a serious soul-searching and have a deep rethink about their choice of Presidential candidate.

"It is on record that when those who are currently gallivanting the country as front-liners in the battle for the PDP ticket, where in the ruling APC, doing everything to undermine the PDP, Makarfi was working day and night to reposition the party.

"Assuming President Muhammadu Buhari is not seeking a second term of office, these desperate characters, who are seen to be running the show now, would have remained in the APC, plotting the downfall of the PDP.

"The PDP is therefore reminded, that posterity will be kind to the party and members, if it could rise above emergency courting and cosmetic appeal for votes from those who in 2014 ditched the party in hours of need and embrace the APC.

"We do not need to sell the candidacy of Makarfi to PDP delegates: he is a liberal and cosmopolitan politician whose antecedents as a nationalist and patriot, loom very large, and he will bring all this to bare in the governance of Nigeria," the statement added.

Politics / Almighty Wike And PDP Caging by Babygiwa(f): 8:02am On Sep 29, 2018
By George Fabrisimo

Once again, Nigerians are faced with the herculean task of choosing who heads and steers the ship of the affairs of the nation. In the context of our democracy, the choices at this stage are between the choices that the two parties make and this case, it is whoever the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presents that faces incumbent president who seeking to return to office in 2019.

So, the PDP delegates are saddled with the responsibility of either getting it right by choosing the Right and the Best the party could offer at the moment or selfishly dash the hopes of the masses, who earnestly yearn and dream for a true change by selecting a mediocre for sentiments that would at best serve only the insatiable quest of a select few at the party level.

The scenario currently playing out points to the fact that some “powerful” individuals in the PDP are hell bent on thwarting the hopes and aspirations of the electorate by orchestrating an agenda that will make the PDP come off with a weaker candidate as its standard bearer.

I watched with utter disgust, how the Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, dared a whole party, which he is a member of by insisting the party must either play to his whims and caprices or be taught a bitter lesson.

The question is how did the party, PDP, got to that level? It is unheard of and unthinkable that a sitting governor would threaten a party that boasts of a Senate President, Deputy Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives, sitting Governors and former Presidents, Vice Presidents, Governors, Senate Presidents, Speakers, ministers and, hosts of other eminent Nigerians.

Even if the speculation that Wike is the main financier of the party is true, that is still not enough for him to disparage a political party of this size with its popularity and track of achievements. One is inclined to think that perhaps, the reason why Gov. Wike is taking the issue of the venue for the presidential primary personal, is because he’s neck deep into the agenda or plot to field a weaker candidate against the All Progressives Congress, APC candidate, President Muhammadu Buhari as a bargaining chip for him to remain the governor of Rivers State beyond May 2019.

Come to think of it, in Rivers State today, under Gov. Wike’s watch has sold out PDP’s stronghold to the APC. Two of the three Senators from the state are in APC already and the remaining one; is shaky. So, it suits Gov. Wike to trade the prospect of the party, PDP, under which he’s a governor with APC in order to maintain the seat that he currently occupies.

By the way, isn’t it a travesty for Gov. Wike to insult the intelligence of the people he governs who have stated unequivocally that it is either restructuring or nothing? I was shocked with the kind of comment Wike made about restructuring. He sounded as though, he belonged to the APC, who have maintained a clear opposition to the issue of restructuring.

As delegates of the PDP head to the convention ground wherever it takes place, they must bear it in mind that the enemy the party is faced with is bigger than an individual or group of persons of parochial like minds. Nigerians place a huge responsibility on the shoulders of the delegates of PDP, who are today in a position to decide where the country heads.

As such, they must resist any temptation of monetary inducements and an entreaty to do what their consciences feel is right for the country and the party in a week’s time.

The world is watching us as a people. We have for over 3 years plus cried and wailed and waited for this time to present itself to us again; so as to atone for our mistakes and miscalculation of 2015, when we had limited choices.

In 2019, the PDP must give Nigeria and Nigerians the right choice of candidate across board especially at the presidential level. Nigerians are tired of lamenting the inappropriate choices they make at the polls. They deserve to be given opportunity to choose between a competent presidential material, who would not only work the talk but be treated and accorded respect in the comity of nations and a candidate whose low performance in terms of governance has made the country the butt of all jokes.

