SHAIBULIAR: Islam is the message that some people don't want to hear, but the answer they're looking for. Islam is not a new religion, but the same truth that God revealed through all His prophets to every people. Our prophet Muhammad (Allah's peace and blessing be upon him) already taught us that in akhir zaman i:e Last Age, truth will appear false and evil. Falsehood will appear good and will be embraced. Who are those that will be deceived?....they are people who have eyes but can not see. they have ears but can not hear. They are just like cattle. This include some Muslims. Qur'an is not talking about our naked eyes. Rather "eye of the heart". That's, the dead eye(heart) if you care to know. So keep up with hate. The creator (Allah) is not harmed by your disobedience to him, but YOU are the one who will be in great distress in this life and the next 8 Likes 3 Shares |

Excuzeme: The holy Bible revealed to which Prophet? |
![]() |
dearpreye: salaam ( peace unto you) the whole universe is full of evidence indicating that there is Allah (God) and that He is the Creator and Sustainer of all that exists. We can prove this by acknowledging that all this did not occur by accident in space. So if there is a creation, it logically follows that there is a Creator. As such it is up to Him to determine what the purpose of this creation is all about. God, in His Infinite Wisdom, has chosen to reveal this purpose and plan to us through the system of messengers and books. We are not in opposition with the belief in God, but rather we are only bringing about a clarification and return to the more original concepts with Islam. We are all brothers in humanity as well as acknowledging that we come from Adam. The idea of being a Muslim brother or sister is that we are “brothers in faith.” we are not trying to deny God, His Books, His Angels and His Messengers, not at all. Islam is only making clear what the concept and relationship of Allah (God)is to us. The concept of Allah He is the Creator, but not created; He Sustains, but is not sustained; He exists, but never within what He created; He has Divine Attributes, but they are the epitome or ultimate of that characteristic; He has features, but they are not to be compared to what is in His creation. While He is Perfect in every aspect, His creatures (us) are not. Allah is far Exalted above His creation and as such we should never try to make Him manifest somehow inside of anything or anyone. Regarding the status of angels, they are perfect. They obey every single command of Allah and never falter in their duties. The idea of the devil being a “fallen angel” is totally alien to Islam. The devil was elevated to worship Allah along with the angels, but he was not one of them. Adam and Eve. Adam is created from clay, Eve is created from his rib (same as the Bible). The subject of the “sin of the forbidden fruit” is that both sinned. They repented and Allah accepted their repentance and forgave them. Sending them down out of Paradise to the earth was not a punishment from Allah for what they did. Rather, it was something that Allah had destined for them before He ever created them. All of this is a part of the Divine Plan of Allah to make the world a “testing ground” as it were, for them and all the humans that came after them. Islam's stance on the purpose of this life. We are only in this existence for a short period of time to see if we will do one of two things: worship Allah as He has ordered, or worship something that He created. If we fulfill our obligation to Allah in worship and exert our efforts in offering Him sincere devotion, then He will forgive the other minor sins upon repenting to Him, and we would then be admitted to His Paradise in sha Allah.(If God will) On the other hand, if we do not fulfill our duty to Allah, then we would be thrown into total ruin by our own choice. How can we know what Allah wants for us and how can we best achieve our goal, which is Paradise? We cannot begin to guess the answer to this anymore than we can create ourselves in the first place. We need guidance for this. Where do we obtain it? The only way possible is if Allah the Almighty reveals something to us .The Qur'an is the final revelation in a long series of revelations from Almighty Allah to mankind. It supercedes the previous revelations and as such replaces whatever might remain of them. So as the Bible is understood to be the “Old Testament” and “New Testament” then the Qur'an would be the “Final Testament” according to this type of labeling. Part of the essential belief for the Muslim is to have firm faith in the fact that Allah, the Exalted, sent down the original revelations in the past. They include: •Scrolls of Abraham •Torah of Moses •Psalms of David •Gospel of Jesus •The Glorious Qur'an to Muhammad Each Prophet, peace be upon all of them, came only to bring the simple message of “There is no deity to worship throughout the entire creation, except Allah Who is the Creator but never in His Creation.” Muslims are taught to elevate all the Prophets to a level of high honor and respect. We do not associate them with major sins and crimes. While