I have been thinking about what "greeting" truly represents. Some see it as a sign of respect which the younger children must pay to their elders while others see it as just a mere wish.

To me good; morning, afternoon, evening, night are all good wishes for a fulfilled day and I can tell it to anyone irrespective of age and size without necessarily waiting for them to say it first.

How do you see greeting, is it just a sign of respect that younger ones should only give to their elders or just a mere wish which anyone could give to anyone?
