CelebritiesRe: Esther Audu Shades Actresses Who Refused To Attend Her Wedding by balash(m): 10:42am On Aug 16, 2016
azeeza:
I was suppose to be in a friend's bridal train, i could attend the traditional but I was hoping to travel down to her place later in the day because I have to be in the office friday and the journey is just four hours. I called to inform and she said no problem, two hours later around 2.30pm my grand mum died I couldn't make it to the wedding anymore. I called my friend, she refused to pick my call. I sent an sms and even sent her gift through a courier service on the day of her wedding which I was told she received the gift before the wedding reception. As I am typing now she has not called to say anything not to even send an sms. Babe you are here and as well reading this, I don't bear grudges against you but if there is any bring it on let squash it once and for all and live our lives freely. If it is because I couldn't attend your wedding, which you know my granny died on the day of you wedding mhen you attitude suck and I don't need negative people around me.PEACE!!!!!!!
Whats with the public bants, When did you start been like this? send her pm and apologise when she is ready to accept she would Dear, Maybe you just very close and she felt you should have tried been around against all odds at least Grandma is old but the wedding is close to her heart and she needed someone extremely close to her. stop the public bants

To those who think this author is too explicit, please note that the book was written first she foremost for the American society that is in itself explicit.

That being said, the OP shouldn't have posted 'half truth' as that is what he did. He took a page from a whole book and used it as a benchmark to judge the book.

To those who think the author is too explicit, then you need to look up a guy Praise Fowowe. The first time I heard the guy speak, I was dumbfounded. The truth is that Homosexuality & paedophilia are on there rise. That's a truth all parents know. Whether you want to be explicit or not in warning your child should be determined by you. But, you have to educate your child.

My 2 cents
It's simple! While growing up what Age where you introduced to opposite sex or homosexuality

The OP wrote this thread and put up that picture as if the book was promoting Paedophilia and Homosexuality. And people ran away with it. Not one person stopped to go "that cannot be right, this makes no sense". Later on, we will be wondering how some radical Imam will preach Hate and people will start killing their neighbours and be blaming Islam.

Sometimes I don't know why I speak up. I've been thinking of leaving this place because I'm so, so tired and it's so hard to accept this is my society. Or was it because I didn't mention God and sound spiritual??

Duh. Is that not the whole point of the book, for them to recognize such situations and run away from it?

Lame.

Summary is that Your paranoia over homosexuality led you to abandon common sense before creating this thread. Just back up and admit your mistake.
Don't wanna argue anything with you again! Your claims would have been better If you just know am not comdemning the book, am only pointing out the private parts words that kids shouldn't even have knowledge of been intimate at ALL

To the Ladies with the forming too brilliant peace sorta comments

I don't have any problem with whatsoever the book is about or what it's promoting but I will never encourage my little kid going through a story book which wants them to even be under a blanket with the picture of a close uncle they love so much

And talking about where they want them to touch and how much it feels good? Let me teach my kid not to even be close enough to be on bed with a close uncle and be touched at all

I never said anything bad about what the book portrays or not!! It was very simple, go through a book before you allow your kids do same

The rate in which this kids are so exposed to little things you believe adding 'been under the blanket with a close uncle and touching private parts and it felt good' should be added into a story book and you believe they won't wanna try that? How many of the kids would finish the book and not saying regardless of what the book says, they said touching private parts feels good shouldn't be tried.

I don't understand where your blood is rushing against my topic which was clear 'Go through story book before kids reading' I never condemned the book I only wasn't pleased with that private parts touching side of it and if you can't understand that there's nothing I can do.

Don't unleash buhari's anger on me.

You were trying to demonize the book when it seats you should be encouraging parents to look it up and buy it for their kids.

You were telling outright lies. That the book is encouraging homosexuality when the fact is that it's helping to educate kids against pedophilia.

You were sensationalizing a healthy topic because of blind homophobia. Your first instinct was to rush and open a condemnation thread without applying reason. Like asking why would a normal person publish a book to teach kids how to engage in sexual acts with adults? You don't stop to think, you just assumed that's it was.

Should I go on?
Lol be right back 4u
FamilyRe: Warning! Lets Go Through Story Books Now Before Buying For Kids (picture) by balash(op): 11:11am On Aug 14, 2016
Onegai:
Lol. But I didn't know the whole book. I merely realised that logically, no publisher will be allowed to publish a book that encourages Paedophilia. Simple Reasoning. It starts with "Here is a page from a book that is targeted at children. But this page makes no sense because it would be illegal to publish and sell this. So clearly, for it to be published, it must be against Paedophilia. Now, how about I find some proof that my assumption is the correct one? I'll go online, type in Google some keywords from the passage I saw 'Uncle Peter, Children Book, Child abuse'." And there it all was.
That's how Reasoning and Logic works. And that is how people are supposed use their brains grin yeah I feel good that I use mine, but I don't need NL to make that clear to me. Try flexing those mental muscles!