we take all the Prophets to such a high degree in Islam, we do not make them as gods or demi-gods. So, Islam clears Prophet Lot of the crime of incest and Prophet David from committing adultery, and so on. Additionally, while taking these Prophets to such lofty status, Islam simply never approves of the status Jesus, peace be upon him, is held in Christianity, rather it returns him to the level that he mentioned about himself as being subject to the authority of Almighty Allah (God). Their is distinction between Islam and what some Muslims do. Islam is a verbal noun. It is an action, something that you do. It means to surrender, submit, and obey Allah in sincerity and peace in all that we do while here on the earth. If someone does this, then he or she is a Muslim whether or not they know it. “Muslim” simply means the one who is performing the verb or action of “Islam.” Some people have the name “Muslim” while not actually fulfilling the title. So, we would separate the two words and understand that while “Islam” is perfect, those who try to do it (Muslims) are not perfect. May Allah always make us see the truth as truth, and allow us to follow it, and see falsehood as falsehood and to abstain from it. Ameen |

9jatatafo: Good, the Quran is very easy to understand and you can read the whole quran in a day. so where do you live and how do you want me to send it to you? You can also get it any any islamic bookshops or mosques 1. Inimitable It dares you to disprove it. How? It says that humans cannot write a book like this even if they pooled all their resources together and got help also from the spirits. The Qur’an said this issue fourteen hundred years ago and yet no one has been able to disprove it. Billions of books have been written-but not another one like the Qur’an. 2. Incorruptible It is the only religious sacred writing that has been in circulation for such a long time and yet remains as pure as it was in the beginning. The Qur’an was kept intact. Nothing was added to it; nothing was changed in it; and nothing was taken away from it ever since its revelation was completed 1400 years ago. 3. Unsurpassable The Qur’an is God’s final revelation to humankind. God revealed the Torah to Moses, the Psalms to David, the Gospel to Jesus, and finally the Qur’an to Muhammad peace and blessings be upon Moses, David, Jesus and Muhammad. No other book will come from God to surpass His final revelation. 4. Indisputable The Qur’an withstands the test of time and scrutiny. No one can dispute the truth of this book. It speaks about past history and turns out right. It speaks about the future in prophecies and it turns out right. It mentions details of physical phenomena which were not known to people at the time; yet later scientific discoveries prove that the Qur’an was right all along. Every other book needs to be revised to accord with modern knowledge. The Qur’an alone is never contradicted by a newly discovered scientific fact. 5. Your Roadmap for Life and Afterlife The Qur’an is the best guidebook on how to structure your life. No other book presents such a comprehensive system involving all aspects of human life. The Qur’an also points out the way to secure everlasting happiness in the afterlife. It is your roadmap showing how to get to Paradise. 6. God’s Gift of Guidance God has not left you alone. You were made for a reason. God tells you why he made you, what he demands from you and what he has in store for you. If you operate a machine contrary to its manufacturer’s specification you will ruin that machine. What about you? Do you have an owner’s manual for yourself? The Qur’an is from your Maker. It is a gift for you to make sure you function for success, lest you fail to function. It is a healing from God. It satisfies the soul, and cleans the heart. It removes doubts and brings peace. 7. Your Calling Card to Communicate with your Lord Humans are social creatures. We love to communicate with other intelligent life. The Qur’an tells us how to communicate with the source of all intelligence and the source of all life. The Qur’an tells us who God is, by what name we should address Him, and the way in which to communicate with Him. |

talkingtruth:People called him lord, worshipped him? But did Jesus (peace be upon him) ever claim or preach that his lord? It befits not (the Majesty of) God that He should beget a son (this refers to the slander of Christians against God, by saying that Iesa (Jesus) is the son of God). Glorified (and Exalted be He above all that they associate with Him). When He decrees a thing, He only says to it, "Be!" and it is. (Iesa (Jesus) said): "And verily God is my Lord and your Lord. So worship Him (Alone). That is the Straight Path. (God's Religion of pure Monotheism which He did ordain for all of His Prophets) Then the sects differed (i.e. the Christians about Iesa (Jesus)), so woe unto the disbelievers (those who gave false witness by saying that Iesa (Jesus) is the son of God) from the meeting of a great Day (i.e. the Day of Resurrection, when they will be thrown in the blazing Fire). How clearly will they (polytheists and disbelievers in the Oneness of God) see and hear, the Day when they will appear before Us! But the Zalimoon (polytheists and wrong-doers) today are in plain error. And warn them (O Muhammad ) of the Day of grief and regrets, when the case has been decided, while (now) they are in a state of carelessness, and they believe not. Verily! We will inherit the earth and whatsoever is thereon. And to Us they all shall be returned, #Quran19:35-40 |

