BlackBerry’s iconic physical QWERTY keyboards have always made it easier for users to create polished, professional communications with exceptional accuracy.

Politics › The Board Of Editors For THISDAY Newspapers Projects Buhari Winner by baseg25(op): 1:59pm On Mar 31, 2015 |
With the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announcing collated results for the presidential election from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, and having analysed the state and local government areas' results in the possession of THISDAY reporters from around the country, The Board of Editors of THISDAY calls this presidential elections in favour of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Major-General Muhammadu Buhari. THISDAY Newspapers can comfortably project that Buhari has won the 2015 presidential election. While both Buhari and President Goodluck Jonathan have satisfied the constitutionally required 1/3 in 24 states, General Buhari's current majority is unassailable by any results still to be declared. We congratulate President Goodluck Jonathan for giving Nigeria the legacy of free and fair elections and urge him to immediately concede. We congratulate General Buhari for a hard won victory after four attempts at the presidency, and urge him to not only be magnanimous in victory but give Jonathan's supporters - especially the minorities - comfort. The Editors of THISDAY urge all Nigerians that the time for healing has begun. source: http:// www.thisdaylive.com/articles/the-board-of-editors-for-thisday-newspapers-projects-buhari-winner/205569/ |

Bandits, numbering about 10, struck in Owo town in Ondo State on Thursday, robbing several banks and killing a bank manager. Our correspondent gathered that the armed robbers killed the Manager of one of the raided banks in the town and a bank staff during the robbery operation. it was learnt that the deceased, whose identities were yet to be ascertained, were shot by the robbers when they refused to cooperate with them. Residents said the armed robbers, who came into the town through the Abuja-Owo road area at about 5pm, started shooting sporadically into the air until they got to the heart of the town, where they robbed three branches of new generation banks. It was also learnt that some bystanders, who were caught in the attack, were either killed or seriously injured. A resident, who would not want to be named, said the incident took place with policemen in sight, who could not challenge the robbers. The hoodlums escaped with an undisclosed amount of money carted from the banks after two hours of operation. source : www.channelstv.com/2015/03/26/several-banks-in-owo-ondo-state-attacked-by-robbers/www.punchng.com/news/updated-robbers-kill-manager-others-in-owo-bank-robbery/ |

https://techcribng.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/com-is-30-techcribng.jpgThirty years ago, the .com Internet domain was born. In case you're not familiar, the companies and organizations that hand out Internet addresses use top-level domains like .com to organize the addresses. While it seems difficult to remember a time when .COM didn’t exist, the exponential growth of the industry has been relatively recent. In 1985, only six domains were registered. That number grew to 223 in 1990 and 9,005 in 1995, but exploded to over 20 million in 2000. In early 2015, more than 116 million domains were registered. On March 15, 1985, the first .COM was registered to symbolics.com. This turning point marked the beginning of an industry that revolutionized business and entertainment on an international level. Readily available information at our fingertips has dramatically impacted daily life. Today, nearly three billion users access .COM domains each day. From personal websites and dating sites to online shopping, social media, and news sites, the .COM invention sparked a variety of other domains, such as .EDU, .GOV, .NET and .ORG.
https://techcribng.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/web-address-anniversary-techcribng.jpg
With more than 3 trillion users accessing sites each day, the .COM domain created a platform for some of the world’s most influential people and companies to showcase and promote their brands. Take a look at these stats of .COM users. Geekzone reports that , From Amazon.com, which registered its domain name in 1994, and Google, which registered Google.com as a domain name in 1997, to small and mid-sized businesses more recently registered, such as Enduracenter.com, NaturallyCoolKids.com, or PantryFullofRecipes.com, which was registered in 2015, .COM is the global online standard for doing business. .COM addresses are your best choice for making your online identity recognizable, easily found and trusted on the global Internet.
".COM is more than just an address. It's a globally recognized and respected brand itself that nearly every major global brand, including 100 percent of the Fortune 500, has entrusted with their online presence," said Jim Bidzos, executive chairman, president and chief executive officer at Verisign. ".COM turning 30 represents a shared milestone for us all and a celebration worth commemorating."
While Internet growth and adoption has been primarily concentrated in North America for the last 30 years, today, Internet users in North America account for 19 percent of the total number of Internet users globally. As global Internet adoption and growth is accelerating outside of North America, .COM's global brand appeal, instant recognizability and rapid growth in overseas markets illustrates .COM's growth in parallel with Internet adoption. source : http://techcribng.com/happy-birthday-com-celebrating-30-years-of-internet-history/ |

HyDef: A fine machine indeed. I'm not one for Apple products, but it looks good.
The biggest issue is USB-C. I have to lay $80 down for a dongle? Well, I just paid over a $1,300 for a laptop like that, so I guess it's not too bad to those who can afford such.
Another issue though is that you'll have to buy all sorts of ridiculous new accessories just so you can plug them into the USB-C port. New HDMI cable and all other cables you know. Anything that uses USB, you have 2 options, buy the dongle, or buy new accessories. true talk bro. |