Balash, on Nairaland's Frontpage, yesterday alone there were like 3 threads all reporting how children below the age of 10 were molested (apparently there was one that a 3 year old bled to death after being raped). Saying "This is Africa, we don't need to tell our kids anything" is burying your head in the sand like an ostrich and thinking that if you don't look at the problem, it will go away. Now, this book is explicit for Nigeria's "standards" but there are books targeting this problem, written by Nigerians (Africans) which are meant for even younger children (I have a copy and my child is not even 2. See, you also erred by assuming I wasn't a parent). My grouse was that you didn't quite look up the whole issue and you judged based on something that is of no bearing to you (that is their society, this is our society). But please, don't ever say "This is Africa, we don't need such here", because even in NL, there is ample evidence that we have a huge problem with Child Abuse in Nigeria. smiley
Babe my problem with you started with your insultive claims, you don't know me from anywhere so you have no rights to just call me names. It's immature approach in relating to someone you don't know

My submission was very simple 'Go through story book before buying for kids'

Is this too much for you to understand, cultural practices aside, people get books from abroad and bring it down here for kids to just read at home, imagine kids going through all this alone at home?

Onegai is very much on point here.

The problem with most thread starters is they post half-truths / incomplete stories just to ramp up blind rage from readers. The title of the thread is deliberately misleading too.

Once again, it's about asking one's self: what is the thread starter really trying to achieve here? and applying logic before jumping to conclusions.

Kudos, Onegai.

the bolded is unnecessary. All in a bid to make yourself feel better and superior.

The fact that you already know the full book and it's title doesn't mean they lack reasoning or logic.

the only person that should be attacked is the OP, for uploading just one page of the book and spreading misinformation.

That said, The way the writer of the book is conveying the message is not proper and can be misunderstood by kids. Did they have to include the imageshuh
Why should I be attacked? The posts about 'touch me in some places and it felt good in a kids story book isn't that the weirdest thing to think your kids can read'
FamilyRe: Warning! Lets Go Through Story Books Now Before Buying For Kids (picture) by balash(op): 8:57am On Aug 14, 2016
I never said anything incriminating here, my post was against the words used in the book! Asked me to touch him in certain places and 'it felt good' that's my issue, that shouldn't be added, even if you must explain your claims it shouldn't be in an insultive ways in dialogue

Let me inform you about something, this is Africa and naturally we don't need story books to even enlighten kids about paedophiles

Am just way informed that touching parts shouldn't have been included in the books and there are better ways to intrument conclusive dialogues than insult

But naturally I would love to teach my kids naturally about how weird paedophiles are and not have to read in the midst of kids and allow the crazy inquisitive ones give them the let's try it advise

But why are Nigerians not intelligent? That book is most likely used to teach kids AGAINST paedophilia and how it can come from trusted adults. Same way "No Don't Touch Me There" exists but is not as explicit as this.

But why are people just unintelligent and incapable of using the little brains God gave them?

https://www.amazon.com/Alfies-Home-Richard-Cohen/dp/0963705806

There, quick Google search yielded up results. It is written by a therapist who believes Homosexuality is caused by Child Abuse and can be cured. People in the U.S. don't like it because it is againat Homosexuality.

You're welcome.

Ps: please all posters above me, don't modify your comments to cover up like you used your reasoning and logic. Leave it as is.
Can u seat tight and go through this your writeup again and imagine how silly it sounds? This story book is basicly for little kids. Kids read story books to learn and as well try whatsoever they read with there friends. They posted an uncle on the bed with a little boy and the autor said 'touch me in certain places and it felt good' and you still believe we Nigerians are unintelligent because the book was actually promoting awareness against pedophiles?

How many little kids brains can actually understand this you posted that it 'helps' instead of condemnation. When this kid go through this story book without the guidance of elders they would also want to try that 'thing' that felt good while the boy was in bed with the uncle! Yes I know the title of the book and I know all the stories behind it but that up there when a boy is allowed under a blanket with the uncle that felt good should never be added into the book because kids are naturally inquisitive and would want to try it too.. one of the kids might come to school and say. ' did you read so so so book' 'did your uncle try that thing with you' 'it was actually sweet and you can try it too'

You actually want kids to understand that book is an awareness instead of corrupting kids?

It was actually very very silly of you been so insultive in calling me 'unintelligent' I believe you don't have kid yet because if you do you won't result to this solution after deeds have been done kind of condemnation. Thanks for the insults and God bless you.