Indeed, Nigerians would not forgive the PDP in a long time to come should they scuttle the valid expectation of the people.

Politics / 2019: Enugu Workers, Youths, Reiterate Support For Ugwuanyi by Babygiwa(f): 5:14am On Sep 29, 2018
Ahead of 2019 general election, the enthusiastic workers in Enugu State and the entire youth of the state have reiterated their stance on the earlier endorsement of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s re-election, declaring that they are solidly behind him.

The workers and youths, who spoke separately through the state chairmen of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) and National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Comrade Igbokwe Chukwuma Igbokwe and Comrade Paschal Ugwu, respectively, said the decision was based on their conviction that the governor has continued to entrench good governance, cater for their welfare and promote peaceful co-existence and national unity among residents of the state.

They described the governor as a God-fearing, peace-loving, visionary, hardworking, unassuming, pragmatic and high-performing leader, whose style of governance is uncommon and remarkable in the annals of the state.

Speaking on behalf of the workers, the state Chairman of TUC, Comrade Igbokwe applauded Gov. Ugwuanyi for his prompt payment of salaries on the 23rd of every month, “whether it falls on a Saturday or Sunday”.

Comrade Igbokwe added that Ugwuanyi “is a governor who makes workers’ welfare his first priority”, disclosing that “he paid June and July salaries even when FAAC did not sit for two months”, saying: “It is not obtainable anywhere”.

Reaffirming their earlier stance on the endorsement of Gov. Ugwuanyi’s re-election, the elated labour leader, who lauded the governor’s giant strides in infrastructural development and human capital empowerment, said: “We are supporting his second term bid and every other endeavor beyond his 2nd term, we will always stand by him.

On the part of Enugu youths, the NYCN state Chairman, Comrade Ugwu, stated that “our youth-friendly governor" has actually delivered on his promises to the youth in particular and the people of the state in general, disclosing that “youths in Enugu State are celebrating good governance and the peaceful atmosphere in Enugu State, made possible through His Excellency’s sound vision and humble disposition”.

While reaffirming the unanimous endorsement of Gov. Ugwuanyi’s re-election in 2019 by the entire students and youths of Enugu State, the youth leader, lauded the governor for the recent appointment of Comrade Ogechukwu Nnaneme and Comrade Chidi Ilogebe as Special Assistants on Youth and Students Affairs, respectively.

The labour leader, Comrade Igbokwe, who further disclosed that the workers are happy with Gov. Ugwuanyi’s leadership style, said: “We have never had it so good before. For the first time we are having a governor who has a listening ear. He has compassion for workers and carries labour along in taking decisions that affect them.

“I will tell you that in the last three and half years, Gov. Ugwuanyi has been in office, we have had more than 20 meetings with him and this was responsible for the successes we have recorded so far.

“So, we are delighted to say that in the three and half years of Ugwuanyi’s administration, the labour has fared very, very well in Enugu State. The workers are happy.

“Some arrears as far back as 2004, 2007, particularly the one of ENADEP he has started paying it gradually. There are people that are owed gratuity for a very long time ago and he has also set up a platform for the payment of those benefits by setting aside the sum of N100 million every month. This is a very welcome development.

“Now people can be in their house and they will be called from the Office of the Accountant General to come and pick up their cheque. This is something that has never happened before. We have industrial peace in Enugu State. We are part of the committee that disbursed the bailout fund and the Paris club refunds, and above all we are also part of the committee that fashioned ways on how to address workers' issues and we love it unlike taking a decision without involving us”.

Speaking further, the youth leader maintained that the recently appointments of youths were a demonstration of the governor’s interest in the growth of young persons in the state as well as his commitment to students’ welfare and youths’ inclusiveness.

His words: “Your Excellency, with 60% voting strength of the youth out of the number of eligible voters in Enugu State, we firmly re-assure you that your re-election is 100% guaranteed by God’s grace”. #amokelouis
