Fiscal federalism is way out – Briggs Niger Delta woman activist, Ann Kio Briggs, said: “I am not part of the people who are blowing up pipelines, but I’m part of those who are talking that something must change in the Niger Delta. We have been having this thing for a very long time and unless the issues are resolved, they will carry on; we need a resolution of the Niger Delta issue. And what are these issues, they are equity and justice. “The way forward, simply put, is fiscal federalism. You have a constitution that takes everything from a particular region and gives it to everybody, that is empty Niger Delta. You have a constitution that recognises that there are natural resources, but that same constitution claims that the natural resources belongs to me, but if it is oil and gas and any other natural resources, it does not belong to me anymore, the federal government becomes the owner. “So you have a situation where the Kaduna State governor is able to say he would bring in people to explore for gold, but yet, the governor of Rivers State cannot do same for the oil and gas deposits in his state. That is injustice.”

FXCRAFT:

People with different political affiliations making unguarded utterances.

The fundamental problem is the inequality in the running of Nigeria. No government has ruled this country without the North being part of the government. This cannot continue.

States that can't even pay salaries of their staff are in existence today because they are sure that once you grab federal power, the oil wealth is yours. Why else do they want NEDC? Where is the funding going to come from?

They do not want your petty surveillance contracts and they are not criminals. They have a just cause and it's only a matter of time before the Niger Deltans take to the streets to demand equity and justice.

Either they are liberated or we adopt true federalism. The present administration can only suppress them but not break them.

They have my sympathy. I will stand with them!
i don't know if you are a muslim or a christian but the God you serve will bless you abundantly for saying the truth.... you wish for Niger delta success so do i wish you success in whatever you will do .. Amen

Sweetlemon:
I expect to see my brothers dancing here. The idiots hailing these terrorists have even managed to console themselves that "as long as they are not killing people then they are fighting a good cause" I mean How will YOU eat when they finally achieve their aim of crippling the country? Do you now see how irredeemably Godforsakenly dumb you are? The only followers they can gain are people who never like Buhari and who wish him evil just because he won their hero/brother.
For crying out loud even the king of ogoni land admited GEJ failed them. The Fulani herder is the very one implementing something that was ready for approval since forever, The same man who made sure that he didn't sign the 2016 budget until the Lagos-Calabar rail project was included, something our so-called reps and senators didn't give a hoot about! Are these not things that benefit the common ND man and Nigeria at large? What do you want to do with govt appointments? Are you lobbying for posts for yourself or your family member? What else do you bloody baboonistic species want? Buhari's headhuhhuh?? The so-called brother who was at the helm of affairs for over 5 solid years did absolutely nothing. What did he do for the area apart from making a few militants and elites billionaires who didn't even see fit to donate a tap to their communitieshuh?? Yet some irredeemable foolish imbecilic dumb battalion ingrediential buffoonish nincompoops are still here allowing the devil use them to cause mass sufferings. "Not killing people" my round asss!
The way I'm seeing my people hailing terrorists I'm even beginning to think that we are much wicked and violent than the North because I don't remember Northerners coming out en masse to support BH or the herdsmen killings the way my people are all over the place cheering these guys on as if they themselves are not suffering. I mean what kind of hate will make you choose to die of hunger than allow someone who is not your brother feed you? Even the devil must be shuddering in hell right now! The comments whenever there's news of bombings and likes on such comments make me throw up. Like seriously are we cursed I'm seriously ashamed of telling people I'm from South South now. I'm really not very proud of telling people I'm from this region at the moment. Just too embarrassing!
you don't have To be proud of Niger delta sister, were we not suffering before the awakening ? Let president Buhari implement confab report and see all this stuff ending within a blink of an eye. Go To Mobil, elf,Chevron, shell etc in the host community and see if more than 70 percent of the permanent staffs working there ain't yorubas and hausuas should it be so. And perhaps you be ashamed that the president which swore To protect and regards all Nigerians as one went To international TV and called us 5 percent, can you imagine. Have you been To some of this host community and see things for yourself am very optimistic you will cry. Before it was offshore onshore dichotomy but we fought To a stand still now its resource control,we will fight it with our last blood. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

fiizznation:
That JUNK you called confabulation will not be implemented because it is unconstitutional, illegal and a waste of resources. Besides buhari isn't the appropriate "body" to implement it, your NA is the body to implement it. Buhari won't give in to any cheap blackmail from any part of this country. Militants say they will make his government ungovernable, we are keenly waiting for them. I promised you, the avengers or whatever they are called will regret the very first day they blew up a pipeline just to spite the president. And tompolo should pray very hard because when he is finally apprehended like the common criminal that he is, believe you me he will never be the same again.

