President Buhari Assures South East of  Key Transportation Infrastructure - Coastal Railway, East West Road

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday assured stakeholders from the South East that the region will benefit more from roads and coastal rail projects, which are of critical importance to the economy.

Speaking at an audience with leaders from the region led by the Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, the President declared that 2nd Niger Bridge, the East-West Road and the Coastal rail project, are receiving utmost attention from his administration.

The President said counterpart funding from the Chinese government would substantially fund these projects, which when completed will improve the welfare, well-being and economy of the people in the region.

"I know the Chinese are very competent in handling such projects and we will ensure that we get the money for the projects to take off.

I thank you for articulating your demands and I want to assure that we are doing our best for the country. If we can stop people from stealing, then there will be more resources to put into projects that will create employment for Nigerians,’’ the President said.

Responding to allegations of under-representation of Igbos in his government, the President said: `` I gave south-east four substantive ministers in the ministries of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Investment, Science and Technology and Labour.

"Seven states in the North got Ministers of State and of the two Ministries headed by your sons, I cannot take any decision on foreign policy and investments without their input,’’ he said.

The President also promised the leaders, comprising governors and ministers from the region, the President of Ohaneze, Chief Nnia Nwodo and representatives from the National Assembly, that he will visit states in the zone soon.

I want to assure you that I came into government with a clear conscience and I will also leave with a clear conscience,’’ he said.

Earlier, the President of Ohaneze, while articulating the demands of the zone to the President highlighted the issue of state creation, restructuring, federal projects in the South East namely Enugu-Onitsha road, Enugu-Port Harcourt road and Aba-Ikot-Ekpene road, among others.

Nwodo also demanded urgent presidential interventions on the Enugu Airport, reticulation of the gas-pipelines in the South East and the standard gauge plan for railway construction.
Commending the President’s remarkable achievements on security and the fight against corruption, Nwodo declared: ``we are ready to work with you. We are determined to work with you. We know you are a decisive leader and we know God will continue to give you the wisdom to govern Nigeria.’’

Also speaking, Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State expressed satisfaction on the outcome of their discussions with the President on critical issues and topics affecting the region.

"You have no hatred for any state. You have treated all states with equality. What one state gets in the north, the other gets in the south,’’ the governor said, referring to budget support facility and stabilisation fund released to states and local governments since the inception of the administration.

While it is weird to see someone get married to the type of people she mocks, people on the internet should realize that you shouldn't allow the opinion of others on social media to influence your life decisions.

Some people will write things just for fun, jokes or to get popular and you who dont know will think it is all fun and jump on it.

The Federal Government has described as fake and sinister the report that the outbreak of Monkey Pox in some parts of the country resulted from the alleged free medical care by the government in the affected areas.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said Nigerians should disregard the report which, apparently, is being spread by some unscrupulous persons to fit into a sinister agenda.

''The Federal Government has not conducted any free medical service or care in either Bayelsa or Rivers state, as alleged in the fake report being circulated. So that could not have been the cause of the outbreak of Monkey Pox in both states.

"Monkey Pox is a virus found only in monkeys and it is rare in human beings. It belongs to the same family as Chicken Pox and Smallpox.

''It is suspected that someone may have contracted it by eating monkey meat, thus triggering the current outbreak," the Minister said.

He assured that no effort will be spared in curtailing the spread of the disease.

Deal gone wrong

Towncrier247:
Chairman of Hope Never Die (HND) record, Owomabo has taken to his Instagram page to rant about how some members of the Nigerian media, particularly Soundcity have been frustrating effort of artistes in the country.

According to further findings following the reports, it was gathered that Owomabo’s rant was brought about by the refusal of Soundcity to play the latest video by his artiste, Demmie Vee.

The high definition video titled “Love Me Tender” Remix featuring 9ice and shot by respected director, Adasa Cookey was released few days ago and while other stations like HipTV, Planet TV, Trace Naija among others have continued to rotate it, while Soundcity has refused to do so.

We further gathered that Owomabo had sent the video to them for more than a week now only for one Olamide Adedeji, the General Manager of the station to tell him he has disapproved the video.

As if that was not enough, it was revealed that the station has particularly never played any video from Demmie Vee sent to them in the past, including “Awesome God” featuring Tubaba, despite these videos being of international standard.

"Technology and social media have brought power back to the people. This quote is only applicable to civilized nations.Thank God Instagram, twitter, whatsapp,Google, Facebook aren’t owned by Nigerians. These platforms are the highest platforms that has the highest coverage and reach. Why are Nigerians enemy to themselves? Why does everything that works well with people from other countries doesn’t work well with Nigerians" Owomabo fumed.

The music entrepreneur continued; “what do you think if these platforms were owned by Nigerians ? Am sure corruption will have set in and most of the things revealed on this platforms won’t be allowed to be posted. If you find yourself heading any media position in Nigeria and you are using this position against the masses may Ogun, Sango, and all other gods of the land kill you. This is the only power we have to talk to our government. But this power again is being privatised by some fools. Yes there are few good ones among them. You will disapprove videos that needed to be aired for the benefit of the masses all because of your selfish interest. If any artist sings about the hardship and corruption in the country, that song won’t be approved. Why won’t all our artists sing about ladies, who ever controlled ols the media, controls the mind. “The media is the right arm of Anarchy. This is the only power for the masses. Don’t keep mute about this. Let all artist/label owners unite and plug out this heartless fools who turn themselves to gods. Dont let them keep controlling our minds.”

Recall that this is not the first time artistes have called out Sound City, some years back musical duo Psquare went on a massive rant against the musical station for similar reasons, when the duo accused them of playing politics with artistes’ careers.
