How many projects do you know me to have supported in Enugu state? Hundreds maybe. How many more do you know me to be planning now? Thousands more. I have done more in developing Enugu state than most governors. How has Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi efforts helped Enugu state more than mine before we placed him on top of our resources?

But my village has been abandoned. And you want me to support more projects that will develop other parts of Enugu state while neglecting some parts?

Did I ever mention Nomeh votes make governors? Yet they float in and beg for our votes each election period?

We should not suppress other people's political views because it is different from ours.

I think this is the right thing to do. If i can get an APGA party candidate make a promise to give my Nomeh village road an asphalt finish, I will throw my resources in his support. PDP seems to be going deaf in Enugu. These guys are becoming too comfortable in their inefficiency.

The nation’s electricity woes have worsened as generation from its biggest power station, Egbin, plunged to a record low of 172 megawatts on Tuesday, down from 1,085MW on March 15.

Eight of the nation’s 26 power plants were idle on Tuesday, according to industry data obtained by our correspondent.

Generation from Egbin, which is located in Lagos, with an installed capacity of 1,320MW, was said to have been limited to 172MW largely due to gas supply shortages.



Its units ST3, 4 and 5 were out due to gas constraints; ST1 was said to have tripped on generator CB trouble, and ST2 was not on spinning reserve due to a management decision.

The nation recorded a total system collapse on Thursday, November 24, the second time this month and the 20th time this year, the data showed.

The total national power generation fell to 3,224MW on Tuesday, down from 3,574.2MW on Monday.

Eight of the nation’s power generating plants, including Olorunsogo II in Ogun State and Ibom Power in Cross River, were completely idle on Tuesday.

Other plants, which did not generate any megawatts of electricity as of Tuesday, were Afam IV & V, Rivers IPP, Trans-Amadi, AES, ASCO and Gbarain.

Olorunsogo’s units GT1, 2, 3, 4 and ST2 were said to be out due to gas constraints, while ST1 was out on maintenance.

The GT1 unit of Ibom Power was out on guide vane problem, while GT2 and 3 were out due to maintenance of the gas station for 45 days since October 21.

Twelve units of Afam IV & V were said to have been de-commissioned and scrapped; units GT13, 14, 15 and 16 were out on blade failure; GT17 and 18 were out due to burnt generator transformer, while GT19 and 20 were awaiting major overhaul.

River IPP’s unit GT1 was reportedly out due to gas constraints, while Trans-Amadi’s GT1, 2 and 4 were out due to gas constraints and GT3 out on fault.

The AES was said to be out of production; ASCO’s GT1 was shut down due to leakage in the furnace, and Gbarain’s GT2 was out due to gas constraints.

well, I personally do not think so.

I say this because I believe that what might be considered a 'severe blow' to one person, might just be a minor setback in reality, it all depends on what the person considers to be his/her primary interest.

for instance, as long as BAT has Lagos, he can recover from ANY other loss. for him, Lagos is the key, every other expansion was just a political adventure/misadventure, important no doubt, but can be written off as a bad investment.

he lost the battles for senate, HoR, ministerial appointments...

but he won the wars for retaining Lagos, getting Oyegun as Chairman APC (turning sour though), PMB as president.

as long as Lagos is a safe haven for him, he will recover from anything... except of course PMB decides to unleash the security forces on BAT...

This is what is obtainable even now. Get rich and you are in the opposition party then EFCC will visit you. This is the method that will be used in 2019. If you are rich and famous in the opposition you better relocate more especially if you are from the Southern part of the nation

Acting Chairman /Chief Executive Officer, Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Anthony Akah, has said that if care is not taken, the shortfall in the power sector will hit N3 trillion by the end of this year. Akah revealed this in a statement over the weekend.

“This is like a doom’s day scenario because if care is not taken, shortfall in power sector will hit N3 trillion by end of 2016. The reason is lack of revenue attributed to the services provided but don’t get paid for”, he said. In October, Nigeria Electricity Hub, an initiative of Nextier Power, said that the Nigerian electricity supply market will record an estimated N1 trillion shortfall by December 2016, which could lead to systemic bankruptcy and a risk of nationwide blackout if left unresolved.