kozmokaz: {O Mankind! The Messenger has come to you with the truth from your Lord, so believe, then, for your own good! And if you deny the truth - behold, unto God belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is on earth, and God is indeed all-knowing, wise!} (Quran 4:170) God invites all human beings to accept Muhammad as His "Messenger" who brought truth from his Lord. A "messenger" of God, in Islamic doctrine, is more than a prophet. A prophet is essentially someone who foretells the future. A "messenger" is a moral teacher appointed by God to carry the divine message to others based on revelation he receives. The reception of ‘message’ from God is termed ‘revelation.’ Islamic tradition views all ‘messengers’ as prophets, but all prophets are not considered ‘messengers.’ Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad (peace be upon them) are viewed as messengers. Why should someone accept Muhammad as God’s messenger? Muhammad was a fulfillment of the biblical prophecies of Moses and Jesus. Muhammad had an impeccable character and lived a perfect life that has been preserved like no other man’s. His religious teachings and morals are the best solution to modernity’s predicaments. The Quran, the scripture he brought from God to the world, is an inimitable literary miracle and the only world scripture that has been preserved word by word. In short, everything about him and from him is simply true. Those who do not know this man are invited to learn more about him, as God Himself has announced that belief in Muhammad is better for the person’s own good. If he does so, he will live a happy, disciplined existence in this life, and after death he will live for eternity in Paradise. If someone chooses to reject him (and, consequently, the One who sent him), it will not harm God or His messenger in anyway, but rather only harm the one who rejects. Everything in the universe belongs to God, He knows everything and is wise in what He commands and creates. |

chikids: Some of the biggest misconceptions that many non-Muslims have about Islam have to do with the word “Allah“. For various reasons, many people have come to believe that Muslims worship a different God than Christians and Jews. This is totally false, since “ #Allah” is simply the #Arabic word for “God” – and there is only One God. Let there be no doubt – Muslims worship the #God of Noah, Abraham, Moses, David and Jesus – peace be upon them all. However, it is certainly true that #Jews, #Christians and #Muslims all have different concepts of Almighty God. For example, Muslims – like Jews – reject the Christian beliefs of the #Trinity and the #Divine Incarnation. This, however, doesn’t mean that each of these three religions worships a different God – because, as we have already said, there is only One True God. Judaism, Christianity and Islam all claim to be “Abrahamic Faiths“, and all of them are also classified as “monotheistic“. However, #Islam teaches that other #religions have, in one way or another, distorted and nullified a pure and proper belief in Almighty God by neglecting His true teachings and mixing them with man-made ideas. |

kogirodent: Our world has changed so much over the last twenty years. Islam and Muslims, though, were perceived as something foreign, having little to do with most people’s lives. If for no other reason than to find out the truth about what Islam and Muslims are really like, people who are not Muslim should try to find out more. If only to make sense of what they are daily seeing on their television screens, people need to sort out in their minds what is true and what is not. In other words, they need to know what Islam is really like. A lot of unnecessary fear and misunderstanding would be dispelled if people could take the time to see what this Islam is really all about. Muslims believe that Islam has existed since the beginning of time and that it is the natural religion of mankind. They believe that Almighty God (or Allah as he is known in the Arabic language) has spoken to His Creation down through the centuries through prophets, whose names are familiar to us all. Their names are household words: Adam, Abraham, Moses, David, Solomon and Jesus are just a few of them. The last in this long line of prophets was Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), who didn’t invent or found Islam, but to whom was revealed the Quran over a period of twenty-three years. The Quran confirms all that had gone before that was true and it corrects all that had become distorted from the past over time. Being fed so much on the TV and in the press about Islam, people deserve to know what this “Islam” really is. They need to be able to distinguish for themselves between what