Computers › Meet Apple’s New Macbook by baseg25(op): 5:33pm On Mar 11, 2015 |
[b] Apple unveiled a new type of laptop at its March 9 event: the MacBook, with no "Pro" or "Air" or any other suffix. https://techcribng.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/apples-new-macbook-feature-techcribng.png At just 13.1mm at its thickest point, the laptop is Apple's thinnest ever, and it features a redesigned keyboard, too. To top things off, it has a single port for practically everything — the USB-C connector can supply power, connect to USB devices as well as extend to a separate display (the laptop still has a headphone jack, too). Forget all your wires and cables.
The most interesting part is , , You won't need them if you buy Apple's new MacBook -- it only has two ports. Here's what you need to know
1. The body is tapered like the MacBook Air. At its thickest, the new 12-inch MacBook is 13.1mm high (about half an inch) -- 24% thinner than the existing 11-inch MacBook Air.
"Can you even see it? I can't even see it," Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, said on stage at an Apple event Monday afternoon, holding a closed laptop.
2. It weighs two pounds. For comparison, the MacBook Air weighs almost two-and-a-half pounds. The iPad Air 2 weighs just under one pound.
3. Taking a page from the iPhone design book, the new, all-metal body MacBook comes in three different colors: silver, gray, and gold.
4. The new MacBook is fanless, which is partly why the laptop is so thin and light.
5. There are only two ports. One is a headphone port, and the other port is for a new kind of USB connector called the USB-C. The USB-C port is about a third of the size of a standard USB port, and serves as a single connection point to charge the laptop's batteries, transfer data, and transmit video.
For consumers who want to use their existing, standard USB devices with the laptop, this new USB format will most likely be a pain point. An adapter dongle for the USB-C port costs $80 on the Apple store.
6. Apple has also redesigned the keyboard, which now extends to the edges of the laptop. The keyboard has also been updated to respond to lighter touches, meaning less pounding when typing. The surface of each key is also 17% larger and is lit by individual LED lights underneath "for more precise illumination," Schiller said.
7. The computer's track pad also got a nice upgrade. Like the new Apple Watch, the track pad is now powered by Apple's new Taptic Engine, which picks up on how forceful a touch or tap is. For example, instead of clicking repeatedly on the fast forward button on Quicktime to speed up a video, you only need to press down on the new track pad a little longer and harder than a tap to achieve the same goal.
8. On stage at the event, Schiller said the new MacBook is the "world's most energy-efficient notebook." The laptop's Intel Core M processor consumes five watts of power, and its newly designed and contoured battery cells have 35% more capacity.
9. The new MacBook has a battery life of up to 10 hours.
10. The cost for a new 12-inch MacBook 1.1 GHz dual-core Intel Core M processor with 256GB of flash storage starts $1,299. A 12-inch 1.2 GHz dual-core Intel Core M processor MacBook with 512GB of flash storage starts at $1,599.

Google gave Android Lollipop fans something to lick their lips about Monday — an update of its popular operating system with some nifty additions. https://techcribng.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Android-5.1-techcribng.jpg Android 5.1 includes the usual stability and performance improvements as well as new features like support for multiple SIM cards, device protection and high definition (HD) voice on compatible phones.
https://techcribng.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Android-Lollipop-5.1-techcribng.png “Whether you want to share your phone with a family member or better manage your mobile costs, Android Lollipop 5.1 now lets you use more than one SIM card on a device with multiple SIM slots,” Google Android Platform vice-president Dave Burke wrote in a blog post.
“We hope you enjoy these tasty additions to Android Lollipop as you get more out of your Android phone and tablet.”
The update also includes device protection so when a user loses their phone, or it is stolen, it will remain locked until he or she signs in with his or her Google account — even if someone else were to reset the device to factory settings. The feature will be available on most Android phones and tablets running Android 5.1 as well as on Nexus 6 and Nexus 9.
The new version of Lollipop offers high definition voice calling between compatible Android 5.1 devices as well as the ability to join Wi-Fi networks. source : http://techcribng.com/android-5-1-arrives-with-hd-calling-and-safeguards-for-stolen-phones/ |

