Nairaland / General / Female Banker Arrested Over Rep Member’s Death by bankwalter: 11:05am On Nov 25, 2013
A member of the House of Representatives from
Ondo State died in the early hours of yesterday after
what security sources said was a sexual affair with a
female banker in his private residence located at
Gwarinpa Estate in Abuja.
Rep. Raphael Oloye Nomiye, who was 50 years old,
was until his death representing Ondo, Ilaje, Ese Odo
in Ondo State under the platform of the Labour Party.
The lawmaker was said to have died shortly after an
affair with the banker (names withheld).
The spokesperson of the Federal Capital Territory
(FCT) police command, Hyelhira Altine Daniel,
confirmed the incident, saying the command was still
investigating the cause of the legislator’s death.
When Sunday Trust visited the deceased’s residence
at Second Avenue in Gwarinpa Estate, neighbours
and witnesses said the banker, who managed his
accounts, was said to have rushed down for the one-
storey building to inform the policemen on guard at
the house that “oga just fell down and is vomiting
blood.”
They said when the policemen entered into his room
upstairs, they found him laying on the floor with a
towel tied round his waist, while he bled from the
mouth. He was then quickly taken to a private clinic
on 3rd Avenue within the estate in his official Toyota
Camry 2012 car with Registration Number 148B Rep.
It was further learnt that doctors at clinic declined to
attend to him, saying it was a “serious” matter,
following which he was then rushed to the National
Hospital, Abuja, where he was later pronounced
dead.
Police sources disclosed that the banker, who is now
in police custody at the Gwarinpa Police Division, had
earlier denied having sexual affair with the lawmaker
before his death. But she was said to have changed
her statement after doctors at the National Hospital
conducted an examination on corpse, which
confirmed that the deceased had slept with a woman
shortly before his demise.
The sources said after the test, the banker admitted
to interrogators that she had actually slept with the
deceased and had helped him to clean up, following
which he went into the bathroom, where he suddenly
fell and began to vomit blood. Police investigators
who inspected the lawmaker’s house had succeeded
in recovering some items, including a bottle of water,
which the deceased lawmaker had drank from some
tissue papers and the clothes the deceased had worn
earlier in the day, Sunday Trust gathered.
When our reporters visited the banker’s private
residence located at Kado Estate in Abuja, two of her
professional friends, who spoke on the condition of
anonymity, said the banker and Raphael had been
friends. They, however, denied knowledge of the
lawmaker’s death.
An investigation by Sunday Trust also revealed that
although the late lawmaker was married, his wife and
children were not living with him in Abuja.
As at press time, there was no official statement from
his family or the House, but a lawmaker in the Lower
Chamber confirmed the lawmaker’s demise. He
added, however, that the House would make an
official statement until it received formal notification
from Nomiye’s family.
“I heard of his death, but we’re yet to get any official
statement from his family or any doctor. The House
will make an official statement when it eventually
receives confirmation from his family,” said the
source.
When contacted, the Deputy Chairman of the House
of Representatives Committee on Media and
Publicity, Victor Ogene, said he was yet to get an
official confirmation of the death and, as such,
wouldn’t comment on it.

Crime / My Abductors Asked For N100m, I Offered N1bn – GUO Motors Boss by bankwalter: 8:19am On Nov 12, 2013
The Chairman of G. U. O. Motors Limited,
Chief Godwin Okeke, yesterday, commenced his
evidence-in-chief at an Onitsha High Court in
Anambra State, presided over by Justice Chudi
Nwankwo, in respect of his abduction by kidnappers
in Onitsha on Sunday, August 23, 2009.
Okeke who spoke under oath, shortly after the court
granted a motion to file and serve additional prove of
evidence with respect to one of the suspected
kidnappers, Alexander Onyinanya, filed by the
prosecution counsel, Chris Ajugwe with Mrs. N. D.
Wilcox.
He narrated his encounter with the kidnappers at the
All Saints Anglican Church Cathedral, Onitsha when
he went for a Sunday worship with his wife, driver
and some family members.
How he was abducted:
Led in the evidence by his counsel, Okeke stated that
he went for 7 a.m. service which ended at about 10
a.m, adding that between 10.30 and 11 a.m., his wife
mounted the steering of his Nissan Amanda Spots
Utility Van, SUV, and was driving towards the church
gate when suddenly, gunmen blocked the car with a
bus in front and a Mercedes Benz car at the rear.
Okeke told the court that before he could ask
questions, the gunmen started shooting sporadically,
adding that even though he managed to disarm one
or two of them, they shattered his left leg, over-
powered him, drove away his wife and family
members before bundling him into his SUV and
zoomed off with the abductors’ vehicles following.
He further told the court that they passed through
Awka Road and at Limca Road, they met a traffic
gridlock but his abductors shot sporadically into the
air to scare the commuters before they continued
their movement up to Nkpor junction where he said
they met some policemen and exchanged fire with
them.
getting to
somewhere between Adazi-Enu and Neni
communities in Anaocha Local Government Area of
the state, they drove into a bungalow, rounded up
the occupants, who were mainly children, locked
them up in one of the rooms and kept me inside the
living room.
“I removed my shirt and tied my bleeding leg as part
of measures to control the blood gushing out from
the bullet wound. At a stage, I became thirsty and
requested them to give me water to drink. Two of the
abductors, Emeka Eze and Anthony Ifeanyi Okafor
were with me while others were outside monitoring
movements.”
He said the duo with him advised him not to drink
water because of his bullet wound but he insisted on
drinking and eventually they gave him the water
which he drank.
He said: “I overheard those outside asking the
detained children where they kept oil, salt and other
condiments because at that point, they had started
cooking breadfruit meal for lunch.
I offered them N1bn, instead of N100m
“After eating the breadfruit meal, they praised me for
my courage and for accepting their food, unlike other
victims who usually refuse to eat during their
captivity.”
He said they now asked him to get ready for
negotiation to which he paid attention.
“They told me that Chief Paul Okonkwor, Managing
Director of Pokobros Group West Africa Limited paid
them N70 million as ransom when they kidnapped
him, while Chief Anthony Enukeme, Managing
Director of Tonimas Oil Limited paid them N80
million during his own time and told me to pay them
N100 million.
“I replied them promptly that Okonkwor and
Enukeme are millionaires, while I am a billionaire,
and offered them N1 billion, instead of N100 million.
“The offer gave them special joy as they now
dropped their weapons by the side, relaxed and
asked me how and when the money would get to
them to which I told them that the money was in the
bank.”
At this stage, Justice Nwankwo ordered him to stop
for the day till the next adjourned date.

