Car TalkRe: Mercedes Benz Thread by Badema: 12:56am On Jul 27, 2016
Uchboggy:
Good day house,

I just bought a C320 2005 model from a friend. This is my first car ironically. I am so naive I have never used a car before talkless of Benz.

I would like to ask some questions.

1. Where can one check for oil level in the car or dash board.
2. Where can one topup coolant(not water) in the car? Or how often do I have to top up the water on average?
3.what other things do I need to know about maintenance?
Chairman! I dey hail.

The petroleum downstream sector at the moment constitutes an oligopoly; a cartel, to be precise. Left to their own, they would devise ever unscrupulous means to rip off the rest of us and sooner we'll be having to acquire their products at ludicrous prices. What the government has done is to set an upper limit for the price, set no lower limit whatsoever and throw open the rights to import fuel to any Nigerian company. This should ensure that more people go into the business freely thus morphing the downstream sector towards a perfect competition that will inadvertently drive pump prices down in the long run.
Now whether or not this strategy will work in a country that consistently defies economic theories remains moot.

Am I missing something here or is it that none of these cowards here has ever been involved in any recruitment process outside the shores of this country in saner climes? Nlng committed themselves by claiming to be a company that performs to international standards so they should behave like one. It is not out of place anywhere in the world for employment hopefuls to request for feedback from HR as regards their status.
Why do you like calling people you may likely be working together with in the same unit perhaps 'cowards'? I thought we are a team already, of what benefit will it be to me if I declare you a 'Dastard' just for the sake of argument?

After a very long meeting I was surprised to see over 60 (probably for fear of being reminded of the privilege or favour done to them in considering them thus farprobably for fear of being reminded of the privilege or favour done to them in considering them thus farew posts and I tot the males don finally drop...

but it didn't take a long time to figure out all the rant was about 2 things: Contact NLNG and enquire about the recruitment status or Wait for "due course".

It is obvious that there are two sets of people: those who think there's absolutely nothing wrong in enquiring about their status irrespective of when the company would decide to let them know (probably cos they are aware of what's obtainable in other climes where companies are obliged to constantly update their candidates (by updating the candidates' online account/and or sending correspondences); and those who don't feel comfortable to enquire (probably for fear of being reminded of the privilege or favour done to them in considering them thus far, or just simple extraordinary patience).

My take home? Even if the discussion had continued till "due course" no agreement would probably still be reached. The reason is simple. THERE IS NO CLASH OF INTEREST WHATSOEVER. Enquiry by the enquirers does not in anyway affect the due course of the due coursees.

Enjoy your weekends, everyone!
I am not too sure if you know what has been trending cos if you had you wouldn't have implied "...fear of being reminded..." as ur justification.

@freeradical biko were nwanyo, E je bure . Please let's not react like a radical (remembering Uni Chemistry). You don't need everyone's approval to send the email. A simple vote will solve the matter. Moreover, I thought it has been shifted till June? Why are we still bickering and biting each other when we are supposed to be praying that the big dogs who want us to resume should be biting the other dogs?

Let's not get angry when we advise someone to change his/her opinions. Advice na market, I fit buy i fit nor buy nothing spoil.
Let's never argue and try to force our opinions down another person's throat.

Let's live with honor and if you come up with a rejected suggestion don't continue defending it at the expense of logic. Always appreciate a superior argument and refuse to be blinded by EGO.

We are one family. Happy Weekend.

Bros, this is very simple to relate. Why are most employees being laid off in the industry - No jobs/ projects coming in hence the need to save cost. No company keeps an employee they do not find useful. Just so you may know accomodation, renumeration is never a problem for a company like NLNG when there is business to do. In other words, you are saying they didn't have plans for you guys. NLNG will never give an individual feedback or tell you the sole business reason this is being delayed. I believe NLNG will learn from this. They will need to provide a platform where a candidate can track the status of his application. i.e on hold, cancelled, unsuccessful.
Exactly my point! "In due course" means a lot to mean "be patient till we get back to you whenever we are ready".

Let's just keep playing around to hit page 300 while we are patiently waiting for NLNG on one hand and minding our businesses on the other hand.

