For anyone having issues with Starlink speed being slower after using external router.

Make sure you’re using a good Ethernet cable(cat 5e and above).
Make sure you don’t have a faulty Ethernet adapter(you can check that in Debug Data)

I’m using TP Link Er7212PC with Starlink and 2 MTN routers(one as Backup WAN and another as Access Point).

So instead of getting another router, you can use your old MTN router(use the WAN port, then change connection type to Cable Broadband).

Just make sure you don’t have cat 5 cables in your setup, this is very important

Just dropping my 2 cents
Which of the MTN routers? Is it the ZLT X20 5G, ZTE MC801A 5G, or ZTE MF286 4G router?

nedu666:
For band A to get 20hrs a day that means
1. Grid must not collapse
2. Rain must not fall. Remember it takes 3 days for wire to dry
3. Other bands must get more darkness than light
4. There must be no gas shortage

You can add your own

The real Band A areas in Abuja are constantly getting up to 22 to 24hrs for the past few days, barring rainfall and other unforseen circumstances, like feeder and breaker issues. The rest of the lower bands are suffering as a result.

I thank them for reversing my area tariff down from N225 they recently announced to N67 (excluding N7.50 VAT). It was actually around N94 (excluding N7.50 VAT) before the new increment in tariff. I actually don't know what happened or happening.
Below:
1.Previous tarrif before the hike N94
2. During the hike N225
3. After the reverse N67. All excluding the VAT.

My guy, it is better to remain on N67 per unit tarrif and manage the few hours you're getting daily than to move you to N225 per unit and still not getting power supply more than the other categories. Band A is a scam and you don't want to fall under classification, trust me. Band A and others still getting roughly the same hours of electricity
The thing is, ever since the increment in tariff for Band A, power has become terrible in my area as we are on band B. AEDC has made band A the only priority. Can you imagine that they even launched a web app where they provide daily updates on the uptime of power for Band A areas? Here's the link https://app.powerbi.com/view?r=eyJrIjoiYzBjMjA4ZmItNDllNC00Njc4LTk1ZTgtNTFhMzQ4ZDY0NjRmIiwidCI6IjUzMjc2MWM4LTYzZDYtNDk5OC1hNTIwLTNmZDYxOGVkNzM0MCIsImMiOjh9

If not for inverter, it would have been nightmarish for some of us. Today, I haven't had a total of up to 5 hours of light, and they probably won't bring the light till tomorrow. It's insane and annoying.

Useless bastards. So, Band A users are the only people deserving of quality and accurate service? Every other band can go to hell.

5k is 20 units only in my adugbo. Akowonjo.
That means you are placed on band A. If you are not getting minimum of 20hrs supply, you have to take it up with your DisCo. If they don't do anything about it, then report NERC

The situation is currently same everywhere even for Band A Customers. I can't be on Band A and be seeing 30minute of light on alternating Days!
It's high time people consider an alternative in Solar/inverter Energy. Obviously, the Discos have failed totally in their primary responsibility!
This is not true. On AEDC platform, those on band A feeders have been enjoying 24 hrs supply since the announcement of the new tariff regime. The downside is that, those on Band B and lower bands have not been getting the minimum hours of supply they're supposed to be getting.

I just noticed that my estate has been downgraded to band B today. It was still on band A as at yesterday. Even some areas that are enjoying power virtually 24hrs have been downgraded to band B, maybe erroneously. They're probably doing some sorting.

The new tariff is for customer enjoying over 20hours of electricity
That is where the fraud is. Not all customers placed on band A are getting up to 12 hours of power per day. It simply means you are charged at a premium rate, but not giving same value.

Politics / Re: NERC Fines AEDC ₦200 Million For Violation Of The New Tariff by BadMaster: 5:19pm On Apr 05
My estate is supposedly on Band A, but we experience nothing close to 12 hours of light per day, yet we are on same tariff with places like Maitama, Asokoro, Wuse 2, Games village that experience virtually 24hrs of power.

The 200 naira million fine is too small. AEDC has been using this scam to defraud customers for a long time.

Most times I laugh at some married men. Just go to any corporate organization, colleagues sleep with each, especially the married women. In fact, married women cheat with their male colleagues more that single women.

No, I didn't go through that route. I got mine here in Nigeria.

But, like I said, Starlink has a provision of registering a device that is not attached to an account. See screenshot below

Hello Please, I have a question, I want to ask a friend of mine in the UK to purchase one for me without an account or to use my Nigeria details to purchase it in the Uk. If he ships down to Nigeria, will I be able to activate it even though it was purchased in the UK and delivered to Nigeria. WHat do you think?
If they're able to buy it without an account over there, then fantastic, you should be able to use it here in Nigeria and register it for residential or roaming service, depending on service availability in your location.

Politics / Re: Are You Willing To Pay N178,000 Monthly For A 24-hour Electricity Supply? by BadMaster: 10:57pm On Apr 03
hazureal:
From what I heard, the increment is only applicable to those on Band A.

Band A customers are those customers who receive power for a minimum of 20hrs per day.

Band A: 20 to 24 Hours supply

Band B: 16 to 20 Hours supply

Band C: 12 to 16 Hours supply

Band D: 8 to 12 Hours supply

Band E: 4 to 8 Hours supply

(not that I'm in support of the increment though, this is just to shed more light on the issue)
This band ish is a scam the discos use in overcharging their customers.

Let me explain. For instance, in Abuja, Area 1 to Area 11, and from Wuse Zone 1 to Zone 7, from Galadimawa to Apo and surrounding areas are all supposedly on Band A, but these areas I mentioned, some of them don't see up to 3 hours of light most days. Now, can you imagine that elite areas like Maitama, Asokoro, Wuse 2, Aso drive are also on same Band A, but they experience more than 20hrs of light per day.

The whole band of a thing is a scam. If they go ahead and implement the proposed tariff, it would only make customers to bypass their meter.

Most likely a power surge issue and has damaged the router. I have experienced same, and Starlink sent a replacement for free. They have data that would show them what happened to the router, just open a support ticket and they will send a replacement.

If you do find a solution to the damaged one, kindly share with us, as I also have one lying around.

This is what we call, being intentional. You have certain loads to power 24/7, just choose one of our plans that can power it then dedicate it to that purpose.
Can this power 500W of load for 24 hours?

Tinubu needs Northern support in order to win re-election. If you're thinking of rigging election in the north, then forget it. Once he loses Northern support, he can't rig in the north. You can only rig or write numbers where you are popular.

El-rufai was one of the fiercest supporters of Tinubu during the electioneering period. But after elections, Tinubu abandoned him. The least he should have been given is a minister.

Before you call me ipob and sorts, go and check my previous posts, before and during the election period.

QuoteJust1nce:

There is even no need going up to the roof. If you check the Starlink app, Advanced and then find Debug data
You can see the "Cable ping drop rate" under Router submenu. This should be 0% at all times.
If it's greater than zero , it means there is a break in the cable and a new cable would solve it. If it is currently 0% with your old cable,
then a new cable won't solve the issue.
Do refrain from making blanket statements when you don't have all the facts. Just because Starlink made certain data available to us does not mean it's all there is to it. Telling the complainant that there's no need physically checking the cable is unnecessary.

Starlink recently informed me that my 75ft cable is faulty, and have sent a replacement, which is in transit. Yet my "Cable ping drop rate" is always at 0%. So, how do you explain that?

Starlink has an advanced system where they see issues around their kits. Just because we possess some knowledge about Starlink or some data is made available to us doesn't mean we should arrogate ourselves to Starlink.