is truly “Islamic” and what are the actions and words of people who don’t really speak for Muslims at all. Without knowing a little about Islam, people might be forgiven, in watching news stories on the TV, for thinking it is the religion of monsters, whereas ordinary Muslims throughout the world share nothing with those who would harm and dominate others in the name of Islam. Muslims are just ordinary folk, going out to work each day to put food on the table for their children, yet their lives have been touched by an extraordinary message. The message of Islam was very simple: there was just One God in heaven, Who had created them and Who still cared for them. In turning to that One God (known in Arabic as “Allah”) they could find inner peace and a way to live that would make sense and bring them happiness. This, too, is important for people to understand today. The way of living imposed upon people by Islam was not just an arbitrary set of rules imposed upon them by a remote God. This God, Allah, was indeed remote and different from them, but He was also closer to them than they were to themselves. Since He had created them, He knew everything about them and He knew what was best for them. In our modern world, there are few people who would buy a new mobile phone without at first having at least a cursory glance at the instructions provided by the mobile phone company. Without looking at the maker’s instructions they would risk breaking the phone. It is the same way with Allah. As the One Who made us, He knows how we work and what is best for us. Islam simply teaches that without listening to the Maker’s instructions we cannot live the full lives He intended us to live. Some people might say that some of these instructions seem strange, maybe even difficult to accept. Muslims would respond that Allah surely knows better than we do what is best for us. He made us. So if He tells us that drinking alcohol is not good for us or that eating pork will harm us, then surely He knows better than we do what is for our own good. There is so much of that original message of Islam that has become clouded over in our modern age and just doesn’t reach people’s ears. Modern-day detractors would have us believe that Islam is somehow hostile to women or treats them as less than men. Indeed, cultural practices in some countries would support that view. Yet Islam does not hold that view. Islam, when it dawned upon the Arabian Peninsula all those years ago, came to give women unheard of rights they had not known before. Why is it that Muslim women, even today, don’t change their name when they get married? Why do they keep as their own the money given as a dowry? It is because Islam protects them as individuals and gives them security for the future. It gives them the right to be provided for by their husbands and to work or not to work, as they choose. In those early years, Islam abolished the pernicious practice of female infanticide. It put an end to men having the right to marry as many women as they wanted to. It gave women the right to own property and carry out business transactions. Many of these rights were only enjoyed by women in the West in the nineteenth century. The list goes on and on. Only by learning something about Islam will people see that it has the potential to offer a different way of living, different to the way offered to us by the modern world. In Islam, money is the not to ‘be-all and the end-all’ of everything. In fact, Muslims give away a portion of their unused wealth every year. Far from hoarding it and making interest on it, Islam tells them to give it away! In praying five times a day, Muslims are not just following a ritualistic rota of prescribed prayers, They are pausing five times in their busy day to think about what life is really about and Who made it. In doing that they can then go about their lives with a sense of meaning and direction. In other words, in Islam there is a reason behind everything that Muslims do. At the heart of everything they do, is the belief that has come from Almighty God (Allah) and that at the end of their lives it is to Him that they will return. Life in this world is but a passing thing, to be enjoyed and to be lived well, but it is one lived always with an eye on the life of the world to come. In keeping that eye on the future, Muslims’ lives become rich, richer than any money can provide. If people really want to get the most out of this life, enjoying its benefits and avoiding its dangers, they owe it to themselves to find out a little about what Islam has to offer. In doing so, they will find that it offers them the chance of really becoming the best they can be. 2 Likes |

