And the reconsideration is a letter explaining her situation. Based on what you have shared about I'll share a sample of what her reconsideration letter can look like below :

Reconsideration Request for Visitor Visa – Ms XYZ

Dear IRCC Officer,

I am writing to respectfully request a reconsideration of the refusal decision issued regarding my visitor visa application. After carefully reviewing the refusal letter and the officer’s notes, I believe there may have been some misinterpretation or oversight in the assessment of my documents. I wish to clarify the purpose of my travel, my strong ties to Nigeria, my financial and professional capacity, and the genuine, temporary nature of my intended visit.

Purpose of Visit and Strong Ties to Nigeria:
I applied to visit Canada briefly for personal and family reasons, after which I will promptly return to Nigeria. My life, career, and assets are firmly rooted here. I am a businesswoman with ongoing responsibilities that require my daily oversight, and I have no reason to overstay. I also maintain strong family ties in Nigeria, with dependents and close relatives who rely on me.

Financial Capacity:
The refusal cited insufficient documentation regarding my income and funds. However, I had submitted six months’ bank statements, e-tax clearance, business registration and operating letters, investment certificates, and property documents. My monthly earnings exceed ₦1 million consistently, which is more than enough to cover the costs of my travel. I also hold valid visas to the UK (2 years) and Italy, with previous travel history showing full compliance and timely return. These records clearly demonstrate both my financial ability and my respect for immigration laws.

Below is a list of documents I submitted in the initial application :

Six months’ personal and business bank statements showing consistent inflows
• E-tax clearance certificate
• Business registration and operating letters
• Investment certificates
• Land/property ownership documents
• Family information forms and dependents’ details
• Evidence of monthly income exceeding ₦1 million
• Previous travel history with valid visas (including a 2-year UK visa and Italy visa), with timely returns and full compliance

Final Appeal:
I believe my application reflects a genuine short-term visit, supported by financial sufficiency, strong family and economic ties, and a proven history of international compliance. I respectfully request that my application be reconsidered, as I am committed to returning to Nigeria after my planned visit.

Good day everyone, I thought to share an update on this application for the sake of the people that this information might be useful to. So this application was denied on June 26th, the couple were advised to apply for their parents alone and leave the siblings out of the application. They also got advised to submit a reconsideration request being that insufficient funds was stated as a denial reason but the funds were more than sufficient.

They tried to wait for gcms notes before submitting the reconsideration but till date the gcms is not out. They decided to close their eyes and submitted the reconsideration through a webform for the pry applicant(the dad) on 25th of July and start preparing to submit a fresh application.

Guess who woke up to a PPR mail on 31st of July, the dad only. However, his wife and 2 kids that all applied with him as a family remained denied so they reached out to IRCC and the customer representative they spoke with said even though they applied as a family, reconsideration requests for visitors visa should be submitted individually. So they proceeded to submit for the mum on Aug 5th and 8th and she received her own PPR on the 14th of August. Right now they have submitted for the 2 kids 2 days ago and awaiting updates from IRCC and we hope they are approved so they can attend their brother's wedding as well.

I thought to share this, if you feel you were denied wrongly. Try submitting a reconsideration request but that is if you feel you were wrongly denied ooo, we heard it's automatic denial for most people now and the reconsideration is helping them have a 2nd look and approve people that shouldn't have been denied in the 1st place.
Disclaimer : If you application was meant to be denied it will remain denied o, reconsideration doesn't mean everyone denied will get approved.

Moral lesson : Try submitting a reconsideration request today, you might be lucky to get approved and not have to spend the extra cost and go through the stress of gathering new documents for a new application cos for reconsideration you must prove your point with the same documents submitted for the initial application that was denied, you must not add any new document.

We really need the parents of the groom to attend the wedding as the bride to be's parents have been approved. What do you advise we do differently when reapply. The POF provided had over 70m for the 4 of them and they parents are well established back home which serves as ties. The siblings are also in school which are also good ties back home.

What can increase their chances of approval for the wedding please since the wedding date has passed and wedding postponed cos of the denial?

We included a lot of documents and explanations in the initial application that got denied such as :

great, attach
1)the tenancy agreement and state they would be staying with the couple to prove accommodation arrangements
2)yes they tend to believe proof of funds in CAD more, so the groom should show that as they are his parents and would be under his care. It doesn’t have to be much , 10k is more than enough for both of them.
I am glad to hear the wedding is genuine, I wish them happy married life.

Thank you, the marriage is nowhere near fake. People should know that not everyone out there is pressured about status, some people still have conscience and are willing to do it right 😊.

The parents would stay with the couple. The siblings won't be on the application this time. Also, the Parents already provided 79M POF is POF in CAD still necessary. Initial application included the brides PR card and grooms PGWP

Concerning your last statement, the wedding is genuine and the groom is working on his PR himself while dismissing suggestions from the bride to sponsor him, so it's not about that at all. It's even the fake weddings that rush without involving parents to speed up the process, they have been dating for about 2 years now.

He can try to add
1) accommodation arrangements for the parents
2) proof of funds in CAD for the parents from son
3) letter from bride with PR card to solidify the application

Lastly, I hope the marriage is genuine and this family is not just using the innocent lady to get permanent stay in Canada.

Pension is just additional proof to support home tie but not vital to add as long as you have demonstrated with other documentation that you have a job and currently working.

Some of the significant checks for a visit visa are proof of finance and a stable job or business that you are coming back to. For example, for a job, the visa officer would want to see a reference letter from your employer confirming that you are currently a staff in that establishment and if you have any documents to show approval of your leave, that will strengthen your case

Good morning house, please I will like to confirm, is submitting Payslip without employee and Employer pension as part of the documents for my visiting visa a red flag or it doesn't mean anything? Cos the pension slot on the Payslip is blank.

There is always a first time for everything and Family reunification is a good reason to travel.

Make sure you proof to the VO that you have a strong family and home ties in Nigeria that will enable you return.
These are few examples of H/F ties; If you are married and you are leaving your spouse and children behind, aged parents that are financially and emotionally dependent on you, your job/thriving business, landed properties, pension docs etc The list is exhaustive.

Pls what could be a valid reason for having no travel history, as for me I don't have and my reason for not having is that I haven't had the need to travel abroad for anything but right now, I want to visit my sibling in Canada as we haven't seen since he left naija in 2019, is this reason valid enough?

So many people have gotten their Visas without prior travel history. You really don’t have to travel to get your visa approved.

Just repackage your SOP with supporting documents to strengthen your home ties and state the responsibilities that has been holding you back from making an international trip. This will address the VO’s concerns.

A monikers VV on the SOWP forum was refused sometimes in January based on Purpose of visit, family ties and travel history. She reapplied few days after by doing what I suggested earlier and her visa was approved.

It is a delay not a denial! I wish you success in your next application.

Application submission: Feb 26th
Biometric letter: Feb. 27th
Capturing: March 3rd
BVL: March 10th
Passport request: March 10th.

I used the new link. I have no travel history. I used my two accounts to show POF. I have a married citizen brother who invited me. I will be there for the easther holiday.


So my question, can I deliver my passport in person at the Lagos office? I used them for the biometrics