The CEO of Niger Delta Power Holding (NDPHC), Chiedu Ugbo, also stated that since the establishment of the company’s first power plant in 2011, estimated energy invoiced by the eight power plants currently amounted to N235.4 billion. Of this estimate, about 55.3 percent, he explained, has been paid while the remaining 44.7 percent is still outstanding and owed by the Discos, and as of August 2016, debts owed the company by the market stood at N105 billion. “The implication is far reaching: capacity utilisation, low productivity, inability to meet obligations, asset replacement issues and finally it challenges them as a going concern,” the NDPHC boss said. While speaking, Akah described the huge shortfall as a “doom’s day scenario”, saying it came about as a result of services rendered by the different strata of the sector yet-to-be paid for by consumers. He mentioned power theft, metre by-pass, unpaid bills as some of the causes for the shortfall. He then explained that power loses are usually estimated and added to the bills/tarrifs of those customers with metres.

The Chief Execusive Officer, Association of Nigerian Electricity Distributors (ANED), Azu Obiaya, had earlier assessed the liquidity challenge from the perspective of the Discos. Discos are experiencing a revenue shortfall of N38 billion monthly and that the government alone, through its ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs), currently owes the Discos about N58 billion, he said. This, the ANED CEO said, could amount to N309 billion by the end of the year, and that the Discos’ books no longer reflect cash flows that were necessary for lenders to accept funding their ongoing projects.

He also noted that as of December 2015, the Discos were experiencing a revenue shortfall of N298 billion due to the non-cost reflectivity of MYTO.0, a tariff plan then in force in the power sector in Nigeria.

As a result of this, the NERC approved electricity tariff increases to raise liquidity for the sector but its implementation was suspended for about six months, resulting in losses of about N13 billion for the Discos. Apart from these, other losses are coming through inflation of the naira and its weakness against major international currencies as well as from pipeline vandalism.

Taraba State Governor Darius Ishaku, elder-statesman Gen. Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (rtd), and 10 other illustrious sons of Jukunland have been penciled for honours award at a ceremony being organised by the Jukun Development Association of Nigeria (JDAN), in Lagos.

The National President of JDAN Chief Bako Benjamin who disclosed this to journalists said the event specially tailored to coincide with TY Danjuma’s 78th birthday.

Bako said the award is meant to encourage and motivate Jukun sons and daughters who have used their exalted positions in the society, to improve the lives of their people and address the unacceptable level underdevelopment and marginalisation in Jukunland.



According to him, while Gen. TY Danjuma is being honoured for always being there for Jukun people and helping the less privileged, the Taraba State Governor Darius Ishaku is being honoured for restoring peace back to Southern Taraba and developing the state despite scarce and limited resources.

He called on the Federal Government to set aside political differences and compliment the efforts of the state governor in the area of security to re-position the state for growth and peace.

The Jukun President observed that the occasion would also help draw attention to the deplorable neglect of Jukun people, adding that his people have never had it so bad in terms of federal appointments and projects despite the fact that their son, TY Danjuma contributed immensely to the emergence of the government in power.

Bako lamented the continued ravaging of Jukunland by Fulani herdsmen which have led to the suspension of farming activities in Jukunland and admonished President Muhammadu Buhari to take immediate action to avert genocide.

Among other eminent Jukun sons honoured with the prestigious JDAN Award for Excellence alongside Gen T.Y. Danjuma and Governor Darius Ishaku are member House of Representatives (representing Wukari/Ibi Federal Constituency), Hon. Danjuma Shiddi, and the Managing Director of National Biotechnology Agency of Nigeria Mr. Josiah Bitrus Habu.

Others are; Mrs. Gloria Atta, Mr. Haruna Musa Ando Danjuma, Mr. Sale Yavala, Mr Agbu Samaila, Mr Zanau Hassan Maikasuwa, Emmanuel Agada, Alhaji Ali Sani Kona, Alhaji Sadiq Magani, Mrs. Mary Ogunleye and Barrister Bulus Danhabu.