Smartphones are taking over the cellphone market. As of January 2014, 58 percent of American adults had a smartphone, according to a report from the Pew Research Internet Project. For the first time in three years, the iPhone is the world’s top selling smartphone. https://techcribng.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/iphone-6-and-6-plus-techcribng.jpg According to a report by CNN, Apple sold a record 74.8 million iPhones in the fourth quarter of 2014, giving it 20.4% of the global smartphone market, according to new research from Gartner. That was enough to push Apple (AAPL, Tech30) ahead of Samsung (SSNLF), which had 19.9% of the market in the quarter. The last time Apple held the top spot was in the fourth quarter of 2011. The blockbuster sales of iphones also pushed overall smartphone sales over 1 billion for the first time ever. In 2014, there were 1.2 billion smartphones sold worldwide, up 28% from 2013. Overall, smartphones accounted for two thirds of all mobile phone sales last year. https://techcribng.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/iphones-techcribng.jpg Apple’s breakthrough came on the heels of a deal with China’s biggest mobile provider, China Mobile (CHL). That deal benefited Apple in a big way, with sales in China surging 70% last quarter. Making such gigantic inroads in China was once believed impossible. Apple’s brand did not hold the same cache as some Chinese smartphone makers, including Xiaomi, Lenovo (LNVGF) and Huawei. And those brands heavily discount their phones, making them far more accessible to the masses than the iPhone. Apple also rolled out the new iPhone 6 to other countries faster than it had in previous years which helped boost sales. The iPhone 6 is available in 130 countries. Apple also said its supplier efficiencies helped the company manufacture 7 million more iPhones than it had expected to make last quarter. But the iPhone’s expected success isn’t solely due to China, the global market or supply chains. The iPhone 6 has proven extremely popular with customers who were holding out for a bigger Apple smartphone. The 4.7-inch screen competes much better with some larger Android smartphones, and the superior camera has helped some would-be defectors stick with the iPhone brand. New york post edittor also report that , Despite losing ground in the fourth quarter, Samsung still held the biggest share of the mobile market for all of 2014, selling 392 million units. That was more than double the 191 million iPhones sold by Apple. Total smartphone sales surged 28 percent to 1.2 billion units in 2014, representing two-thirds of sales. source : http://techcribng.com/iphone-is-the-worlds-top-selling-smartphone/ |

ISIS is calling for the murder of Twitter founder Jack Dorsey because of his social network’s frequent blocking of the terrorist group’s accounts. ISIS is also asking supporters across the globe to kill Twitter employees. “Your virtual war on us will cause a real war on you,” a post from ISIS supporters addressed to Twitter founder Jack Dorsey reads. https://techcribng.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/isis-threaten-twitter-founder-techcribng.png “You started this failed war. We told you from the beginning it’s not your war, but you didn’t get it and kept closing our accounts on Twitter, but we always come back. “But when our lions [brave men] come and take your breath, you will never come back to life.” Although it is not known who penned the post, which is written in Arabic, the intent was clear. The threatening words were accompanied by a picture of Dorsey that had been made to appear he is in the cross sights of a gun. Twitter is taking the threats seriously. A spokesman for the micro-blogging site told BuzzFeedits “security team is investigating the veracity of these threats with relevant law enforcement officials.” Twitter’s terms of service specifically prohibits users from posting “direct, specific threats of violence against others.” Also banned is use of Twitter “for any unlawful purposes or in furtherance of illegal activities.” But ISIS obviously does not believe Twitter’s rules should apply to its members. The fight began last year when Twitter CEO Dick Costolo confirmed the company was banning accounts that had been posting images of the murder of journalist James Foley. source : http://techcribng.com/isis-threatens-life-of-twitter-founder-jack-dorsey/ |

Phones › Samsung Unveils Sleek New Galaxy Phones To Battle Apple by baseg25(op): 10:14am On Mar 02, 2015 |
Samsung Electronics, the South Korean tech giant, unveiled its latest Galaxy S6 smartphones, featuring a slim body made from aircraft-grade metal, in a bid to reclaim its position as the undisputed global smartphone leader from Apple. Designed from scratch in an operation dubbed "Project Zero", the Galaxy S6 and its curved-edges variant are critical for Samsung's plans to reverse plunging smartphone revenues that led to its first annual earnings fall in three years in 2014. https://techcribng.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/samsung-galaxy-s6_techcribng.jpg
Reuters explain that, A warm initial reception sent Samsung shares on Monday to their highest in nearly nine months. Some technology publications described the phones as Samsung's best-looking to date after its previous flagship device, the Galaxy S5, failed to impress.
The shares closed up 4.9 percent, outperforming a 0.6 percent rise for the broader market.
"We listen to our customers and we learn from our missteps," J.K. Shin, Samsung's mobile chief, told a packed hall in Barcelona ahead of the annual Mobile World Congress trade show, where the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge were unveiled on Sunday.
By some estimates, arch-rival Apple surpassed Samsung as the world's top smartphone maker in the fourth quarter, with record sales of the big-screen iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.
Samsung begins its fight-back on April 10 when the revamped Galaxy phones go on sale in 20 countries in one of the most important product launches in the company's history.
Stand-out features include a casing made from light-weight metal used in airplanes, a step up from the plastic that disappointed many critics of the S5, and Corning Inc's Gorilla Glass on both front and back.
In addition to camera and screen upgrades, Samsung stripped out many of its unpopular in-house apps that infuriated users by gobbling up memory. The new phones will be powered by Samsung's own 64-bit, 14-nanometer Exynos processors, a departure from its previous reliance on Qualcomm Inc's chips.
In another departure, batteries in the new phones cannot be replaced. To compensate, the devices are the first from Samsung to support wireless charging without a dedicated accessory and can also get four hours of power with a 10-minute charge by cord.
Samsung is also touting the Galaxy S6's compatibility with a new mobile payments system it is preparing to launch in the United States and South Korea in the second half of this year.
The system, in partnership with major U.S. banks and credit card companies including Visa and MasterCard, will allow users to make mobile payments through magnetic strip-card readers without an external accessory needed for other models.
The rival Apple Pay system, launched in the United States in September and rapidly winning retailer support, requires merchants to install near-field card readers, limiting its reach as contactless credit cards have been slow to take off there.
