Honestly, I feel sorry for some brainless Igbo.

They make things difficult for the reasonable ones among them.

Finally, at least a few of them are speaking out and pointing out the fruitless gragra of their people.

I do not know how they reduce themselves to victims, with all their pride.

So when is an Anambra man going to be allowed to become a mayor in Abia, let alone a Kenyan becoming a commissioner in the SE??
We celebrate it when Nigerians take up political positions in other countries, but we would never allow people from other states to enjoy same privileges, let alone from other countries. That smacks of low self-esteem.

Cold comfort.

Just pray they don't change all to U.S dollars where it will be worthless.

GeneralDae:

Nigeria could have done far better is different from saying Nigeria regressed. Two different things.
Afterall some countries truly regressed since 1999. Afghanistan regressed, Libya regressed to name a few.
Education / Re: Tinubu Okays Release Of Four Months Withheld Lecturers’ Salaries by banku: 12:25am On Oct 21, 2023
Good point.

VeeVeeMyLuv:

how was India able to do it?
India lifted 415 million people out of poverty in 15 years. They've sent a probe to the Moon and will send a man to the Moon with the next 3 years.
415 million people is more than twice the population Nigeria has. India doesn't really have much by of natural resources. But they have leadership. Good leadership.

In the same time frame, Nigeria has retrogressed. From 1999 till now, Nigeria has been budgeting towards backwardness. What exactly is wrong with Nigeria? It has to be said. There is no successful black nation anywhere on Earth! For this simple reason; the black man does not understand the concept of the general good. He seeks only for himself. As leaders or the led. That's the common denominator. The 'I better pass my neighbor mentality' is the curse of Nigeria.

Nigeria could have done far better, despite your point.

GeneralDae:

Nigeria has not regressed since 1999. We have more bigger financial sector, bigger export base, more growth in diversification for exports, a bigger middle class, bigger tech sector (including Telecoms). More slay queens and slay mamas, more Billionares made (especially in Obasanjo's time), Nord, Innoson, Lekki, a more developed Abuja, Eko Atlantic, Proforce, Bigger Nollywood, the rise and rise of Afrobeats, etc.

Much easier for drug peddlers to blame Tinubu as drug peddler, for certificate forgers to blame Tinubu for forgery, for looters of government properties to blame Tinubu.

Thief thief nor dey like another thief around him.

Even after losing his home and adopted states where he could have rigged them out, Tinubu outsmart them with their own greed by dividing themselves for conquest.

Birds of the same feathers.

Politics / Rather Be In A Foreign Jail Than Live Free In Africa ‌ by banku: 12:43am On Oct 01, 2023
COLUMNS
Rather be in a foreign jail than live free in Africa

Many Caribbean and African countries are going into agreement with developed countries to repatriate prisoners to their countries. Countries or prisoners are either given lump sums or promised new prisons in their home countries. Some countries have signed on, while others have barked at the offer.

The countries that barked at the offer see it as another form of slavery in disguise. Whatever we think is slavery, we must ponder and look at some points. Most of these criminals were youngsters, good people, and law-abiding folks before they left home. They were corrupted because they suddenly found themselves at the bottom of the ladder in the countries of their dreams. In order to survive they did all kinds of odd jobs, including some in criminal activities that landed them in jail. Some took to prostitution, drug peddling, forgery, and other activities they would never have tried within their communities back home

African countries are not that bad, but we have to taste life outside for some of us to appreciate some opportunities we could have taken at home. By the stories we hear, one would think there are no trying and debilitating times for some of those poor struggling in rich countries. There were many examples of suffering without smiling that are hidden from us, but we say better there than here at home where everyone knows you. This writer carried phone books for delivery on his head and shoulder in a foreign country but would never have done it at home.

Of course some Caribbean countries refused to take prisoners back as they have enough of a hard time dealing with criminals already at home. In order to sweeten the deal, these developed countries have tied it to more aid. The offers have been taken by a few African countries and they are just waiting for implementation. We may be surprised to wake up one day and find out some prisoners were secretly returned.

We know animals would swallow any money given. There is nothing more toxic to a developing country than some “hard core criminals” they have no idea how to handle. Many of us were surprised that, just as toxic criminals, toxic waste we have no expertise to neutralise was dumped in African countries. Well, now it's humans, alive and kicking. If anyone can deal with them it should be the countries that are well endowed with resources to do so

Did you see that Punch is the source quoted?

Since when has good news most people wish for in the country become divisive?

