100naira: For prospective ocean 2 otondos, if you are by chance posted in fct for orientation, e no matter say na raining season we de(for my brothers from the east), the kind sun wey dey Kubwa so no be here at all so I suggest you prepare well both physically and mentally because on the day of arrival, parade na by 4pm sharp whether you finish registration or not. I also suggest that you come with your white and white plus canvas with space for your leg from house because the nonsense they share in camp de tear quickly and may not be your size else na to de look for your size upandan. Also if possible, carry your own khaki come to limit the stress involved in running upandan in maami for amendments.
The first week is usually the most stressful because soldiers wan make una feel them so you have to be ready to move when you here the sound of the beagle or the whistle. We did parade 3 times the day before the swearing in ceremony and plenty people faint well well for the first week so also chop bellefull and drink enough water. To avoid doing frog jump early in the morning because you didn't leave the hostel on time, it's better that you wake up by 3-3:30am to bathe and dress up. For guys that will stay in either peace, dignity, loyalty and humility hostels prepare your leggediz Benz because to waka reach where you de register or chop food(indomie hall) na long distance oo, even to go maami.
Be ready for extreme heat and numerous mosquitoes(if you are using a new mosquitos net please wash before you use to avoid stories that touch) be ready for countless sleeps, boring lectures, standing under the sun for hours, tiredness, your feet paining you a lot, sitting on the ground, squatting, rolling on the ground(for some), flexing in maami (for the ones with enough bar), platoon competitions, man o war drills which will include climbing high rope steps and walls(if you can't do no do), social nights etc. Note if you can't afford to eat in maami, camp food is decent enough. I can relate to this. I was in Platoon 1. What about you? |

Politics › Senate Gives Osinbajo Ultimatum To Submit Budgets Of Revenue Generating Agencies by Baze1(op): 1:13pm On May 17, 2017 |
The Senate has issued a two-week ultimatum to acting President Yemi Osinbajo to ensure submission of the budgets of 31 public establishments, including the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and the Nigerian Ports Authority, to the National Assembly in line with the provisions of the Nigerian Constitution and the Fiscal Responsibility Act.
The Senate, following a motion by the Deputy Leader, Bala Na’Allah on Wednesday, also resolved that the concerned agencies should stop further spending pending compliance.
Many Senators, including Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu; Solomon Adeola, APC-Lagos; George Sekibo, PDP-Rivers; James Manager, PDP-Delta; Barnabas Gemade, APC-Benue, took swipe on the agencies for disregarding the law and spending “trillions”, in sum, without appropriation. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/231472-breaking-senate-gives-osinbajo-two-weeks-ultimatum-to-submit-budgets-of-revenue-generating-agencies.html

Moves by former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Mr Andrew Yakubu, to recover his $9.8m seized by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has hit the rock. The Federal High Court in Kano refused to grant the ex GMD’s application for overturn the interim order of forfeiture given to the EFCC Ruling on the application filed Yakubu’s lawyer, Ahmad Raji, Justice Zainab Abubakar said the court has jurisdiction to hear the case, contrary to the argument of Mr. Raji. The judge also said that the application seeking to set aside the case lacks basic legal framework and that the EFCC is competent according to Section 29 of its Act to seek for the order of interim forfeiture. The EFCC had on February 13, 2017 secured the Federal High Court order on the forfeiture of the over $9.8 million retrieved from Mr. Yakubu’s house in Kaduna. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/05/breaking-ex-nnpc-gmd-yakubu-loses-bid-retrieve-forfeited-9-8m/ |

The Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOP, Nnamdi Kanu, Monday vowed to challenge his stringent bail conditions, saying they were unconstitutional. He also said that he would never give up his agitation for the restoration of Biafran Republic, pointing out that he wanted the reward for his agitation in this world and not when dies and goes to heaven. Kanu spoke in Enugu when paid a “Thank You” visit to the leadership of the Eastern Consultative Assembly, ECA. The ECA appointed Kanu its leader in absentia when he was being detained at Kuje Prisons with Chief (Mrs) Maria Okwo as his deputy among others. The IPOB leader was received by top members of the ECA, including Mrs. Okwor and Evang. Music/Radio › Nigeria’s Femi Kuti Breaks World Saxophone Record ON May by Baze1(op): 6:59pm On May 08, 2017 |
Femi Kuti has broken the World record for the longest single note held on a saxophone at the New Africa Shrine. He attained the feat on Sunday at the New Africa Shrine as shared by his sister, Yeni Anikulapo-Kuti on her Instagram page @yenikuti; “This evening 7th May at the New Africa Shrine, Femi Kuti broke the world record for the longest single note on a saxophone note set in 1997 by Kenny G. The record stood at 45mins 37 seconds….Femi did 46mins 38seconds!! Give it up, we have a world champ. This was witnessed by a large audience that included Sen. Ben Murray-Bruce, the deputy high commissioners of Netherlands and The United Kingdom.“ The record was previously first set in December, 1997 by legendary saxophonist Kenny G when he held an E-Flat for over 45 minutes. Kenny G was reported to have used a technique called Circular Breathing, which keeps a steady stream of air flowing through the saxophone even as the player breathes. For Femi Kuti, it is unclear yet what technique he used or even, the member of the sax family he used to achieve the massive feat. He started playing the sax when he was 15 and joined his father’s band “The Egypt 80.” He later formed his own band, “Positive Force’’ in the late 80s. Femi, four-time Grammy award nominee, is skilled on other musical instruments including the trumpet and the piano. According to media reports, Femi awaits an official recognition by the Guinness World Record. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/05/nigerias-femi-kuti-breaks-world-saxophone-record/

Politics › Breaking: More Chibok Girls Released by Baze1(op): 10:00pm On May 06, 2017 |
ABUJA, Nigeria (AP) — A Nigerian official says more of the Chibok schoolgirls have been released three years after their abduction by Boko Haram extremists, though the exact number is not immediately known. The official spoke on condition of anonymity late Saturday because they were not authorized to speak to reporters. Nearly 200 of the schoolgirls had remained captive before this release. Many of the girls seized from their boarding school were forced into marriages with fighters and became pregnant. Nigeria’s government in October announced the first negotiated release of 21 of the schoolgirls. At the time, it said another group of 83 girls would be released “very soon.” The government has denied a ransom was paid and that it freed some detained Boko Haram fighters in exchange for the girls. https://apnews.com/17a36f2c9cc94b818a9bba29fdf808ea?utm_campaign=SocialFlow&utm_source=Twitter&utm_medium=APCc lalastical Mynd44

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has directed Primary HealthCare Board (PHCB) to extend the ongoing vaccination against cerebral meningitis to schools and residents in the six area councils. The FCT Permanent Secretary, Dr Babatope Ajakaiye gave the directive in Abuja on Friday during a meeting with chairmen of the area councils and other stakeholders. Ajakaiye urged officers, schools and residents of the territory to make themselves available for the exercise to prevent spread of the disease. He warned that government would not hesitate to arrest and prosecute defiant. “This is part of the proactive measures to forestall the spread of meningitis in the FCT,’’ he said. The permanent secretary called on parents and religious organisations to always make their children and followers available for vaccination. Ajakaiye pledged determination of the FCTA to carry out policies and programmes aimed at enhancing the wellbeing of residents of the territory. He assured the people of the board’s readiness to provide financial intervention in the event of shortage of vaccines and other facilities. The permanent secretary noted that no responsible government would watch the lives of its citizens being ravaged by diseases that could be prevented. In his remarks, the Executive Secretary, PHCB, Dr Lurwanu Muhammad, promised that the board would do its best to provide effective and efficient healthcare delivery in the federal capital http://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/05/meningitis-fcta-directs-phcb-to-extend-vaccination-to-schools-residents/ |
