ProgrammingRe: Redirect User To Different Pages On First Time Login by bakenda(m): 1:42pm On Aug 30, 2012
@OP, You seems to be on track.

Just to add, you need not write a separate query
to select the firsttime column, select it
in the query for validating users at login.

Make the firsttime column 0 by default.

Then proceed as explained in the above post.

Let's know how it goes.

One of the most brilliant pieces I've read in recent times.
There is hope for Nigerian literature.

BusinessIs Bulksms Business In Nigeria Saturated? by bakenda(op): 5:09pm On Jun 30, 2012
There are so many bulk sms sites nowadays,
and more keep springing up almost on a daily
basis. So, can we say the market for bulksms
in Nigeria is saturated or there is still room for more.
By the way, we just launched our own bulksms site supertextng.com.
We believe with unique features we can stand out from the crowd.

Nigeria bulksms site

Folks, what do you have to say about this.

To all the graphics gurus here, you might like to
play with this in your spare time, and I think is
a good idea - design a graphic(jpeg,png) mock up
of a Nairaland forum page - using a different concept
and let's see it here - just for fun, not that it
will change anything.

ProgrammingRe: How Do I Improve My Programming Skills? by bakenda(m): 7:14am On Jun 02, 2012
It seems you've made the important discovery that
programming is not all about knowing programming languages
but solving problems, rather than choke yourself with more
programming languages, i'll advise you develop your problem
solving skills (with the language you know already, later you
can learn more languages if you want to). The 'secret' is :
PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE. Remember "Practice makes perfect";
look for projects to work on, if you get stuck, ask questions or
use google, you'll make mistakes but then that is part of the
learning process.
Programming"Apply Via API" by bakenda(op): 6:50am On Jun 02, 2012
Interesting and nice:

Forget uploading resumes or filling out forms on some job board.
Backend-as-a-service company Parse is inviting potential hires
to apply via its Parse API. In what initially looks like an added
barrier to entry, the company is hoping its cheeky and geeky move
will attract the sort of developers who think in JSON.

All that’s required is your name, email address, a message describing
why you’d be a great fit and an array of URLs. Oh, and be sure to set
the Content-Type as application/json, but I’m sure you’d have done that
by habit, right?

In a highly competitive market for developers, is Parse making it harder
for people to apply? For the right fit, the company might be making it easier.