What is wrong with these warped mentalities

Irony1:

You always have a way of killing a topic that would seem sensible for a good discourse for Nigeria's growth by centering it solely for South west. Oga if you cannot be constructive in your discussion and all you know is to promote division and sectionalism and invariably trying to go tribal then it is better to be silent and stop posting rubbish.
Business / Re: Five Top Exporters Earn $22m In Two Months – CBN by banku: 1:51pm On Sep 30, 2023
There are some good encouraging contributors here. Please do not be distracted. These companies need to do more to increase production.

On the other hand are distractions that have never seen anything good about Nigeria EXCEPT when they are in power. Even then, Nigeria and their base fell further into abject poverty.

A couple still preach open borders to import junks that killed Nigeria. It is Government, government and government that did not do this or that. Yet, our cement moguls from every region in Nigeria, go to less developed African countries, buy jungles to establish plants and factories.

They provide their own infrastructure for their plants. Yet, sell their goods less than they do in Nigeria !

Stop giving excuses why you cannot and start acting on what you can. Make a difference from your villages, towns and states.

The problem with bullies playing bad boys is that they are real cowards. You must stand up to them or poke them in the eye. Their inferiority will be cowed.

As much as I hate Police, they have their roles in the society.

You remember how they subdued Portable feigning bad boy by beating up his aides, sitting on top of Icon and all of them out doing one another to be notorious.

In the first place, I cannot stand any of the three Presidential candidates and anything about them cannot surprise me.

If this is Opposition Research, fine. But we also know about Peter Obi's drug mule Chinenye Ezewuzie. If Tinubu spent as much on her as Obi and others are spending, all side will knock one another out and we shall have peace to concentrate on the problems of the Country.

Note that the original story was bought and killed

Make no mistake about her, Chinenye Ogwumike is an exceptional lady on and off basketball court.

But folks, we cannot move forward in Africa because of advisory or executive positions overseas. Charity begins at home.

We have Vagabonds in every corner of our Country waiting for the next allocation to drop so that they can snatch it. And worse, launder it out.

Nigerians have talents that are only used to acquire MONEY anyway they can. There are millions of Africans overseas languishing overseas, you are always celebrating a token few!

Africans, especially Nigerians must reflect on their roles inside not outside.

Most of us forget that Yoruba would rather employe Igbo and rent to them than their own Yoruba.

Politics / Re: Seeking For Investors Abroad Waste Of Time, Obi Tells FG by banku: 1:57pm On Sep 27, 2023
There are different types of investors. There are daredevils, explorers or missionaries expecting handsome rewards as soldiers of fortune.

Average infrastructure does not have to be in place for mercenaries to invest. But they have to be able to hold their noses while making money. This is why they ask why you guys are running out when Africa is the best place to make money.

Privileged and indifferent Africans know that. It is the reason they pay foreigners hefty price to help them launder money outside recklessly.

Africans are so deprived and desperate, any chance they get, even in the face of death penalty, Asma Boys in Libya or cornering allocations at home, they think money is all they need overseas where they are despised.

Imagine investing that money and talents at home? No, we are looking for soft landing where our fathers never toiled like enslaved African Americans.

Olorunsogo!

banku:
Seeking foreign investors has always been a mirage on one hand. An opportunity to launder on the other hand. Every Government claims it is solution or salvation to our problems.

Anybody that knows his game will tell you Nigerians are some of the richest individual investors overseas.

Consentrate and find ways to harness billions laundered out every year by members of successive government and their cronies.

Why look overseas for investors inside your sokoto (pockets) while traveling to Sokoto?

These children do not know that Nigerians presence in the international bodies was more in those days than today.

Find out about Igbo in International Court.

Find out about Yoruba in World Health Organization.

Indeed, in the dying days of colonialism, Africans were proud to welcome Nigerians to replace Europeans in the technical positions that were vacated out of spite.

Why are these Youths celebrating every job or position filled by Nigerians?

Who in his right mind compare racism that crippled a whole people and their Continent to tribalism because they resist your invasion?

Of course, invaders crying that they missed the opportunity to capture their hosts. Knowing full well their own tribalism is worse, even within themselves.

Some people said it is not new, I agree. But it has never prevented us from seeking "good education" abroad and boast of the successful token few.

The reality remains that this is a fact of life for Black children abroad. They kill their self-confidence planting inferiority complex in them. By the time they grow older, their parents wonder how they lost their children culturally abroad and even at home.

It get worse as the rich raiding Central Bank send their children in care of foster parents.
