You're definitely an APC member. All you have done is deflect, deflect and deflect. I already mentioned 59.5 as Nigerian data for access to electricity.

Looks like you have problem understanding basics.... 59.5 is for Nigeria total access to electricity 86% for Urban and 26% for Rural is per data I provided.

Mille:

We are talking about North Korean numbers. Where is your screenshot of the North Korean numbers?
Anyone with a working brain won't be asking this...I gave you a link that shows NK Urban access to electricity which the rural areas data is non existent which correlate with satellite image that shows only the Urbanized capital with electricity. If you want to prove me wrong then bring up the data.

Mille:

Where is your source of 5 hours electricity in South Africa?

South Africa has 80 plus electricity access...with some area with zero to no power. I will definitely fetch it when I less busy.

Mille:

Where is your source that disagrees with the Reuters North Korean data?

https://www.businessinsider.com/north-korea-is-pitch-black-at-night-2015-10?r=US&IR=T

https://www.rfa.org/english/news/korea/electricity-06102021181701.html

Where is your source of the better and quality healthcare?
Where is your source for better roads?

Number index

Mille:

In your words,

"That 52.6 for NK was only for those in the Urban area...there was nothing for the rural because their rural areas lack electricity". Where is your screenshot?

What screenshot are you asking for again?

Mille:

Seems I have wasted my time. I thought I was debating with a patriot. You're sounding like a political zealot.

FACT don't care about your feelings...if you like call me APC chairman it won't stop me from countering you lies.

I have been and still dealing with data in my work. I'll not misrepresent a data. Maybe you should go ahead and re-read the link.
The 52.6 was for all of North Korea. There is no available data for both urban and rural areas.

Now Reuters is not a good source despite them mentioning at least 5 good sources in the article. I'm waiting for your source that disagrees with me.

Nigeria is a disgrace when it comes to basic human needs. Electricity, good roads, security, housing and water. It's even worse with our current man in Aso-rock as the country is currently in regression. As a Lagosian, I have had to apologize to everyone I promoted Tinubu to. I never imagined there will be anybody worse than Buhari but see how wrong I am.

I need your proof of places in South Africa with less than 5 hours daily electricity. As far as I know, load-shedding in South Africa is in stages and has never gone beyond stage 8 so I need your evidence.

I'm a Yoruba conservative myself but you're beginning to sound like an APC man. We have a Yoruba man as the minister of power. The city I stay in, he is more popular than even the president himself. It is now common for children as young as 5 to say "Ko ni da fun Adelabu".

Lol...you definitely don't work with data like you claimed..cause if you do, getting those data shouldn't be a problem for you

First pics is for Nigeria rural areas to electricity

The second pics is for is for Urban access to electricity

Third pics is for Nigeria a totaaccessss to electricity

According to your link

Access to electricity (Nk) - 52.6
Access to electricity (NG) - 59.5

Access to electricity in rural areas - unavailable data. So I don't know where you saw your non-existent rural power.

Other notable data to take note of.

55% of households in North Korea have access to cheap solar systems (https://www.reuters.com/article/us-northkorea-solar-feature/cheap-solar-panels-power-consumer-appliance-boom-in-north-korea-idUSKCN1RT2P1/)

Increased power generation by private companies has resulted to North Korea having 22 hours daily electricity (https://english.hani.co/arti/english_edition/e_northkorea/878329.html)

You clearly did not understand the data

That 52.6 for NK was only for those in the Urban area...there was nothing for the rural because their rural areas lack electricity...so I am actually right when I said Nigeria is far far better than NK in access to electricity.

Reuters is not a source of data when it comes to energy...I can also pull out source that disagree with you.

Mille:

Meanwhile in Nigeria, they will count me that has 2 hours electricity every 4 days as having access to electricity. Go to Ibedc Twitter page and see people complaining everyday of not having light for weeks. Those ones too will be classified as having access to electricity.

As a student, I was posted to do my IT in Isaga-orile near Abeokuta, Ogun state. I spent one year in that place. I only saw light once in that town for just 10 minutes. 10 minutes in a year will also be classified as having access to electricity.

Like the Yoruba adage says, Ti won ba n tan e, ma tan ra re. Make we no dey deceive ourselves.

Btw, see attached image. An electricity distribution company had the audacity to release to the public that it supplies people with 0 and 1 hours electricity daily. I'm sure you'll classify those ones too as having access to electricity.

Like I said even the countries people like you will classify have more electricity than Nigeria..there are places you don't get 5 hours of electricity in SA.

Just now someone was shouting Nigeria my country just because writer posted news about Tanzania shutting down grid due to excess supply which does not translate to having 24-hour energy.

Please bring out your sources or proof of the above. I refuse to believe someone who has lived in Nigeria will say the following with certainty.

Since the beginning of the year, I currently have two hours electricity every four days where I stay despite being purported to be in band B (16 hours). Saying I am 100% better than a country which reportedly puts off it power supply by 10pm to conserve electricity is unbelievable. So bring your sources.

For the other metrics, please bring your sources.

Of course it's varies...Where I stay here in the North we get 18-19hours of uninterrupted power. And in fact the rural parts get up to 20-21hours.

[ur]https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/EG.ELC.ACCS.ZS?locations=KP[/url]

You can also note that NK rural power is almost non existent.