Wanted to keep mute and let this pass however didn’t want to leave the likes of @freeradical hanging since we started this journey together.
As has been buttressed severally (though it seems some folks are resistant to comprehension) the enquiry is TO GET A REASON FOR THE DELAY OR THE GET THE “BIG DOGS” TALKING not to hasten anything pls read!.
I think these folks are employees paid to douse situations like this.
In my little assessment I think most people here aren’t cowards they just don’t have an opinion of their own so they tend to follow the popular views.
@ dway4ward God bless you for the above, you are seeing the bigger picture of what is being debated here.
Sincerely speaking! I do not think there should have been any serious issue here, it's simple, you want to ask/request/enquire you are very free to do that, but it should not be compelling to others, a group of 5 to 10 can do that at will, it's still a cohort that can be given a fair hearing, but anyone who feels they do not want to be part of that cohort are not cowards in anyway, I personally feel 'in due course' is enough for me to mean 6 months, another person sees that as a week and has since that week asked/requested information.

Pls guys let's be as cordial as we've always been, its simple analogy, join cohort A or B.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: 2013 Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas (NLNG) Graduate Trainee by Badema: 1:01pm On May 06, 2016
freeradical:
@badema...i like your analogy above but what I can draw from it is that for every action expect a reaction and when it comes to human behaviour you can never predict that reaction. We all are wired differently so wyl some will choose to just be quiet and hope NLNG calls in a zillion years time some other will start demanding for feedback after 1week. Those that choose to wait a zillion years will accuse those that are agitating after just 1 week of being irrational and impatient while the latter will accuse the former of being lily livered cowards. After all na here we all dey somebody don go tweet Oga babs demanding for feedback....
It's simply human reaction!
There is nothing wrong in asking/requesting information, but my point is that, already many people have asked and got the same response 'in due course', feelers are that no amount of pressure from cacandidates will make NLNG communicate unless it is coming from a business point of view, (in all honesty, those conversant with 'organizational structure' should know this better). No amount of litigation can hold NLNG into account to respond immediately as far as 'in due course' is concern.

Talking about cowardice, I believe this is not a justification to 'for each and every cause there must be equal and opposite reaction'. U win a battle on the table not on the field when you have sustained multiple injuries or death.

The fact still remains, let's just keep busy doing what we know best how to do. let there 'in due course' be defined by contemporaries.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: 2013 Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas (NLNG) Graduate Trainee by Badema: 12:22am On May 06, 2016
Guys Guys!!
If you go to a gas station and join a long queue to refuel your car, and after spending 4 hours on the queue, the manager of the gas station decided to halt sales, and says 'till further notice', upon enquiry, you found out it could resume sales in few hours or even the next day, if you will agree with me: You've got just two options

Option A: Wait in the queue for God knows when sales will resume, buy fuel and zoom off.

Option B: leave queue quietly, go check other stations, start queue afresh

No Option C (beat the manager for doing something at his discretion, mobilise other people on queue to burn down the filling station etc, at the end, you no go get the fuel in that station and u Don waste your time not joining another queue)

My candid advise! Let's kindly engage ourselves fully in whatever we are doing or will be doing, My Ogas at the top let's just avoid continuing relevance through unproven theories.

I am only but a hopeful. Yours sincerely.

Why bother waiting till bonny when we can all arrange a 'meet n greet' session. Those in lag can arrange and meet, a few drinks and some chops. Same with others in other areas like Abuja, Benin, Delta, even those in the UK etc.

I mean we won't all make it to bonny, to be frank, but we can make this wait worthwhile if we take advantage of this situation and know each other.

Would have made this suggestion b4 now, so that this long holidays would b used for such, as most of us are very busy. Anyways it can always be planned. I am in lag and very ready to meet n greet with any available.

(Just thinking out loud)
That will be fun! Where are the Abuja house? @Uchboggy we dey your hand for this one, Chief Organizer.

Then over to the current raging war. Aphrodite4 is some one I do not know but have, shall we say, strong emotions for. Remember how Eminem made Dido or how Jay-Z made Mr Hudson blow? I engaged her in "battle" on one question dropped here pre-SHL (might have been pre-WAEC I don't remember exactly) and we brawled until she saw reason with me and backed down acknowledging my solution was correct. Na from that day I get small credibility on this thread. And she earned my respect. So anytime I see a comment from her I'm always interested in reading it. She seems to have a very strong and forceful personality given her comments but I don't think she meant to insult. The drawn out nature of this thing is bound to make us snap at some point.
I guess her forceful personality seems too forceful, use of words like -slowpoke- should have been threaded with caution. we are all humans and can err anytime anyday, our differences lies in our ability to redress.

@airsaylongcon how u dey? How the new office? Hope you're doing great? Happy Esther