bewla: In fact, the whole topic of free will is very interesting, yet, a misunderstood topic. Almighty Allah has honored humans and endowed them with two important gifts. The first is the ability to differentiate between right and wrong, and that is attained by the very clean human instinct and then furthered by the dos and the don'ts as explained by Shariah. The second gift that was given to humans by their Creator is the free will to choose between what is good and what is bad. Of course, this choice is not a blind one; rather, it is based on the Divinely-endowed will and the nature that is able to differentiate between right and wrong. Bearing all this in mind, none can ask to be excused on the Day of Judgment because they had no knowledge of what is right and what is wrong or did not have the free will. The simple reason for this is, as explained before, that people do have the ability to discern what is correct and what is not, and are endowed with responsible will that enables them to take full responsibility of all their words and deeds. This very notion of being able to differentiate between what is right and what is wrong puts humans in a delicate test to explore and show their real obedience to their Creator. Therefore, people who make the effort, struggle against their will and direct it towards Allah are better than angels in that sense. This is because angels do not have this free will. They are there for specific purposes and to do specific jobs like carrying the messages of Allah to the messengers of Allah, protecting human beings and recording their deeds. Because they have no free will, and they are just cut for obedience, angels will not be reckoned on the Day of Judgment, because there is no point of doing that to them. Of course, this is then completely different from human beings who, on the Day of Judgment, will be taken to task for their deeds and punished or rewarded according to their choices. Some people may question: if angels were created to obey and have no free will, how come then that Satan said: "No" when he was commanded to prostrate, amongst all other angels, to Adam? Is not that considered to be disobedience and thus it gives an indication of some kind of choice? The simple answer to all this is no, simply because Satan was never one of the angels and never will be. So, if that is the case, what is the whole story behind the Satan's being mentioned in the same context and what brought him to the scene? To answer this question, we need to refer to the Quran itself and the books of exegesis. The Quran tells us in another place that Satan was one of the jinn and he disobeyed the command of his Lord. Almighty Allah says: {And (remember) when we said unto the angels: Fall prostrate before Adam. And they fell prostrate, all save Iblis. He was one of the jinn, so he rebelled against his Lord’s command.} (Al-Kahf 18:51) In his commentary on this verse, Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall, one of the most well-known translators of the meanings of the Quran, wrote: "The fact that Iblis or Satan is one of the Jinn and not of the angels, though he was among the latter, explains his disobedience, since Jinn, like men, can choose their path of conduct." (Pickthall, The Holy Quran, pg. 186) With this in mind, we can understand what our scholars tell us that Iblis (a name of Satan) was actually one of the jinn, and was so obedient to Allah that He raised him, for wisdom and a purpose, to higher ranks and he was living in the heavens, worshipping with the angels. When he was commanded to prostrate to Adam, he was there in his place amongst the angels, but because of his nature, he was still endowed with the free will to choose. His presence there was definitely for a purpose. Probably, it was a test and Almighty Allah knew that Satan was going to do this. Either way, Satan was not one of the angels and therefore, the characteristics of the angels do not apply on him. One final thing remains. Humans have an eternal enmity with Satan and know that Satan is sparing no efforts all the time to misguide and mislead them. Therefore, they should be very cautious and alert, never to fall in the snares of Satan. Islam teaches that the way out is to resort to Allah all the time and pray to Him for guidance and protection. Muslims are taught by the Quran to seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan and say: "I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan." May God protect us all from Satan and forgive our sins and mistakes. |

ccnation:A short journey through Quran Have not those who disbelieve known that the heavens and the earth were joined together as one united piece, then We parted them? And We have made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe? And We have placed on the earth firm mountains, lest it should shake with them, and We placed therein broad highways for them to pass through, that they may be guided. And We have made the heaven a roof, safe and well guarded. Yet they turn away from its signs (i.e. sun, moon, winds, clouds, etc.). And He it is Who has created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon, each in an orbit floating. And We granted not to any human being immortality before you (O Muhammad SAW), then if you die, would they live forever? Everyone is going to taste death, and We shall make a trial of you with evil and with good, and to Us you will be returned. #Quran 21:30-35# And a sign for them is the night, We withdraw therefrom the day, and behold, they are in darkness. And the sun runs on its fixed course for a term (appointed). That