Chai! Which way nigeria. But instead of shutting down the dams they could have export the excess electricity to another country tha needs it . Another reason africa must invest in critical infrastructure

Why bring Nigeria again into this? Looks like most of you are having problem...Same Tanzania with less than.. 50% electricity access and still struggling with power supply.

Note: Excess power production is normal even here in Nigeria...infact Nigeria main problem now is not power generation but transmission and distribution.

Nigeria has a population of almost 200m and NK is just about 10-15% of that, so yes with our number we have a better economy than them. Now ask yourself these questions
Population does not make better economically, if it by population then India should be far richer than USA and UK combined. You have no point here.

dvkot:

Are the 200m people in Nigeria living better than the 25m people in NK?
Yes! Nigerians live far far better than their counterparts in North Korea in every standard. And it can be proven.

dvkot:

Do we have a better functioning health care than them?
Absolutely...better and quality healthcare system.

dvkot:

Do we have better roads and power than them?
Nigeria is 100% better than NK in both roads and power supply and access. It's not even debatable.

dvkot:

For a country of 200m how's is our military compared to them?
Military is not by population..and we ain't spending 50 percent of our budget on military.
While NK focused on building a formidable military due to geopolitical threat...we on the other hand limit our spending on defence cause we faced no external threat and all surrounding countries are weak military wise compared to us.
Nigeria and NK

Different location
Different doctrine
Different threat level
Different approach etc.

dvkot:

When you answer these questions also keep it in mind that you are comparing one of the world largest oil producing nation with no sanctions to one of the most sanctioned country.

Why should I have it in mind if we are actually comparing them,?

I read your conversation. People were majorly pointing out that it's unfair to compare North Korea with Nigeria. North Korea has been at a threat of war for decades. A war not just from any nation but from the United States, along with its NATO colleagues, Japan, and Australia. (Up to 40 countries in total.)

On top of that, North Korea is heavily isolated. It is majorly surrounded by water, which makes smuggling anything in or out of the country difficult. Its northern border with China leads to a mountain range while its southern border with South Korea is filled with mines.

Then, add the thousands of sanctions that the US and its allies have slammed on it. To cap it all, the country has limited natural resources, at least, the ones everyone always needs, like oil and gas.

Despite this, North Korea is still able to build power stations, satellites, and the rockets it needs to put those satellites into space. It mostly plants its own foods and builds its own stuff, including ships. And ow, it built nuclear weapons, even before Iran.

With all these in mind, is it really fair to compare Nigeria with North Korea?

Which of those stuff that North Korea has built does Nigeria have? What have we built? That was the origin of the disagreement.

A heavily sanctioned, and yet well-educated country with lots of scientists and engineers that can build stuff vs a non-sanctioned one that most likely still imports toothpicks.

That said, what we know about North Korea is what the Americans told us. And the downsides of North Korea (which you pointed out) are mostly the results of sanctions and not the result of the country's inability to do stuff. (It is very important that you understand the part in bold.)

Meanwhile, the downsides of Nigeria is the result of our inability to build anything. Have we even built anything? Even our roads are built by Chinese, Lebanese, and Syrians and not Nigerians. Ordinary public water, we can't do. So where is the comparison coming from? What really is the point?

The comparison between North Korea and Nigeria should never even come up in the first place because of the sanctions that have prevented North Korea from reaching its potentials.

If Nigeria is the secondary school footballer who isn't very good with football, North Korea is like a professional footballer with one leg. Those that sanctioned it took the other leg away ๐Ÿ˜€
If no one wants a comparation between both countries, why bring Nigeria into this? Just because some post a video of few estate means NK is now the yardstick to insult Nigeria? That I won't take.

PS: I would have reply in a way to counter most of your submission..but it will only drag this further....so let leave it here.

No no no, the problem began when a picture of Kim Jong-un inaugurating a housing project surfaced, and someone used it as a chance to criticize Nigeria, like they often do with every small thing. Then, another person, lanre316, pointed out that this only showed the positive side of North Korea and that they also have negative aspects. But instead of addressing that, the argument quickly shifted to comparing the military strengths of both countries to try to win the debate. It's clear that North Korea has a stronger military than Nigeria.

The bold is their escape route...I don't get why most of them think every nation's earth is better than Nigeria. Post a video of one beautiful place in Somalia or Iraq and watch them shout Somalia and Iraq is more developed than Nigeria.

No, that is false I don't know who accused him of being pro-westerrn. But what is being debated here is that military technology Nigeria is no where close to NK ... What is there to argue about? Or does acknowledging a truth makes you less patriotic? While we all want Nigeria to grow we can't deny the BIG BALL OF CORRUPTION holding it back ... We all saw the deputy minister of defense in Russia facing trials for bribery. Can such a high profile person be arrested In Nigeria?
Our government needs a purge and corrupt officials should be eliminated just like it's being done in so called communist and dictator state or military rule, the consequences of corruption has to be death.
Only with this can Nigeria experience a real development and a real investment needs to begin in our defense industry,
Democracy is not for us, it works for the West and not us. Military rule would be better
Did you follow the argument?

If you did..then point to the particular comment where I argued that Nigeria's military is more technologically advanced than that of NK.

Nigeria govt is corrupt agreed.