Celebrities / Re: Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde Conferred With Chieftaincy Title in Ondo by bankwalter: 10:53pm On Nov 09, 2013
victorv12: I'm not her fan. A married woman that exposes herself to different men in search of fame...Infact, she doesn't have the cultural Yoruba features in her, and most of her movies. Maybe it's because of the way she act promiscuous in her movies. Watching these Nollyhood movies is asif someone is watching a soft p*rn.

To our Ondo people, what's the meaning of Osemawe bestowed on her? Because our rulers loves dishing out titles that's meant for decent cultured Nigerians to whores, plunderers and saboteurs. No wonder someone like Achebe turned down the national awards over and over!

U sure nEed an enlightenment young man, first and foremost omosexy is adjudge as d most decent among all her contemporaries (Gene, Rita, mercy, iniedo jst to mention bt few) in Nollywood.
She's perhaps the only one or one of d few enjoying a gud matrimony (if u like call it stable). She's also a UN ambassador. Responsible and humble and well cultured.
Secondly, its an award nt a chieftancy title, she was giving the honorary award been an indigene of Ondo town (Ondo ambassador).

pharmow: Astonishingly beautiful

And what makes this snake more attractive is the fact that it is not venomous...............

Just a quick enlightenment: I know many people in Naija when they hear or see anything called snake, it creates an adrenalin rush and the next line of action is to kill the poor creature. Need I let you know that for a snake that is a non-venomous, its bite is safer than a dog's, cat's or rodents bites because snakes don't have saliva and any bite from a non-venomous snake will not inject virus or bacteria into the blood stream
How on earth will u knw a non venomous snake on seeing one?
Culture / Cultism Openly Embraced By Edo State Goverment As They Hold Security Summit. by bankwalter: 8:33am On Oct 14, 2013
Cultists hold ‘security summit’ in Edo

Against the background of incessant
kidnappings and other violent crimes in Edo State,
members of various cult groups in the state came
together in Benin, weekend, in a move they said was
to tackle insecurity in the state.
However, the cult groups during their summit with
the theme Interactive Peace Summit: Strategy for
Social Cohesion, which held at the Sand Beach
Resorts, Benin, expressed dissatisfaction with threats
posed to Edo and other neighboring states due to the
activities of kidnappers, armed robbery gangs and
other criminal activities. They resolved to tackle
them.
Represented
Some of the cult groups represented by at the
summit included Green Circuit (Maphites), Norsemen
(Vikings), , Eiye Confraternity, Family
Fraternity of Nigeria and Avarian Organisation of
Nigeria.
Also in attendance were representatives of Governor
Adams Oshiomhole; the Iyase (traditional Prime
Minister) of BeninKingdom, Chief Sam Igbe;
representatives of the Edo State Commissioner of
Police and that of AIG Zone 5 Benin and
representatives of the Director, Department of State
Services.
Others were representatives of the Commandant of
Civil Defence and Security Corps, Edo State
Neighbourhood Watch Council and the OC, SIB, AIG
Zone 5.
Chairman of the Consolidated Forum, Donald Edeo-
ghon, while acknowledging the damage done by
activities of the group, however expressed hope that
the coalition of the groups would help in checking
crime in the state.
He said: “If you remember, for over two decades,
inter-group conflicts, which often resulted in violent
and fatal crises, were the attributes of EdoState
communities.
“Innocent lives and property of inestimable worth are
destroyed on a whim.
“Armed robbery, kidnapping, thuggery and sundry
social vices rose to unprecedented levels; it became
dangerous to reside and function legitimately in
EdoState and in particular, Benin.
“The situation looked bad, but then came the
platform of Rainbow Consolidated Forum with a
template for all seasons.”
Chief Igbe expressed joy at what he witnessed and
called on the groups not to disappoint, saying “you
know I am going to brief the Oba on what I have
witnessed here today.”