is the Decree of the All-Mighty, the All-Knowing. And the moon, We have measured for it mansions (to traverse) till it returns like the old dried curved date stalk. It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor does the night outstrip the day. They all float, each in an orbit. #Quran 36:37-40# With power did We construct the heaven. Jagoon:Jizay vs Zakat It establishes that the People of the Book who are residents in an Islamic state, are exempted from defending the state, shall pay a defense-obligation exemption fee called jizyah. If they refuse to pay the jizyah, then the state is obligated to obtain it by force. The verse clearly states: {And fight against those who – despite having the Scripture (aforetime) – do not (truly) believe either in God or in the Last Day, nor consider forbidden that which God and the Conveyor of His Message have forbidden, nor follow the religion of truth (which God has enjoined upon them) until they agree to the payment of the exemption tax (of defense-obligations, jizyah) by those who afford it, and acknowledge their subjection (to the state).} (9:29) this verse is totally political, it does not state fight the People of the Book because of their religion, but rather over monetary and regulatory issues within the state. “The purpose of the fight is for not paying the Jizyah, not for the religion. In fact, the verse shows mercy to the People of the Book, as is the case always, God excused those (People of the Book) who could not afford it.” When the Holy Quran imposes a fight, God explains the purpose for that fight. There are many objectives for a fight. For the People of the Book, the fight was for Jizyah, not for any other cause. when Muslims had to go to war with Christians, it was for their aggressions. “Muslims are ordered to fight only those who evoke hostility against them, not anyone because of their religion or for missionary work.” He quoted the Quran as saying: {And fight in the cause of God those who have (initially) waged war against you, but do not transgress (by exceeding their losses over yours).} (2:190) Allah says if the Pagans did not commit aggression, then “as long as they are good to you, be good to them.” Verse 9:7 states: {How can there be for the Pagans a treaty in the sight of Allah and with His Messenger, except for those with whom you made a treaty at al-Masjid al-Haram? So as long as they are upright toward you, be upright toward them. Indeed, Allah loves the righteous [who fear Him].} The disbelievers of the People of the Book are closer to the Muslims than the Idolater disbelievers. The evidence of this is why Muslims are permitted to share their food and engage in marriages with Christians and Jews. Muslims are not allowed to do the same with the Idolaters. In Chapter 9:11, Allah says about the Makkan Idolaters: {if they repent, establish prayers, and give Zakah, then they are your brothers in religion.} He said in the same Verse of “the Sword”, 9:5, Allah states, {If the Pagans repent, while in the battlefield, then spare their lives, and do not kill them.} Why were the People of the Book not given this choice, as the Idolaters, of embracing Islam for sparing their lives? The answer is very simple. It is because the Qur’an does not enact fighting the People of the Book because of their religion, it only establishes fighting disbelievers in response to their aggressions.” A similar policy to Jizyah for the People of the Book is applicable to the Muslims themselves when they refuse to pay their dues to the state. Muslims are obligated to pay to the state zakat. Zakat is a form of taxation similar to the tax that most people have to pay to their respective states. In a similar manner to the case of Jizyah, with respect to the People of the Book, if Muslims also refused to pay Zakat, then the state is obligated to obtain it by force. An example of this was the case of the Murtadeen, several tribes who, during the rule of first Caliph Abu Bakr, refused to pay Zakat. A war was conducted against them until they paid it, and acknowledged their subjection to the state.Jizay vs Zakat It establishes that the People of the Book who are residents in an Islamic state, are exempted from defending the state, shall pay a defense-obligation exemption fee called jizyah. klax:. Actually, as it has been clarified again and again that while Jihad serves as a means of defense for Muslims against aggression, and acts as a deterrent factor against any anti-Islam scheme launched by enemies, it must never be construed as something synonymous with aggression. Jihad is never a tool of waging war against the innocents; it's never a means of flexing muscles or bullying the weak and oppressed. Jihad in Islam is something unique, established to defend the divine message from being eliminated or hindered by its enemies. Shedding more light on the true concept of Jihad, Allah says, (And strive in His cause as ye ought to strive (with sincerity and under discipline). He has chosen you, and has imposed no difficulties on you in religion; it is the religion of your father Abraham. It is He (Allah) Who has named you Muslims, both before and