On the other hand, I have said it here on this thread that my opinion is strictly mine. You don't have to agree with my opinion afterall we don't think the same way. Yes I have. I have produced a short film, which I shot, directed and edited on my own. You have the right to complain, but your complaints and criticism is based on the fact that it's a 'rival' production company. Your opinion is yours, but you don't pass any opportunity to make it look superior. You call a film that was regarded as a success, a failure; because of you judged it with your personal prejudice. That's shoving your opinion in our faces. You could say you don't like it, but don't tag it a failure, because you feel like a movie expert..

The MCU thread is more of a discussion on mcu movies and upcoming movies, save for the invasion of trolls. But you guys here, majorly you and tonyspike like to feel like Alpha and omega of filmmaking, are more concerned with film critique. You're too absorbed in your know it all, you didn't notice I've stopped 'bashing' dc films a long time ago. You guys should get over yourselves..

If I have watched an older and superior movie that projected the African culture better, then I have a right to critique a more recent movie doing that. I don't pander to a movie because everyone says it is the best. It is my culture and I deserve to comment on how it is appropriated in movies and the media in general. The new generation of African-Americans that watched the movie were fooled into thinking that is how Africa is. Of course, they have a right to accept whatever the media gives them because they have little or no knowledge of what true African culture is.

Brings me back to my question, have you written a short story to accurately portray the African culture

Tell me, have you ever watched "Coming to America"? Now, that's a movie that did a better job at projecting African culture back in 1988. Black Panther with all the cinematic and technical advantage of this Era did a very poor job at projecting African culture. I stand by my words, bro.

Thor's entrance at in wakanda was a masterpiece, something for the archives. Someone joked that the scene alone fetched the MCU 1b.

I'm not concerned about Hollywood critics, na we Nigerians wey dey feel like we too know. Just imagine some people trying to state how a company like Warner Bros should do business, or belittle the achievements of Disney studio.. People who aren't even qualified to tell a small indie production company what to do.. The other one is criticizing them for atleast trying to portray a culture different from theirs.

Atleast the Hollywood critics have better knowledge of 'their' industry. But the guys here feel internet articles are the prerequisite of being a critique, people who can't even produce a five minute short film. Trust me, you'd stop all this nitpicking if you're asked to take a lap in a tiny pool of filmmaking..

A movie isn't a failure because tonyspike of nairaland says it is.. You people just act like you know it all, when in reality, you do not know the first thing about film making. The studio succeeded at giving a significant recognition to your culture, something your African filmmakers have failed at doing. The internet articles you read have succeeded in making you believe you have vast knowledge in filmmaking..

Most of you can't even run an objective film critique. You just have problems with movies because they weren't done how you wanted it, or because it's from a 'rival' studio..

Those costumes weren't just thought up without research.. So if they were ugly, it wasn't the fault of the filmmakers..

Let me burst your bubble, Black Panther was an overrated movie that was overblown by prejudiced black power movement. The movie had nothing to offer except showcasing ugly black culture costumes. It didn't deserve to make $1 billion+ as well.

N0w, a rival studio starts making films of unkn0wn characters and turning them into instant hits, and all of a sudden, WB wants to start making these films just the way its rival is doing, and we d0n't want c0mparis0ns? I want Aquaman to b0mb so WB can sit back and think again. They ruined Justice League for me, having Aquaman be a hit w0n't teach them a less0n.