PoliticsDogara: I Will Not Resign, Padding Is Not An Offence by balash(op): 7:33am On Aug 06, 2016
The Speaker of the House of Representatives in Nigeria, Mr Yakubu Dogara, says he will not resign despite allegations of budget padding against him.

Mr Dogara made the statement after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday.

Talks at the meeting were believed to be largely focused on the budget padding scandal rocking the lower legislative chamber.

It came a day after the ruling All Progressives Congress asked the Speaker to stop further public comments on the budget padding issue that had triggered diverse views.

Not An Offence

A presidency source said Mr Dogara had requested for a meeting with the President over allegations levelled against him by a former Chairman of the Appropriation Committee of the House, Mr Abdulmumin Jibrin.

Shortly after the meeting with the President, the Speaker of the House told reporters that despite the allegation of budget padding, he would not resign.

He said that budget padding was not an offence.

The Speaker further emphasised that he had been a lawyer and a member of the House for a long time that the word padding had never been an offence and that those who allege of padding of the budget should be the ones to prove it.

On whether there would be sanctions against Mr Jibrin, the speaker said: “The ethics committee of the house would determine that”.

Asked if he was worried over the allegation, he said it was nothing to be worried about. “Why should I be worried?” he asked.

Budget padding scandal resurfaced months after the budget was passed by both the Senate and the House of Representatives, with Mr Jibrin submitting a document to back his allegation against some members of the House to four federal government agencies.

He indicted Mr Dogara and 11 others in the document.

The petition was submitted at the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Department of Security Services and the Police headquarters all in Abuja.

During the period the legislative arm of government was deliberating on the budget before its passage, the executive had accused the legislature of adding a project that was not in the document sent to them for approval.

But the legislature insisted that it had only helped the executive to put a poorly documented budget in a better shape.

PoliticsAngry Nigerians Want Buhari To Recall Sports Minister From Rio by balash(op): 7:10am On Aug 06, 2016
Six-Time Olympian, Segun Toriola, may have seen this ugly situation coming when he declared that preparation for the 2016 Rio Olympics was the worst for Team Nigeria in the Olympic history. The reality has dawned on many sports loving Nigerians.
The Nigerian Olympic football team, Dream Team IV, were initially scheduled to leave their training base in Atlanta, USA for Rio, Brazil last Friday, but the departure was moved to Monday.
The trip was later shifted to Tuesday, and then Wednesday. The players and their officials only jetted out to Brazil in the early hours of yesterday and landed in the city of Manaus just a few hours before their opening game against the Blue Samurai of Japan. The game was played at 2.00 a.m. this morning.
As expected, the shabby travel arrangement for the Dream Team has elicited mixed reactions from Nigerians back home, with majority of the people calling for the head of Sports Minister, Solomon Dalung, whom they accused of flouting the order of President Muhammadu Buhari by refusing to hand over preparation of Team Nigeria to the Nigeria Olympics Committee (NOC).
According to reports monitored by The Guardian yesterday, the morale of players and officials of the Dream Team was at the lowest ebb before their departure from the hotel in Atlanta to Brazil. While some of the players were said to have threatened to return to their various clubs just before they were told to move to the airport, others openly expressed regret for being part of the trip.
“This is nonsense. What are we supposed to do now? Just sit in America when the Games are happening in Brazil? We don’t even know when we are leaving and I tell you if we don’t leave today, I will just pack my bags and return to my club,” one of the players told Supersport.com
Some Nigerians, who spoke on different Radio sports programmes in Lagos yesterday, expressed their disappointment at the way and manner the sports minister handled the travel arrangement of the Dream Team and preparation of Team Nigeria in general for the Rio Olympics.
“If President Buhari really meant well for Nigerian sports, he should recall the sports minister from Rio with immediate effect,” one caller, who identified himself as Oludamola from Festac, Lagos said.
Another caller, who gave his name as Sampson from Victoria Garden City (VGC, Lagos), said: “I am sure the sports minister won’t allow his children to go through such rigorous travel arrangement. He has just shown to the entire World that Nigerian government does not care much about the plight of its sports men and women. The sports minister has also shown his weak point. To me, there is no need keeping him in that position. The presidency should sack him immediately.”
Even before the shabby flight arrangement, the team’s preparation camp in Atlanta had been rife with problems, caused by inadequate funding and bad planning. It was learnt that their final tune up game against Honduras was scrapped when the team could not travel to the game site. Even the hotel bills and feeding were said to have been picked by the Nigerian Community in Georgia.
According to reports, it took the intervention of Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, who hired a Delta Jet for the Dream Team to be airlifted from Atlanta to Manaus, Brazil yesterday.
The flight time from Georgia with one stop for refueling in Panama City, Costa Rica, was a little over eight hours. The players were said to have earlier refused to fly a ‘small’ jetliner provided for them from Atlanta before Osinbajo’s intervention came yesterday morning.