in this (Revelation); that the Messenger may be a witness for you, and you be witnesses for mankind! So establish regular Prayer, give regular Charity, and hold fast to Allah! He is your Protector, the best to protect and the Best to help!) (Al-Hajj 22: 78) Jihad is one of the most misunderstood, and abused aspects of Islam. There are some Muslims who exploit and misuse this concept for their own political objectives. There are many non-Muslims who misunderstand it. There are some non-Muslims who misinterpret it to discredit Islam and Muslims. What is Jihad? The word Jihad does not mean “Holy War”. It means “struggle” or “striving”. The word for war in the Qur’an is “Harb” or “Qital”. Jihad means serious and sincere struggle on the personal as well as on the social level. It is a struggle to do good and to remove injustice, oppression and evil from the society. This struggle should be spiritual as well as social, economic and political. Jihad is to work hard to do right things. In the Qur’an this word is used in its different forms 33 times. It often comes with other Qur’anic concepts such as faith, repentance, righteous deeds and migration. Jihad is to protect one’s faith and one’s human rights. Jihad is not a war always although it can take the form of war. Islam is the religion of peace, but it does not mean that Islam accepts oppression. Islam teaches that one should do one’s utmost to eliminate tension and conflict. Islam promotes non-violent means to bring change and reform. Actually, Islam urges that one should eliminate evil through peaceful means without the use of force as much as possible. In Islamic history from the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) until now, Muslims most of the time resisted oppression and struggled for liberation in non-violent and peaceful manners. Islam teaches proper ethics in the situation of war also. The war is permissible in Islam, but only when other peaceful means such as dialogue, negotiations and treaties fail. It is a last resort and should be avoided as much as possible. Its purpose is not to convert people by force, or to colonize people or to acquire land or wealth or for self-glory. Its purpose is basically: defense of life, property, land, honor and freedom for oneself as well as defense of others from injustice and oppression. The basic rules of war in Islam are: 1. Be strong so that your enemy fear you and should not attack you. 2. Do not begin the hostilities. Work for peace as much as possible. 3. Fight only those who fight, no collective punishment; non-combatants should not be harmed. Weapons of mass destruction should not be used. 4. Stop hostilities as soon as the other party is inclined to peace. 5. Observe the treaties and agreements as long as the enemy observes them. Allah says very clearly: (Fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you, but do not do aggression, for Allah loves not the aggressors.) (Al-Baqarah 2: 190) (The prohibited month, for the prohibited month, and so for all things prohibited, there is the law of equality. If then any one transgresses the prohibition against you, transgress ye likewise against him. But fear Allah, and know that Allah is with those who restrain themselves.) (Al-Baqarah 2: 194) Jihad is not terrorism: It is to be emphasized that terrorism against the innocent civilians, whether through aggression or suicidal means, is under no circumstances permissible in Islam. Islam encourages the oppressed people to struggle for their liberation and it commands other Muslims to help those who are oppressed and suffering, but Islam does not allow, under any circumstance, terrorism against non-combatants and innocent people. Terrorism is not Jihad, it is Fasad (mischief). It is against the teachings of Islam. There are some people who use their twisted arguments to justify terrorism for their causes, but it has no justification: Allah says: (When it is said to them: 'Make not mischief on the earth,' they say: 'Why, we only want to correct things.' Indeed they are the mischief doers, but they realize (it) not.) (Al-Baqarah 2: 11-12) Islam wants to establish a world order where all human beings - Muslims and non-Muslims - can live with justice in peace, harmony and good will. It gives its followers full guidelines to find peace in their personal and social lives, but it also tells them how to extend the good will on the basis of human relations towards others. Muslims worked under these principles for centuries. People of many faiths lived with them and among them. Islamic societies were known for their tolerance, generosity and humanity. In our modern society where we are living in a global village, where non-Muslims are living with Muslims in the Muslim countries and Muslims are living with non-Muslims in countries where non-Muslims constitute a majority, it is our duty to bring better understanding among ourselves, work for peace and justice for all people and cooperate with each other in matters of goodness and virtue in order to stop all terrorism, aggression and violence against the innocent people. This is our Jihad today. Allah Almighty knows best. 5 Likes |