Already the militants/economic terrorists asked for it because they thought they are somehow "invincible and untouchable", but the creeks will be comb and the rag tag militias will eventually be smoked out. It was done in sambisa forest which is by far bigger than the tiny creeks the avengers are hiding in, same thing will be repeated in the creeks.

BUHARI WILL NEVER DIALOGUE with any criminal group. Militancy in the Niger/delta will be stamped out once and for all
bla bla bla bla .. thats what you keep spewing out everyday, you sound so bitter the earlier you understand that militancy has come to stay unless the confab is implemented. NDA is a movement and this runs in the blood of every right thinking Niger delta youth ....... I believe one day i refer to this your silly write-up, remember just last week your God was begging them to come back and protect the pipeline more is coming.

MaziOmenuko:
Keep bombing, pipelines aren't that expensive, we shut down the flow stations, get new pipes and get it working within 3 days. Its more like a rupture to a flow line, a temporary setback that wont cost much; no biggie... Chevron has already fixed all the ones u guys blew up, it's not rocket science.

Everyday is for the thief, I will be here when people will start screaming genocide and selective witch-hunting when you are finally dealt with.

For those blaming Buhari, maybe you don't know the efforts govt has made so far to negotiate with these guys. A group was invited and after negotiations and agreement, NNPC trunk lines was bombed and NDA stated boldly that the want secession.
All these ijaw groups asking for negotiations just wants to make some money out of the whole situation.
These guys don't want anything other than to disrupt govt, disrupt the EFCC cases against them. They had already stockpiled arms during the boko haram arm scandal. Their chief sponsor is already claiming to be on exile. He fortified them prior to election and they are already acting out the scripts.

Weeping endureth for a while, but joy sure cometh in the morning. NDA, we will defeat you. You can take that to the bank.
To be frank with you there Is nothing like NDA or avengers what will have now Is a belief in which every Niger delta citizens hope and lean on, its high time true federalism Is implemented or else this belief will go so deep into this guys and it will be rather late . Enough Is enough. Imagine a man from a poor state calling us 5%. Yak Aba

From 80% to 90%, no doubts, some dubious northerners control some juicy oil blocks, but it is meaningless to filter out some northern names only (some others have even created reports and filtered only northern and SW names all to play some dubious tribal divide politics with the minds of the gullible). But now please, why don't we do a simple name checking exercise to point out the full list of the 'big men' exploiting the Niger delta oil.

https://www.nairaland.com/3110309/oil-blocks-owners-88-owned
http://www.nigerianmonitor.com/revealed-check-out-the-full-list-of-owners-of-nigerian-oil-blocks/
judging from the well tailored list it is important to note that even with this multinationals northerners and westerners are still majorities... should it Be so? i love northerners and westerners the same way i love Other tribes but my issue with them is cheating on us.... can u tell me why all the headquarters of exon mobil , chevron and the rest are situated in lagos state .....also can you tell me why ibaka sea port is not on motion up till now just becos the top shots wants only lagos seaport to work what about epz in cross river state .... the list is too numerous.... Bros federalism and regionalism alone will solve this lingering issue. united state re practicing it why can;t we emulate from them too

I can assure you that the people bombing these pipelines and throwing the nation into darkness are not from those suffering communities. And you know what?... just like before, when these miscreants are EVENTUALLY paid, they would squander the moneys in wild living while the real indigenes of the suffering communities would still remain in their penury. We still have fresh examples like the Asaris and Tompolos and the Atekes who have made billions but have not in any substantial way given back to the real communities that suffer the direct brunt of oil exploration/production.

By the way, what I referred to as ignorant was the 85% figure which you gave as yoruba and hausa being the biggest gainers from the oil industries, nothing could be more ignorant. First of all, if you have ever walked into the office of an oil company like exxonmobil at eket, you will realise that at least 80% of the employees, both the high and low level staff, contractors, contractor staff, even the cooks, cleaners, security men etc etc are from akwa Ibom. There is no doubt that we have some other tribes in the company which includes yorubas and igbos and other niger delta tribes. It is a similar scenario when you walk into many other oil companies, as a matter of fact, it is only in nnpc I have really seen northerners so I wonder where that your 85% figure came from.
well maybe not in the exon mobil i know of which is situated at Eket . This new avengers are not like other hungry militants . what the required from the federal government is to retrieve license from the 90 percent northerners that owns oil blocks in their region and implement true federalism. What we have now is unfair and unacceptable it has not happened any where before for pete sake.....enough is enough
